Is it possible to put an MS Access 2016 back end database on SharePoint and link the tables to local front end?  I have an access 2016 database tool that I split into a front and back end for use in a multi user environment.  In prior projects I've done this using a shared network drive, but performance took a bit of a hit.  I've been asked if we can find a solution that works with SharePoint.  Is this possible and if so, how do we do it.

Thanks

When opening a PowerPoint file from SharePoint, the file opens in read only mode, when the local installation of PowerPoint is used to view the file.

I have a list on SharePoint Online that has 50,000 approx entries. We've suddenly been prompted by SharePoint's 5,000 list item threshold when using the views, even though none of the views will return anything near 5,000 results. Why does SharePoint display the threshold message even though the view has less than 5,000 records, and is there any way around this?

Here's some more information. Our site is a member database with approximately 1,000 members who have done approximately 50 activities each over 10 years, so approximately 5 activities per year, per member. We have all of those activities in a list, hence the 50,000 total entries. We have a Surname field and an Event Date field used in the View Filter, both of which are indexed. We have 26 views set up, with our filter set as "Surname begins with _" (The _ is replaced by A-Z, hence 26 views) and "Event Date > Today - 365" which should return a few hundred records at most. We have an Excel spreadsheet that can prove that the greatest number of records that should be returned is less than 1,000 for any of the 26 Views. Everything was working fine until a week or so ago, but now around half of the Views bring up the threshold error. Our Views are grouped by Surname, and as well as the Event Date, show two additional fields that are not indexed - one for the Amound Paid and one for the Operator that took the money. The Views are sorted by Event Date descending.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I am a SharePoint administrator.
I would like to add a Redirect function based on the users Group membership to our SharePoint 2013 site.
So when a user clicks a link on a home page, they will be redirected to a subsite based on the group they belong to
Since there are many groups in our site, I need to be able to manage the list of groups with the redirected URL's. Whats the best way to do this.

I have some seen some info our there, but nothing that is well documented and complete as to how to put it all togther

I appreciate the help
Thank you
Henry

I'm working on an event receiver for a list in SharePoint 2016.  I am having  trouble getting the code to break.  I attached to all the w3wp processes and as I'm attaching them, I see the breakpoint icon changing to hollow and it's popup says I'm not loading the documents symbols.

Any suggestions with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Team
I'm actively searching on the internet for a plugin that could integrate Redmine and Microsoft Sharepoint. The idea here is that Redmine users could access there files on Sharepoint from a Redmine project. Does this plugin exist?

Thanks.

I have a power app that is a form for entering data into a SharePoint online list and I would like one of the drop downs to show two fields with a filter in the second list.

The two lists are used for time logging to jobs.

List 1 - Jobs
Columns - Job ID, Job Name, Job Owner, Summary, Status (Open/Closed), Notes, Total Time Spent (Lookup to Time List with Flow).

List 2 - Time
Columns - Case ID, Job ID (Lookup to Jobs List), Summary (Lookup to Jobs List), Time Spent, Time allocated to.
I would like to be able to show the Job ID and Summary of only items that have the status open when entering a new entry into the time list. Otherwise they will have to select the ID and have to know the ID for each job they allocate time to.

I hope I’ve explained this ok do let me know if any gaps need filling.

I want to link a folder from a shared drive to SharePoint 2010 list. The goal is to have people click on  Sharepoint list column and it will take them to a folder in the shared drive containing a list of path. Instead of open share drive and follow the path to get important documents. Thank you

I have inherited a company who already uses Office 365 for their emails. When the tenant was set up it was created with a name of "sillyname.onmicrosoft.com".

This has become more of an issue now as I wany to get them using Sharepoint Online more and they have noticed the name and wondered if it was possible to change it to some like coolername.onmicrosoft.com so there would be no reference to sillyname.

Is it possible?

Hello. We have set up external guests to come in and work with us and assigned them to visitor role. On the left side NAV pane, there is a link to Calendar (https://outlook.office365.com/owa/?path=/group/XXXX@XXXXX.com/calendar)

As an internal user to the company, when I click that, it redirects me to OWA calendar and it works fine. As a guest user, (in this case, one that has Office 365 with their own company) they click that and it tries to force them to use their work Outlook account. Is there a better way to keep a calendar within a group set up like this? We are using the Group Calendar webpart which is helpful on the page but I was looking at the Events module. Would that be better to use? Any suggestions on how to address this?  Do they need to just make sure they sign out of their Company Microsoft 365 account and log back in with the user ID they created to be a guest in our system?  Please advise of any strategies here.

What would be BEST would be to somehow have the calendar be quick and easy to access from their phone as well. That is pretty easy task for internal staff but it seems for Guests it would not be easy.

I have remote workers who have non domain joined PC's. They use one drive and sync files locally to their machines. They can also sync sharepoint sites in the same manner. When they leave I disable their O365 account however it appears (and correct me if I'm wrong) that they can still access the files after their AD account is disabled due to it being a local sync'd copy. How are other people managing this? or is the only option in tune? thanks

Need to add partner's o365 domain to our o365 portal so that both parties can see each others outlook contacts (users) and shared calendars. Also Teams should work between parties. What would be the basic steps?

