Is there a way for me to set a default user or group in a SharePoint 2016 People and Groups column in a List in the Newform form.

I want to re-create/duplicate the default upload method that exists in the document command bar (upload button)

upload.png

it's a simple pop up that allows the staff to browse to the file/folder that they want to upload. I would use the default method but I can't remove the other stuff

I looked online and found a way to create a custom upload using this method:
http://site/_layouts/Upload.aspx?List={id}

but that redirects the user to the  upload page where they have to enter information and be prompted to save. I do not want that.

I put a bit of custom JavaScript within a list new item edit form within the PreSaveItem function.  I set a breakpoint there and when I save the list item, I don't break in the function.

Please advise.

Since the latest updates to Office 2016,  I have been unable to upload documents to our SharePoint WSS site.  The error is Upload Failed: We're sorry this didn't work....  In the Upload Center the status is Upload Failed, Upload Error.   I am trying to keep this old SharePoint site running until we go to Office 365 early next year.  Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone explain how to add the authenticated users inbox and calendar to an Office 365 sharepoint site page.  The OWA Web parts do not seem to function anymore and the Page Viewer web part does not seem to allow owa in a frame.  I would like an employee to login into the 365 site and see his inbox directly on the page.  In the past (2007?)this was possible.

We have just migrated to Sharepoint Online (SPO) from an on-premise Sharepoint instance. The migration went fine. All of the libraries look and behave as expected and we have now gone "live" with the new sites.

As a part of the design of this migration, it was decided that we would setup all SPO libraries such that all links to SPO library documents (no matter what format or file extension) would be opened not by the browser-based version of the Office 365 app, but instead they would open using the locally-installed Office application. We decided on this setting because not all of our end users have the very newest version of Office 365 (subscription-based license model) installed. Some have an older volume license installation of Office 2013 and some have an even older VL version of Office 2010. All are licensed for O365 under our enterprise agreement, but not all of them have the actual O365 version of the PC app suite installed.

One of the pre-migration assumptions (that we were assured was true by the way) was that we made was that SPO links to library documents would open in Office apps. This is usually true but not always. some of our users are not able to open Word, Excel and other documents if they have Office 2010 or Office 2013 installed, where other users with the same VL packages installed have no difficulties opening exactly the same documents while using the same SPO library, same document link, same OS and same browser.

When the affected users (so …

I have been asked to provide a solution where the inhouse windows 2016 server has a folder that synchronises the contents of that folder to a cloud storage. The cloud document store needs to be able to be accessed via a browser by an external company. My client uses office 365 and i was playing around with Azure file sync, Sharepoint .....etc.

I have managed to get the local folder to sync using Azure file sync ok but cant see how to get a link between the files synchronised and sharepoint or is there another secure way that i should be looking at. I need a secure solution up and running by Monday.

PS i have never used Azure / Sharepoint before. Should i be looking at setting up an FTP site?

Greetings,
We are testing Project Pro Online. We use SharePoint online as well. We copied a test project file as well as a master resource list into SharePoint Online. We are unable to select the master resource list from within the test project (even with both of them open) when going to Resource > Resource Pool > Share Resources as the pop up does not show the master resource list in the drop down (which is open and in the same SharePoint library folder).

I have researched this and found it is a common problem but was wondering if this was now working or if there is a workaround. If not, any help with migrating / copying the resources from the master resource list to Project Online resource center is appreciated, if that is the correct method to use Project Online resources.

Thanks for any help - I am new to this.

Our sharepoint system is sync'd to active directory for job descriptions and some other things.   it is sharepoint 2013 btw.   I go to the manage user profiles section and run a "Start profile synchronization".
I go to check the edit user profile on the admin farm and the Title is now correct.  It pulled it from Active Directory as expected.
I then rerun the index crawl search and it completes as expected.

when I do a search for this person in the directory, the old Title is still populated in the search results....
I have cleared all my cookies and history in the IE.  does anyone know a work around for this problem.    It has been occurring for months and my sharepoint guy cant find a fix

Anyone seen this before. Any workaround?

Hi all

We are having problems pasting into Quick Edit. It just... doesn't work? If I try to paste more than say 10 rows, the screen whites out with the 'Loading' wheel going and no matter how long we wait, it simply hangs.

This is across two tenants and several users. Anyone got any ideas? It's really getting in the way of things.

I can paste one row at a time, but even that can be patchy, sometimes it only picks up the first one or two fields and then we get the little blue loading wheel in the first cell in the row.

Whenever either of these things happens, the Exit Quick Edit link is unresponsive and we have to exit all the way out to another page, go back in and try again.

Thanks!

Trying to repurpose code that is taking an attachment link from a custom Edit form in Sharepoint and making it work dynamically if there is more than one attachment. Originally it was devised thinking the items would only have 1 attachment.

$( document ).ready(function() {
var attachurl = $("#idAttachmentsTable").find("a").attr('href');
	//alert(attachurl);
	$("#idAttachmentsRow").remove();
	$("#linkurl").attr("href", attachurl);

if  (attachurl== null) {
$("#attachment").hide();
}
else {
$("#attachment").show();
}

});

Open in new window

The current code is finding the "first" attachment and replace the URL to the file with the placeholder URL.

