A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. KB4524148 broke Windows print spooler!  This update was supposed to fix printing issues (Which this computer did not have).  Windows 10 v1809.

FYI, removing that update does fix the problem.  Suspended updates for 35 days also.  So printing works, but expecting more troubles to come with over 500 Windows computers to manage.

Ok, so I've installed a print server and I've installed printers on it.

What I want to be able to do now is to deploy a certain printer to a certain group of people. And I'm getting confused between using 'deploy printer' on the print server and the settings under GPO > user configuration> preferences > control panel settings > printers ...

I've got a 'Users: Printers' GP applied to my users OU. And when I deploy the printer to that OU then everyone in the OU will have the printer installed. And that works. BUT I only want a subset of those users to get this specific printer. That's why I've created a security group for this. But it seems like I can use that item-level targeting only with the 'user configuration' option in the GP!?

I've tried Step 4 in this article but the deployed printer is NOT visible under user configuration> preferences > control panel settings > printers so I can't configure the item-level targeting for it!? The deployed printer is only visible under user configuration > policies > Windows settings > deployed printers.

So what am I missing or misunderstanding!? Thanks!

When I open ANY office 365 application and goto file --- print,  I get the erro message.  I can close it and all is well, but the user said that every once in awhile he gets the issue of trying to change from the default printer to another printer and it won't let him.  Very odd.  Not sure if it has anything to do with the error message attached.  He says the problem with switching printers only occurrs every 10 prints or so.

I'm having serious problems to make my kiosk printer (Nippon Primex NP-VK30) work correctly under Ubuntu 19.04.
The manufacturer provides no support for Ubuntu, but I've found on Github a very simple library made in Python.
I attached the Python files to this topic.

I tried to launch "test.py" and my printer worked fine!

Since I need to print some text strings from my C/C++ application, I would like to translate the python code into C/C++ code so I can easily import it in my original application.

Unfortunately, I'm just a beginner and I never coded in Python.
Can you help me, please?

Thank you!

This is the code for test.py:

#!/usr/bin/python
from w2k203dpi import Printer

p = Printer()

p.println('test')

p.bold(True)
p.println('test')
p.bold(False)

p.underline(True)
p.println('test')
p.underline(False)

p.qrcode('test')

p.fullcut()

This is the code for the class file:

class Printer:

    def __init__(self):
        DEVPATH = '/dev/usb/lp0'
        self.f = open(DEVPATH, 'w')
        self.mode = 0x00

    def raw(self, data):
        for i in data:
           self.f.write(i)
        self.f.flush()

    def esc(self, data):
        self.raw('\x1b' + data)

    def font(self, value):
        if value:
            self.mode |= (1 << 0)
        else:
            self.mode &= ~(1 << 0)
        self.esc('!' + chr(self.mode))

    def bold(self, value):
        if value:
            self.mode |= (1 << 3)
        else:

Guys,
I have a client with a Ricoh MP C5503 that I am trying to set up with scan-to-email. Because the Ricoh only provides SSL encryption, I set up a free Juno email account dedicated to the printer.  So we are on the same page, here's where I put what:
Device Management > Configuration
Under 'Device Settings' section
Click: Email
-Administrator E-mail address: (email@juno.com)
-SMTP Server Name: smtp.juno.com
-SMTP Port Number: 465
-SMTP Authentication: On
  -SMTP Email Address: (email)@juno.com
  -SMTP User Name: (email)@juno.com
  -SMTP Password: (password)
  -SMTP Authentication: Auto-select

I also tried:
Under 'Device Settings' section
Click: Email
-Administrator E-mail address: (email@juno.com)
-SMTP Server Name: smtp.juno.com
-SMTP Port Number: 25
-SMTP Authentication: Off
  -SMTP Email Address: (email)@juno.com
  -SMTP User Name: (email)@juno.com
  -SMTP Password: (password)
  -SMTP Authentication: Auto-select

My client is using Google Fibre as their ISP. One of my tech friends who works a Ricoh service says the issue is Google Fibre blocks access to any DNS other than the local IP pointing to the Google Fibre Gateway. I confirmed this as I set up the Ricoh with:
DNS 1: 192.168.1.1 (the Google Fibre Gateway) - Test Successful
DNS 2: 8.8.8.8 - Test Unsuccessful
Or DNS 2: 1.1.1.1 (Cloud Flare) - Test Unsuccessful
Or DNS 2: 1.0.0.1 (Cloud Flare) - Test Unsuccessful
He says that if I can figure out what DNS server Google Fibre is …

I have a web-based application built for a shop intranet which has the requirement for users to be able to print to local printers installed on the web-server or network printers on the LAN (whichever is easier). The clients need to be able to produce receiving and shipping tickets from the app to the printers in those departments, so; server-side printing.

