Firstly thanks to everyone in advance for their time and expert insights. We have several servers (all at least 2012R2) that were overprovisioned due to vendor recommendations and I need to recapture some of the free space on these drives (mostly c: and d: partitions). I worked with VMware using their VMware converter 6.2 (our ESXi is 6.5u2) and we converted a low priority test system and it went okay. I am having some issues with the application on it, but as it is a standby failover server to the main application server I cannot be sure if the issue is VMware related re. conversion or if it existed before and I will talk with the vendor as the server and application seem okay otherwise. However, I wanted to get some insights from others that have done this, since my next candidate is a SharePoint 2013 farm (2012R2 o/s) that consists of a SharePoint 2013 Farm serer and a SharePoint database server running SQL 2012. Assuming there are no issues during the conversion process itself does anyone have any insights into if this is an okay thing to do or are there any issues that VMware is not telling me, because they said it was okay. Appreciate feedback.

Exploring SQL Server 2016: Fundamentals

Learn the fundamentals of Microsoft SQL Server, a relational database management system that stores and retrieves data when requested by other software applications.

Hi experts.

We use Sharepoint 2016 and 2019.
Both are patched  by WSUS. Starting in December '19, the updates for these products where no longer downloaded by WSUS, nor can they be imported manually.

Can you please confirm this?
In WSUS (version does not matter), right click the updates section and search for update ID 4484215 (january 2020 update for sharepoint 2016) - does your WSUS find it?
To be detected, the office 2016 product needs to be enabled, of course (Sharepoint is part of office in WSUS)

For those of you, who have office 2019 enabled in WSUS, please try to search for update ID 4484224

I suspect that MS has screwed up something, since it stopped to detect these updates in december already.

I am trying to automatically sync a few sharepoint document libraries using the Administrative Templates in Microsoft Intune. All of the instructions that I have found have said to go to the document library, click sync and the click the option to copy the library id. However, that option does not appear for me even though I am a global admin. I contacted Microsoft support and they could not tell me why I did not have that option. I was told how to find the library id but I think there is more than that which is copied from it based on what I have read. I would appreciate if someone could either tell me how to get the option to copy the library id to appear or how I can retrieve the information another way. I already tried just placing the library id in the administrative template but that did not work.

Hi Experts,

I have two questions I was hoping to get clarification on.  I have a hybrid coexistence to Office 365 with adconnect and exchange online.  I've migrated all of my mailboxes to exchange online.

1.  If I remove a license to an existing remote mailbox, what is the time this goes into the recycle bin and is un-recoverable?  Is it 30 days from the creation date of the account, or mailbox creation, or a flat time period?

2.  From the Office portal, in Reports > Usage > Active Users > Office 365 > Active Users - I'm exporting a list of users for the last 90 days in trying to determine no activity.  This gives me "Last Activity Dates" for:
Exchange Last Activity Date
OneDrive Last Activity Date
SharePoint Last Activity Date
Skype For Business Last Activity Date
Yammer Last Activity Date
Teams Last Activity Date

My purpose is to remove the licenses that are not being used.  If I removed a license for an account with no activity in the past 90 days across these modalities, would this include just those applications, or word, excel, powerpoint, etc as well?

Does anyone know the algorithm used to measure exchange activity?  Is it just sent and receive metrics?

Thank you

I am reviewing a sharepoint online instance. The home page is reporting over 900GB in size. There are no documents on the home page but there are a large number of subsites. How do I find out the size of the sub sites. Also is there a way to report all file sizes in a particular sharepoint online site?

Thanks

Is it possible to collaborate on one file in SharePoint.  The problem is that when we have several users editing the same file it seems to create a second copy. Is there something we are doing wrong? Is there a file permission issue? Any advice would be appreciated.

