Office 365 is a group of software plus services subscriptions that provides productivity software and related services to its subscribers. Office 365 allows the use of Microsoft Office apps on Windows and OS X, provides storage space on Microsoft's cloud storage service OneDrive, and grants 60 Skype minutes per month. Office 365 includes e-mail and social networking services through hosted versions of Exchange Server, Skype for Business Server, SharePoint and Office Online, integration with Yammer, as well as access to the Office software. All of Office 365's components can be managed and configured through an online portal; users can be added manually, imported from a CSV file, or Office 365 can be set up for single sign-on with a local Active Directory using Active Directory Federation Services.

I'm about to start a minimal cutover in Office 365 from Exchange 2010.  I have everything setup and I have a couple mailboxes that I am testing with. I ran into one problem. The username for the mailbox is still username@domain.onmicrosoft.com The primary email address is correct - username@domain.com.

The users will have to log into Outlook with username@domain.onmicrosoft.com. I can't change the login to username@domain.com.

It says "This user is synchronized with your local Active Directory. Some details can be edited only through your local Active Directory."  I can't see where I can make this change on-premise. I assume once I stop adsync, I'll be able to change that but I need it to be correct when each  mailbox gets migrated.

I'm experiencing a DirSync error:

DirSyncError-resized.JPG

So there is a conflict between the item displayed, and an unknown item in either the Azure AD or local AD

But how on earth do I track down the conflicting item(s). Sure, I get that the item in the screenshot is one of the items, but what are the other items?

Sort of: "What are the difference between an elephant?"

Any Ideas except dumping the entire AD into a text file and start searching?

Microsoft Teams (And even SharePoint and OneDrive) seem to have grey area with the storage. I can't get a good Microsoft support representative on the phone. I have a project that needs to start with 15TB of file storage and we want to use Microsoft Teams to work on this collaborative project. Is there a license that allows this right off the bat, or is there a way to pay for additional storage?

ie: OneDrive is "Unlimited Storage" but 1TB included, then you have to call when at 90% to get 5TB, and so on and so on. Teams doesn't seem to offer this scaling but we need 15TB to start with.

If Microsoft doesn't have a solution for this, what would be an equivalent?
Thanks

Hi Experts,

we have a big environment with 25 domains.
We use O365 and ADSYNC.
ADSync is installed on on DC to sync all doamins and users to the cloud.
It works, but not all, sometimes some password changes are not synced over days.

Can you help me out ?
Why it happens sometimes and sometimes not ?

Hello experts -
my company is about to onboard users to Azure AD/Office 365 and we are using Exchange Online (hybrid), ProPlus, One Drive and Sharepoint as one of the core offerings. Just wanted to find out from the legal/compliance perspective, what legal requirements strategies (eg eDiscovery) have your companies implemented (specifically for the services above)?

Thank you!

I need help with a powershell script I have for creating remote mailboxes in a hybrid exchange environment.

What I'm looking to do are 3 things:
1) Put this into a Function so I can call from another script
2) Modify the logging, so it will give a simple output of success or failure, mailbox name and time/date stamp - Really, all I need is the line "Enable-RemoteMailbox -Identity $User -RemoteRoutingAddress ("SMTP:" + $User + "@$RemoteRoutingDomain") -Confirm:$False" with a write-host success or failure).
3) If possible add the user with the mailbox to a group, but wait for 60 minutes

$WorkingDirectory = Split-Path -Path $MyInvocation.MyCommand.Definition -Parent
Start-Transcript -Path ("$WorkingDirectory\Logs\" + ($MyInvocation.MyCommand.Name) + "_debugging.log")
$LogName = ($MyInvocation.MyCommand.Name) + ".log"
$LogFilePath = "$WorkingDirectory\Logs\$LogName"

# remote exchange hybrid connection
$RemoteRoutingDomain = "company.mail.onmicrosoft.com"
$ExchangeUri = "http://fqdn/PowerShell/"
$UserCredential = Get-Credential
$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri $ExchangeUri -Authentication Kerberos
Import-PSSession $Session -AllowClobber

$Users = "user1"

foreach ($User in $Users){
	try {
		Enable-RemoteMailbox -Identity $User -RemoteRoutingAddress ("SMTP:" + $User + "@$RemoteRoutingDomain") -Confirm:$False
		$Result = $?
	}
	catch {
		$CatchCategoryInfo = $_.CategoryInfo
		$CatchException = $_.Exception

We have an SBS2011 server (migrated from SBS2003) with a <domain>.local domain.
We have purchased a new server with Windows 2016 and plan on creating a new domain controller with a new domain to fix the <domain>.local issue, cleanup many AD settings from [/list]SBS2003/2011 and revert to a "standard" AD configuration (non sbs). We don't want to migrate SBS AD to Windows 2016 AD.

