I am looking to patch/upgrade SQL Server to SP2 and the latest CU for our SharePoint 2016 Farm.
Does anyone have a process for how to go from SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1 to SQL Server 2016 SP2 CU6 for a SharePoint 2016 database server?

Thank you,
Dan

We started having issues with mail relaying between Sharepoint 2010 and users with mailboxes migrated to Exchange Online. So we are in a Hybrid environment using AADConnect.

We have an internal smtp relay server that feeds to our on-prem servers, for years, works fine, but now since users are being migrated to the cloud, the messages to and from their mailboxes and Sharepoint On-Premises fail.

Message Delivery Error: 550 5.4.316 Message expired, connection refused

My thought is that now EOP comes into play for O365 mailboxes, and we dont have a specific connector or accepted domain for the @sharepoint.domain.com addresses that sharepoint uses. So EOP may be rejecting those messages?

Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation in the past? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi All

We have a client that uses Office 365 SharePoint heavlily and each user syncs teh data with their local PC. He has a large amount of data (400GB) whihc is filling up local HDD space when the PC is used by multiple users.

The users are reluctent to use the "free up space" option in Windows 10.

Rather than have the data synching multiple times on multiple PC's & user profiles, is there any way to sync the 365 Sharepoint onto a server and then map the drive to the users?

This would allows all users to work locally on the data, which would then only need to sync to one place. Also this would allow the data to be backed up locally.

Hi, we are looking to utilise SharePoint Online more within our company, however we want to be able to restrict access as much as possible while still allowing for a smooth experience. We don't want to have to use MFA as our sellers wont use it then. We would be using Desktops on-premise and iPads in the field to access SP.

We are looking at different ways we can do this. One of the ways we have seen is to use Conditional Access to restrict both address ranges to the UK and devices that are compliant in intune. However we currently use Airwatch and due to missing features migrating to Intune isn't really an option for us.

Is there any other better methods we can use? Ideally we would like to be able to require a device to have a certificate before access is granted. I am pretty sure we cant do this Azure AD but would it be possible using AD FS?

Any input or advice is greatly appreciated!

hi.
We have SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SQL 2008R2 SharePoint database which are looking to upgrade to SharePoint Server 2013 with SQl 2014.

New Farm Setup:
Two servers: One SharePoint Foundation Server 2013 along with SSRS in Native Mode. One database server MS SQL 2014 Enterprise hosting the SharePoint Database. ODBC connections to different databases set up on the SharePoint server for the datasources to be used in the report rdl files.
The Sharpoint site hosts the report rdls and uses the shared datasources to connect the databases and fetch report data.

The issue:
The report rendering on the SharePoint site stops after about 90 seconds, so if the report query execution on the underlying database takes longer than that to return the data, the rendering of the  report stops and the page is blank.

We have done the changes below so far, but nothing seems to work. Running out of ideas, please help.

The changes done so far to fix the above issue:
Changes in SharePoint 80 port site web.config
1) Under system.web updated the httpruntime tag and included executionTimeout="9000"
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="9000" requestValidationMode="2.0" />
2) Under appsettings added
   <add key="aspnet:IgnoreFormActionAttribute" value="true" />
  <add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="100000" />
3) Under  <location path="_vti_bin/ReportServer"> added
   <httpRuntime executionTimeout="9000" maxRequestLength="2097151" />

I am looking for a solution for our SharePoint Online Intranet to scan for ADA 508 compliance.  There are many tools that will scan publicly accessible sites, but since this is SharePoint and an Intranet, these are not an option.  Does anyone know of any "on-premise" ADA scanner or other solutions that I could look into?

Microsoft Teams (And even SharePoint and OneDrive) seem to have grey area with the storage. I can't get a good Microsoft support representative on the phone. I have a project that needs to start with 15TB of file storage and we want to use Microsoft Teams to work on this collaborative project. Is there a license that allows this right off the bat, or is there a way to pay for additional storage?

ie: OneDrive is "Unlimited Storage" but 1TB included, then you have to call when at 90% to get 5TB, and so on and so on. Teams doesn't seem to offer this scaling but we need 15TB to start with.

If Microsoft doesn't have a solution for this, what would be an equivalent?
Thanks

Hello all,

I have a List in SharePoint 2013 that has a date field:

I need this date field to auto-populate every Wednesday with the date.

So for this Wednesday the date field would populate 5/8/2019 and stay that way until the following Wednesday when it would auto-populate again with 5/15/2015.

