Office 365 is a group of software plus services subscriptions that provides productivity software and related services to its subscribers. Office 365 allows the use of Microsoft Office apps on Windows and OS X, provides storage space on Microsoft's cloud storage service OneDrive, and grants 60 Skype minutes per month. Office 365 includes e-mail and social networking services through hosted versions of Exchange Server, Skype for Business Server, SharePoint and Office Online, integration with Yammer, as well as access to the Office software. All of Office 365's components can be managed and configured through an online portal; users can be added manually, imported from a CSV file, or Office 365 can be set up for single sign-on with a local Active Directory using Active Directory Federation Services.

I am unable to find a method in PowerShell to do this.

Does anybody know how to report on the searches (not the holds - that I can do) within an eDiscovery case, within the new Security & Compliance Center?

Thank you.

Need help with combining these script together if it can be done, any help is appreciated.

Also want to mention, this will be for use in a large environment, 20k or so, and I plan on having as a scheduled task.  Not sure if this is an efficient script or will be too intrusive.  Input is welcome.

The first script goes through all mailboxes in ExO, and if it's a member of a group "MobileUsers", it enables activesync and owafordevices, for everything else it disables these features.

Import-Module MSOnline
$mailboxes = Get-CASMailbox -resultSize unlimited
$asusers = Get-DistributionGroupMember -Identity 'MobileUsers'

$asguids = @()
foreach ($user in $asusers) {
    $asguids += $user.GUID
}

foreach ($mailbox in $mailboxes) {
    if ($asguids -contains $mailbox.GUID ) {
        if ($mailbox.ActiveSyncEnabled -ne $true) {
            $mailbox | Set-CASMailbox -ActiveSyncEnabled $true –OWAforDevicesEnabled $True
        }
    }
    else {
        if ($mailbox.ActiveSyncEnabled -ne $false) {
            $mailbox | Set-CASMailbox -ActiveSyncEnabled $false –OWAforDevicesEnabled $false
        }
    }
}

The second script (which can be based off of the same "MobileUsers" group, I have to set an license SKU in ExO for intune.  The header from the input file is:   "UPN","usagelocation","SKU"#

$users = import-csv .\intune.csv -delimiter “,”
foreach ($user in $users)
{
$upn=$user.UPN
$usagelocation=$user.usagelocation
$SKU=$user.SKU
Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName $upn -UsageLocation $usagelocation
Set-MsolUserLicense -UserPrincipalName $upn -AddLicenses $SKU
}

I used the office 365 Hybrid migration and am about to start migrating mailboxes. DNS  MX records are still pointing to on-premise Exchange.

Once I start uploading mailboxes, new email will still be coming to on-premise exchange.

How do I handle new emails that have come to mailboxes that have already completed the migration?

We have a requirement we have a separate On-Premises forest 9acap.com where all User accounts exists and 9alpacap.com in office365 where all mailboxes exist. Kindly note 9alpacap is a new domain created in office365 currently the users are having two credentials one to login as a domain user on 9acap and another for accessing mailbox in office365 for 9alpha. We need to implement ADFS to provide single sign-on experience where users of 9acap should be able to access mailboxes of 9alpacap. How to achieve this and what steps will be required for the same.

Thanks

I want to give a developer access to one site on my SharePoint Online (Office 365 Enterprise E3) tenet. What is the current best practice way to do this? The developer will need to upload documents to the Site Assets folder and add/edit pages within the site.

Working on a script that creates an o365 user via powershell and it's breaking when I try to append or combine text inputs to make new variables.

The following is supposed to take the inputs from the textbox input '$o365UserFirst.text', '$o365UserLast.text' and merge them into a $displayname for use later, then take the textbox input '$o365useralias.text' and add the domain at the end for use later. Then finally it uses the text inputs to make a new mailbox, but it errors out with a "Cannot bind argument ot parameter 'MicrosoftOnlineServicesID' because it is null" error. For some reason the first bits appear to be creating empty variables. This obviously isn't the entire script, but just the broken part.

             $displayname = ($O365UserFirst.text + " " + $O365UserLast.text)
            $O365UserEmail = ($O365UserAlias.text + "@domain.com")

            New-Mailbox -Alias $O365UserAlias.Text -Name $O365UserAlias.Text -FirstName $O365UserFirst.Text -LastName $O365UserLast.Text -DisplayName $displayname -MicrosoftOnlineServicesID $0365UserEmail -Password (ConvertTo-SecureString -String $O365UserPassword -AsPlainText -Force)

            $Results.AppendText("`r`n")
            $Results.AppendText("User Mailbox Created... Continuing Script")

We were recently targeted for phishing emails and found quite a few employees got compromised.

As part of the attack, the BOT created a new Inbox Rule called "Main" and "Main1" into users profiles. This rule is to forward any/all email to an external source, delete any auto-replies sent back after the phishing email triggered back out to other contacts etc.

The one common factor is the rules all seemed to be called "Main" or "Mail1".

Is there a way to delete all mailbox rules in the organization that are named "Main"?

C:\> Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Remove-InboxRule -Identity "main"
The input object cannot be bound to any parameters for the command either because the command does not take pipeline input or the input and its properties do not match any of the parameters that take pipeline input.

I have a exchange 2010, hybrid to exo 2013/office 365.

I created an alternate authoritative domain in Office 365 only, not on-prem in 2010.

