Office 365 is a group of software plus services subscriptions that provides productivity software and related services to its subscribers. Office 365 allows the use of Microsoft Office apps on Windows and OS X, provides storage space on Microsoft's cloud storage service OneDrive, and grants 60 Skype minutes per month. Office 365 includes e-mail and social networking services through hosted versions of Exchange Server, Skype for Business Server, SharePoint and Office Online, integration with Yammer, as well as access to the Office software. All of Office 365's components can be managed and configured through an online portal; users can be added manually, imported from a CSV file, or Office 365 can be set up for single sign-on with a local Active Directory using Active Directory Federation Services.

I am just setting up Exchange and Outlook 2016 on office 365.
I have 5 users and 1 shared mailbox 3 users have full access to the shared mailbox, 2 of these uses need to have the shared mailbox as the default send address for new emails, if they reply to an email in the shared mailbox it uses the shared mail address but not is they create a new email.

How do I get it to use the shared address as the default for all emails?

I have a very weird issue I can't seem to solve. When trying to connect outlook to office 365 I'm getting a certificate popping up from remote.domainname.com that is stopping everything. I installed the latest office 365 as well. I can't seem to find where it's coming from. There was an sbs2011 server on the network a few years back and now it's a windows 2012 domain. Any time I try to use outlook upon opening a security warning with the remote.domainname.com certificate pops up, not allowing the office 365 sign in and continues to popup a login window that never works as I don't think it's pointing to right thing. I'm at a loss. Hopefully someone can help.

domainname= the .com address of the email domain but the internal domain is .local

Certificate info:

How do I get rid of this thing, I can't seem to find the cause anywhere and it's causing issues with outlook. Any help is greatly appreciated

I have set up an O365 group primarily for use of the shared calendar and its utility on our office SharePoint site.  I have set members of this group who are allowed to submit events to the calendar.  Nobody in the group needs to receive invitations when an event is submitted.  I know that individually each user can adjust their settings for the group, but is there a way for me as group owner (and O365 admin) to centrally set "Don't receive any group messages" for all members of the group?  To be clear, "Send all group conversations and events to members' inboxes" is unchecked.  Desired O365 settings for all members of the groupThanks!

In my Office 365 environment, I have a user that was "Soft-Deleted" in the Recycle Bin, date given it was soft deleted was exactly 30 days ago.

When I try to Restore it, it gives me this message:

You cannot restore this user because it is been more than 30 days since you deleted them. You can create a new user, but the data associated with the user you are trying to restore has been permanently deleted and cannot be restored.

Does this mean that is it now unrecoverable and all data has been deleted?  Or will recreating the account first be needed?  What is the pur pose of the soft deletion if it can't be restored?

Thanks Experts!

Hi,

Is there any way that I can guarantee that our Office 365 profile pictures are internal to our organisation only?

I have looked this up but the answers seems to be inconsistent.

I have heard that if you forward a colleagues Office 365 details via email the image may appear to the external recipient?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

hi guys

One of our directors has asked me some questions about what we could do in the future to reduce the need for I.T presence at one of our countries and instead have it so that the support is almost entirely run from the U.K instead.

The site at our other country has two separate sites. One is a warehouse, the other is an office. The total number of users at both sites together is around 100 users. There are firewalls at both sites. There are VPN's connecting both sites. Those sites are also connected to us in the U.K

I mean, one of the only ways to reduce the I.T presence in one place is by reducing the types of physical hardware/equipment which would constantly require physical presence, right? So things like switches, PC's dying on you, printers, file storage, SAN disks needing replacement, you name it all will require some level of physical intervention.

By heading towards Office 365 and Exchange online, would you say that helps slightly reduce the overhead?

Along with that, how about instead of having PC's that are powerful, have decent thin clients and have high enough bandwidth to give them connectivity to their own virtualised machine on like a cluster of Vmware/Hyper-V servers on a SAN that have been spun up for them. So that would then reduce the possibility of hardware/disk failures on site and instead have them run on virtual terminals. Are there performance issues with that? Are the costs in the longer term reduce and is the quality …

What is needed in order to use Skype For Business?
Basically, we'd like to use Skype For Business to share screens and chat between two persons in our company but our company is NOT using Office 365.
So we downloaded and installed Skype For Business. On the Sign In page, we see the message "Use the sign-in address for your organization - not a Skype Name or Microsoft account".
Please see attached screen shot.

What is the "sign-in address for your origanization"? How can we get it? Does this mean that we have to open an O365 account and be a subscriber?

Thanks

I can manually download these modules & install them, however the issue is that I need them on more than one server .
I have the servers behind the proxy.

When I run Install-module -name .... I get the following error:
The package provider requires 'PackageManagement' and 'Provider' tags. Please check if the specified package has the tags......

Can someone help me get over this error & let me know how to resolve this issue?

Hi everyone.

We're in a hybrid setup with Exchange 2013 and Ofice 365.

Our issue is that some users with a mailbox in Office 365 cannot send to some users with mailbox on the on-prem Exchange 2013.
I've narrowed it down to the GALs, where the primarysmtp fields are different for the same user.

