We have an APC SURT5000XLI UPS that will not power up.

It just has an illuminated Fault LED, and the 3rd and 4th Battery Level LEDs on. See embedded image.

Can anyone translate what its trying to say? I can't find a fault finding guide anywhere, other than 'engineer required'. Such an engineer scratched his head, and said it needed replacing...

Thanks

Would it be possible to use an external webcam and headset for any type of ultraportable to use for Skype calls, providing it has Windows 10?:

Hello,

We are running into issues with having web cameras hooked up to Wyse Terminals.

Has anyone ever successfully got a web camera setup with a Wyse terminal? When the webcam is plugged into the Wyse terminal states usb device not supported behind a high speed hub. I have tried all of the USB ports on the device but nothing seems to work.

We were able to get the device to show up once but video was choppy.

Any Input/Help would be greatly appreciated.

My team has had reoccurring issue with usb peripherals, ( keyboard, mouse, web cams) stop working.  Event logs ID 219 indicates several "Kernel-PnP" events  in which  drivers fail to load.

Root hubs in device manager states  driver failed to load for hardware because previous instance of the driver is still in memory (code  38)

the issue  does not reoccur once Citrix receiver is uninstalled.
so has anyone seen this issue and knows definitively why would Citrix receiver cause a fault.

Environment  - Win7 Ent -x64

Modem says it has been installed,
shows in device manager, but indicates no driver installed.
In Control Panel under Phones and Modems it shows...but says not functional.
Did updates, even installed a USB RS232 and set it for com 4, still, that item shows ok in
device manager, but will not install a functional modem.
Tried two different usb modems US Robotics
Tried another USR v92 serial model.
Any ideas out there?

Hi,
We are having some strange issues using USB devices on HP Windows 10 PCs: the main device in question is a Velleman Relay Control board but I don't think the problem is restricted to that as similar issues happen with a signature pad from another supplier.. the facts of my situation are as follows:
1. On connection, device allocates itself a COM port and works fine
2. After a restart, trying to connect to the device using a 'test program' from the supplier, I get a message 'Failed to connect:Access is denied'.
3. Same message appears even after full shutdown / restart
4. Works fine as soon as the usb cable is unplugged / re-plugged in.
5. I have this issue on 3 identical HP pcs, having said that, I have another 3 of the same pcs working perfectly in situ for some time. I've even taken clone images of the working pcs but still seem to get issues.
6. Another device will not work after a reboot which I'm hoping is related to this issue as well.
7. Sometimes (!), after a reboot I don't get an error message and although communication appears to work without error, the device does not seem to get any data or therefore respond either.
This is driving me crazy as I've tried various combinations of connections via pc port and usb hubs (usb 2 / usb 3 / different cables) etc. I have many of the products in stock as well so I've tried several new ones to eliminate faulty products. Been struggling with this for weeks if not months now, to the point where I'm purchasing new …

Does anyone know how to change the language on a Microsoft Band 2?   I left the battery drained and recharge so that it could prompt me to select the language and at one point, I did choose English and was able to get it programmed to work again and somehow, the language is set to something else.  I tried re-draining the battery and recharging but it isn't prompting me to change the language. I may be going into a circle here.

I don't see how to change it under settings or under the Microsoft Health appl.

thank you in advance.

I am struggling to set up the TWAIN driver for CanoScan 4200F.  My system runs on Win 7 Pro 64.

I have downloaded the Driver file from Canon several times and have run the setup.  It appears the setup runs too fast.  The file is extracted, and installation location is provided, evidently ./ (period and forward slash).  The issue may be that the form where the download directory can be changed or other adjustments to the download made, is hidden during the super quick download.  Once the download and installation is finished, the form closes.

When attempting to scan a project, an error message stating: "Unable to select TWAIN  resource."

NOTE:  I have entered what I think is the correct path in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp;C:\Windows\twain_32\CNQ4200 .

This action is recommended on many help sites.  BUT, in my case, this does not resolve the problem.

I'd be grateful for your help in an understandable manner.

