Microsoft SQL Server is a suite of relational database management system (RDBMS) products providing multi-user database access functionality.SQL Server is available in multiple versions, typically identified by release year, and versions are subdivided into editions to distinguish between product functionality. Component services include integration (SSIS), reporting (SSRS), analysis (SSAS), data quality, master data, T-SQL and performance tuning.

We are importing (Bulk Insert) of around half million records to the staging table and then to the production table.

More often column data type or size validation fails the bulk insert process from Staging table to the Production table.

I will have to redesign the process by SSIS packages by inserting all the good records from Staging to the Production and load the bad / error out data to the staging table. Those bad or error out data with proper validation message.

Validation message is based on first error out column. If the all the columns in that row are erroring, we can consider with the first column error and reload the data after fixing that data.

Example Error Message: Column PurchaseDate has invalid data

How do I achieve this complete workflow SSIS package. What are the controls, I need to use to start with?

Please :)

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.

How to design a Hierarchy based Table Relation?

To give an example: Organizational Chart. I am actually working on a Product based database.  Lacking in the design.

A real head scratcher

SQL Server 2005
Web Service .Net Framework 3.5
Symbol MC3190
VB.NET Compact Framework 3.5

Dates consumed by the compact framework are shifted by the difference in the timezone between the server and the client.

Luckily for me the fix was as just a matter of setting the client machines timezone to that of the server.

Just putting it out there in case someone runs into something similar.

Not meaning to be pedantic, but you actually get 31 days to complete the course :)  I've just gone through the first section myself and can highly recommend this course. The instructor and content is excellent. Very informative.

Ransomware-A Revenue Bonanza for Service Providers

Ransomware – malware that gets on your customers’ computers, encrypts their data, and extorts a hefty ransom for the decryption keys – is a surging new threat.  The purpose of this eBook is to educate the reader about ransomware attacks.

I'm glad to see Liquidweb is a new topic here. They have been my web host of choice since about 2008 or 9 and I have twenty some posts here on why I like LW https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28434976/recommend-a-hosting-provider.html#a40069498

They completely helped me from migration from a previous host and through several critical server upgrades VPS -> dedicated windows server 2003->2008->2012.  Whenever I have an issue, the person that takes the ticket is friendly and very knowledgeable. Other hosting services I have used, a help call or ticket starts at a low level and has to get escalated. At LW, 99% of the time, the person that you initially contact is the person that fixes the issue be it by submitted ticket or a panicky phone call.

One of the add on services I use for my dedicated server is continuous back up on my SQL Server drive. I have client billing systems on this server and one time did encounter a crash. Because of the continuous back up, no data was lost and everything was restored in quick manner.

Is it just me or is NoSQL Overapplied? It seems like in an effort to be as trendy as possible people shoehorn obviously relational problems into non relational schema. If you have to start throwing foreign keys on your objects I think you need to rethink your solution. Sarah Mei makes a good point about this in her article:

It was definitely over applied initially. Though, I think it's gotten better over the years. Part of it, too, is that a lot of the relational databases started incorporating NoSQL-like features (i.e. PostgreSQL and their JSON capabilities).
