MultiMedia Applications

Multimedia applications are those programs that integrate more than one media at a time; browsers are the most obvious. However, the term has come to include the use of programs that enable the use of any component that isn’t simple text and static graphics, such as audio, video, animation, virtual reality, conferencing and monitoring.

As you may know,  Adobe will be ending support for its Flash player about a year from now.

With the major browsers already blocking Flash-powered players, I am looking for a very simple replacement. I want to put 4 or 5 of those players on one page, make it small and simple, to provide an audio "promo" for each one that I will change weekly.

I have been using Dewplayer, which did the job extremely well, but since it was Flash based, it's trashed now.

I've done some searching the past couple of days and I don't see much of anything that jumps out at me.

Can anyone recommend something that will get this job done?

Mac (Mojave) Browser Speaker Failure

My speaker works fine, but sometimes, when I play a video in the browser, there is no sound.

I see the volume is set to max. This is true for Chrome, Safari, and probably other browsers.

I saw the other day, I had that problem but right clicked and saw a menu. I chose "unmute" to make the sound play.

It's as if there is a mute which is not supported by certain web pages.

We are following instructions to burn to disc one (1) mp4 video. The first program did create the audio_ts and video_ts folders
In the image you see a mention of a file system. It also mentions using your own favorite burning software. Efforts to burn these two files (audio_ts and video_ts has failed.
What is this file system?
What other programs can you suggest. It's one video to play before a group of people so we need the video to play on a table top player and I try not to pay for a program since it's only one video needed. Thanks.
The burner recommended along side the above program that created the file structure, was to locate the folders and move them to another folder. Here they are and the chosen burner is getting errors when trying to just add the folders to the burning program.
I've got issue of Adobe flash player in Chrome and how to set it up properly?
AWS, Speech Recognition and AWS

I have heard AWS has an excellent Speech Recognition web API, and wonder if anyone knows of a complete speech recognition app which uses this AWS API?

Apparently, the demo emails you the translation and I hear the translation is great.

Anybody got any leans on an app that can handle speech to text?

We are trying to create a new folder for the audio and video folders you see in the screen shot. The app data folder is a hidden folder. What would be the best way to move those two folders so DVD Styler can find them? Thanks.
Sony Walkman Remote Control Commander RM-MZ2S for MiniDisc Player.

The yellow arrow points to a part that appears to be intended to be removed. I am unable to get it off. I guess this is where a AAA battery might be located.
The small arrow points to a rubber button of some sort for some unknown purpose.
Would this device require a battery?
Is there any software out there (preferrably free, maybe garage band)  that I could use to put together some acoustic guitar chords to go along with singning?  I am using a MAC

Some time back I had experts help me with a bunch old DVD I wanted to put in the cloud.  Today I have a series of DVD that the computer just doesn't recognize as to "No DVD  in D: drive".  I have checked the DVD and seem somewhat dirty or grimy or scratch? (that is my appreciation) - when I place them in my hands they do seema bit scratched and some grime "maybe" in some places; I say grime because if I press it it smudges  somewhat (if u take a cloesup on certain areas u can see them).  So i would like to know if you guys can take a look at the image and recommend if there is a way to fix them or clean them or what can I do to be able to have my computer read them.

Our company is standing up a small media group who'll be generating weekly videos. We want to do this right, and have a video management system in place from the very beginning. We want something that can work with both local and cloud storage, stores metadata for the videos, and can ideally show clips from the videos in search results. Can anyone recommend something like this?

We have an AB switch so we can use 1 monitor, 1 keyboard, 1 set of speakers, 1 mouse for two systems each having their own power cord  (W10, Vista). Everything works fine except occasional speaker issues.
The power cord for the speakers plugs into the back of the Vista system. Then the green and pink tied together as a black wires goes to the switch. From there a green goes to the main speaker. I'm not using the pink. From the main speaker a green goes to the second speaker.
I was using to Vista system and listening to a Youtube video and got high volume. Sound was coming from both speakers. I turned that system off and switched from the Vista to W10 system by clicking the AB switch to W10. I opened the same Youtube video and the volume was lower. I put the main speaker and the second speaker to my ear and heard no sound.
I unplugged the secondary speaker and still heard sound. I unplugged the main speaker from the switch and still heard sound. I unplugged the green wire from the back of the Vista system that sends sound to the switch and still heard no sound so the sound heard is coming from inside the Vista system.
Why is no sound getting to the main speaker through the switch?
I just found this out:

A number of gaming, education, and video sites still use Flash, and Adobe says it remains committed to supporting the technology until 2020 alongside partners like Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla. Microsoft says it plans to disable Flash by default in Edge and Internet Explorer in mid to late 2019, with a full removal from all supported versions of Windows by 2020. Google will continue phasing out Flash over the next few years, while Mozilla says Firefox users will be able to choose which websites are able to run Flash next month and allow Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) users to keep using Flash until the end of 2020.

My site,, has used a modified Flash player for years. While the big change is a year away, I'd like to start the obviously necessary overhaul now. It looks like I'll need a new player that can play the mp3 files I use, and I would like it to work across multiple browsers as well as on cell phones if possible. (Note: for cell phone usage, I do not use an app; I encourage interested parties to simply go to the website, the design of which makes it easy to select and listen to your preferred "channel.") Also note that this option is not available at present on most phones.