Have you assisted with using a scanner with barcodes to trigger a macro?  I have tried to "record" them using the scanner.  It records ok. But when I go to use the scanner it doesn't run the macro.  But if I go to the macros list, and run it by clicking it goes..  Do I have to setup the scanner for macros in excel?

Keyboard in question is a Rosewill RK9000v2 BR (brown mech switches).
I am having a problem getting my PS/2 keyboard to work unless I unplug and replug the keyboard while the system is on. I understand that you need to have the keyboard already plugged in before turning the system on, but this did not fix the problem. Upon starting up the system, all lock keys flash at bios splash screen, following with the NUM lock key staying on, same thing again when windows splash screen comes up. The keyboard will not operate, and the keys can't be used to get into bios. The keyboard will work again if i unplug and replug the keyboard at the windows user log in screen. Doing so will turn off the NUM lock light. Strangely enough, If the system is turned off, the lock keys stays lit. With the USB, everything works on start up, but I will not be able to take advantage of the features.

I've been troubleshooting this issue for the last 4 days.
In my case I'm using this w/ an Asus Z97 Pro Gamer motherboard. In another a GIGABYTE GA-Z170N-Gaming 5.

So we can deduce that :

Because we have the same keyboard and different motherboards that this is most likely isolated to this particular keyboard model.

Further more because the keyboard functions perfectly (without the benefit of NKRO) with the USB cable that this is an issue with the PS/2 protocol in relation to this particular keyboard.
If you are curious and like to do some reading about the PS/2 protocol the following resource …

Sticky Keys are not turned on and this has only recently been happening but when I use “SHIFT” + any of the number keys for punctuation it only gives me a number as if “SHIFT” was not pressed. Eg. “SHIFT” + “2” should give me “@” but it gives me 2. Yet “SHIFT” + “=” gives me “+” meaning that the shift does work but just not with numbers. Does anyone know what has happened and how I can fix this?

Thanks.

Hello! I have an HP Elitebook 8460p Win7Pro 64bit that has this issue where the laptop keyboard stops working. I connect a USB keyboard which also does not respond. This is intermittent though. I already tried reinstalling the keyboard driver via Device Manager. It recurred though. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

hello gamers . I have a twin usb game pad . My main pad is spoilt so I wanted to cut the usb to join it directly to the second one. Buh my problem now is the usb cord has 4 wires(white, green, red, black) while the pad also has 4 (white, green, red, yellow). Is there any way I can join these wires together to make it work? Thanks.

I have a customer that has about 8 check scanners for different banks.  Right now the check scanners are connected to certain employee's computers.  The issue we are having is that when we tried to add multiple scanners to one computer, they conflict with each other.  The bank tech support states that we should only have one scanner per computer.   Is there a way we can centralize all check scanners in one location using Hyper-V?  Can we assign a particular USB port to a particular VM?  My first idea was to order 8 Lenovo Tiny computers with a KVM switch but would consider Hyper-V.  Any thoughts?

Hello,
I run a two DC Windows 2012 R2 STD environment with group policy.
Our company has just implemented (finally) my I.T. security policy.   Which covers Thumb Drives.
I'm tired of people bringing in personal thumb drives that have torrent downloads, viruses, etc. on them.

I have done my reading and reach on how to disable thumb drives via group policy.
However, I cannot find a good article that tells me how to allow certain USB drives.   Currently I have purchased several thumb drives and obtained the serial number from them using Nirsoft's USBVIEW.
I'd like to know how to allow these "corporate thumb drives" while denying others.
BTW, we have Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 as clients in our environment.

Please advise
Thank you

I am involved in writing a point of sales system in C# .Net 4.0.  To capture credit card information we are using a VeriFone mx 870.  I am having trouble connecting the device properly.  I can open the device, put a message on the screen, and retrieve card information.  However, it takes a very long time.  Also, on the LineDisplay.ClearText and LineDisplay.DislayText  an exception is thrown that says device off-line.  The text does clear or display.  I am using Microsoft POS for .Net 1.12 and VeriFone's OPOS.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong. or what I am missing?  I don't think it should take several seconds to open or claim the device.