I'm trying to create a shared mailbox in exchange online but am not having much luck getting it to work, granting full rights.

I ran through this process to convert to a mailbox, then created and on prem object, change the exchangeGUID and did a sync.  It did not sync with Azure however, or read "Synced with Active Directory." in step 5.

Any idea's on this?  Do I need to create the domain and/or OU structure on prem for this to work?

I cannot seem to find a way with PowerShell to distinguish between Office 365 Retention Policies and Label Policies.
NOTE: I am not speaking about Exchange Retention Policies at all for this question

Any ideas?

Microsoft swears that Office 365 only uses ports 80 & 443 (regular web surfing ports).

However, we can't get o365 locally installed apps to activate through our webproxy (Microsoft Thread Management Gateway).
It does work if we use TMG firewall client instead.

What's up with that?

Microsoft did acknowledge that activations won't work through web proxy client because despite it being ports 80 & 443, the activation is done via a non-web based application.

So, what do people do to activate it the locally installed app, and when it phones home every month or two??

Thanks for any thoughts,
Mike

We have a user who has a 32GB OST cache file. He is experiencing a 2-4 second delay when moving an email from his Inbox to any of his sub-folders. This delay happens more often than not, but not 100% of the time. Easily reproducible problem.

We cache his entire mailbox (as opposed to just past 12 months) because he uses searching extensively and quite often has to go back a 2-3 years.

He has one shared mailbox (non-cached) configured within his Outlook, but rarely accesses it.

He had this issue on his old laptop with Outlook 2010. And now he has a brand new laptop with Outlook 2013 with i7, 16GB RAM, SSD, wired GB connection...so he's not short of horsepower, however, my impression is that his cache file is large enough to cause issues.

The company I work for just moved over to Office 365 web version we no longer have a local copy of Office.
My question is any way we can create an email template on outlook 365.  It's only text nothing that major but the email list is long.

I'm sure it's easy but I haven't found it if its possible
Thank you

I am still not the greatest 365 so please base with me. We are setup in  hybrid mode for our pilot. Using a test account that was sync was moved to the cloud I then for kicks deleted the onprem remote mailbox in exchange. When I look in o365 under mailboxes I not longer see the mailbox and do not see it listed under deleted mailboxes. I did try to recreated a "user mailbox" for the same user but this cause sync errors as expected.

***Again I was doing this testing for my own knowledge.***
1) IF a remote mailbox is deleted is the cloud mailbox deleted as well?
2) Where can I see where ADConnect places are quarantined attributes / account that have duplicate attribute values?

I am working on a project to create SSO for Office 365. So, I built a VM in Azure and upgraded it to DC from my on premise AD (2008r2 level)
I have opened following ports on my firewall and in Azure:

•      UDP Port 88 for Kerberos authentication
•      UDP and TCP Port 135 for domain controllers-to-domain controller and client to domain controller operations.
•      TCP Port 139 and UDP 138 for File Replication Service between domain controllers.
•      UDP Port 389 for LDAP to handle normal queries from client computers to the domain controllers.
•      TCP and UDP Port 445 for File Replication Service
•      TCP and UDP Port 464 for Kerberos Password Change
•      TCP Port 3268 and 3269 for Global Catalog from client to domain controller.
•      TCP and UDP Port 53 for DNS from client to domain controller and domain controller to domain controller.

I only get hits on UDP ports in my ASA firewall and I was able to promote this VM to DC and synchronize it so it works half way.
Now I need to install ADFS on it and that's where problem comes in. Configuration fails and when I go to the event viewer I see a lot of DNS and Domain Synch errors.

One of the problems I discovered is that Azure DC cannot communicate with my PDC even though I have opened ports in my firewall between Azure IP and my DC IP on prem. I do have IPSec VPN tunnel, but the server subnet (public) is not covered in it.

I need some thoughts and advice here.
Thanks,
Lev

We would like to introduce a 10 year delete and allow recovery DPT.
Then we would like to modify the DPT (or delete and recreate) to have the duration of 3 years.
We would only modify the duration not the action.

Does it make more sense to modify the duration or delete and recreate the DPT?

Thank you

Hi there. As the [sole] IT person for a <25 user small business, I am looking for advice on whether to dive into an Office 365 premium subscription, complete with cloud access to office as well as exchange, OR to do office apps only and keep our email domain hosted with a 3rd party.

I feel like our current vendor is going to deliver us news that we must change up our service due to Microsoft's "unplugging" the current shared exchange service (this I heard from a sales person).

We currently pay 12/month per user including complete admin support and management of exchange as well as an anti-spam solution (Symantec).

Microsoft says office 365 premium (incl. Exchange) costs 12.50/per month for 1 yr/user.

I feel like the Office 365 Premium subscription offer doesn't include the same level of administrative support as either 3rd party email host.

I feel like our current vendor is going to soon-deliver us news that we must change up our service due to Microsoft's "unplugging" the current shared exchange service (this I heard from a sales person).

Add to this Comcast business offering office 365 solution for $14.95/month per user.

I would appreciate a few inputs so I might make an informed decision for our company.   Many thanks for your consideration!  :)

as i know in earlier version passwords sync was one way from on premise to office 365

also Distribution groups that are created in Office 365 through directory synchronization must be managed in the on-premises environment?