New domain will be <domain>.com or internal.<domain>.com

We are also moving to Office365 and plan to sync our users accounts from the new domain

My question is how to migrate the users mail (from SBS2011) to Office365 using the users (same user names) from the newly created domain on Windows 2016?

That is I create and sync my Office365 users from new Windows 2016 server then need to migrate the mail from the old SBS2011 server to office365.

If I create users in Office 365 via the SBS2011 server then the Ids (sids?) in Office 365 won't match the ids from the new domain when I decommission SBS2011.
If I create the users in Office 365 via the new win2016 server how do we migrate the mail from SBS2011.

TIA

We've set up a number of new Windows 10 Pro laptops by installing Office 365 apps from the defaults in portal.office.com source. In some cases, but not all, the Office programs are not appearing in the list of apps, and the file associations aren't set. So we can't, for example, associate .mdb with Access as the apps list doesn't included Access. I know we could fix individual file associations by going to the list of file types, but that's very time consuming and doesn't really fix the issues properly.

Any ideas about how to recover from this? Using Repair in the installed apps doesn't work, either with the quick fix or the full repair option. Would uninstalling and then reinstalling Office 365 be likely to do this?

I wondered about whether this is because we hadn't chosen the file types (Office formats or Open format) immediately, but surely that wouldn't also fail to register the Office apps as well?

We've previously been using Office 2013/2016 on volume licences, but this hasn't been installed on these new laptops (which are Lenovo L440s with preloaded installer).

I need help when the administrator deletes user who is synchronized via AD Connect with Office 365, after the synchronization the user goes to deleted users in Office 365.

Brand new Windows 10 PC with Office 2013 installed.  This morning the client called and everyting opens as Office 365 and unlicensed!  Nobody claims to have done anything on the computer.  The best part, is I cannot even find Office 365 to remove it.  Not listed in apps or Programs and features.  The 2013 (Office15) folders are the only files for office, but do they hide them elsewhere.  They don't have any Office 365 account.  Still have 30 day trial, so this is not an emergency.

Is it possible in Office365 ( Exchange Online ) to block one user from sending attachments?

It is only for one user and it is OK for them to receive, just not send.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

We use MS Reporting Services to send out daily reports to some of our customers. Reporting services is configured with email@domain1.com. Before we switched to Office 365 from Gmail we were able to send some of our reports out through email@domain2.com. These would come across as "reporting services via Company 2 Support" with email@domain2.com showing as the from and reply-to address. I was not employed with this company at the time of setup and cannot figure out how this was done.

Basically, if reports are being sent to customers of company 1, show email@domain1.com.
If reports are being sent to customers of company 2, allow sending on behalf of email@domain2.com.

I know that reporting services will only allow one "from" email address. Is this possible to achieve through some other means? Through some sort of relay perhaps? Thanks in advance.

We have an on-premisise Active Directoy and Office 365.  We want to have users and groups which exist in our on-prem AD to be pushed up to the cloud so we can easily assigne permissions etc to Sharepoint.

At this time we are not comfortable having our passwords loaded to the cloud.  Is there away to use Azure AD Connect or similar to sync our AD but not the passwords?

OneDrive for Business
Office 365
Windows 10
Problem: I need to be able to via files and folders shared with me via OneDrive for Business in File Explorer.
When login to office.com, there is a navigation pane, on the left. A category says Shared,  under that, is anoption that say files shared with me and files shared by me.
I need to be able to see files shared with me in Windows 10 Files Explorer, or if  you share a file with me, via OneDrive, I want to be able to access those files via File Explorer.

In other words, you can view your files and folders you own in OneDrive for Business, such as Documents, in File Explorer, but I need to be able to see files and folders shared with me in File Explorer, too.
I was thinking  the best way to go about that is to map the OneDrive URL in File Explorer.

Hello Everyone,

Working on a new PowerPoint   Office 365.  I'm trying to put a placeholder for Bullet Point Text in the Slidemaster.

Is there a way to insert a Bullet Point placeholder in the Slidemaster.  I only seem to be able to insert a "Click to Edit Master Text Styles" -- and that doesn't even show up in Normal View.

Please take a look at the attached, and check my  Slide Master view.

Thanks!

hi peeps,

I'm working on getting some starter forms (or procedures) and leaver forms (or procedures) rolling for out I.T department. I guess the most important thing is to get procedures and processes in place and content will follow.

We don't have anything like it and I want to standardise something across the business. From what they will need in terms of applications, to hardware (like laptops/phones) to credentials they need set up for them.

We do have various service desk systems along with O365 and Sharepoint that we could use to enforce such a thing.

Do you have anything in place that you have created or what you deem as being an excellent way of keeping track of things? Would you create forms on things like Sharepiont? Does your HR department have anything similar that they use?

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks for helping
Yash
