NetWare is a computer network operating system developed by Novell, Inc. It initially used cooperative multitasking to run various services on a personal computer, using the Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) network protocol. It is hardware-independent, running on any suitable Intel-based PC compatible system, and a wide range of network cards. Products inclue NetWare Directory Services (NDS), a global directory service similar to Microsoft's Active Directory; GroupWise, an email system; ZENworks, an application configuration suite; and BorderManager, a security product. Open Enterprise Server, the current iteration, runs on a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.

Hi
I'm running a Groupwise 6.5.7 email system on Novell Netware 6.5 Support Pack Revision 08
Everyone can work fine, login to Webmail, connect mobile device via POP3 or IMAP access except for one user.
This user can login fine using the Windows Groupwise 6.5.7 client.
When I try and login to Webmail using the same username and password it fails with "Please login again. You may have typed your name or password incorrectly. Remember that passwords are case sensitive." and the Webmail monitor displays Login failed: jdupl
If I input the incorrect password on purpose I get the same failure in the browser window but the Webmail monitor now displays "Login failed: User jdupl supplied invalid password. Login rejected: Password is incorrect.  Login failed: jdupl"
So the Webmail does detect when the password is valid or not but it will not allow this user to login.
His email has also stopped synchronising using POP3 or IMAP settings on his mobile devices (Samsung Note 4 and Ipad)
I have performed a dsrepair and it shows no errors with the exception of a network error
"Found a Network Address Property on the server object and through SLP:
Address Type = TCP, data[6] = 192.168.8.115:524

Ok here's my quandary.  The other day one of my staff noticed extremely high usage on our netware administrative account and  disable it to stop the transactions.  After doing that his workstation crashed, now I have no way to re-enable the account and thereby have no way to do anything in directory services.  Has anyone there have any idea how I can re-enable the account?  So far I've had no luck.   I'm hoping someone has an idea.

Thanks

I have a customer that pulled and old server out of the basement and wants to try and bring it back. It did not boot so I found a similar one (PATA Hard Drive) and the drive seemed to boot. The drive was on the secondary IDE channel and I remembered enough to load ISADISK at 170 INT F wasn't it? It loaded but still can't mount SYS.

FDISK does reflect a non-DOS partition. What else can I try?

I am trying to install the SNMP server on SLES 12 via YAST and it's prompting me for a SLES 11 SP1 disk. I am trying to install it on our Novell GWIA server for Solarwinds monitoring? Any thoughts on how I can get this going? I'm trying to search for the SLES 11 SP1 disk, but unsure why it needs it if I'm on SLES 12?

Novell IDM Is there a report or way to easily compare Active Directory against eDirectory for users that have not migrated over?

I have a lot of accounts of users that have not changed their password and as a result have not synced the password. You might ask, why not just change force the passwords to change at next login? The boss doesn't want to do that and wants to get a report first and a way to track to see how many users have not changed their password? we want to aggressive reach out to them and hand hold all 14,000 accounts that will most likely need to change the password.

Hello,

we are running a Groupwise 2014 R2 SP1 Server. To restrict the mail traffic we are using class of service in the GWIA.
For example:
No external mail recipients are allowed except to company1.com.

These is working fine if the user is using a Groupwise mail client.

We also use for example Thunderbird or other mail clients to connect to the Groupwise Server (via IMAP and SMTP).
Here I found out that the restriction in my example above is not working.

Are the class of service not working if you are using an mail client that is connected via IMAP and SMTP?

Best regards,
Christian

I have historically been able to mount a folder on our NOVELL SLES Linux server with no problems, but recently I've run into some problems. The last view days I have been unsuccessful in being able to mount the folder. I ran "ncpcon" to try and figure out if it lost it's brain or something?

When I try to save a login script in Novell, I am getting the following error message.

Unknown meaning for error number 0x1; Please call a Novell support provider.

An error Occurred writing the changes to NDS.
Some data may not have been written.

Close or Detail button, but when I click on Detail no further data exists.

Is this just something in using the deprecated client? It appears to be saving regardless?

