Peripherals

A peripheral device is defined as a computer device, such as a keyboard or printer, that is not part of the essential computer (i.e., the memory and microprocessor). These auxiliary devices are intended to be connected to the computer and used in conjunction with it. Examples of external peripherals include mouse, keyboard, printer, monitor, external Zip drive or scanner, while internal peripherals include CD-ROM drive, CD-R drive or internal modem. Today's new devices, such as tablets, smartphones and wearable computing devices are considered peripherals as they can be connected and used on a computer system. The difference, however, is that these devices can run independently of the computer system.

Hi,

In our training room, which sometimes gets reconfigured with no tables for an open space, we are looking to get wall mounts that will allow items such as a keyboard to sit very tightly against the wall when it is not in use and which can be pulled out from wall when needed.

The wall mount adjustable keyboard tray with an extendable arm should meet the requirements below:

1.       Extendable arm with full range of swivel motion which can rotate left and right with ease.

2.       Height adjustable arm which can be adjusted upwards and downwards. It will need to appear as if it is sitting on a table where a person is using it. Also, when moving the arm to the position we need it to be in, the arm should lock in place.

3.      Wall mount track to allow for extendable arm to be moved vertically so extendable arm can be moved lower when in use and higher when not in use.

4.      The tray should be foldable upwards, downwards and be lockable so that the tray can be placed tightly against the wall.

5.      The wall mount tray should support the weight of objects such as a keyboard for weights up to 15 kg.

Thanks,
Robbie

I haven't used my Surface Book for a week or two. Turned it on today, and the surface arc bluetooth mouse won't work.  I can't get anyone on the line at MS Support; and the canned advise doesn't work.  Any bluetooth experts out there who can give me a hand?

So, editing a few hours later.  The issue here is that ordinarily what one does is to open the services option, and go to the bluetooth page, then You click and the thing connects with your bluetooth item, in this case an arch surface mouse.  But unlike in the past two years, the two can't pair. So the mouse doesn't work.  This has worked fine for two or more years ago that I have had a Surface Book.  Something has changed.  What?

A school has been able to acquire a number of Smartboards for classroom use.  Math teachers and science teachers are the majority of the recipients.  Does anybody know of a good trainer that can show these teachers uses within a school setting?

hi techs,
I am trying to play videos and pictures from my Note 5 to my Apple TV and suddenly it's not working in the last one year or so. The last time at work successfully was about a year ago and I was using allcast.  this week I've been trying to connect my phone again and no matter what I try my Note 5 will not detect the Apple TV and if some of the apps do list it it will not connect. I also tried my work Android phone which is I think an S7 and it wouldn't connect either. I have reset the network connections several times on both units and tried repeatedly with no success. I'm starting to wonder if Apple has made a change that everybody but me knows about. at this point what I think I'm going to do is buy the Chromecast and plug that in right alongside the Apple TV to see if I can use that to interface with my phone since all of the apps I've downloaded aren't working at all. My Note 5 is up-to-date with the most recent software and the Apple TV is also up-to-date with the most recent software and it is only about one year old. Any assistance with this issue is appreciated.
 thank you

I am currently setting up a training room where I want everything to be automated. I have door style windows on a slanted roof that currently needs to be opened manually. The problem is that the windows are very high, and it is not practical to try and open them manually.

They are side hung escape windows with wooden frames and dimensions 660x1180mm.

I want to convert the windows so they can open automatically, preferably using a remote or voice commands using my SmartThings hub or Amazon Alexa. Would this be possible?

Would you be able to guide me to the type of window opener/actuator that would best suit my window and what else I would need to get to be able to use my SmartThings hub or IFTTT event triggering.

