Mobile web development, also known as responsive web design, is an approach to web design aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing and interaction experience—easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling—across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones). A site designed with RWD adapts the layout to the viewing environment by using fluid, proportion-based grids, flexible images, and CSS3 media queries.

Controlling access to your mailserver can be a bit of a hassle. We have therefore implemented that only ActiveSync devices (aka Mobile Devices) can connect to our Exchange server(s) from the internet.
Each device requires that access is being granted to the device before proceeding. A relatively simple way to prevent someone random from setting up an e-mail client from an unknown device.
Is there a similar way, and add-on or something that can control Outlook Clients? Since Outlook is not using activesync and is not treated as a mobile device, you cannot manage access AFAIK.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Dear Experts,

I have configured the Sonicwall TZ210's router IP Address and DHCP.

I can also manage the 3G Mobile broadband by turning on and off

But I can't seem to get to the internet.

Is there something I missed from the Connection Profile?

We have created a custom Outlook form and would like mobile users to be able to view it as well.  Is this at all possible, maybe with an app?

To avoid traffic when the connection is slow, I want to check the strength of the signal.

Then I would show a warning if it's only GRPS or Edge and send only important data packages, and if it's at least 3G oder 4G LTE then I would transfer bigger content with more details.

So, how can I find out the strength of the signal using Delphi XE8 on a Firemonkey App for iOS (and for Android)?

Needing to find a mobile notifications app as a tool to bring attention to various news worthy and news alerts.  The department director’s vision is to draw attention to information we web publish.  The end user would have ability to configure their app for only items of their personal interest.

I see needing some backend push notification script that would hand out snippets or tweets with a link back the the website for more detail if requested by end user.  The data format would obviously need to be designed for mobile screen viewing and include text, audio, and video options.   I think ideally, at the same time these headlines and short articles are published, a script runs that would do the push notification.

Hopefully already something out there?    Maybe WhatsAPP kind of thing?   The website is done with WordPress.

Hi,

I'm looking for some documentation on how people incorporated BYOD for mobile devices.  Along with how you approached the following:

- Stipend - How much, and how you handled the taxing for the device
- How you handled support
- How you handled Security - We have AirWatch - any special process under air watch, or suggestions
- Employee waiver or acknowledgment forms?
- Any other suggestions & Best practices.

Thanks - Chris

Hi,

I have an existing website that was built in Dreamweaver using a template. I now need to make the site mobile friendly. I've began researching today, but all it's really done is confuse me. From what I understand if I want to make it responsive I would have to rebuild the entire site. Is there an easier way to create a mobile site and place it into the root folder and just check for a mobile device? I've seen people reference Bootstrap and Muse. Is that something I could use to create a mobile site? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We are deploying some iPads to our sales force. I am wondering if I can use a generic Apple ID to load a few free apps to the iPad's before giving them to the sales person. Ultimately they will use their own Apple ID on the devices but I would like to have a few apps already loaded instead of instructing them to download them. Is this allowed?

I am interested in developing a mobile app to track GPS devices, and am curious which among the mobile-friendly mapping sources would best meet my needs.

I'm looking for either a free service, or a low-cost one, which is scalable, lightweight and able to render points quickly.

My source data will have 10-20 thousand records (and hopefully more moving forward), and approximately 20 fields of data, although my API might not expose all records and all fields depending on the call.

Note that I'm interested in using a framework such as PhoneGap or Ionic to develop in one language and compiled into native Android or iOS code.  If there are considerations for how the different free or low-cost mobile-friendly mapping sources would play with those frameworks (or the code they produce), thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Hello, I created a simple webpage with javascript: it calculates the amount of brewer's yeast, water, salt, flour you need to make pizza.

It is here:
http://www.laconfraternitadellapizza.net/calcolapizza/

I'd like to set this up as a simple Android app (and eventually iOS).

So I was wondering, is there a way I can do this without having to spend months studying android app development?

Thanks.

I have a 3rd party developer, developing the customer (front end) mobile application and the language of the contract doesn't specify Unit Testing. The only clause mentions delivering the code according to industry standards. I am late into the picture and cannot redact the contract. As it stands, do you know if anyone's definition of Industry Standards includes the creation/execution of Unit Testing?

