A personal computer is a general-purpose computer whose size, capabilities and price make it useful for individuals, and is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer time-sharing models that allowed systems to be used by many people, usually at the same time. Personal computers may be connected to a local area network (LAN), either by a cable or a wireless connection, and through that to the Internet. A personal computer may be a laptop computer or a desktop computer running an operating system such as Windows, Linux or Macintosh OS.

I have been battling with RDP and SSL issues for awhile and need some outside help.

I have a domain with a Remote Desktop Server running Server 2016.
I have an SSL with main website.com, ad.website.com, servername.ad.website.com, and a few others on it.
The windows domain is a .local as it has been carried over for years and was setup by a novice.

This SSL is installed on the RDS server for each of the RDS roles.

When I try to connect to the RD server from a PC on the domain I get "Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server address requested and the certificate subject name do not match. Contact your network administrator for assistance."

So my question is, is there something I am missing that can get me by without having to rename the domain or is that the only route?

One pc in network must write to a random file, on a shared map ,   to a specific record nummer one string in a field  without closing the file it will do that on a event or command  , thus update that record with new string
Other Pc must open that file, keeps it open, and reads every 2 second that record, if string has value
it will read it and sets record to zero spaces and update file
How  to do this without conflict ???

Hi,

I have a friend who has a spinal injury that has confined him to bed. He uses a Windows 10 PC, which is connected to his flatscreen TV for a monitor.

For a mouse, he uses a Kensington Expert Mouse (Trackball) and his keyboard is the Windows On-screen Keyboard, that comes with the Ease of Access Tools.

In recent weeks, he has started experiencing latency problems when he tries to type using the trackball and on-screen keyboard.

My first thoughts were malware or a virus, so I scanned using Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, and Avira, and did not find anything. I also could not find anything in the WIndows Event Logs that could point to a problem.

The only other program he has open is Google Chrome, which he uses to access on online game.

Can someone please suggest a course of action to try to remedy the problem?

Thanks

Hi,

I need help with Outlook Password prompt issue!!

Outlook 2010 connected to Exchange Server 2010 always prompts to enter password whenever we restart the Outlook. It only happens on one user PC.

I tried performing the steps below but nothing works, when I restart my PC and open Outlook it again prompts me to enter password.

1. Cleared cached passwords.
2. Renamed Outlook .ost file.
3. Deselected the "Always prompt for logon credentials" check box.
4. Turned off Outlook Anywhere by unchecking "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP"
5. Created New Profile in outlook.

Is there any other way that we can stop this happening?

We have an old laptop that has Windows 7 and some very specific software that our finance dept uses. We no longer have access to this software that was created by company that is no longer in business. Users typically remote into this machine to run this software that requires SOAP UI Utilities and Office 2003 to work. We would like to Clone this PC unto another similar PC so more than person can access this software and perform the same function. All that being said, can we close the hard drive of that laptop unto another laptop (Does it have to be the same make and model?) so we can have an exact duplicate of that system? I was thinking about using Clonezilla.

I have a number of users that will often use different PCs throughout their work week.  Many of them lock the PC they're using when they're done with it as opposed to logging off.  I've seen user sessions that have been logged into a PC for nearly a week.

This occupies resources on the PC that could be used by the person currently logged into the computer.  It also causes multiple bad password attempts from those workstations if a user changes their password on another PC.  The result in that case can be multiple lockouts of that person's account.

Is there a way to auto log off Disconnected sessions of local users?  To be clear, I know there is a group policy option to log off remotely connected users located at Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Session Time Limits > Set time limit for disconnected sessions.  I've tested this though and it does not seem to affect sessions that were logged on locally.

Hello,
I am trying to run a powershell script that runs via sccm task sequencer via "task sequence media" option.
The goal is to recieve user input right after the os installation to change computer name since the step after that is to add that computer to the domain.

After i create the media (USB), i run it and when it reaches the script part i get an error :
sccm-error.jpg
i.e.
if i disable this step , everything else works fine, including adding the pc to the domain - only it recives random name.

tried one other thing instead,  write from fixed pc to shared disk in host
reading in time loop for file, if found , open/read/delete file  , same speed as converter

would there be way (should be terrible fast!)  to write to a memory loctation either on fixed pc or vmware host or vmware server  and read inside host (old dos style peeking)  one one of these then used memory location

I can only use two of the three monitors at a time.

This is a Win7 Pro desktop PC with a GEForce 210 video card, with a VGA, HDMI, and DVI connector.  The primary monitor is connected to the HDMI port.   I have a DVI-VGA converter plugged into the DVI port.  If I connect all three monitors, one of the non-primary monitors will be black.  The 3rd monitor does appear on the Windows Screen resolution setup screen, but its icon is darker grey, and the Resolution and Orientation fields are greyed out.  The Multiple displays field says Disconnect this display, and no matter what I change it to from the dropdown, it ignores me and goes back to Disconnect this display.

The Nvidia control panel only sees two monitors at a time, i.e. never three like Windows does, but if I disconnect one of the side monitors, then the Nvidia control panel "sees" the other side monitors and displays its model name correctly.  Note that I just now downloaded the latest driver for the GEForce 210 and rebooted.

