Microsoft Sharepoint is a software platform and family of software products used for collaboration and web publishing combined. These capabilities include developing web sites, portals, intranets, content management systems, search engines, wikis, blogs, and other tools for business intelligence and collaboration. SharePoint has a Microsoft Office-like interface, and it is closely integrated with the Office suite.

I have tried to install this as a standalone as well as a farm. I have also tried to use the ARM templates with Azure. I keep having the same issue.  I have searched the web can not find the correct solution.  Has anyone had luck making it all the way through the pre-requisites without seeing this issue? Maybe there was an issue with the configuration of the App Fabric?

I am trying to search a file or files based on a a text in the file name in SharePoint Online Document Library. Our objective is to load around 44000 files in a document library (and it would increase with time) and search for files there.
We have uploaded around 10000 files so far and the search fails giving the following error:
The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator.
This means that the administrator has set the maximum items in a view to a certain value. However, this should not happen as the search result would return at most 1 or 2 files.

We are performing the search using Client Object Model (C#). We tried keyword search that did not do anything but when we used CAML query it worked and we got this error. Is there anyway to perform a search without this error?

Dear Experts,
I have just started using Sharepoint 2019, and wanted to create a calendar to book multiple conference call numbers to avoid double booking.  I am able to create a Site Content, but I wanted to put that on my Home page, and cannot find a way to refer to either the link itself (HTML Field Security issue) or add Web App parts.  (I can only choose Events, not calendar.)  I am not sure what permission I do not have, and this was set up as a learning platform, so no one that installed this on prem server can answer my question.  Please advise.

We are using an on premise version of MS Sharepoint 2013. I created a document page that contains urgent web based applications. I need these to open in a new window (or ideally in an inPrivate window). Using the syntax website.com#OpenInNewWindow, and clicking "Click to test" it works. After saving and then clicking the actual menu item on the document page, it still replaces the current page.
I am hoping someone has seen and corrected this.
thank you

I am getting an error when trying to run my solution. It will build successfully.  The error occurs when trying to access the Web Applications.  I have added myself to Farm Admin, Local Admin, WSS_ADMIN_WPG. When I run the solution, I can access the Central Administration root URL, but when it tries to traverse to lower sites in CA, I get the same error.  All the other Web applications are denied at the top level.

I can run a PowerShell script on the same server and get the response with ALL Web Applications URL's with no errors.

I know Microsoft O365 is going to force TLS 1.2 beginning In June 2020.  However, when we try to connect with Firefox TLS 1.2 -- it can't connect.  I assume it isn't enabled?  How do I insure TLS 1.2 is enabled for all O365 Services so that I can start switching everything?

Thanks in advance.

I am trying to get a solid answer about accessing the content database directly (read-only), so I can generate reports. Still, I know, in most cases, "changing" the database will cause the removal of your support from Microsoft. I referenced this article, but many people are saying that you can access the content database for read-only as long as you do not change anything in the database.

I know I could use CSOM, but that is not the question.

Dear Experts,

We have Intranet with some library created in Sharepoint 2010 server, and now we are migrating to Sharepoint 2019.  Aside from moving the contents, we are also trying to create a web-based database to be shared internally.
Since I want to create a rule in our Outlook to automatically add data to this database, I thought it would be easier to create it in Access.
What I am confused about is, is Sharepoint 2019 going to allow Access 2016 to publish an app to be shared?  I know that Access Service is being killed. I am not sure how to best approach this.
I have not used Sharepoint 2019 extensively, and still trying to figure this out.  Please advise.

I need the correct method/code to support updating a SharePoint list item/record when a user clicks a button in an O365 PowerApp.

