Office 365 is a group of software plus services subscriptions that provides productivity software and related services to its subscribers. Office 365 allows the use of Microsoft Office apps on Windows and OS X, provides storage space on Microsoft's cloud storage service OneDrive, and grants 60 Skype minutes per month. Office 365 includes e-mail and social networking services through hosted versions of Exchange Server, Skype for Business Server, SharePoint and Office Online, integration with Yammer, as well as access to the Office software. All of Office 365's components can be managed and configured through an online portal; users can be added manually, imported from a CSV file, or Office 365 can be set up for single sign-on with a local Active Directory using Active Directory Federation Services.

Only a quick question, trying to ascertain the best practice to deal with leavers.

Q: What is the best policy for leavers and retaining email, Auditing etc?

We have quite a few leavers on the project but need to retain all email for these leavers.

We have a pure Office 365 environment.

What are the implications on journals after deleting the users account, soft and hard delete.

Thanks

I have Exchange 2007 and I want to enable Outlook Anywhere for the purpose of office 365 Hybrid migration.

On the EMC-Sever Configuration-Client access- when I click Enable Outlook Anywhere

I have put the external host name and it asks to choose the client authentication method   .
Basic authentication
OR
NTLM authentication.

Not sure which type of client authentication method to choose.
We don’t have any proxy server in our network and our firewall is hosted outside with another company who maintains it.
So if I choose Basic authentication (default) and if this doesn’t work will I be able to switch back to use NTLM authentication.
Any suggestions will be great!

I'm just looking for affirmation here...

I want to create a shared calendar and we have Office 365 and use Office 2016.  So, of course, the first step in creating a shared calendar is to create an email account.

So we created a public folder mailbox in the Exchange admin center.  We then created a Root Public Folder... I gave myself owner permissions.

Now I'm told that I need to go to Outlook and view Public Folders and if Public Folders isn't visible to give it a few hours.  This makes sense as it's Microsoft and with Google it takes seconds.

Anyway... can someone confirm how many "hours" it takes until I can see Public Folders?

Thanks

Hi

I have Exchange 2007 server onsite and now planning to move to office 365.
My predecessors didn’t setup Outlook Anywhere in the past and now due to the office 365 migration, I need to setup this.

I have now installed RPC over HTTP Proxy and want to enable Outlook Anywhere.
On the EMC-Sever Configuration-Client access- when I click Enable Outlook Anywhere

It asks for External host name and how do i find this. Will this be my OWA address https://mail.myorg.co.uk
That I need to put in here. Please see the attached snapshot.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

I use VBA to create custom toolbars for MS Office applications.  For Word 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016, I've always deployed global templates as a .dotm file in the user's AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP folder.  For Excel and PowerPoint, either .xlam or .ppam in the AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns folder.

Clients are asking me whether these same tools can be made to work in Office 365 where the applications are cloud-based rather than installed on the local machine.

Do global templates and Add-ins work with the cloud-based versions of O365 applications?  Can they be deployed as-is, or do they require modification, or do they need to be recreated in an entirely new language?  Can anybody point me to some documentation on this topic?

Thanks

I've been asked with exporting all emails in a mailbox from a particular date range into a PST file.  I've done a little bit of research online and it looks like an easy way to do this is export to PST, but adding a filter to export only the sent items during the date ranges and the received during the date ranges.  I've done a test and that appears to be working fine.

I have two questions

1.  Has anyone used this method before and is it very reliable?  These results are to be provided for a lawsuit and they need to be accurate.

2.  Is there anything I might be missing that the sent & received filters might not catch.  It seems like an email is either sent or received, so that should catch them all.

Email is hosted with Office365 and using Outlook 2016

Thanks very much.

Hi All!

I am doing a staged migration from Exchange 2003 to Office 365.

Currently moving smaller mail accounts as I get used to the process. I find that they never complete although all the mail is transferred to the 365 account and the user is not reporting any missing email and having no issues.

The error is "Transient error MapiExceptionNetworkError has occurred. The system will retry" This only happens after the initial email sync. It attempts to retry every two days and never completes.

One issue maybe it always schedules the retry at night during the backup window for the exchange server.

Any suggestions?

I am attaching the detailed report for one of the mailboxes.

Thank you.

I have a PowerShell 5.0 script that runs fine as a standalone script.  It logs on to Office 365 Exchange and does a Connect-MSolservice.  However, when I call this script from within Microsoft Access 2016, I get the following error:

Hi

We have Exchange 2007 server onsite and now planning to move to office 365 and I would like to go with the Hybrid Environment.

I ran the Exchange Deployment Assistant and on the document it says I need to configure Outlook Anywhere on our on- premises Exchange Server (because the email migration service uses RPC over HTTP)

Currently staff use OWA 2007 from outside through https://mail.myorg.co.uk. For this I procured the SSL from Trustico
The document says that I must use a certificate issued by a trusted certification authority (CA) with your Outlook Anywhere configuration.

So do I need to procure another SSL certificate to setup Outlook Anywhere. Bit confused here.
Please let me know how to go about.

Any help will be great.
Thanks

I will be doing a Gmail to Office 365 migration for an organization that has several Macs that contain lots of contacts.

Some of these contacts are only saved on the local Mac.