Is this card incapable of running three monitors, or am I doing something wrong?  TIA

I run across business customers who want to use multiple monitors, but their computers don't offer enough video ports and/or the wrong types.  Typically they are on Win10 or Win7.

I can install a video card, or I can connect multiple USB adapters, such as USB- to-HDMI.  Keeping in mind that this is just for small office use, I need guidance as to whether one of these methods is the definite "best choice"--and why.  TIA

The customer wants to use three new monitors for the office computer, for typical office apps.  All it has on the motherboard is one VGA and one DisplayPort, so I wanted to get a video card that would support all three monitors using the HDMI and/or DP ports on the monitors--which is all they have, being large and new.  But every reasonably priced video card I look at has VGA, DP, and DVI--and of course VGA and DVI do me no good in this case.

Is there such a thing as a reasonably priced video card that has all DP and/or HDMI outputs?  Low profile would be even better.  Again, I'm not looking for hi-res graphics or gaming features.  Rather, I'm just trying to get access to three "modern" video ports for this PC.

Or, should I buy three USB HDMI video adapter dongles--and expect that to look good and for Windows 7 to manage all three screens properly?  TIA

Hi, we have an application that is downloaded from the server onto the client PC to run. Due to the nature of the application, I would prefer if the PC was used as a dumb terminal to access the application from a server. Would something like virtulised PCs/VMs, Citrix metaframe be the answer. Many Thanks.

Hello,

Is there any way to check which users/or connections from a PC are being made to a particular SQL database (SQL 2012)?

It would be handy to know this information at a particular time, or over a recent period of time.

Thanks in advance.

We are about to purchase 50 pcs. 40 will be placed in store offices where most of the usage is basic functions accessing our web applications. The PCs that I'm about to purchase comes with Windows 10 Pro. Is there a strong reason to consider Windows 10 Enterprise? Some of the current computers in our stores have Enterprise and some have Pro. The remote systems are connect via WAN.

I am interested in buying a an Android PC suite phone manager. After doing extensive research I was able to limit my choices down to 3 products. All seem to be the best as far as feature rich, compatibility and ease of use. These are Dr.Fone , TunesGO {I believe both products are available from Wondershare.com vendor}and lastly Apowersoft phone manager. I would like to know if the 2 products by wondershare
are the same and if not what is the difference between them? lastly which one would be the best PC suite phone manager to buy from all three. For backup, recovery purposes. Please if possible provide me with a comparison chart of these 3 product. I was unable to find anything on Google and I spent a lot of time doing so.
Thank you,
Basem

I have a Lenovo P520c with 3 HD's and I want to RAID the drives. I have Intel Rapid Storage installed, I went into the UEFI and changed it from AHCI to RAID. How ever when I do that the PC wont boot and there is a warning on that setting stating changing it may cause it not to boot. My question is there a way I can get this RAID built out without blowing away the OS and rebuilding it?

I am having problems with my IIS settings on a PC that I am setting up for a client.  Several applications require IIS to be enabled, but it is not working properly.  Whenever these apps try to conncect via a browser, I get an error message that says the service in unavailable.  I think that the problem lies in the application pools.  I have reset Windows back to factory settings, but the problem still persists.  What else can I do?

When installing new computers part of my job it to transfer end user data to the new computer. This all works well except the archived .pst files. All I am doing is moving them from one PC to another but when I go to map them to Outlook I get an error message that says - "The file C:\users\username\Documents\Outlook Files\archive.pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst)." I have tried to run scanpst but I get the same error. I have checked the attributes for Read Only but they are not set as read only. In fact, the attributes are exactly the same as the file on the previous computer.  I have tried copying the files to a network location and then to the new computer with the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The Outlook version is 2016.

Thank you.

Hi - How do we change the user account that was used to install Office 365 ProPlus (as part of Office 365 E3) on a PC?

We have a user who has now left the company. Within their account properties, under 'My Installs', it shows that they have installed Office 365 ProPlus on 1 device. The device has now been passed to another user. How do we transfer the Office 365 ProPlus install to another user? We intend to remove the users (who has now left) account in Office 365 shortly and do not want the installed Office 365 ProPlus suite to run in reduced functionality mode.

I hope this makes sense

Had to reset a PC running windows 10.  Selected the save my files option. Fortunately 'My Documents' was redirected to a server location to ensure daily backup. Applications have been reinstalled including Office 2019 std.  Almost a painless but time consuming incident.  I said almost...  Microsoft OneNote comes up with no notes.  I am looking for a means to get it to recognize the previous data which looks to still be in a 'documents\onenote' folder. There is also data in the 'windows.old' folder created by the reset which has data in an appropriate 'appdata' folder. Exercising my Google-fu I am looking for a graceful way to recover the notes either from the data files themselves, or from the backup folder left behind in the old appdata folder. Everything I am finding so far starts with "Click File.....", however there is no "file" to click in the 2019 OneNote application!
Can anyone point to a way to recover the notebook?
