Hi Experts,

I am trying to create a mail merge that is output to address labels with a unique Licence Number defined by an Excel file (attached).
I've also attached the .docx file.

My problem is that the Preview of the merge output shows the same Licence Number for each label.

This is what the .docx file looks like:

I cannot see a Next Record option on the menu:

I'm trying to copy text to the clipboard from the command line. If I try something simple like:

ECHO test | CLIP

it works fine and puts the word test in the clipboard. My problem is that I have a special character (specifically an ampersand) in the text I want to copy and it makes the clip utility choke:

ECHO http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/track?track=yes&trackNums=1ZV300F20358346597 | CLIP

If I try the same text without the ampersand, it works fine so I know it's the ampersand that is causing the problem.

I tried using quotation marks like this:

ECHO "http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/track?track=yes&trackNums=1ZV300F20358346597" | CLIP

That gets rid of the error but the quotation marks get copied to the clipboard, too.

Any ideas?

Aren't out of the box Styles in Word (2016) like

Heading 1
Heading 2
Heading 3

auto-updating in terms of font size?  They show themselves to be "Based on Normal"  But, I updated the Normal text size to 18.  Then, started using Heading 1 - it was just 16.  And, Heading 2 just 13.

I even went further and selected both of these with a check box "Auto Updating".

How can I get my Headings 1 ~ x default styles to update themselves in terms of Font Size in Word?

Hi,

How can I have my MS Word document apps open in the same location and size as it was last open.  I have to open a whole bunch of word documents but every time I open one it always to the left side (never the same place) - i would like to set the Microsoft Word apps to open in a specific side and size.  is that possible?

Weird problem here.  Thru windows explorer, if I double click on a file, could be pdf, word or excel.  The computer takes about a minute and a half to load the program and open the file.  If I open a program and use the file open option select the same file, it loads it immediately.  This happens with every file I have tested so far.

I tried disabling all startup options and disabling the antivirus.  That didn't help.

We are having a strange issue when we try to add a network printer to a Windows 10 1903 machine. We are adding a shared printer from a 2008 R2 print server, it does not seem to matter what print driver is on the share. When we double click on it it does add it since you can print from Word and Notepad, but it does not show up in "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners"

We noticed this on our customized image, so we tried hand loading a 1903 machine without any other software and still the same issue. We also hand loaded a 1709 desktop and on there, everything worked as is should. It seems the problem is only occurring on 1903

Has anyone else ran into this?

Hi, I have just noticed that when I try to make Firefox smaller by clicking on the center (square) type icon on the upper right, it just kind of re positions the full screen but does not make it smaller.  I tried it on Chrome and it worked just fine as well as Excel and Word.  I want to have an excel document take up the left half of the screen while I look stuff up in Firefox on the right side of the screen.  I've never run into this before and would appreciate your help.

I am bringing in an xml file into word to create a report. This is being done using a plugin from oracle called BI Publisher.  I believe you do not need to be familiar with this to answer my question.

The field I am trying to display is a blob - Employee Photo. In Microsoft word's properties the text form field is a 'regular text with maximum length - unlimitted.

The image is being displayed in a column of a table.  When the employee has no photo, huge blank spaces result. ie the table rows span many pages with no data.

The xml handling this field, employee photo,  in the plug is :
 <fo:instream-foreign-object content-type=”image/jpg” height=”70 px” width=”55 px”><xsl:value-of select=”B.EMPLOYEE_PHOTO”/></fo:instream-foreign-object>



So my questions are :
1. Should the Blob be interpreted as numeric or text?  When I change the photo field to numeric, the report format is fine.  However, you get the photo displaying with numbers and people without photo's are blank but do the table rows spanning many pages.

2. Can I wrap the xml statments to ignore displaying  B.EMPLOYEE_PHOTO is blank and how would I do this?

I am trying to search a document for numbers that could be anything from 1 (or 1.) to 999.999.999.999.999. Is there any way that I can do this, say using wildcards, without needing to use several passes?

Using Word 2010.  Need code for inserting the document filename and path (c:\docs\document1.doc) on the left side and date and time on the other side of a footer but only on the last page of a document.  Using 8-pt. Times New Roman.

Goal is to have a toolbar button for users. I know nothing about VBA.

I am copying over pages of OneNote (version 2016) to Word 2010 to prepare an extended document.  I have noticed that when copying over, the indents/bullets are off (not all the times, but most).  Can an expert help on how to properly copying OneNote pages to a word document as precise as possible preserving the OneNote bullets and indents locations.

