MultiMedia Applications

Multimedia applications are those programs that integrate more than one media at a time; browsers are the most obvious. However, the term has come to include the use of programs that enable the use of any component that isn’t simple text and static graphics, such as audio, video, animation, virtual reality, conferencing and monitoring.

Could someone advise me how you could set something up on AWS that would be like or exactly a streaming media server? I use that term because I heard others call it that. I want to play media from a website, and I do not want the user to be able to download the content. I do not mean something that is simple like; not have a download button. I mean when the user comes to the site with things like IDM it just cannot be done. I would like to accomplish this most simply. I do not want to pay anybody for this I want to learn about the technology to accomplish this myself. I am not asking how to do it; I am asking what technology do I have to learn about and implement on AWS to accomplish this (keywords links etc.). Thanks

Need a voice support that is not TOO loud

I need to give a tour to about 10-20 people in a public area, but my voice does not carry very far. And if the wind is up, it's even harder.

But I do not want to use one of those megaphones. They are loud and use up one hand. I would prefer some sort of clip-on microphone, that uses BlueTooth to connect to portable speakers.

Can I WEAR a small speaker? Is that possible?

Or I guess I could pull a small speaker behind me, but that would also need a battery.

Suggestions?

I am more looking for suggestions.  We are a portable church, meaning we setup and tear down every week, but we have use of multiple rooms in a building.  We want to be able to "stream" our service from the main auditorium to another location in the building.  I was planning on doing this via Facebook Live, but there are those above me that do not want to do this.  They prefer to keep it local, meaning we have the camera and we stream it internally.  I have access to physical cabling, so I could set this up to at least run over a network, but can anyone provide me some guidance on how I would "stream" without putting it on the internet?

Hi All,

I am using 6 Sonos speakers in multiple rooms at the same floor.
There are 2 accespoints with the same channel and same SSID .

When one accespoints is online the most 2 far removed speakers stutter sometimes or loses connection, the other speakers wont stutter or lose connection when this happends.

If I connect both accespoints then only 1 or 2 speakers keep working while it has the same configuration as the other accespoint.

I tried several things like changing the channels or disable mesh encryption but Sonos keeps failing.

I searched online for multiple options but it seems a lot of people have issues with the Sonos speakers with multiple accespoints in the same configuration.

Does anyone here know a solution so i can use all my Sonos speakers at once over 2 accespoints?

Kind Regards,

Agrippa

How to give web seminars securely?

When I give a web seminar, is it always possible for the viewer to record his desktop and snag a video of my desktop?

I assume it is.

I have no problem with that, unless it gets posted somewhere. Ouch!

But, what about the audio?

I suppose that would also "come along for the ride" if the person were using the web for audio. But wouldn't that be a bit tricky?

If the person was on a conference bridge using the normal telephone system, they'd need to match up the audio with the video. Also, a pretty simple things to do.

Am I worried for good reason? I hear of someone posts a video of my seminar, there is little I can do to stop it.

Curious.

Thanks.

I can't seem to play Blu Ray discs on the my laptop anymore.  I pop them in and nada,  Toshiba Blu Ray Disc player opens but nothing after that it just wont play it.  had this before But can't remember how I fixed it. I think its a codec issue.  how can I update it?

It's Win 7 64-bit Toshiba Qosmio X870  laptop.    toshiba blu ray disc player 1.0.5.214

I don't want to buy a new player either.

says this in the manual

6.2 AACS Key Update
AACS key is essential part of Blu-ray disc playback, new AACS key is required when old AACS key expired. When that happens, Player will prompt to download new key from internet. Please make sure your PC is connected to internet at that time.
If old key is used, new release Blu-ray title may not play in your player.
It is highly recommended to download new AACS key to keep playability of your player.

How can I do that never seen a popup for one.  constantly connected to the internet as well..

What services can be restarted in Windows 7 if audio fails when joining a WebEx
conference? My system audio for mic and speakers tend to work fine for Zoom meeting
and Skype. WebEx has had problems and I have to have it call my cell phone instead of
just using the headphones on the laptop.

Hi,

We are unsure whether to use Spotify or Tidal for streaming music.

We would like to use the best music streaming service.

Pros for Spotify (Premium):

- We have a lot of albums and playlists setup with Spotify
- We are familiar with Spotify's interface.
- Spotify (Premium) is €10 a month where Tidal (HiFi) costs €20 a month

Pros for Tidal (HiFi):

- Tidal has lossless audio quality of 1411 kbps
- Tidal seems to have a larger catalog of songs available

I heard that you can't hear the difference in audio quality past 320 kbps.

We would like to only use one of these two music streaming services.

Which service would you recommend as being the best audio streaming service between Spotify and Tidal to use?

Thanks,
Robbie

Need to charge by the minute for online seminars

I have a subject which is super captivating...but so new, people may fear spending money up front for a ticket to my inline seminar.

I'd like to find a way to "charge by the minute".

When they cut out, their bill is calculated.

There could be the first five minutes free, for example.

Does this exist??

Thanks.

I have a video clip that is 15 seconds long. (film grain) stock footage. My goal is to overlay this (film grain stock footage that is 15 seconds long) over another video that is ..lets say 2 minutes long. I would like to know, in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018 how do I adjust the length of the 15 seconds video clip to 2 minutes long, without adjusting the speed? I would like to keep the speed the same but only adjust the length of the video clip to something longer. Can this be done in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018? I remember VEGAS doing this so easily.