Lots of work to be done. Experts, what are your suggestions?
Hardware:  Lenovo T510 laptop with External 2TB USB WD My Passport drive.    Operating System is WIndows 10 1903 version.
Over 1.2TB of songs on the external USB Drive.  (Note: there are only USB 2.0 ports on this laptop).
Problem:  Using WIndows Media Player - but the database keeps getting corrupted.
What I have tried:   1) Disabled Windows Media player, rebooted, then re-enabled Windows Media Player.   No difference.
2) From an elevated command prompt, registered jbscript.dll and vbscript.dll.   No effect.
3) Saved off all the files in C:\users\(current user)\appdata\local\microsoft\Media Player      and then deleted them.    Windows Media Player rebuilt the CurrentDatabase_400.wmdb (which took about 4 hours).   Then everything seemed to work fine.   However, when I closed Windows Media Player and then re-opened a couple of times, I got a message that the database was corrupted.   It renamed the database to "CorruptDatabase_400.wmdb" and is now re-creating the CurrentDatabase_400.wmdb.

Any Suggestions...   I worry that the size of the music library on the external USB 2.0 drive is causing the corruption - but, not sure how to tell for sure...
The music apps or audio apps of iPhone X is somewhat limited.  I need to advance within the audio or the song X amount of seconds; iPhone X music or audio apps doesn’t do this - when pressing advance, it jumps to the start or the next audio.   Please advice on a iPhone X music or aduos apps that I can use to listen and jump where I want.

Thank u guys!

What's the best/easiest way to create a diagram or template which will overlie any content on the screen?

For example, suppose you create some type of diagram using PowerPoint as shown here:

Is there a way to save the diagram as some kind of image file which can then be displayed (outside of PowerPoint or any other application) to overlie (ie be always-on-top) whatever apps/windows may be active or displayed on the screen — such as the EE website:

Need a free screen recorder

I have a video maker program. The project is an mp4 with lyrics as an overlay. The image you see below is a screen shot of what I see when I watch the "rendered" video on VLC media player. The video maker works fine, the lyrics overlay fine, the preview from start to finish plays fine. It's the rendered result on the desktop that is not playing normally. Tiles are seen at various places. When the rendered version is uploaded to Vimeo the result plays fine and normal. No tiles. However I need to burn the video so it plays on a DVD player hooked to a TV. The only way to burn it to a blank disc is from the rendered video on the desktop.

VLC is failing to play normally the video. Why and the solution since I prefer VLC due to the higher levels of volume.
It plays fine on Windows Media Player and can a video be burned from WMP that will play on a table top DVD player?

Hi guys,
Does anyone knows of a good freeware screen video recorder.
I have tried a few but they record for just a limited amount of time say 10 minutes or have watermarks.

We are looking for software to be able to do things people who post or stream videos do such as:
* record desktop, add annotations, notes, highlight parts of the screen, use webcam, insert pictures, videos, music, sounds, export is as watchable video, add animations,
* edit large video files we take with our dental camera, remove sound, improve lighting, add sounds/music, export videos, convert videos
* create how-to guides using the above
* any features which we might find useful or good/necessary that we are not aware of yet

We found Snagit and Hitfilm Express as being very good, but we wonder if there is anything better with more features.
We do not mind paying for software. We have Windows devices. The person using it is computer literate but didn't do any picture or video editing before so it can't be toooo difficult but we understand that she will have to learn how to use it.

thanks in advance

The user has a current TiVo Bolt.  They have home videos that they have digitized, currently in .avi format.

They have a Synology NAS

Can they store their videos on the NAS, and play them back using their TiVo?

Is it possible to get this conversion to vp9 without buying a download version of a product?

Assistance is greatly appreciated.
I have a Minix U9-H Android TV box (Running Marshmallow)

The primary application is Kodi within this I've been able to connect via fixed IP address to shares on my Windows 7 PC (A password protected user account has been created to aid this) and play media files etc.

How do I connect to the PC outside Kodi (I note ES File explorer is no longer on the play store, Google searches suggest to use )

I'd also like to access the Minix U9-H file system from the PC I tried putting the IP address into Win Explorer with failed

The PC and Minix U9-H are connected via a wired LAN

My reasons for doing this are MySQL Setting_up_Kodi this needs to be able to copy files between devises
I have a video and I want to add the lyrics at the bottom. I'm finding the video with lyrics but the person who uploaded it to YT failed and there is a skip in the video.
The audience will be Hispanic and I want them to see the lyrics in English as the video plays. Thanks.
We have got to do some testing around storage of image and video files on our users stored on our users home drives on a windows file server. I have got a big inventory file of all file names, size, last accessed/modified/written etc, which includes file extensions. But there seems to be endless list of possible extensions now listed with video, audio and image files.

I only have to check a sample and so wondered what would you say are maybe the top 3-5 most common file extensions to be associated with image files & video files on windows based systems.  These files will go back literally 10 years so the more common extensions for such file types in 2009 may be much different to those in 2019 (or it may be similar).
I've asked dumb questions before so why not another. In creating a business card for the church the Facebook web address takes up to much space so the pastor wants to replace that with just the Facebook logo. The card template has a image space on the right and text lines on the left.

Since a logo (image) can not be converted to a letter(s) (??) I only see two choices:

a. Take the photo of the church and add the FB logo to the bottom of the photo of the church.
b. There is an extra text line under the photo so I could just enter "see (or join) us on Facebook, and not use the FB logo.

Any other options? Thanks.