On-prem GAL entry:
smtp:user.name@company.com
smtp:user.name@company.dk
SMTP:user.name@dept-company.com
smtp:initials@company.dk
smtp:initals@dept-company.com
x500:/0=ExchangeLabns/.... etc

Office 365 GAL entry:
SIP:intials@company.com
SMTP.initials@company.com
SPO:SPO_436334 etc
x500:/o=COMPANY/ou=Exchange Administrative Group [FYDI.... etc
smtp:user.name@company.copm
smtp:initials@company.onmicrosoft.com

The MAIN culprit here is of course that the user's Primary SMTP address, listed in the Office 365 GAL, does not exist on the user's mail account at all.

But why are those two GAL's different? Is that by design? Links and/or helpful answers are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Bjorn Dirchsen

I'm new to PowerShell and am trying to do a search on a mailbox for selected search terms.
My end goal is to read a CSV file with a list of search terms and the result should return True or False for each search term that exists in the mailbox.
For now what would be the command I need to return the status of the search?
The following is a simplified version of my script.

# ***********************************
# Logon
# ***********************************
$UserCredential = Get-Credential

$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://outlook.office365.com/powershell-liveid/ -Credential $UserCredential -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection

Import-PSSession $Session -DisableNameChecking

# ***********************************
# Do Processing
# ***********************************

# Is this the best way to search?
Search-Mailbox -Identity "Dave" -TargetMailbox "C1SearchResults" -TargetFolder "C1" -LogOnly -LogLevel Full -SearchQuery '12345 OR 56789 OR 13579'

# What to go here to return TRUE/FALSE if string exists.

# ***********************************
# Logoff
# ***********************************
Remove-PSSession $Session

In the Office 365 Exchange admin portal I am forwarding several users' mail to an outside address, which are mail contacts? Is it possible to also set up Out Of Office (Auto Reply) Messages for the users?  It looks like if I forward without delivering to the mailbox as well, the auto reply is not sent.  Thanks.

Is there a straightforward way to check time of removal of O365 licences for a user either through GUI or Powershell?

i am suppose to create a calendar to be shared with whole company

since we have mailboxes in office 365 and no on premise exchange server, only on premise Active directory for which AD user objects are synced through AAD sync to Azure AD.

So i created shared mailbox in office 365 and tried to gain access to that mailbox and shared calendar through OWA to few users.

i see that shared calendar showing in users outlook but it is not showing in those users directly under MY Calendar option

instead it is showing as under other or shared calendar

is there any way i can put that shared calendar under users my calendar option

i gave full access but it still shows under other calendar

Windows 10 Pro system on a local network with no domain controller.
I setup Office 365 for the company. I have their emails and phone services setup on their E5 accounts.

At this time, the office manager's account won't let her login to Outlook.

I can launch Office apps, but I can't open anything from One Drive yet.
I can't find any settings that changed, but I did want to secure her laptop to Azure AD so that when she logs in,  it would authenticate using the email address and password she uses to connect to email.   At this time I don't see any settings that have changed. I have gone in to look at Azure AD and in the portal it doesn't look like its any different from the other users.

Yet, the user can login to the computer fine, I see no Azure AD apps on the computer.

I have run the outlook troubleshooting apps and I can't find any issues.
I can't use outlook stand alone but the outlook web access works fine from the https://portal.office.com website.

I have run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365
I start outlook and I get a enter password screen
Then it comes up asking me if I want to use this account everywhere.
I can say "Allow my organization to manage my device or not" it doesn't matter
I get prompted one more time to login

I enter the email account password one more time into outlook login window and it comes up and says "Something went wrong"    We weren't able to register your device and add your account to …

We have been using Office 365 x86 for a couple of years. At the time we installed it Microsoft recommended x86 so we went with it. Now our computers are all x64 and have 8 gigs of ram. Would there be any reason not to go with Office 365 x64? No links please just hoping to find someone that is currently using Office 365 x64 that could shed some light on its stability. Also, does anyone know if Microsoft still recommends x86?

Thanks

I have created a ediscovery search in O365 portal search and compliance ediscovery.

I try to export the result by switching back to old experience and click the export button.

I usually see the next screen to specify export to a single PST.  When I click start, I do not see the

dialog box to copy the secured key and specify the file path.  I have tried this in IE, Chrome and Firefox but none of them

work.

Please advise.

Thanks.

I have a user with an Office 365 personal account. They have 10 licenses of Office. They uninstalled one and need to reinstall.  I cannot see how to deactivate one of the installs in office.com.  This link says to go to the portal and sign out but that is not an option https://support.office.com/en-us/article/deactivate-office-365-if-you-see-a-limit-reached-error-767e3560-96ed-4b1c-806d-2fe01c529b1b

Our company uses O365 for all employees. One app we use within it is Skype for Business. We would like to get a report showing how many individual messages a given user sends from Skype. The MS reports only seem to provide session counts. I know in the conversation history you can see the messages sent/received, but to manually scroll through Inboxes and count these is not practical. Are there any PS scripts for this?

Thanks for the assistance in advance!