How can I accomplish this? Calculated Value maybe? if so, what would the value be?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello experts -
my company is about to onboard users to Azure AD/Office 365 and we are using Exchange Online (hybrid), ProPlus, One Drive and Sharepoint as one of the core offerings. Just wanted to find out from the legal/compliance perspective, what legal requirements strategies (eg eDiscovery) have your companies implemented (specifically for the services above)?

Thank you!

I need to search SharePoint 2010 with a date range with  a certain word then extract all the files that pertain to that search.   Is this possible to do?  If not can you recommend a third party software that can do this?  I need to extract this information by May 6th.   Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for a solution or a method for automatically compressing and/or resizing  images when they are uploaded to a SharePoint (O365) Image Library.

Currently when I add a Image gallery web part, I can upload images, but no resizing happens nor can I find any options to optimize images.

Ideally something that will resize image proportionally with max width or height.

I know I can optimize before uploading, but most of my users will not or are not able to do this for various reasons.

Hello,

I have a sharepoint list with two column:

-First column, it's a value like : "123456789"
-Second column is a checkbox: Do you have a number? YES/NO

I want that kind of calculate column when I add new entry on the list:

 dzadad.JPG
If([secondcolumn],IS(NO) -> Fill the first column with 00000000 (and if possible gray out this column)
if([secondcolumn],IS(YES) -> Do nothing let the first column blank.

I'm working on sharepoint 2013.

Do you have any idea, I tried many solutions on google, with no real result.

Thanks you!

We have an on-premisise Active Directoy and Office 365.  We want to have users and groups which exist in our on-prem AD to be pushed up to the cloud so we can easily assigne permissions etc to Sharepoint.

At this time we are not comfortable having our passwords loaded to the cloud.  Is there away to use Azure AD Connect or similar to sync our AD but not the passwords?

Hi,

I've been trying to update our Databases for Sharepoint 2016 and I seem to get the same following error when Performing configuration task 2 of 6 during the process

An exception of type System.MemberAccessException was thrown.  Additional exception information: Cannot create an instance of System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2[Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPUrlZone,System.Collections.Generic.List`1[T]] because Type.ContainsGenericParameters is true.

I believe it to be a permissions error but I'm running the cmd as administrator and the account I'm using has admin privileges for both the SP and SQL server.

Any thoughs?

hi peeps,

I'm working on getting some starter forms (or procedures) and leaver forms (or procedures) rolling for out I.T department. I guess the most important thing is to get procedures and processes in place and content will follow.

We don't have anything like it and I want to standardise something across the business. From what they will need in terms of applications, to hardware (like laptops/phones) to credentials they need set up for them.

We do have various service desk systems along with O365 and Sharepoint that we could use to enforce such a thing.

Do you have anything in place that you have created or what you deem as being an excellent way of keeping track of things? Would you create forms on things like Sharepiont? Does your HR department have anything similar that they use?

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks for helping
Yash

I am using SharePoint Online and have a custom list in the Modern Experience that has long titles for a few columns. With no luck I have been searching for a solution to have Word-Wraping on the title fields.

I have looked into JSON formatting and so far all of the articles talk about the data fields and not the title headers.

If this was the old SharePoint, I would write CSS in a CEWP and it would be a done deal, but this doesn't appear to be an option anymore in the Modern Experience.

Any tips or solutions to getting long title names in a custom list on SharePoint Online (Modern Experience) to do a Word-Wrap?

I have created a documents library for an application checklist.  Some of the documents have been created, and I have put links to those documents in the library.  However, some documents have not been created and I need to create a entry for these not-yet-documents.  Can I do that by adding a content type, or should I have started out with a different app type?

I am new to SharePoint, having just taken a week-long class.  I am trying to figure out some things for my firm.  We use FileSite as our DMS, so we would like to keep files within the DMS.  I figured out how to put a FileSite NRL link in a SharePoint documents library.

My question is about versioning.  I would like to use versioning with approvals, but is that possible when using links instead of documents?  If not, is there any sort of workaround, maybe a column for version number and another column for status, including a list such as; draft, interim draft, final draft, approved?

We have a small workflow application we need to develop.  Typically we would give this to our dev team to create a .Net application for.  We want to know if Sharepoint might be suitable instead.

System

We are using the Sharepoint that comes with our business Office 365 account.  Some connection to our on-premises SQL Server 2012 DB required.

Spec

User 1 fills in New Customer form and submits request.  T

User 2 Can Approve or Deny request.

If request approved, email goes out to new customer with credit application form attached.   Entry is made into our Database with new customer details.

Guidance

Is Sharepoint a good fit for this?  If so, what features of Sharepoint should we being researching?

“You don’t have permission to create items on this site. Change your default PWA site or request permission to this site.

The user already has access to projects online, maybe permission is needed on the share point site?