<div id="attachment"><p style="font-size: 20px; font-weight: normal; margin: 0; Margin-bottom: 15px;">
<a id="linkurl" href="/teams/lms_help/portal/Lists/Requests/Attachments/samplefile.txt" target="_blank">Download Attachment</a></p></div>

Open in new window

Now, the code would have to iterate through all of the potential rows of attachments in the "idAttachmentsTable" (if there are two or more) and then add a new line to the div. Download Attachment would have to be replaced with the "Name" of the file.

Any suggestions on how to approach this would be helpful.

ANY EASIER TEMPORARY SOLUTION.

Does anyone know how to add a box that would count how many attachments there are and put that into the DIV instead?

THANKS!!!

How can I edit this link so that it points to a specific worksheet within that Excel file?

Microsoft Sharepoint Search Server 2010 Express

Crawler is crawling a file share and reporting tens of thousands of successful crawls. Search returns nothing. I found that if I search for items marked with "English" language I get 6 hits returned. I noted that the default scope also shows 6 items. I modified the scope to ensure it contained "everything" but still only reports 6 items. I have compared the security on the listed 6 items with some of those listed in the crawler log and can see no difference from a security perspective. Its like the scope is excluding results unnecessarily.

Anyone else seen this? can you help?

I manage a small office of 16 users.  A few of them are remote, and the two owners travel regularly.  About a year ago we moved email to O365 and they’ve been super happy with that.  Now they want to move their primary files from their 2016 Server Essentials to the cloud, and would like to use O365 since it’s include with their subscription.

I set up a SharePoint site and started migrating about a week ago.  Their main folder structure on their server has about 8 “main” folders, then subfolders and files galore below that.  I started using the SharePoint Migration Tool from the start, and it seemed pretty easy.  However, I noticed that even though I choose to upload “X:\Marketing”, it does not move the content of the Marketing folder on the server to the Marketing folder on the SharePoint site.  Instead, it moves the contents of the Marketing folder to the ROOT of the SharePoint site.  So let’s say our file server was something like this:
-Marketing
      - Folder A
      - Folder B
      - Folder C
      - ….
then the Migration Tool uploaded the contents to look like this:
- Marketing
- Folder A
- Folder B
- Folder C
- ….

The first few that I migrated over wasn’t a big deal because they only contained 10, 20, 50 subfolders.  I could use the “move” option from the Sharepoint site and move them back into the primary folder.  However, I had a few folders that had several hundred subfolders.  When I tried to move them all to their main folder I was often met with errors (for …

Hi Guys,

I am planning on migrating to SharePoint  in the upcoming weeks. What would be the best way to add members to a team site?

Is there any other way rather than adding members through the team site?

Thanks

I have a web part on a page which uses a search result source with a {page.title} query variable. If I go in to search result sources and test it with a value it returns the correct results.

However, from the web part it returns zero results so there must be an issue with what the web part on the page is trying to pass to that query but I can't for the life of me work out how to view what that value is.

Is there a way of passing a value from the web part to the query variable?

SharePoint help we are new to it.

We have a SharePoint (Microsoft flow) list to choose from IF we choose a PROJECT from the project lookup , there are 5 departments listed.
  ONCE chosen (dept) the remaining form get filled out.   Once its filled and saved we need to log that somehow because all departments must complete form.   We then want to send an email to end users saying that the PROJECT is complete.  The code to do this is what I don’t follow or understand fully.   Can someone help

Bottom line all depts must complete the form and then an email is sent.

I would like to use PowerShell PnP to provision a custom action to a specific list.  What I have done towards that end is I wrote a console application which adds a button to the list so that when I select a list item, the item tab on the ribbon has my new button and a call to JavaScript function which I add to the page with a Script Editor Web Part.

Step two, I ran some PnP to pull the template for that list (with the button).

$listName = "SomeList";
$outputTemplateFileName = $path +  "SomeList.xml";
$template = Get-PnPProvisioningTemplate -OutputInstance -Handlers Lists
$listTemplate = $template.Lists | Where-Object { $_.Title -eq $listName }
$template.Lists.Clear()
$template.Lists.Add($listTemplate)
Save-PnPProvisioningTemplate -InputInstance $template -Out $outputTemplateFileName

Open in new window

Step 2 - Edit the xml file that was saved such that it only has the CustomAction for this new button.  This is the step that is my challenge.  How do I strip out just that part and still add the button to a list?

Hi,

I’ve been dumped in the deep-end and inherited the companies SharePoint 2016 On-Prem system (previous expert has been signed off) .  I understand the basics but cannot fathom out what is likely a simple issue….

We have SharePoint user profiles setup to sync with AD, however the syncing process does not seem to be updating SharePoint profile information like Job Title, Dept. etc. This attributes are updated in AD and then should sync with SharePoint and update profile details like for like. However, it’s been reported that since last week any person that is searched for in the ‘People’ search - the persons profile information still displays old information and does not reflect the details in AD.

The sync connection looks ok with the correct AD OU container selected. All scheduled profile sync jobs seem to run ok and there are no obvious errors.
Any ideas on how the SharePoint user details can be updated to the correct details in AD.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you
