With the falling price of computer systems (e.g. Vostro), many computers now come with an inexpensive (or "free") LCD flat panel. Our office has a standard 17" LCD flat panel. Our "computer refresh policy" is about 2 - 3 replacements per month. I imagine some employees will complain if only replacement computers receive the larger screens, saying, "Why don't I have a large monitor?" or "When will I get the larger screen?"

I need a creative solution to this office politics problem. What have your companies done?

Today marks the sixth anniversary of the infamous 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

The media, as usual, are parading the event all day.  I watched for a while before concluding that regurgitated information is hardly news or meaningful insight.

Put aside all judgments, pretentions, and pretty remarks.  I'm not looking for a debate.  I want to hear about your observations regarding this event, on the effect it has had on you, your environment, your beliefs, your outlook.  I want to hear from everyone, regardless of your background, history, education, or religious center.  I want to hear what the biased media cannot give me.

This question will close in one week from today.

Please,

I will be grateful for the following information:

1) what language writes "Siz de bir görme engelliye, okuyabilecegi formatlarda, bir kitap armagan ediniz..."?

2) what site or software (better if free) offers good resource to translate a big text in this language into english?

Thank you very much,
rcesar

If that's text on the headgear, please translate.

If not, I'll just STFU.

I am building a small ad network, but the part that is getting me stuck is how to deal with the tax laws (such as the W9 forms and all that).  How do I go about handling this with my publishers and are there any official web pages detailing this for the United States?

Any benefit of painting OVER voc paint with voc-free paint?
Are paints used in modern houses safe?
My house has Monarch paint.
I'm thinking to paint over with oil based voc free paint.

I'm looking for some guidelines and tools that I can use to gauge our IT staffing needs and then convince the higher ups if we require more IT staff. I've looked on Google and EE a bit, but haven't found anything that tells me how to gauge our needs.

We currently have about 160 PCs and 40 printers spread across 5 sites connected via VPNs, and 9 servers at the main site with me being the only IT person.

How many IT staff do you have and how much equipment do they take care of?

Also anything that I can use from credible sources would be helpful. I may believe information posted here on EE from other users however others that need convincing may not give much credit to something posted on a forum they've never heard of.

Thanks

I have been trying to register a dot.com domain and i have now managed to find the person who own it and have negotiated a figure for this domain.  Can someone please tell me how the transfer process works.

The party in question has provided me with PayPal details but of course I dont want to send him the money without the security that he will allow transfer of the domain.... in simple terms he may stitch me up.

Further question once registration has taken place, how does future renewal take place?  Will this just be at the standard rate of my own hosting company?

I would be grateful for any advice.

Kind regards
emma

Hello,
What is the average commisson an agent receives in a recruitment agency when they get you an IT job. I have heard reports of agents receiving up to 25% of a persons salary for the first year. Does any one know for sure,... any link to a site that will give informative info for my question.

regards

Kenny

According to most scientists,  Global Warming is pushing temperatures up by small fractions of a degree every couple of decades
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Warming

Nuclear Winter could decrease temperatuires dramatically -- tens of degrees within a week or two.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_winter

So why worry about Global Warming?  Worst case scenario, all we'd need to do is find some unpopulated area of the earth (say Siberia, the Gobi Desert, or parts of Nevada) and spark up a few Hiroshima-sized nukes.   Poof, problem solved.

Discuss.
