Hello All,

Our company is going though layoff and somehow they have decided it would be wise to let our Share Point admin go.  It has now falling on myself.  I have no exposure to Share Point.  I have what appears to be a site, but I not you get a 404 error when trying to navigate to it.  When looking at it in Central Administration  I notice it has no url or is not part of a database.  I have tried to delete it but nothing happens.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I am trying to populate my form using JSOM but I'm having no luck. I don't get an error but when I go into debug mode, the form gets populated with the queried data.  Not sure why.

Can I use the same managed account from my existing SharePoint 2007 single server for my new SharePoint 2013 installation?

Hi

I have an issue with my office 365 site that somebody created for us.

When I click the SharePoint icon from the App Launcher, it brings me to https://xxxxxxxx.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx but it should really be https://xxxxxxx.sharepoint.com/SitePages/Home.aspx

How/where can I change it?

app launcher

Background
- Using Windows 2010 in a SharePoint 2013 environment
- Using VBA macro to trigger short 'how-to' video clips from custom tabs in Word
- Wanting to control the location of the Windows Media Player on the page
- I have control over the format of the video clips I want to show (e.g. I can create them in other video formats if needed)

VBA Code used:

Sub PlayClip()
   ActiveDocument.FollowHyperlink Address:="file://myfilereference.wmv"
End Sub

Problems
- Video is slow to load
- The Windows Media Player's (WMP) position is set by default to be close to the upper left hand corner of the Word document

Questions
- Is there a better way of playing these video clips from a Word Document
- How do I position the WMP on the page

Hi,

Trying to figure out how to best perform any backup from our O365 content. Mainly the sharepoint site.

Trying to find some information/white papers, but it is hard to come by.

Is there anyone with some experience or have some tips on and how to proceed ?

Have added the following in web.config for my SharePoint 2013 website but there are 3 or more cookies that do not seem to respect the below setting.

<httpCookies httpOnlyCookies="true" requireSSL="true" domain="" lockItem="true" />

Open in new window

Cookies:
  1. SearchSession
  2. WOPISessionContext
  3. WSS_FullScreenMode

What else should I do to ensure all SharePoint cookies are set to be HttpOnly and Secure ? This is for security scanning purposes.

What if my query returns one item every time?  When i remove the while loop, it does not work.  Thanks

var ctx = new SP.ClientContext.get_current();
var customList = ctx.get_web().get_lists().getByTitle('CustomList');

var camlQuery = new SP.CamlQuery();
camlQuery.set_viewXml('<View><Query> <Where><Eq><FieldRef Name='ID' /><Value Type='Counter'>1</Value></Eq></Where></Query></View>');
var listItemCol = customList.getItems(camlQuery);

ctx.load(listItemCol);

ctx.executeQueryAsync(
    function(){
        var listItems = [];
        var listEnum = listItemCol.getEnumerator();

        while (listEnum.moveNext()) {
            var item = listEnum.get_current();
            listItems.push('ID: ' + item.get_id() + ' Title: ' + item.get_item('Title'));
        }

        alert(listItems.join("\n"));
    },
    function(sender, args){ alert('Error: ' + args.get_message()); }

I have a web page where I need to call a function which returns a collection of profiles asynchronously.  I need to "pause" continuing until the function returns with the collection.

I have a wait until dialog that I can popup before and will close it after.

"ALL"  I need is some not too intrusive method to implement this pause.  I have been trying with setTimeout but haven't been successful.

We are getting an error:
"This content cannot be displayed in a frame
   To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame.
    What you can try:
    Open this content in a new window  "

If I open in a new window it works fine.

What we have here is a sharepoint site getting reports from SSRS added to the site.
There are 2 SSRS instances behind a single load balanced DNS entry.

We have RCN-P01 and RCN-P02 as he actual nodes and RPT-P02 as the load balanced DNS entry.

I edit the sharepoint site and tell it to grab the reports from RCN-P01 or RCN-P02 it works fine.  If I use RPT-P02 it gives the error.  If I click on the link to open in a new window it will work.  Is this something that is getting blocked in DNS, IIS, sharepoint?  Any suggestions on how to resolve it?  Any questions I should be asking the IIS admins or the server folks for more details?

I want to set the values of 3 SharePoint list columns when it goes into edit mode using JavaScript in SharePoint Online.

I have a list in a popup form that looks like the below. When the user clicks the Edit button to go into edit mode, I want the EntryDateTime to be set to the current date/time, initials to be set to the initials of the current user, and Project to be set to the current project. How/where can I fire the JavaScript?

I am not that great in Sharepoint so please bare with me. Is it possible to enabled auditing i.e: log which users access a site and what pages they view for one site only? IF so impact would this have on performance on the web servers and backend database?

