A personal computer is a general-purpose computer whose size, capabilities and price make it useful for individuals, and is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer time-sharing models that allowed systems to be used by many people, usually at the same time. Personal computers may be connected to a local area network (LAN), either by a cable or a wireless connection, and through that to the Internet. A personal computer may be a laptop computer or a desktop computer running an operating system such as Windows, Linux or Macintosh OS.

I have a new PC with two Displayport connections for my monitors.  My monitors only has a VGA connection and an HDMI connection.  Would it be better to connect the monitors to the VGA connection or the HDMI connection?  I need to purchase the adapters and need to know which would be better to connect to. (VGA to Displayport or HDMI to Displayport).

Thank you

I am trying to do a system image of a windows 10 PC with a 1 Tb ADATA external hard drive.
The process gets stuck at about the 50% mark.  There are 176 GB of data and programs on the
source drive.  What do you think is the cause and what should I do to deal with this problem?
Can Azure be used so that I can give many people access to a windows application?
The many people will be using Macs or PCs.
The users are not related in any way.
The application will create files that need to be private to the user.
I would like to know if I am buying the right SD card for my DSLR Canon T3i. In the chart attached from Amazon it states that my CPU has to have 128GB of RAM. I only have 16 GB. Does that mean I will not be able to use the card to transfer content of the SD card onto my PC. Also what should I look for when buying a SD card? There are so many numbers on it . It gets confusing. Class 10 , The read/write speed, UHS class I, III. I just need something with large capacity and fast transfer to my PC . Also does the image quality of pictures or video depends on the camera it self and NOT the SD card. Please help me.

Thank you,

We are undergoing a Security Audit of our internal computer systems by an external 3rd party auditor.
We just rolled out new Windows 10 PCs to 75% of our staff and everything is working great.
We use Ivanti for patch management and all PCs are fully patched with all Windows updates and application security patches.
My question is:
What benefit , security wise, is there in ensuring that Service Packs are all completely up to date?
i.e. Does Windows 10 Service Pack 1909 contain more security patches or benefits if all individual Windows updates and security patches are already up to date?
I'd rather not install the Service Pack since all is working fine.

I am trying to transfer selected emails from Outlook 2016 on one PC to another PC running Outlook 2016 . What is the best method to use
I recently updated Windows 10 to version 1909. Prior to the update I was able to log into my workplace application that uses Citrix with no issue. Now I can log in via wireless connection on my laptop, but cannot log in on my PC that is connected to my home network via ethernet.

I have tried using the compatibility trouble shooter and even when it tried running the application it fails.

After opening up the application, I enter my user Id, password and security code, and a window comes up where I hit a button to connect. In the past, the receiver pulled down an ICA file and a status bar opened up showing the status of the connection. Instead of it progressing to completion, it now stops with "connection in progress" and goes no further. When it finally times out, I get an error stating Unable to connect to the server, there is no Citrix SSL server at the specified address.

As stated before, I can connect via wireless but not ethernet. I am using the same address, log in, etc., on both laptop and PC.

I'm trying to share files on my PC with my Android phone.

I've tried going through all the articles I can find on file sharing and home networks but nothing so far has worked.

On my phone I have a file explorer with a "network neighbourhood" option, clicking on that I can see my PC. When I click on the PC I am prompted for username and password which I give, but I then get "connection failed".

I'm on Windows 10. I just have a TP-Link Powerline and regular WiFi to connect my PC.

This is the sort of articile I've been using to set up file sharing on my PC.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?
I am using Migration Assistant to transfer data from my old PC to a Windows 10 partition on my Macbook Pro but the process has got stuck half way through on copying One Drive. I am using Bootcamp
Hi Experts,

I usually work remotely from home PC to my work PC using GoToMyPC.

Many times I need to copy a screenshot from my home PC and paste it somewhere at the work PC, usually in MS Paint.

What I do is paste and save them locally, then use GoToMyPC transfer file utility to save that at the work PC.

Wondering if there is an easier way to accomplish it?

Is anyone aware of a way to add a workgroup PC running Windows 10 Enterprise to a domain (and since the user is already in Active Directory), when the user logs into the machine after it is on the domain, the profile that was used before [when the PC was in a workgroup] will be the profile that loads when the user logs in with domain authentication credentials?
Script was working on another PC. I moved a surveillance system to a new PC and I want to schedule a script to delete files older than 20 days to maintain disk space.

The system stores video in E:\Record. There are 4 subfolders called Cam01, Cam02 etc..

