- they won't stay right angle.  I can't figure out why.  I am connecting to connection points.  Any ideas what I can try?  This is Visio Pro 2013

I have Visio Standard 2013 32 bit.
I uploaded one of my vsdx to SharePoint and when I try to open it by copy-pasting the address in the Open window in Visio, I get an error saying that file <address>\BASFLO_U.VSSX is part of the workspace but cannot be opened.

Visio cannot open the file or component in the file because it is corrupt.

If I click OK, it keeps trying to open and displays the same message but using XFUNC_U,VSSX then using TITLE_U,VSSX and so on.

This does not happen when I do the same with Word, PowerPoint or Excel on my PC. Note that I have office 2016 installed on my PC.

Hello All!

I am new to Visio/VBA and am looking for code  that will export all textboxes on a page to excel. I do not want to use a shape report because I'd like to be able to loop this macro to export all textboxes, from all files in a designated folder.

Your help is MUCH appreciated, so thank you in advance!

I am a Microsoft Instructor of 21 years but have not been able to find an answer to a question I received in class today. After applying color to a Layer in a Workflow Diagram (We were on the Work Flow Steps stencil), only part of the shapes were outlined in the color - the rest of the shape disappeared. For example, one shape is called "Agreement" and is an image of two people with callouts over their heads and a checkmark in the middle. After applying color to the layer, only the checkmark remains (the people and callouts disappear).

Do you know if this is by design? Or is it a known issue in Visio 2016?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Hello,
I've been tasked with creating a module that will loop through all (single page) visio files in a folder to pull out all of the comments from each page/file. I've been using the macro in the link below to extract comments.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/898514/how-to-print-comments-that-are-inserted-by-reviewers-when-you-use-the
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can loop this code to run through all the files? Or how to create another macro that loops and will call this GetComments() function?

Thank you in advance!!

Hi,
I'm working on a project where I have 30 pages of diagrams that all interconnect. I have compiled all the diagrams into one document and would like to turn it in to a webpage as the people who need the document don't have access to visio. When I save my visio document as an html file, the web page does not zoom well and the diagrams and words become blurry. In my visio a lot of the boxes had hyperlinks to different sheets within the document. These links did not work once I opened the html file. I had to use the side bar to change pages on the website. Ideally I would prefer users of the website to click on a link in the diagram rather than click on or see the side bar with hyperlinks. Is this possible?

To sum it up, can I save my visio as a web page where the hyperlinks are maintained, users don't have to use the side bar, and zooming in and out of the webpage does not make the graphics and writing blurry.

I have created an application using Visual Studio Professional 2015 (Version 14.0.25431.01 Update 3) that utilizes Visio Viewer (Version 16.0.4339.1001).
When I install my application, I get "Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files (x86)\...\VVIEWER.DLL failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel."
I have researched and not found a solution. I have done all the basics .. windows is up to date, etc.
In my application I reference AxVisioViewer.
The application does run / work correctly - but I am concerned that the end users will not have a good install experience as they see this error during install.
(I also get the similar error when uninstalling - the failed to deregister error 1905).

Visio Viewer must be installed first. In Visual Studio, AxVisioViewer copy local set to yes (it will not work if set to no). Embed Interop Types - False. Specific version - False.
I have tried uninstalling Visio Viewer and installing my app, it will not run without Visio Viewer installed. I have re-installed visio viewer then re-installed my app - same error during installation. As stated, it works - but the user sees this error.
I am using InstallShield LE, and I am digitally signing my app / setup programs

Hello,

I saw a similar questions earlier regarding this subject, but I am still unable to get my excel data imported completely into a org. chart in Visio 2016. I have all of the correct columns and I have only one individual that does not have a "reports to" column, but it will continuously state that I have 80 plus employees with no match. I have tried using the wizard and without the wizard. I have everyone matched up in my excel in the "name" and "reports to" columns. I've been watching tutorials, but can't get past this step. Thank you for any tips!

Hello
Microsoft VISIO is a great tool for engineering students. I have used VISIO 2010 for creating all kinds of diagrams and figures and exported them to pdf for LaTEX documents. However, after upgrading to VISIO 2016, the pdf's are now framed. How can I remove those frames ?

Lots of discussions shape data, but I can't seem to find this simple case.

1. I have four rectangles in my drawing. Each rectangle represents a desk. These are the only shapes in the drawing.

2. I have imported an excel spreadsheet using the Custom Import tool (using all the default settings). My spreadsheet has two columns and 5 rows. The Desk_Name column will be the unique identifier.
Desk_Name | Employee_Name
Desk1              | Alice
Desk2               |Bob
Desk3             | Charlie
Desk4             | Alice

3. I want the text field of rectangle 1 to display Alice, rectangle 2 to display Bob, etc. Desk4 is occupied by fourth employee also named Alice. I don't want the Desk_Name displayed. I don't want any text to appear off to the side of the shape, like I see in most of the examples. The only text that should appear inside the rectangle is the employee name.

4. The text inside the rectangles should be updated if I change any of the employee names. I don't expect this to happen automatically; I'll have to hit a refresh button somewhere.

5. *Eventually* the drawing will have up to 144 desks, and of course I will increase the size of the spreadsheet to match.

