I was given a Sun Processor V210, ALOM 1.5.4. I am stuck in ALOM and was not given the admin password and have no way of getting it. Is there a way to reset it without using the root login and password? The only thing that it will let me do is login and password.

Hello,

I am trying to shutdown the database, but when I do I get ORA-01034 and ORA-027101. So I googled it and apparently it's because my DB is not up, so I typed "startup" and got Ora-01078 and LRM-00109.

Could you please advise? Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,
Kristyna

Hi all,
I'm trying to create a simple PL/SQL package, to insert data into one of the eBusiness suite interface tables wip_job_dtls_interface.  If I run this insert statement as an anonymous block it works fine, but as part of a package, it fails compilation with the error ORA-38818: illegal reference to editioned object

I've run: alter user appsplan enable editions but this hasn't helped

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE ASG_WIP_INTERFACE AS

PROCEDURE wip_job_dtls_interface
 (p_operation_seq_num in NUMBER,
  p_load_type in NUMBER,
  p_substitution_type in NUMBER,
  p_process_phase in NUMBER,
  p_process_status IN NUMBER);

END ASG_WIP_INTERFACE;

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY ASG_WIP_INTERFACE AS

PROCEDURE wip_job_dtls_interface
 (p_operation_seq_num in NUMBER,
  p_load_type in NUMBER,
  p_substitution_type in NUMBER,
  p_process_phase in NUMBER,
  p_process_status IN NUMBER)

IS BEGIN

insert into apps.wip_job_dtls_interface(
OPERATION_SEQ_NUM,
LOAD_TYPE,
SUBSTITUTION_TYPE,
PROCESS_PHASE,
PROCESS_STATUS,
LAST_UPDATE_DATE,
LAST_UPDATED_BY,
CREATION_DATE,

values(10,1,2,2,1,sysdate,1,sysdate,1);

commit;

END wip_job_dtls_interface;

END ASG_WIP_INTERFACE;

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi

One of the Database is generating excessive Redo. From AWR report I identified the following MV is generating excessive Redo. Can you please give me some Recommendations in fine tuning the MV so that it stops Generating Excess redo.

It is Generating almost 530 GB of Redo per day

Using Database 11g Release 2

When I run the following pl/sql script :

BEGIN
  FOR comp IN (SELECT val FROM productTable@remote_link2 WHERE PRODUCT_ID = 1111)
  LOOP
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(comp);
  END LOOP;
END;

I get the error :
ORA-06550: line 2, column 34:
PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
ORA-06550: line 2, column 16:
PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
ORA-06550: line 4, column 26:
PLS-00364: loop index variable 'COMP' use is invalid
ORA-06550: line 4, column 5:
PL/SQL: Statement ignored
06550. 00000 -  "line %s, column %s:\n%s"
*Cause:    Usually a PL/SQL compilation error.
*Action:

But when I run as pl/sql only the select statement in the for loop :
SELECT val FROM productTable@remote_link2 WHERE PRODUCT_ID = 1111;
I get the results.

Is the database link not compiling properly in a for loop?

I'm trying to find a way to make an asynchronous call from Oracle 12c to a web service.  I don't care what the web service returns and it sometimes takes a long time, so I'd like to "trigger" the call and continue with the rest of my processing, without waiting for an answer.  Is there any way to do this with utl_http or something similar?  I'm also considering using DBMS_Scheduler, but as a newer Oracle user who's more experienced with websites, I just feel there's got to be something better.  Does anyone know of any other way?
Thank you for your time.

PS  I have read everything I can find, including the manual, and I can't find an answer to this.

PPS  Also, the reason I'm trying to do this is because the timeout is not working on the utl_http call in Oracle 12c--it was working before the 12c upgrade from 11g.  I also haven't seen anything on this and I'm not a DBA.  So, if you know anything about set_transfer_timeout not working in 12c, that would be very useful.  I know we are connecting and if we were willing to wait 15 minutes, we'd get a response as the work is done after 15 minutes on the server (and yes, someone else is working on fixing that too).  So, I don't think it's a connection timeout.

My company wants to enable Single Sign On for Oracle EBS R12  which will authenticate users from their windows username and password.
So we have not OID/OAM, we have only EBS and Microsoft Active Directory now. How can I do this for E-Business Suite 12?

Thanks so much!!

I have this reporting project that involves 3 data sources, 2 of the 3 data sources are structured data (SQL Server and Oracle), the 3rd data source is flat files by which I have do lots of parsing, so the question is, how would you approach such project? How would you deal with the flat files, I have my own thoughts but I'm interested in your thoughts on the matter.

Many thanks