Need to create a macro that will search through a word document and change numbers to a different number format based on their original value. The macro has to be able to search through the entire document and only update the exact number with the change - not any other variant of the number (e.g. change 1.00 to 0001 but do not change 11.00 to 10001 - NOTE: 11.00 should change to 0011 instead). So - I want to search for specific numbers and change them throughout the whole document. The numbers are sequential, but I do not want earlier numbers to change numbers later in the document (see previous example).

There are words associated with each numbered row - see bottom of attached file.

Good day,
We have a VM host that runs two server machines.  The first is the DC/FS and it works great.  The second machine is a terminal server.  It constantly is freezing on the users and it is getting frustrating.  Here is some info:

Host machine is running Server 2016 Standard.  Its specs are:

HPE Proliant DL380 G9
Xeon E5-2620 v3
32GB RAM
RAID 10 for the virtual disks

Server is stable, no issues.

The host machine allocates a large portion of RAM to the DC and the TS.  The DC currently has 8GB and 8 virtual processors.  The TS has 10GB RAM, and also 8 virtual processors.  Originally I had the TS with less RAM and processors, but in trying to fix the freezing issue, I increased the resources.  I plan on bringing them back down.

The TS has only 3 users signing in.  They use the same domain account to log in to the server.  The TS is configured to allow the same user to log in multiple times.  It is light usage.  The TS exists to run only one program.  While using that program, the users may open Word or Adobe, but not much of anything else.  About 4 or 5 times a day, the server just stops responding to that user.  The other users logged in do not experience the same.  It will just spin and spin.  The remote connection never breaks.  Frustrated, they just click the x on the top blue ribbon, and re-log back in.  Then its totally normal until it freezes again.  

During the freeze, the internet is working normally, the others users aren't affected.  A VPN …

Hello:

Is "Blank" the only type of Sales Order Processing invoice that can print to Word template format?  I noticed that, if you choose "Other", GP does not seem to let you print an aesthetically pleasing looking document in either Template or Standard format.

Secondly, with being tied down to that one Blank format, is there any way of modifying the invoice for multiple lines of business?

Let me see if can explain.  One set of customers needs to have the sales invoice displaying one way, while the other sets of customers need to have the sales invoice displaying differently.

Can this be done out of the box?

Where on page 14 and page 23 I have done this:

Pressed the dash-key three times and touched the enter-key and it done a whole solid line across the page...

How would I DELETE this line I have tried but cannot do it lol...

I have a Word 365 document 7 pages long. The header needs to start on page 2, and contain the document title which does not change, and the phrase "Page N" (no quotes) where N is the number of the page. The header begins on page 2 and should show "Page 2".

I have tried in vain and while I can get the number 2 on page 2, there is no numbering after this.

Please do not give me any links to microsoft support - I have tried them all...

I have around 10 users that need to convert PDF's into Word and I am trying to find a solution for this without to have to spend too much money buying licenses.

Do you know a solution for that?

Hi Experts

Windows 10 & Word 365 64-bit - I am trying to use the attached code to list available printers. It works successfully on 32-bit but does not on 64-bit. It appears to correctly identify that there are  5 printers but does not return the names - just the string of spaces.

I've worn Google out, and I've tried every combination I can think of regarding variable types, but I'm just not getting anywhere. Ideally, I need this to work on 32-bit and 64-bit and so have avoided the LongLong variable type.

Hoping someone knows the answer. Many thanks in advance.

How to print a PDF Saddle Stitched booklet?

I am having trouble using Word to print a booklet, and used ILovePDF.com to convert a Word booklet to the attached PDF.

This booklet appear to be intact. But, I can not get the PDF to print, using Adobe Acrobat (PDF), on my Mac, using an HP MFP M127fw.

Here is the Print window...

I select to print from pages 1 to 1 and that bring out 2 pages.

IF they were on the same sheet, opposite sides, they wold be correct.

What can you suggest I do to make it stop so I can flip the page??

I also just discovered some juicy details that probably hold the answer.

I have a MS Access form using VBA for a field after the update.  The code is checking for a character in another field to determine what code is executed:

   
    If InStr(Nz(Me.LNotes, 0), "ß") = 0 Then
        Me.LastStatus = Now()
    Else........

All is working fine however I just noted that if the field (LNotes - memo field) has the word "Processing" the initial code in the IF statement is NOT executed even if the character ß is not present.

Any idea why this might be?  I have been using this code for years.
