.NET App Servers

.NET application servers, a Windows Server role in an application role, includes Internet Information Services (IIS) to provide web server support, the .NET Framework to provide application support, ASP.NET to provide server side scripting, COM+ for application component communication, Message Queuing for multithreaded processing, and the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) for application communication. There are also third party server systems that provide .NET support, including Mono, Base4, TNAPS and cc Devnet Data Access Server.

I am looking to set up an online attendance system and need to choose an economical web hoster to do this.  It will require a backend sql database. Do any of you experts have any suggestions on what might be a good setup for this as regards a webhoster or any ideas?

I know some of the web hosters include a database with their package like pow web but I’m not sure if this is something that I should do separately with Micrsoft Azure and then connect to my Web hoster.  I’m anticipating that I would need 10 gigs of space for the database and also performance would matter to some extent.  I also would have a web developer that needs access so the hoster would need to be able to allow limited access.
We have an app running on IIS 8.5 which are KPI dashboards running SQL queries and displaying the results in a browser. We have an issue where the dashboards in general begin to slow down and eventually become useless. We have tested the SQL queries used in the dashboards directly against Oracle and they run fine with no delay. The only fix so far we have found is to run IISRESET. Once we run IISRESET, it begins to work again. We also test the same queries within our ERP system(Oracle backend) which the dashboards feed off from different PC's and they run fine. The issue is with IIS or the app itself. if it was the SQL query being too heavy, you would see a slow response time when ran directly in Oracle. we have gone through and set IIS to vendor and Microsoft recommendations including using recycling.

Aside from defects in the code of the app, Is there anything we are missing in IIS that may be causing the issue?
Hi All,
I am using most secured application and i couldn't share or upload any files other than .txt.
I am using VS 2013 , C#. My requirement is
1)The application should be set to disconnect a user’s session upon log on from a different location.
2)Also If user login from same server in two different browsers by hacking the same session , then i need to capture the time of login , IP address and browser name and login ID

Please find the global.asax.cs and web.config

Kind regards,

We are facing some issues with performance, we cannot seem to process data fast enough.

Firstly what I would need to know is what we are trying is technically possible

I'm trying to process hundreds of thousands of records
each record takes approx 500ms to process due to things like hitting external API's

I'm only able to process 85-100 records per second

The server is in a datacenter, its am 8 cpu skylake cpu, however when the app runs it uses approx 140 threads, and cpu sits around 6%

The app is multithreaded and i've tried threads, threadpool, Async/await, parallel foreach/invoke etc, most of the 500ms is waiting for API's to respond.

My question is related to processing throughput with the given parameters
i.e. if it takes 500ms to process 1 record, (and its running consistently on 140 threads), does 100 records per second so like a near limit?

I know this question is tough to answer but I need to know is i should be focusing on code performance tuning or look at other solutions
Relationship between OWIN and OATH?

How do they relate?

Dear Experts

We have CRM which is web application on a LAMP stack deployed on premise, the external users can access this application via 2FA, the 2FA solution that we have used is Duo Security (where CRM application uses Duo Access gateway and Duo Access Gateway use Windows AD for authentication).
As We could not achieve advanced Reporitng though CRM application hence we went for custom development using .NET.   This takes csv output from CRM and generates the expected reports.
We have to integrate these 2 applications and based on feasibility between 2 application implementers understood in the CRM application they will provide link of .NET application when click on it, this will open up the new tab of the Reporitng server from here the reports are fetched. CRM login user and reporting system login user will be same they will use the tokens for each user but the .net implementer says static token once in few days this can be changed.

Suggestion /advice requested.

From IT point of view:  CRM server URL is published to public/internet but reporting server URL is not published for public/internet, in this case when external user access the CRM application via 2FA and then click on advanced reporting will it resolve the reporting server URL (for the external user who has already gained access of CRM application please suggest). I think it is not possible please suggest.
Please help me with best way to ensure the security and reporting server URL also accessible …
Exchange 2016 CU10 DAG 2 Nodes.

After upgrading to CU10 my exchange servers are having very high memory usage

When I was on CU9 never saw this.

I know exchange use all the memory then releases it but I thing they need to be able to throttle the memory requirements

Both servers are VM's on VMware ESXI hosts.

Both servers have 32 GB of memory Node1 has 12 CPU's Node 2 has 4 CPU's

What I see is the Microsoft Exchange Diagnostics Service spikes

Microsoft Exchange Store Worker service   is listed many times

Also a service noderunner

they ae using up most of the memory

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Hi All

I have the following applications

1. Web app (asp.net)
2. TCP importer windows forms app (imports data from gps devices in cars)
3. Translator console app - takes messages from MS Message Queue and puts in SQL DB
4. Alerts console app - takes messages from a different Message Queue and sends sms/emails

all have different teams, and with excepting of web app, all are having to store in memory little objects to speed up performance instead of doing DB lookups
We are processing 100 records a second (and it will keep growing), so we have to have stuff like a key value pair in memory (i.e. ImeiNumber, DB ID)

As each app has its own implementation of an in memory dictionary, and there are lots of them which all do different things, but ultimately storing the same data, I was thinking of a distributed memory cache, or some sort of API where it returns the data instead of doing a DB lookup
I think an API will be heavier, and currently apps 2,3and4 are on same windows 2016 server

I've been looking around and found memcache and memcacheD
However, it seems quite related to php etc, and not .net
I was wondering if there are are pure .net alternatives
We are using framework 4.5

What would you do in my position, and have you had an real experience with this
I'm currently a bit overwhelmed with all the data online, and would value so guidance and advice of what to use
Hi Experts,
I got some errors when trying to install a Windows Service app on a production server.  The application deployed successfully on my machine, but not production\network server.

Here is the 1st error I got:
An exception occurred during the Install phase.
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The trust relationship between the primary domain and the trusted domain failed

To fix the error above, I prefixed the Username with the domain (sample format:  Domain\username).  I also put in the correct password,

I then got  the 2nd error (see below):
An exception occurred during the Install phase.
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done

Any idea what needs to be done to get my Windows Service deployed properly?

Thank you in advance for your help,