Thank you,

We are looking at using InTune for Mobile Device Management. We are an SCCM house, and have ADFS for externals. I have been told that there needs to be an alignment of versions of SCCM - InTune - ADFS, but can't find any reference to it. Any ideas please?

Why would a person have 4 phone numbers? One for calls and texts, one for tablet. But why another for only texts, and then yet another for only data transfer?

I'm trying to get a look at a good mobile or responsive cart. When I go to these websites on mobile emulators, the page is blank. I'm curious, what do you see on a real smartphone?

http://www.jcpenney.com/

http://kohls.com

http://overstock.com

Thanks, this is really just curiosity, but I'll give the points to the first person who answers. Screenshots would be nice.  If person one answers without screenshots and person two answers with screenshots, I'll split the points.

I have a site that uses a php script in the index page to detect if the user is on a mobile device. If they are, it displays a mobile version of a form they can submit for information. The form will submit successfully from the root but the same form will not send from a subsite in a folder that contains a different index page with the same code in it. Javascript is used in the page to validate fields and control the submit function.

You cannot see the live mobile version form except from a mobile phone. What would you need to troubleshoot this issue?

The form that works is here: abmoving.com
The form that does not work is here: abmoving.com/houston

You can click the CALL ME button without entering any info in and it will show an error in red text at the top of the form on the one that works.
The second one does nothing when you click the sending button.

Here is a section of code used to format the form and to validate and submit the form:

<div id="orcallus">Call Us:</div>
		<div id="ourphone"><a href="tel:7133886284">713-388-6284</a></div>
<div id="thanks2">Thank you! We will contact you shortly.</div>
		<div id="form2">
				<div id="contactform">Or WE'LL CALL YOU...use our handy Form</div>
				<div id="error" style="display:none;font-weight:bold;color:red;">Please enter valid information for all fields.</div>
				<div class="mobile_name">Name</div>
				<input id="mobile_name2" type="text" />
				<div class="mobile_phone">Phone</div>

First I would like to say that our domain is a .local and not a FQDN in active directory.   Ex.  john.local
Exchange 2010 sp1
Originally setup with a self signed cert
OWA is using http
mobile clients are not using ssl (but we would like to turn this on)

Things we have tried:

Creating a signed Certificate (for this we did have change the entries to be .com to be able to get a certificate)

1- Backup the existing directories from the exchange management shell

Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | Select InternalUrl,BasicAuthenticationExternalUrl,Identity | Format-List

Get-OabVirtualDirectory | Select InternalURL,ExternalURL,Identity | FL

Get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory | Select InternalUrl,ExternalUrl,Identity | fl

2- Set the directories to use .com names

Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "EXCH-1\EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalURL https://exchange.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx -BasicAuthentication:$true

Set-OabVirtualDirectory -Identity "EXCH-1\OAB (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://exchange.domain.com/OAB

set-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory -Identity "EXCH-1\Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl "https://exchange.domain.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync"

3- Enable outlook anywhere and configure it

Use the EMC to enable Outlook Anywhere
You need to be assigned permissions before you can perform this procedure. To see what permissions you need, see the "Outlook Anywhere configuration settings" entry in the …

This is a related question I asked last week....My previous question

I downloaded VS 2015 and I can add Xamarin to it for app development.

(This is a general question and there might not be a definite answer to it)...I was reading this article Article

And mobile development is on the list. What do companies who hire app developers look for?...
a. To know Java (or Objective C)?
b. Use tools like Xamarin or PhoneGap and use C# (in my case)?  (like VS 2015)

I have a Java developer coworker who does Android app development. He says learning Java to do app development is the way to go.

Hi,
I am trying to use a .htaccess redirect to redirect mobile phone users to a mobile site. The issue I am having is the redirect is working but it's applying it to all visits. Including PC users. Am I right to user the HTTP_USER_AGENT?  I only want mobile users to be redirected. Below is a copy of the contents of my .htaccess  can anyone see why it would redirect all users?

Thanks in advance

Matt