We use M365 Business, Azure Active Directory Premium P1 and has enabled password writeback feature. On Premises DC and users are typically Synced with Active Directory at o365.

Hi, Is it possible to allow admins to make changes to sharepoint sites without having full access to the data. If not is there a way to flag when ever data is accessed by an admin. Trying to make a separation between system management and data access, thanks.

I work with people external to my company. I need the external users to be able to access specific folders. There are lots of folders and users so sharing a link each time is challenging. As an example I would need to allow 20 users access to three folders at the same level. Rather than going to the sharing link and adding those users I would simple add them to a group once and give that group access to three folders. I was thinking that adding the users as a guest and then adding the guests to the sharepoint group may be the best option. Is this even possible or am I missing some easier solution! thanks

Does anyone know definitively what this type of activity this is.

There are 10's of these per day/user from all over the place... US, Canada, France, Ireland, etc... All users are based in US.
I have checked 2 other tenants and they too show these same types of records in their activity logs.

All of the IP's resolve back to MS so I don't think it's anything nefarious but I am unable to explain to my leadership what these are and why it's not an issue/or is an issue.

We are moving to Sharepoint online and from my research, everything points to having a "flat site architecture" and to not break inheritance, but i have problem with that. Our company has 22 departs, the work each department does pertains to their own items. Ex. building depart files would never be access by the Finance department and vice versa so they have their own document library. So I thought of 2 ways to do this

1.) 1 site with 22 document libraries, Assign the AD/360 security groups to each document library. But then i would have to break inheritance at the site level as I don't want every group to have access to every document library.

2.). create 1 hub site and then 22 associated sites. And each associated site will have permissions for the appropriate group access so there is no need to break inheritance except for special high priority folders.

also would it be better to apply ad/365 groups resources directly or should they be placed into sharepoint groups and the sharepoint groups assigned to the resource?

A user has been using Microsoft Project Online Professional for creating and saving project plans to Sharepoint, but suddenly the option in Save As to Sharepoint is no longer in the available options. What could be the reason for this?

Hi,

We want to convert a bunch of document libraries into folders so that they can be renamed/modified from File Explorer instead of the Sharepoint site, and moved to one master Document Library under the site.

Is there a way to do this with the copy to function so that we can copy/move the files from the document libraries into the new master DL without manually creating 50-100 new folders?

We had an issue with our of our employee's whom kept on modifying security on his individual basis such as not requiring a password change after 90 days and such and left our company in bad terms.  We did an incident report as far as hiring an expert company to verify if any data was "stolen" or what he really had access to, but nothing major came up.  On another note, since the company could not verify or deny is anything left the company, we wanted to make sure 100%, if possible.  This particular ex-employee did bring his personal laptop into the company numerous time and had personal switches installed as well.  We have Office365, SharePoint and only had DLP on a monitoring mode when the user was in the company.  In addition, is there a way this user could have setup some type of "forwarding" information to another account for monetary reasons?

Any thoughts on this?

We have Office 365 with Sharepoint online.  We sync SharePoint and OneDrive files locally.  We are trying to figure out the best way to share folders and files with users that are external to our company some of which have Office 365 accounts of their own, some of them do not have Office 365 accounts.

These outside users will be collaborating with our team members and working on the same files.  Ideally we would like everyone to be syncing these files locally so that we will see changes in real time.  Some of these files are things like AutoCAD drawings, etc.  They are not all Office type documents.

So we are trying to figure out how to share the  library so that users can sync it.   Our Share restrictions are shown in the screenshot.  Some of the projects will go out longer than 60 days so we do not like the thought of using anonymous links... and even when we tried using them we had some issues.  It seemed as though if an external user had Office 365 and was logged into it they would get an error trying to open the anonymous link.  It was as if it was trying to use their own credentials to open the link.. and the error message returned said something to the effect that their email address does not exist in our Companys Sharepoint directory, etc, etc.  If they were not signed in to 365 they were able to open the link without issue, but they did not have the sync button in the ribbon.

What is the best way, or even A way, to go about doing what we are trying to do? …

Hi,

I'm trying to run a report on the version history of the files we have stored on our SharePoint online, as I ideally want to bulk delete a lot of old versions. I found a script to do that, and modified it so that it works with MFA, but whenever I run it in the SharePoint Online Management Shell, I end up with the following error:

Error Exporting version History to CSV! Exception calling "ExecuteQuery" with "0" argument(s): "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."

(I'm Global Admin and owner of the site, so there's no permission issue)

I've tried a few things, installed the latest versions of the SharePoint Online Client Components SDK, but nothing seems to work. Any help would be brilliant.

The script I'm using is the following:

#Load SharePoint CSOM Assemblies
Add-Type -Path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\16\ISAPI\Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.dll"
Add-Type -Path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\16\ISAPI\Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.Runtime.dll"

Function Export-VersionHistory()

        [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)] [string] $ListName,
        [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)] [string] $CSVFile,
		# Tenant Name