Any solutions would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Robbie

Greetings !
I have a hybrid environment with vmachines running locally and on the web (Rackspace).  With my current configuration I have a VPN tunnel between both environments.  The problem is when I lose power, my internal servers and peripherals crash and when they are brought back up it is hard to get DHCP services back online, bring up the tunnel,  etc.   Is it possible to set it up where my internal servers fail over to another DHCP server I could set up at Rackspace?  The advantage being that once power is restored they could instantly get leases, etc.  Is this something covered in the 2012 MS server DHCP functionality?  Ultimately I would like to set something up which "takes care of itself".

Thanks,

Eric

Hello,

We are running into issues with having web cameras hooked up to Wyse Terminals.

Has anyone ever successfully got a web camera setup with a Wyse terminal? When the webcam is plugged into the Wyse terminal states usb device not supported behind a high speed hub. I have tried all of the USB ports on the device but nothing seems to work.

We were able to get the device to show up once but video was choppy.

Any Input/Help would be greatly appreciated.

My team has had reoccurring issue with usb peripherals, ( keyboard, mouse, web cams) stop working.  Event logs ID 219 indicates several "Kernel-PnP" events  in which  drivers fail to load.

Root hubs in device manager states  driver failed to load for hardware because previous instance of the driver is still in memory (code  38)

the issue  does not reoccur once Citrix receiver is uninstalled.
so has anyone seen this issue and knows definitively why would Citrix receiver cause a fault.

Environment  - Win7 Ent -x64

Hi,
We are having some strange issues using USB devices on HP Windows 10 PCs: the main device in question is a Velleman Relay Control board but I don't think the problem is restricted to that as similar issues happen with a signature pad from another supplier.. the facts of my situation are as follows:
1. On connection, device allocates itself a COM port and works fine
2. After a restart, trying to connect to the device using a 'test program' from the supplier, I get a message 'Failed to connect:Access is denied'.
3. Same message appears even after full shutdown / restart
4. Works fine as soon as the usb cable is unplugged / re-plugged in.
5. I have this issue on 3 identical HP pcs, having said that, I have another 3 of the same pcs working perfectly in situ for some time. I've even taken clone images of the working pcs but still seem to get issues.
6. Another device will not work after a reboot which I'm hoping is related to this issue as well.
7. Sometimes (!), after a reboot I don't get an error message and although communication appears to work without error, the device does not seem to get any data or therefore respond either.
This is driving me crazy as I've tried various combinations of connections via pc port and usb hubs (usb 2 / usb 3 / different cables) etc. I have many of the products in stock as well so I've tried several new ones to eliminate faulty products. Been struggling with this for weeks if not months now, to the point where I'm purchasing new …

I am struggling to set up the TWAIN driver for CanoScan 4200F.  My system runs on Win 7 Pro 64.

I have downloaded the Driver file from Canon several times and have run the setup.  It appears the setup runs too fast.  The file is extracted, and installation location is provided, evidently ./ (period and forward slash).  The issue may be that the form where the download directory can be changed or other adjustments to the download made, is hidden during the super quick download.  Once the download and installation is finished, the form closes.

When attempting to scan a project, an error message stating: "Unable to select TWAIN  resource."

NOTE:  I have entered what I think is the correct path in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp;C:\Windows\twain_32\CNQ4200 .

This action is recommended on many help sites.  BUT, in my case, this does not resolve the problem.

I'd be grateful for your help in an understandable manner.

Sticky Keys are not turned on and this has only recently been happening but when I use “SHIFT” + any of the number keys for punctuation it only gives me a number as if “SHIFT” was not pressed. Eg. “SHIFT” + “2” should give me “@” but it gives me 2. Yet “SHIFT” + “=” gives me “+” meaning that the shift does work but just not with numbers. Does anyone know what has happened and how I can fix this?

Thanks.

hello gamers . I have a twin usb game pad . My main pad is spoilt so I wanted to cut the usb to join it directly to the second one. Buh my problem now is the usb cord has 4 wires(white, green, red, black) while the pad also has 4 (white, green, red, yellow). Is there any way I can join these wires together to make it work? Thanks.
