I have a web part in my SharePoint 2010 site that pulls from a link list and puts all of my links into a dropdown list.  When an item in this list is selected, the users goes to whatever link it points to.  

We are migrating to SharePoint Online and I no longer have this functionality.  I see several articles online about how to create them in "previous" versions of SharePoint, but cannot locate any web part or instructions on how to do this in SharePoint Online (O365).  

Any ideas?  Open to purchasing a web part, or figuring it out myself with code.
I'm new with using Sharepoint 365. I'm creating a site for my group that has documents etc. I'd like to create an issues pane. So if there's a campus wide IT issue, users can look there and see status, updates, and so forth.
Can anyone share what the best format to use in Sharepoint would be? Like is it a news item?

In my Sharepoint 2016 site, when I search by keyword pivot table, I expect it to pull up linked items with captions that include that keyword.
However, it is only pulling up that page, not that item. I have tried using the Alternative text as a keyword, but no luck.

It will pull up documents with those keywords, but I need it to find the item, not the page.

Anyone help in correcting this?
We have a sharepoint online site within office 365 that is locked down not to allow anyone other than the owners to download the files. Instead they can only view the documents in the web browser and they can not print.

The mian problem we have is we would like to allow the users to use the "Alert Me" function which will send them a daily digest of new files.

We have allowed in th ePermission levels the option to create alerts, however the users can only create alerts of files. If they try to create alerts on folders after they have clicked on the relevant options for what kind of alert they want they get a "sorry, you dont have access" page where they can request access.

where can i allow them access on all folders and sub folders to create alerts?
I have a client that currently has Lotus Notes and SharePoint 2010.  We are trying to determine if we can migrate to SharePoint Online and wait to migrate to Exchange Online later.
I have a director who wants to share files with a group including some people not on our domain. I have given him admin rights but it still won't allow him to share with external users.

Anyone know where I'm going wrong?
Using sharepoint online (Office 365). A page in one of my sharepoint sites is not able to be edited in classic mode. I've set the pages library to default to classic, but the page only shows in Modern mode.

I have other pages on this same site that can be edited in classic.  

How do I open the page for editing in classic mode? I've tried refreshing multiple times and triple checked to make sure the pages library is set to default to classic mode. There is no "return to classic SharePoint" link to click on, in this page.

We have an issue where when a user syncs a library with OneDrive that has versioning or Checked Out ticked, they can only open the document in Read-Only.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

I want users to be able to submit a word document to a sharepoint online library. A team will review the document and then approve or reject it. Multiple users will submit the documents, I do not want them to be able to view other users documents or have access to anything else on the site. I have setup a site and created a separate document library for the users to submit their documents. what is the best approach to achieve this?
I create a new Folder in Sharepoint Online and attempt to grant access to my employee (group) to the Folder. All I get is "Failed to Grant Access". I then click on Advanced and attempt to remove Permissions Inheritance from the Folder in order to grant specific permission. I get the following error:

Sorry, something went wrong
You cannot break inheritance for this item because there are too many items with unique permissions in this list.

This is beyond frustrating as I seem to be going round in circles.

A client uses Office 365 and have an internal SharePoint Online site they use ( They wanted to create a customized URL for the users to connect with so they created a CNAME as pointing to but it doesnt work. I did some research and it seems this is normal - is this correct? If not how do we create a CName for sharepoint online?
I am using SharePoint Designer 2013 with SP1. I want to edit my sharePoint online site but it will not open. It prompts me for creds but these aren't the usual O365 login. Any ideas the process to edit a sharepoint online site? thanks
I'm having problems consistently downloading files from a Sharepoint Online server, in VBA in Access 2010/2013/2016. The code below works fine on some clients, occasionally on other clients, and not at all on others. It's probably due to authentication differences amongst the clients pc's. Anyone have some code that directly incorporates the authentication in the download ? Mapping a drive letter to the Sharepoint solution is unfortunately not possible at the moment.

After upgrading to Windows 10 1903, client computers can't save into WebDAV via office 2016.

I've tried mapping the drive via my computer and WebDAV, opening the folder and documents works fine.  Saving a txt file with notepad works fine.  Opening and Excel file with Excel works fine, but saving errors very fast.  Opening same txt file with Word errors with very generic error.  See attachment. excel error
Using fiddler, I was able to see a little better error message.fiderror.PNG
So far we have been uninstalling 1903 but it seems like that is an uphill battle at this point.


I have this pnp script which adds a button to a list view ribbon.

It runs and I can delete the button in script and know that is was there and deleted by count.

But, the pnp script to add the button doesn't work until after I had run a console app to add a button to the list.  

It is as though some structure needs to be setup that the pnp script isn't doing.

How can I check audit logs in SharePoint 2013? Someone changed the homepage to a dark theme and I would like to find out who did so. More of a concern is that if they could change this setting, what else can they do. After, I will go through the permissions and fix those.

I've got a client that was using a shared spreadsheet on a drive on their server with all their customer information as a call sheet. They wanted to be able to have multiple users edit the spreadsheet at the same time so I put it on Sharepoint, problem solved. However each office sorts the spreadsheet a different way to perform their function in it and all users are forced to see it sorted the same way. If user A sorts alphabetically user B's view will update to the sort from user A.

I'm not really sure what specifically I'm looking for but there has to be software out there capable of showing their customers by name, appt date, service offered etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for a solution?

I setup a custom "document type" retention policy in SharePoint 2013 on a document library that has version control enabled. The retention policy triggers a workflow that emails users documents that have expired. Screenshot below:

The problem I am having is if the end user changes the expired date to a future date, the retention policy uses the old expiration date instead of the new one so an email is sent even though the item has not expired.  I figure its because version control is enabled, its using the old date but I don't want to turn off version control.  Any other fixes for this?  thanks and much appreciated.

I am having issues “checking in” a PDF document that has been opened from a Sharepoint site within Acrobat. We have just recently moved from using a file server to Sharepoint Online.

Below is a bit of information of my environment:

  • We are a tenant of Sharepoint Online under the company’s headquarters.
  • I am an administrator of the site.
  • Users authenticate to the sharepoint using a domain password as well as a certificate assigned to each individual user.
  • The version of Acrobat being used is Adobe Acrobat Professional version
  • Users Workstations are Windows 10 Professional x64.
  • Users access files from the Sharepoint site using a network location (not a drive mapping) within File Explorer.
  • All Microsoft products (docx, xlxs etc) check in and out without any issues.

What is happening is this:

1.      User opens a PDF document from the site, using the mapped location within File Explorer.
2.      Acrobat opens the document and asks options to either Check Out & Open or Open. I have instructed the users to click on CheckOut & Open.
 checkoutand open3.      The PDF document opens and the user makes their modifications, which is mainly to sign the document with their digital signature.
4.      User attempts to exit acrobat after making change to the document.
5.      Users are prompted to Check In the document and click Yes.
CheckIn6.      Comment box appears, users put in a value and click on OK
Comments7.      Error appears saying acrobat cannot access the network. Users click OK.

I am attempting to implement the validation settings for 5 columns in SharePoint 2013.  I am having problems nesting the IF statements.  Each line works but when I link them together the textbox doesn't except the value and still states location required.

I need to change Add new Item to add new recognition for the list I am working on and also I need to change the title and web part is not giving me editing options.
I saw the aspx code for the views on the list and i see where there is a newItem parameter binding

but I am hesitant to change that thinking there would be changes to every add new item list.
i know some forums are mentioning jscript and I have tried that, it doesn't work in 2016. Can someone please point to right direction?