This is the script:

' Specify base folder to purge, and age in days of files to keep
Const strDir = "E:\Record"
Const intAge = 20

' Create file system object
Set objFSO = WScript.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

' Remove old files recursively
RemoveOldFiles objFSO.GetFolder(strDir)

Sub RemoveOldFiles(objFolder)
    On Error Resume Next

' If no files of subfolders exist on first check, leave it alone
    If objFolder.Files.Count = 0 And objFolder.Subfolders.Count = 0 Then
        Exit Sub
    End If

' Remove any files older than specified days from this folder
    For Each objFile In objFolder.Files
        intFileAge = DateDiff("d", objFile.DateLastModified, Now)
        If intFileAge > intAge Then
            Wscript.Echo "Deleted file: """ & objFile.Path & """ Age: " & intFileAge & """."
        End If

' See if we were able to access this folder, if not don't recurse into it
    If Err.Number = 0 Then
' Remove all older files in any subfolders of this one
        For Each objSubFolder In objFolder.Subfolders
            RemoveOldFiles objSubFolder

' Report error if anable to access a folder

We have all PC computers.  One user wants to create videos on his MAC but he is not allowed to use his personal computer for work.

So I am looking for the best solution.   Buy him a MAC or get a good PC for creating videos.

Can videos created on a MAC be played on a Windows PC?
I have a small "network" consisting of three computers and a "File Server" (peer to peer).  This supports an Access 216 database.  The server has a file that contains the "Back End" Tables, and each PC (Call them PCA, PCB, PCC) has an identical copy of the User Interface.  This has worked well for years.

PROBLEM:  All of a sudden some of the data displayed on each PC is different from data displayed on the others.  Example: Updating a record on one PC is NOT reflected on the other two [b/].  The same data table can have DIFFERENT NUMBER OF RECORDS on each PC[b/].  Worse:  If I open the Back End file on the "server" I find that in many cases the data there is also different from that on  some or all the PC's

Example  The User Interface on PCA  can show 100 records for the widgets table and the User Interface on PCB may show 110 records while the User Interface on PCC could have either the same number (100 or 110) or it could have 95 records.

Is it possible that the file server has created separate copies of the same table.  I searched using a File Search program but could not fine any copies of the table(s).

Has anyone experienced something similar?  This is only happening since I installed Access 2016.  It never happened with Access 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 etc.....

I look forward to hearing your comments.

Hi Experts,

My Windows 7 pro suddenly stopped transmitting sounds, how can I troubleshoot this?

Already tried the following.

How to Troubleshoot No Sound in Windows 7
Click "Start" in the lower-left corner of your screen.
Click "Control Panel." The Control Panel window will appear.
Click "System and Security." ...
Click the "+" icon to the left of "Sound, game and video controllers." ...
Right-click your sound card device.

How to get past this ?
I transferred by drive to a new computer using PC Mover.
EVERYTHING move over great except for Office 2016 which I uninstalled on the new computer and then reinstalled using the license key.

The problem that I came across today is the my Visual Studio 2015 (which I have an original license for) shows as 'expired promotional...' I've tried to do the same thing with VS with varying results that include a pop-up form that says working on it and the like which just hangs and I have to close through task manager. I've even let the form sit overnight and most of the way through a day which was about 34 hours. The form does not show any activity through task manager.

1. I went to apps and tried to uninstall however the only option I have is modify. The behaviors are the same as above.
2. The uninstall option through the menu repeats the behavior as above.
3. I can see due to the file size that VS 2015 is still installed
4. I would like to use the software.
5. I installed a trial copy of Visual Studio 2019 which I don't particularly want to spend the better part of the thousand dollars for however it did work just fine.

How can I either get to a point where I can use my VS 2015 license key or get the software to uninstall?
Hi, i have a folder on a Windows 10 PC (PC A) that i want to share with another PC (PC B). The folder on PC A is assigned to an account with a password. I can see the folder on PC A across the network on PC B but it doesn't give me any sign-in options (Account Name/ Password). I just keep getting the message 'You do not have permission to access \\PC_NAME\Folder' contact your network administrator to request access.

I'm sure this used to work fine!
Thanks for any help

I have an Access DB, running on an office PC.
I'd like have a webpage that displays data from this DB.
I have a shared drive that can be used so others can see this webpage - without directly addressing Access.
This page will be designed as a dashboard, and will have a wide variety of links, tables, charts.
How do I setup a connection & display the data?
Thank you in advance.
Setup a remote Windows 10 (1903) PC for a customer the other day.

All available updates were successfully completed, however shortly after I had to perform a PC Reset due to an issue with the system's network adapter defaulting to the "public" network profile rather than the set "private" profile.

The reset installation completed successfully and the user files were restored from backup.

I noticed no "new" updates were available, and the update history is empty, however uninstall updates does show 4 or 5 updates

I downloaded a .NET update (kb4516115) to attempt to install manually, but receive an error stating the security update was already installed.

Short of performing a clean install

Is there a way I can get the PC's update database to see what's installed and update itself
Is there a way to force a re-download/re-install of all updates

I've already tried resetting the update tool with no change
I have a Microsoft work account that is tied to Microsoft 365 Business.  That is the account that will be used to setup my PC at home.  Can I add a local account for someone in my family to access the computer also?  I created a local account and I don't see a way for that user to login since it asks for an email address on the login screen.