Are there video encoders that encode video in fixed duration streamlets and repeat audio frames if the duration of audio frames is different from the duration of a video segment to fill up the video streamlet?

Hello,

Does anyone know of an on-screen ruler or measuring tool that is very customizable?

I have found several downloadable ruler apps online (which are said to be able to display lengths in pixels/centimeters/inches) but most of them are old or inaccurate or in another language.

For example I'm using a 28" 4K 3840x2160 monitor (Acer CB281HK) which is set to 150% scale. I also have an AutoHotkey (AHK) script* which enables me to capture the pixel coords of any location currently occupied by the mouse cursor. Thus, it's simple to check a particular screen location to test a ruler for accuracy.

I don't necessarily need freeware and would be willing to pay a reasonable price for some utility or app if it is accurate, can be rotated to any degree setting, can be set to always-on-top, and is adjustable.

By "adjustable", I mean to some percentage of the default. For example, some rulers return a pixel length 2/3 of actual which indicates they are not compensating for my screen being set to 150% scale. That seems easy to fix by having a scaling box to enter the 150%.

Another setting in which this would be useful is sometimes when I use Windows Media Player (WMP), I would like to have an always-on-top time indicator. So for example, I'm currently watching a video that is 32 minutes long and by mousing over the bottom of WMP, I can see a numerical indicator showing where I am in the video vs the video length (eg 20:23/32:34). But that goes away as soon as …

This burned DVD would not play on a mini Magnovox DVD player at church. It also failed to play on another brand of mini DVD player. Mini may just be new styles maybe an inch thick and not much bigger than a 5x8 inch file card.
It plays on my computer and we burned them using Windows Explorer. We had no idea that they would not play at church and when they did not it ruined the kid's class. Why would they not play on their DVD players?

The video was 900 MB and 5 minutes long.

Placing a video of me on the side of a presentation.

I have seen this done with great effect. The person leading a presentation has slide after slide and can appear in the corner or center, at will. That person is the speaker and the one leading the pitch.

Please explain how this works?

I always thought you'd need a green screen behind you to make that work, but apparently not.

I would use PowerPoint on a Mac.

Thanks

Windows 10 Home with GMAIL as the email engine.  Cannot open a link in the email.  This appears to be related to links that are video.  For example, here is a partial link since I don't think you want the entire URL listed.  http://player.vimeo.com/video/.....  It isn't just this link.  Other video links do not open either. What I don't understand is why this link will open in other similar configured systems.  I don't think this is related to a driver since we can play video when downloaded.

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to download YouTube clips to an iOS device (without connecting to a computer).

YouTube did release this feature in their app, but removed it a few weeks later.

Is anyone aware of any other apps that do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I know this is a long-obsolete utility but DVD Shrink v3.2 is still a very good utility for shrinking the size of a DVD.   I've used it for at least 15 years, and it works perfectly on all versions of Windows, up to and including the latest build of Win 10.

HOWEVER ... as I've moved it from machine to machine over the years, it always got faster at the process of shrinking a DVD.    Things that used to take close to two hours (on a P-IV) evolved to where they'd take less than 10 minutes on later CPU's.    For example, one DVD I tested takes ~ 14 min to shrink on an i5-2500; but only about 9 min on an i7-4770; and 7 minutes on an i7-6770.   BUT on a brand new build I just did with an 8th gen CPU (6 core i7-8700) that same DVD takes ~ 35 minutes to shrink !!    Looking at the core temps & utilization, it is clearly only using one core on this CPU, whereas it has always used all of the cores available on the previous generations.     I've confirmed the affinity is set to all cores are available; and set the priority of the task as high as possible ("real time"), but all to no avail.    It simply uses one core with this CPU.    This is the first CPU I've used it on with more than 4 cores -- I don't know if that has some impact on it or not, but even if it's limited to 4 cores, I'd expect it to at least use 4 of the cores.

I suspect that's simply "the way it is" -- and clearly there's no support for this program anymore, but I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas as to…

Hi SFB Experts

as i understand from this link that in order to install SFB enterprise you have to have three front end servers in the pool

and in order to install SFB standard edition you have to use the built in MSSQL express inside SFB media

so what if i want to install only one front end server and use external MSSQL 2014 standard edition so technically this possible and such setup called standard or enterprise

i know front end server license is the same for stranded and enterprise only CALS play roll here but i want to know my setup is doable and under which category standard or enterprise

I've been using YTDownloader free edition but for the last 1 year, seems like many videos could not be downloaded even if I update/upgrade it.

Just recently, this trial version is now restricted to 1 concurrent download.

Can recommend any other free downloaders (for Win 7 or Win XP)?

I have several MOV files I am trying to view. I think they may be corrupt or something. ultimately i want to convert them to another file type. I need some help in finding something that will help me fix them. I am receiving the following error messages.

Windows media Error message:
“Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.”

Quicktime error message:
“Error-2048: Couldn’t open the file 393_0344.MOV because it is not a file that QuickTime understands.”

I think it may be a codec issue.  I did some research and found something called VLC. Before I download anything … are there any other ideas you may have. I don't like to install things that will add adware stuff.

Thank you so much for your help.
