Novell Netware

NetWare is a computer network operating system developed by Novell, Inc. It initially used cooperative multitasking to run various services on a personal computer, using the Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) network protocol. It is hardware-independent, running on any suitable Intel-based PC compatible system, and a wide range of network cards. Products inclue NetWare Directory Services (NDS), a global directory service similar to Microsoft's Active Directory; GroupWise, an email system; ZENworks, an application configuration suite; and BorderManager, a security product. Open Enterprise Server, the current iteration, runs on a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.

Hi
I'm running a Groupwise 6.5.7 email system on Novell Netware 6.5 Support Pack Revision 08
I suspect corruption of the eDir caused by an Ipad running GW Mail app.
Everyone can work fine, login to Webmail, connect mobile devices via POP3 or IMAP access except for one user.

This user can login fine using the Windows Groupwise 6.5.7 client.
When I try and login to Webmail using the same username and password as for the Groupwise client it fails with "Please login again. You may have typed your name or password incorrectly. Remember that passwords are case sensitive." and the Webmail monitor displays Login failed: jdupl
If I input the incorrect password on purpose I get the same failure in the browser window but the Webmail monitor now displays "Login failed: User jdupl supplied invalid password. Login rejected: Password is incorrect.  Login failed: jdupl". So the Webmail does detect when the password is valid or not but it will not allow this
user to login.
When I login with my user peterw it successful, as it is for the other 200 users in the post offices.

Ok here's my quandary.  The other day one of my staff noticed extremely high usage on our netware administrative account and  disable it to stop the transactions.  After doing that his workstation crashed, now I have no way to re-enable the account and thereby have no way to do anything in directory services.  Has anyone there have any idea how I can re-enable the account?  So far I've had no luck.   I'm hoping someone has an idea.

Thanks

I am trying to install the SNMP server on SLES 12 via YAST and it's prompting me for a SLES 11 SP1 disk. I am trying to install it on our Novell GWIA server for Solarwinds monitoring? Any thoughts on how I can get this going? I'm trying to search for the SLES 11 SP1 disk, but unsure why it needs it if I'm on SLES 12?

Running an old old version of NetWare.  We got it sometime in 1995 or 1996.  Went to boot the server and it loads as normal up to a point that then I get the following on the screen:

Mounting Volume SYS
Mirror copies of the volume directory don't match
Volume SYS NOT mounted

I then get a prompt that says "file server name:" followed by a flashing cursor.  Nobody is able connect to the server.

Normally the server will completely boot, autostart the backup software and then people can log in to the server via some old clients we have.

I opened the server case and there is only one hard drive, so there can be no RAID 1 Mirror drive configuration.  Also, as the server is booting as far as it is I know the system is detecting and reading information off the hard drive.

As you can probably tell, I know nothing about Netware.  We have some fairly critical data on this server and I am unsure of the reliability of the backups.  Is this something fairly easy to fix or is it best left to a Netware guru?