We need some template or forms for Sharepoint pages and I want to ask Is it possible to do in Sharepoint Online:
Page with form "Holiday request". Employees fulfil this request with some date range - from when to when they will be absent. After submitting a request it is being sent to the right person who can approve or decline. When this person approves it, the correct date range will appear in a group calendar.
Unfortunately, most of the tutorials and guides refer to the previous versions of Sharepoint, not to Sharepoint Online with modern sites.

Has anyone had success copying or downloading an Office 365 SharePoint Site manually without Site Collection Administrator permissions?  I'm engaged in a company split and source company does not want to provide Administrative privileges to SharePoint Environment for fear of data loss.  So we are forced to manually move the data by syncing each site to One Drive for Business, however, this will not provide lists, term store, and other essential data.  Is there another option?

Hi Experts

I have already write the Power App to upload the
Image. there are few issues
01.It's uploading the file. But when click on the image it's not showing

See code below
MyPicsGallery= Gallery
FileLinkflow = Variable
TakenPic =Variable
UplaodImageV2.Run - it's runing Power App work flow and returning filename.
all are working fine without error. But when i'm going to see the Image it's
"Hmm ...looks like this file doesn't have a preview we can show you"
and then after download the uploaded file it will show
"It appear that we don't support this file format"
[code]
pdateContext({TakenPic: MyPicsGallery.Selected.Value});Set(
    FileLinkflow,
    UplaodImageV2.Run("abc.jpg",TakenPic).filename)

Hi,
I'm a MS Access developper who try to put my database backend to the cloud and link it to the frontend on my desktop. My client is a business which want to do that in order to access its data from everywhere (or at the very least from the company's intranet network).
I see blogs and I think the better solution is to use a Sharepoint site but I know nothing about Sharepoint nor to install it, configure it, etc.

1. Do you know if Sharepoint is the solution to my problem?
2. Do you know how can I get it?
3. Is there exist a better solution to access my backend with my MS Access frontend from the cloud?

Hello,

I've created a new  site content type named TCA based on the "document set" content type.

Every time when I create a new document set TCA I would like to have this triggered.
Means, every time when a new item (document set) has been created it should put the name
of it in a dedicated list library TCA_List.

How can I manage this?

I need help in deciding path forward for our MS Access database.

Recently my old company was bought out by another and the new company changed the network topography. They removed network drives and went completely cloud base. We are using OneDrive platform. OneDrive does not support MS Access functionality at all. I cannot share our MS Access database with multiple users, because OneDrive replicates back-end for every user that links to it. so I needed to place back-end on every user’s computer. As result, I have several versions of the back-end and we do repeat inspections as result.

I am looking for a way to solve this problem, but also a good path forward with MS Access database, and I need your advice.

I have considered the following things:

1.      Use a virtual server to host our Access database
2.      Install MS Access 2010, change database to web apps and then host it on an older SharePoint server.
3.      Use an SQL server, and migrate MS Access back-end to SQL or AZURE and somehow link it to the front end. I read about this online, but not sure how much work will be involved.
4.      Completely redesign the database to SQL version or other version
5.      Leave as it is and deal with it.

The company is willing to pay for the hosting, but I am also looking at path forward and future of this database. Its quite developed and very useful for many personnel.

I need your expertise advice since you all know ins and outs of other databases.

Thank you.

SharePoint 2016 2 Node Farm Cluster
Windows 2019 Data Center.

After going to Central Administration Application Management Web Applications Manage Web Applications I created a New Web Application
That was successful

Then to Site Collections and created a new Site Collection   that also was successful

Next step is to make sure my Services are started

Service Applications Manage Service applications

My new
User Profile Service Application shows an is started.

But I do not see User Profile SYNC service listed.

So I ran this command  install-spservice

When I go to Services on Server I do not see the SYNC service or my User Profile Service.

Any ideas?

Hi EE,

One user can't log into a Sharepoint 2010 site they are AD authenticated but when they try to sign they get a invalid credentials message. I have recreated the user in Sharepoint User administration no luck and double-checked their group assignments in AD and office 365 no issues.

How would troubleshoot this issue what logs would consult, any guidance is welcome?

Cheers.