I have a list hosted in SharePoint that is made visible to users via an O365 PowerApp. The app is very simple in design, with a table and a cancel button. So far, when the user selects an item/record the ID of that item/record is populated into a field to the right of the cancel button. I did this believing that it should be passed to the code in order to update the correct record. Here is a screen shot of the PowerApp (using test data):

PowerApp with test data
If the user has an item/record selected, when they click the 'Cancel submission' button I need the status field in the SharePoint list to update (for the item/record) to read 'Cancel', and for the list visible on the form to refresh.

So far I've failed to come up with the correct code syntax, which may be because it's not possible but I suspect that as a newbie to PowerApps I'm missing some fundamentals...here is where I have got to (under the OnSelect):

Patch(tbl_funds_due_in,{tbl_funds_due_in ID: DataTable1.Selected.ID},{received: "Cancelled"})

I want to begin migrating our data to SharePoint with the goal of becoming 100% Cloud based over the next two years.

If I copy files from the file server to SharePoint and the users begin accessing the SharePoint files from their SharePoint link File Explorer in Windows 10 will SharePoint sync with the files on the server?

As users create new folders/files under the SharePoint link in File Explorer, will it sync back to the files on the server?  I want to stop using the file server for new folders/files and have it slowly become  an archive" and move the old folders/files to Blob storage as they get "stale".

Is this a good way to implement SharePoint?

Any other suggestions on how to best implement this is appreciated.

Thanks,
cja

I ned to set up a VDR using SharePoint. It is for sharing and collaborating with external partners. Important features of a VDR are, but not limited to:

1) User Management and Control (User login, Login auto expiry, Assigning access permission etc)

2) Data Management and Control (Access permission, watermarking, cannot download/save, cannot print, cannot edit etc)

3) User Activity Report (when did user login, frequency of login, which files, etc)

Any best practices or any advice?

I have a scenario where a "Client Member - Contribute" add, download, check-in and check out a document, but when they make changes to the document then save it, then check it back in, no changes are made.  The timestamp in SharePoint does show that it is rechecked in by the user at the appropriate time. ??

I am using Sharepoint Company site
When I attach a file using the Outlook email client and the "Insert > File Attach" in a new email, the files takes a very long time to attach (and may not attach at all)
The outlook client is office 365 2016
I get a notification that a file is being downloaded

If I attach a downloaded file (downloaded from Sharepoint) the attachment is very quick

It is obviously a sync issue
Any ideas?
I have tried all the obvious solutions

A client has requested us to develop a custom search page that be able to query Sharepoint Library (via Sharepoint API) and also to query an in-house SQL Server database/table.
We have already developed the part that queries the Sharepoint site but for the SQL Server part we were recommended not to connect the search page using Javascript. Others, have recommended to use PowerApp, WebApp, etc. also someone suggested to use a Middleware, and finally someone recommended to use BCS ("Business Connectivity Services").

So my question is, what would you recommend to achieve this challenge?

For all those sharepoint experts, I have a a couple of questions regarding best practices. We need to have a site up that will hold meeting/brainstorming discussion data from 10 departments. To complicate matters, management has not been able to tell me know if this is something long term. .

they want the site in 3 days, not enough time to do metadata will go with folders for now
Management wants access to be locked down. Only people who belong in a department can access that departments files.

So the question is,

do i create 10 document libraries (require me to break inheritance) in one site or 10 sites?
do i create 12 sharepoint groups in sharpeoint and add individual sharepoint users to it  or should I make AD groups for each department, give permission to the AD group in sharepoint and add staff to the respective AD group ?

I'm not sure which is the best method.

I am testing some web parts in SharePoint 2019 that were developed for SharePoint 2010. I have installed Visual Studio 2019 on my dev server, and the projects have been upgraded when Visual Studio offered to do so.When I try to deploy a web part, I get the error: "Error occurred in deployment step 'Recycle IIS Application Pool': Cannot connect to the SharePoint site: http://ehnordic/default.aspx/. Make sure that this is a valid URL and the SharePoint site is running on the local computer. If you moved this project..."
I have double-checked the URL (it is an internal URL) and it is correct. Then why do I get this error?