I am very new to SharePoint and am attempting to download a folder of contents so that I can work with the material offline.

I have been reading and trying various methods, such as attempting to map a network drive to the corresponding folder.

I have read a few references to enabling Explorer view through a ribbon menu. However, I do not see a ribbon, nor do I see how to enable it.

The traditional view of the site is this URL:
https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/sharepoint/Support/Technology%20Resources/IT%20Docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx

I read that part of the drive mapping process requires formatting the URL appropriately:
https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/sharepoint/Support/Technology%20Resources/

When attempting to map it as a network drive, it errors out:

The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred:

Access Denied. Before opening files in this location,  you must first add the web site to your trusted sites list, browse to the web site, and select the option to login automatically.

I have confirmed that the site resides in my Trusted Sites list. I don't know where to navigate in order to select the option to login automatically.

Any assistance to achieving my objective of being able to download the content would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to determine if this can be done.  We have some sensitive HR information in SharePoint that needs to be locked down to only those we choose.  We have several folders setup with special rights which works however the Farm Admin can get to anything (by design).  Is there a way to actually lock out the Farm Admin from those areas?

The preference here would be that we would have 2 Farm admins.  One with FULL access and the other with more restricted access (locked out of those confidential areas)  Possible?

Hi,

I want to have an approval workflow on a document library that requires check in/out. Once the approval workflow is complete and approved, I want to start another workflow (Collect signatures) on the same document.
Sharepoint 2010 workflows do not allow you to start another workflow and as the document is checked in, I cannot update a custom column to trigger another workflow.

Is there a work around? The idea is that the document gets approved and a training workflow based on collect signatures is started automatically.

I am trying to get SQL database accessed and updated using SharePoint BDC and have following questions.

1. How to edit data in SharePoint list once it is fetched from SQL database?
2. Later can we add more fields to SharePoint list if needed?
3. How user permission will be remapped or updated? to ensure only user who is authorized is updating the SharePoint list?
4. Can we have two sync meaning if someone update the data on SQL using another ASP.net application and someone using SharePoint list? will both changes be seen on ASP.Net application as well SharePoint list?
5. Can we have versioning enabled on SharePoint list which is created through BDC process?

I've seen this question asked many places, but no definitive answers.

I have a SharePoint web application that is configured for external users to connect to.  It is using basic authentication with SSL.  The default domain is set.

If I use Chrome or firefox I can use only my username and password to authenticate.  However, IE requires the domain name to authenticate.

I've seen many answers that say this is by design, however is there any way around this?  Custom forms based auth my only option?

This is using MS Sharepoint Server 2013 in a single-server farm with SQL. The question arises is does setup workflow manager is a must? if without this manager, what would be missing? I read through some articles suggesting that this workflow manager has to be setup on a separate server, right?

BTW, I have to prepare to setup this new workflow manager server as my sharepoint developer stated that look like some thing is missing. Appreciate if you guys can shed some lights on the step-by-step setup and configuration.

Thanks in advance. Sorry, I am very new to sharepoint.

We recently changed data centre. One of our sharepoint servers started to run slow. When we tried to logon it would take 60 seconds to display the page. It seemed to be down to a webpart with an RSS feed so I removed. Now when a user tries to logon they get a 60 second delay the first time and then it seems fine on subsequent attempts. Any ideas why the 60 second delay occurs at the start. I'm worried about adding it back into production, thanks.

I have a document library in SharePoint 2013 with a Newsletter in it. I have created a column titled "Number of Views". Is there a formula I can use in the library settings page for the Column Settings to capture the number of times the newsletter has been viewed or opened?

I have a SharePoint sub-site that is restricted to only certain users. Currently results from that site don't show in either main site or sub-site search results.

I would like to be able to search in the sub-site without those items being found when searching in the main site.

What is the best way to accomplish this task?

Thank you!

Hello,

My Company just turned on "Throttling" on our SharePoint 2010 sites and now all Views are limited to 5000 records and if there are more than 8 lookup boxes the list will not link to an Access DB.

I am looking for the best "Work Arounds" from a user perspective as this is crippling many individuals and there doesn't seem to be any chance of IT undoing this change.

Experts:

I have a user who has read only access to  my sharepoint platform. When she opens in Explorer mode, she can't navigate up to the site from a document library. Does anyone know the least amount of permissions she needs to be able to navigate the folder structure of a sharepoint site whilst in Explorer mode?

Many thanks in advance for the help,

I am looking to make some changes to the ItemStyle.xls file and render the post page differently than how it is rendered "out of the box".  Part of my change is to look at / understand the pieces that make up the posts list.

Can someone explain where the By Author column is which can be used to sort the post list view?  I don't see it listed in the list settings and further I "hear" that there is also an Author column which also is not listed in the list settings.  Where is Author from too?
