Hey guys,

We have several offices across the globe.  What I just stumble across is a custom fees.  I just built a new Avocent KVM switch and shipped it over to Shanghai to rack and connect it.
Now they asked me to send them the exact description (RAM,CPU, etc) and..... approce the custom fees ~$600US.  This is like 25% of the unit's cost.

I wonder if this is normal and how other guys go around this.  Or maybe nothing I can do..
Please share?

Looking for open source Project Management (PM) tools that can be used in mainland China.  These tools MUST be able to communicate to the US.  Having trouble finding third part PM tools that can communicate through the respective firewalls.

Thanks in advanced,

Just like in other countries (russia, china, latin america, etc.)

Open for discussion.

It will eliminate the need to have tax people
Save millions in new tax reforms.  Why not?

Why people who work harder or smarter should be punished for it?
Get rid of all deductions but have a single tax
 Easy for everyone.

I'm interested in finding out how many books people own and how that ownership splits down.  E.g. what proportion of people own more than 10, more than 100, more than 1000 books and perhaps what type of books they are.

I know this isn't exactly a technical question, but I'm sure there's some one out there who knows the answer or where to find it.

I'm mainly interested in English speaking countries, but non English speaking data would also be valuable.

Hi

I suck at dating and talking with chicks.
My last date was a - WTF do I talk about now embarrassment. I watched her eat. Which I won't deny, was pleasant, but that was the end of it. She was about as interesting as a shoe-box ( it was a blind date, but I tried to get her to open up, but nothing.)

Apparently, I find out, she is a bit of a non-virtuous sort. So, no biggie.

but
I did not know what to talk about. I need a play book, or a QB's wrist band full of topics.
My neural nets in my projects, biometrics, PHP etc is only slightly interesting for my friends.
I don't even want to talk about Drew Brees or my other fav sportsmen.

I come off as the most boring idiot, and I don't know what to do.
I am 32 and want to be married.
I think I might get walk-out incidents if I carry on.

Is there a conversation discussion type place for me to practice or get ready?
I am conservative and am on top of politics, but that isn't a safe topic.

My son will be 3 years old in April and I wanted to know if there are any programs he can benefit.  I know there are many out there and that's part of the problem...which one to choose.  I've have a couple of friends talk about Head Start and a couple others talk about the YMCA.  Since they are both two separate programs, one for more education and the other more for athletic purposes, it's hard to choose, or are there some programs  somewhere in the middle?  If so, which ones and how "good" are they?

Also, are there some websites who rate this activities and how trust worthy are they?

I'm in Southern California, near Tustin.

Hello,
I purchased a second hand part of a camera from a chap in the US for $50 plus postage "usps.com ref: EG 99999999 US". I then receive a letter from Parcel Force in the UK telling me I have to pay a parcelforce clearance fee of £13.50 plus £8.85 VAT, the letter gives some telephone numbers for the HMRC but they do not work. (a recorded message states the line is no longer monitored) . How can parcel force hold me to ransom. I worte to the email supplied by parcelforce customers4parcelforce@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk only to get a reply the following day. (Please see the email added to the end of this post below.)

Is it legal that I have to pay tax £8.84 on second hand goods. Also why should I have to pay parcelforce clearance fee of £13.50. I had paid full postage from the US recorded delievery. Do you think Parcelforce and the post office is charging this as the post office will be put up for sale in the enar future and they want to take in as much money as possible. I have done a search over the internet using terms like "parcelforce are crap" and others like that only to be met with countless other persons ripped off like this with no chance of readress.

Is it legal that I have to pay tax on a used second hand item I bought from a private indivual in the US. Also is it legal for parcelforce to chage me a clearance fee even though full postage was paid already in the US. I really feel I am been robbed by the post office in the UK which is owned by the UK government.

the Quran-burning news was overshadowing 9/11 all over the world last week.

Is this is biggest sensational blackmail in the last 9 years related to this memorial day of the attacks? example: If i do not get this political deal, we will persecute a specific religion's people/entities etc.

has there been anything like this (political bargaining) in the past 9 years?

why i call it blackmailing is that he related his decision to back off with the plan to the idea to drop the building of the Ground Zero Mosque

thanks

First we had the climategate reports, which exposed the "science" behind the claims.  And now It appears there are more reports coming out today, further suggesting the whole thing is a complete scam.

http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/196642

THE world’s leading climate change body has been accused of losing credibility after a damning report into its research practices.

A high-level inquiry into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found there was “little evidence” for its claims about global warming.

The review by the InterAcademy Council (IAC) was launched after the IPCC’s hugely embarrassing 2007 benchmark climate change report, which contained exaggerated and false claims that Himalayan glaciers could melt by 2035.

The panel was forced to admit its key claim in support of global warming was lifted from a 1999 magazine article. The report was based on an interview with a little-known Indian scientist who has since said his views were “speculation” and not backed by research.

Is the idea of man made global warming a scam?

Greetings,

I am attempting to gather a list of various current legal and governmental requirements for IT departments... that is requirements that in some way involve computer technology. For example, software compliance and data protection.

I am primarily interested in such requirements applicable to Canada and the U.S., however, it will be interesting to view any official requirements in other countries.

So far, all I have found are the most well known requirements:

U.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_Insurance_Portability_and_Accountability_Act
U.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarbanes%E2%80%93Oxley_Act
U.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gramm%E2%80%93Leach%E2%80%93Bliley_Act
Canada: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Information_Protection_and_Electronic_Documents_Act

Can anyone add to the above list?

Thank you

How many people really believe something catastrophic is going to happen on the date of 12/21/2012?    Why would people be inclined to believe that one particular Mayan calendar cycle is indicative of a cataclysmic shift, when so many previous apocalyptic predictions based on other calendars failed to deliver.

even though grass is plenty in summer and free, most farmers tend not to take advantage of that?

wouldn't this bring dairy price down? (less feed to buy for the cattle)  .. why is this idea not prevalent?

Apparently the EPA includes a section on the average energy density of coal but I cannot find it; it doesn't help that their search engine is seriously outdated.

I was able to find the following sources:
http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2003/JuliyaFisher.shtml
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coal
...which state 24 Megajoules per kilogram.

However, I need to find a more official source. Where did this value come from? Who copied who? I am comfortable with the wiki entry, however, my company wants me to reference the EPA or any other 'trusted' source or authority.

Can any one provide me with either an EPA reference or another authoritative site?

when you learnt of the dead sea scrolls, what did it tell you (from the contents of the discovery)? what did you make of it?

if other such discoveries are made in this current century in Egypt/Israel/Iraq areas related to ancient scriptures, what would it mean to you?

kindly stick to the question only.

thanks

is there a reason why photos were banned from inside the arch?