As I said, total noob with shape data. I know I have to assign a unique identifier (DeskName?) to each rectangle, and I have to link the text field of that shape to a specific excel cell, but I don't know how to start. To me this seems a simple case, but all the examples I've seen are for…

Hi,

I have created a custom stencil in Visio to capture specific data for a process flow that I can export to Excel. Now that I have mapped out the process, I have started to manipulate the data in Excel. The process, however, has several flows and I need to determine which steps follow each other and are part of the same flow. In Visio this is easy because you can visually see the process, but in Excel everything is listed as a row and it's unclear.

Is there a way to add shape data that will determine the sequencing of the shapes once they are in exported in Excel? Perhaps using the Dynamic Connectors to link the shapes to each other?

Thanks,

Sean

Hi,

I am working on a project that has an excel data base imported and has almost 7000 rows and 5 columns. Each rows has a unique combination and each cell on the row will depict a block in visio. Now I would like to know if it is possible to create a diagram for each and every row separately which will have the 5 blocks? And is it possible to automatically connect those 5 blocks to each other based on the text in the block?

For example

One block will have the name FLAP AC this has to connect to a block named "AC" likewise.

Any leads will be appreciated. VBA Code or any method using Visio.

I can't get the Excel export to work with a Shape Report when I choose "Shapes on all pages".  It comes back with an error box that has no text and the Excel sheet is never created.  I'm using Vision Professional 2010.

Hello,

I have an Excel sheet I have inserted on a Visio Page which I would like to use to link to a few text boxes rather than copy the data and manually copy paste to the text boxes.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to link a specific Excel Cell to Visio Text boxes, possibly using the custom formula in the function feature?

WBS modeler not functioning - Cannot add child elements, nor do most options seem available. Followed this guide, results below:
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/chhopkin/2009/02/23/the-wbs-menu-is-not-available-after-installing-wbs-modeler-add-in-for-visio/

Running Windows 10 64 bit, Visio Pro 2010 32 bit.
1) Installed WBS 32 bit Modeler, install went well, but the template does not work correctly.
2) In developer mode, confirmed that the add-in is not listed/available in the COM options (not present)
3) Added the .NET Programmability Support, no change
4) No other add-ins present, un/reinstalled Visio and modeler, no change
5) Tried installing the MS 2010 PIA, but it does not appear to execute, just loads partially (image attached), then appears to fail (window disappears).

I'm out of ideas... Anyone know why the PIA isn't installing, or another work around to get WBS Modeler functioning?

We have a computer lab with Office 2013 and for some reason various computers show less/more shapes in Visio Pro 2013 than others.
I can do a search on one computer and find nothing, but the next computer (same image/software) has multiple results.  I've tried googling this but nothing seems pertinent.
We've also noted that searching for the same term (circle, point, truck, whatever) sometimes populates more items the more times we searched.  Are the shapes downloaded as needed from MS?  Students are unable to complete some of their lab work as the shapes are not available, despite being the Professional edition which, to my knowledge, provided all shapes.
We have DeepFreeze on the computers if that matters.

When I try to auto number specific shapes in Visio, the option to select the shapes is grayed out.  What causes it to be grayed out and how do I get access to that?

Hi
Does anyone know of a good tool to do benefit logic mapping, which is visual (flow-chart type) mapping of activities with objectives.
I use visio at the moment but its slow going when doing in a workshop, and its only provides 2d info.  A good tool would have extra features such as allow extra information about each box to be provide in another layer.

Thanks

I had this question after viewing visio (may also apply to excel ? ) how do you make a table of contents page with other page names?.

I solved an additional problem related to this issue.  If you have a list of existing Visio pages, you must duplicate the page and then apply the custom formula to the duplicated page.  I have done the following:

1.  Duplicated a page

2.  The page will be created with a name of "Page-x"

3.  I create the formula on the title page ""5.    "&Pages[Page-x]!ThePage!PAGENAME()"
 -   Note:  Please disregard "5.    ", I am appended this as a list of pages, so I obviously need numbers as well

4.  I verify that the page number is the same as the intended page.

5.  I change the "page-x" name to the appropriate name and add an additional "1" at the end by copying and pasting

6.  Verify the Title Page reflect the full name with the "1"

7.  I delete the original page

8.  I go to the renamed page and remove the "1"

9.  Verify the on the TItle Page that the "1" was removed for the page name

10.  Repeat until all pages have been changed

Dear Experts,

I am working in visio2010 to create/open an UML diagrams. For the first(after the installation) if open an UML diagrams the UML tab appears in the visio2010. After some days if I open the same diagram, the UML tab is disappears. I am not sure why? If I do the un-install of visio and install then open the same diagram the UML tab is  appearing. Could you please help me to resolve this issue?

Also if I copied an UML diagram form one sheet to another some new fields are appearing, I don't know why it is appearing.  I have attached the screen shot of this diagram and highlighted the
new field with rose color, and unable to delete this extra fields, it throws an error as
"shape protection container and/or layer properties prevent execution of this command". Could you please help this issue too?

Hello,

Either my understanding of connection points in inadequate or I am not doing something quite right.

I have made a simple shape consisting of three grouped lines (lines not connectors). After the lines are grouped I add two connection points; I do this properly because the connection points are listed in the shape-sheet. If the shape is selected and moved over a connector line it will be able to attach at either end of the wire.

If the wire I'm trying to attach it to is attached to another object then it won't attach. I'll attach the images.

Thanks for any help