We need to be sure that these contacts are moved into Office 365 as part of the migration and that no contacts are left on these local Macs.

How can this be done?

NFR key for Veeam Agent for Linux

Veeam is happy to provide a free NFR license for one year.  It allows for the non‑production use and valid for five workstations and two servers. Veeam Agent for Linux is a simple backup tool for your Linux installations, both on‑premises and in the public cloud.

Recently, my customer hired a web designer and he moved the nameserver from GoDaddy to Google.  I am now trying to setup Outlook 2016 on a new computer but it is finding the incorrect server name customerdomainname.com instead of the Office 365 server.  Autodiscover is correct.  I visited https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com and all is good.  I ran the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365 and it was able to configure Outlook successfully.  Any ideas as to what the issue is?  I don't want to have to rely on the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365 every time we need to setup Outlook for this customer.

One of my Office 365 clients has 2 users approaching their 50GB mailbox limit and they don't seem to be able to find enough items to permanently delete / purge to free up space. Yeah, I know, 50GB of mail is crazy!

My question is regarding what seems to be a 'gray' area.

As opposed to creating a local PST archive, what about creating a Shared Mailbox for each user approaching 50GB that they only have access to and then having them 'archive' to that mailbox? I don't see / can't find anything by MSFT that explicilty forbids it.

We have a number of external contacts that appear in our global address list. However, as this continue to grow we want to create a separate list to keep them separate from the ones within the company.

What is the easiest way to do this?

Hi,

So here is the situation,

I had some issues with some old business partners and I had to dissolve my company. I am reopening as a new entity and a new name.

I have the old email domain and SharePoint site up and working fine, I would like to create a new mailbox on the new domain name, migrate my mailbox to the new domain, move my SharePoint online site and all the content to a new site.

I have already paid for the year for my Office 365 E3 licenses. I would like to just migrate and not have to pay again for the license on the new domain if possible.

I already added the new domain to my O365 portal and verified it (Pointed DNS to O365 from Go-Daddy)

Can someone give me a suggestion on the best method to migrate?

We need to migrate a Windows network share, containing 1000s of files, to Office 365 but have run into a problem with too long file names, many with special characters (@'%/\,.) etc.

Can anyone advise the best solution?

Also, does Office 365 have anything other than One Drive for file sharing.

Is there the equivalent of a network share in Office 365? Share Point.?

Hi Experts, we had used a Hybrid and Azure AD Connect to migrate all mailboxes to Office 365. After that we decommissioned Exchange from environment but still have Azure AD Connect to sync passwords. We are trying to setup Online Archive but it gives error about setting it on premise which we are doing by populating the following 2 attributes :
1. Edit msExchArchiveName of the user in local AD with the name of your online archive. E.g. Online Archive – testuser@domain.com
2.  Edit msExchRemoteRecipientType for the user with value 6. This is the part that enables the online archive.

After setting this up Online Archiving works but all users get the default MRM Policy under Retention policy. We would like all users to have No Policy. How can we do this?

Thanks

Our business has:-
Users who login to domain environment every day - passwords synch off an on prem AD.
This in turn synchs periodically to Office 365.

We also have Users who are setup on our On prem AD, who login outside the domain.
They sycnh again to Office 365.

To allow to reset their passwords - we had to configure Azure AD - with password write back.

The problem we have is the policy setup on our On prem AD needs to be the same as Azure.

So Azure is allowing passwords to be changed with less than 12 characters.
This is affecting Users logging into other services.

How do I ensure both policies are the same?

Hi people,

Last night after the successful backup on one of the primary DAG node in my data center, I can see the Active Database has been changed to the passive server in DR-Site all in a sudden ?

Database copies

PROD-DB01\PRODMBX01-VM
Passive Healthy
Copy queue length: 0
Content index state: Healthy
Suspend | Activate | Remove

PROD-DB01\RECOMBX01-VM
Active Mounted
Copy queue length: 0
Content index state: Healthy

So how can I ensure the failback to the production mailbox server is done with no email lost or email flow problem ?

What would be the impact when I click on Activate button during the business hours.

I already executed:

cluster /prop SameSubnetThreshold=20:DWORD
cluster /prop SameSubnetDelay=2000:DWORD
cluster /prop CrossSubnetThreshold=20:DWORD
cluster /prop CrossSubnetDelay=4000:DWORD
cluster /prop RouteHistoryLength=40:DWORD

Note:
The VMs are running on VMware and the backup software I use is Veeam backup.

An easy question for someone no doubt.

I have a list of contacts (200) in exchange online that appear in the GAL and post fixed to show they are external contacts. If someone is writing to the ALL USER group will the external contacts also appear in that list? Is they do, is there a way to prevent that?

Additionally all external contacts as suppliers and have been added to a SUPPLY CHAIN distribution list

Thanks

We recently switched from a pop email scenario to office 365 for our email.  All users are on outlook 2013 and had their email copied up to microsoft using a program called skykick.  When they open up their outlook program it defualts to an "offline Global address list" for contacts.  I think that is what it is called.  The other addreeses that they had in their prior to the change to office 365 are in another list called contacts.  Is there a way to combine these 2 lists?  Or maybe to default it to the contacts list and not the offiline one?