I am running Groupwise 2014 on a virtual Suse Linux server.  I ran out of space on my drive that contains my PO.  I added 10GB via the vm vcenter.  And I can see that I have that space available.  But when I try to resize through the Expert Partitioner it gives an error: Resize not support by underlying device.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I connect with Apache Directory Studio to the environment and I see only the top domain, contoso.local - I know there's 2 child domains becuase I see them in AD for sure.

I cannot, however, figure out how to see childdomain1.contoso.com and childdomain2.contoso.com in Apache Directory Studio

I have inherited a groupwise server that has some users that are unable to access their mail via their smart phones while others can access them.  I have matched the settings from a working phone on a different user and the connection fails.  Is there something within the Groupwise Admin console I need to change on the users?

PUM = Privileged User Manager

Q1:
Understand PUM is used to record access to servers by sysadmins to servers (Windows, Linux etc)
with Access, Authentication, Authorization controls.  In what way is this different from TACACS
& Radius for network devices' access, authentication & authorization?

Q2:
Many switches, routers IOS or OS could not enforce complex password, password expiry, locked
after several attempts etc.  Does TACACS, Radius have these features if network admins centrally
access via TACACS or Radius?

Q3:
Anyone know if PUM has Radius kind of functionalities built in?

Q4:
Can a Windows jumphost provide the functionalities of TACACS or Radius server?

Our main server is running oes 11 sp2. We are trying to publish an app on a Windows 2012 R2 Xenapp server. Is there a way to get access to Novell drive mappings when connecting through Citrix.

Running an old old version of NetWare.  We got it sometime in 1995 or 1996.  Went to boot the server and it loads as normal up to a point that then I get the following on the screen:

Mounting Volume SYS
Mirror copies of the volume directory don't match
Volume SYS NOT mounted

I then get a prompt that says "file server name:" followed by a flashing cursor.  Nobody is able connect to the server.

Normally the server will completely boot, autostart the backup software and then people can log in to the server via some old clients we have.

I opened the server case and there is only one hard drive, so there can be no RAID 1 Mirror drive configuration.  Also, as the server is booting as far as it is I know the system is detecting and reading information off the hard drive.

As you can probably tell, I know nothing about Netware.  We have some fairly critical data on this server and I am unsure of the reliability of the backups.  Is this something fairly easy to fix or is it best left to a Netware guru?

I've recently been testing out login use case experiences on my System Images before deploying.
It appears the lock screen setup has been affected; there is no password field prompted to users when the Novell Client is installed on the image.

If the Novell Client is NOT installed and you goto sleep or reboot etc. my image displays the password input field as expected just under the username field.

Is this a Win7 bug? a Novell registry edit I can modify in Win7 local security profile ? etc?

thoughts?

thanks

Need a good process for scanning Novell Netware 5.1 (thats right 5.1) servers with McAfee VirusScan 8.8. I know Netware 5.1 was supported by McAfee with Netshield, but was dropped after Novell move to the Linux type OS. Is my only course of action, to map drives and scan from a secondary system?

Hello,

we had a iSCSI connection of a Novell OES 11 SP2 to a FreeNAS 9.3 Server. This was perfect working. After an update to SP3 is the connection not possible.
We did a new setup of the connection at the YaST2 iSCSI-Initiator interface again without any success.
A server reboot hangs at the point of the iSCSI startup.

An iSCSI connection to a Microsoft or Openfiler target without any problems. We have also a lot of iSCSI connection from other servers to this FreeNAS.
This seems to be a problem between Novell OES 11 SP3 and FreeNAS 9.3.

Does anybody has an idea, how we can resolve this?

Best regards,
Trexman

We have Novell Client 2 SP2 for Windows Server 2008 (IR6a) running a Windows 2008 32-Bit terminal server. After a few hours all applications become very slow and a full disconnect is required to regain the response needed. The session disconnect fixes the problem each time, but I don't think I should have to do it. We are running legacy DOS applications that will not run in 64 Bit environment. The client listed is the latest and best for our required environment.

Is there any settings or registry changes which will help the apparent memory leak causing a reboot.