I have tried an number of approaches to this using PHP shell functions and incorporating printhtml.exe from http://www.printhtml.com/ but with no success.
Research online shows an old php_printer dll but it will not load as an extension in v5.4. I know this is possible, at least in theory, but I am stuck.
Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks.

This works fine with a CLT+P and I can paste in the file path.
I need to set Print to File as a default printer to capture a text version of the report.

Machine:
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition, 32-bit Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
All patches current.
Logged in as Administrator

Background:
1. Remote accessing a customer’s computer.
2. Business does print to a Thermal Receipt printer (Pizza Shop)
3. I need to see a report - for obvious reasons - I need to print to a .txt file.
  1. Need to print from the software – initiate the report and click on print.
  2. No prompt for file path destination.
  3. Print job gets stuck in print queue with error.
  4. No option to export this report.
  5. Printing to XML and PDF are a no go.

Problem:
Followed these instructions.
How to Print to File without user intervention
Yes, I noticed this - Applies to: Windows Server 2008 R2 EnterpriseWindows Server 2008 R2 Standard
Have ZERO’d out UAC.
When I’m attempting above instructions “C:\Users\pos\Desktop\printjob” gives me an “Can not Access Error” or something to that effect.

Any help?
Best,
Vincent.

I have a brother HL-L62000W.  When it prints, it crashes the computer.  This happened on Windows 7, then I tried it on a windows 10 machine with the same results.

I did some quick searching and one possibility is the USB port overloading but it is doing this on 2 different computers.

We have a Kyocera taskalfa copier/printer that takes a long time for the pages to come out for some of the jobs. I’m beginning to think it’s because of memory because we did not always have this problem. Does it sound like I should increase the memory?

Hello Everyone.  We are currently moving our customer away from an on prem Fax solution to a cloud based solution.   They have about 80 workstations and the old fax printer is installed on all of the users profiles.   I have removed the fax printers from the server mappings so they are no longer able to access them remotely.   Can someone provide me with a powershell script that I can deploy from our RMM tool that will delete just that one printer from the machines entirely without affecting any other printer?  Please let me know.   They have a mix of Windows 10 and Windows 7 Pro machines so I would need a power shell script for both platforms.

I found this link.   Can this be done with the same command for Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 Pro?

At a client's site, they have a Savin 402PF (Ricoh 402SPF) MFP.  Two of the PC's can scan from the scanner, two cannot.  I must be doing something stupid, but I can't seem to set up scanning from PC to the scanner on the two that are not yet set up fo it.  All pcs and the SAVIN are on the same domain, and all pc's ar Windows 10 Pro, fully patched.

I've installed the TWAIN and WIA drivers, and with them installed, when attempting to scan from the two that are not set up, the connection to the scanner fails.

Questions I have are:

- Can I copy the scan settings from one of the two PCs that can scan and apply them to the ones that current cannot?
- What am i missing?

Please don't assume I know anything about setting up scanning as I'm doubting everything I've known thus far now.

Thanks all.

Print server: Windows 2012R2
Printers in question: All -- specifically Ricoh multifunction devices
Clients: Mix of Win7 and Win`10 -- both exhibit behavior

When a client sends a print job to a network printer, the job goes into queue paused.  It sits there for about 2 minutes and the prints.

How can I make this not happen?

I have tried setting the printer setting to print directly to the printer and restarting the print spooler.  That did not make a difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Brother MFC-9330CDW printer that is having issues with seeing cartridges.  All the cartridges are new but when I close the lid I get messages like "replace the M cartridge", so I reseat the "M" cartridge, then it says replace the "Y" cartridge.  I reseat the "Y" cartridge and it says the "M" cartridge needs to be replaced again.   I have even changed out new cartridges and still receive same messages.   Any ideas?

I have a Konica Minolta Magicolor 2400w. I just closed a question I answered myself on EE. I found the solution on youtube. 37k people watched the video so that tells me I am not alone. Here is the video that solved this problem from the question I asked. My EE Question

Basically what I had to do is take a solenoid and place a small felt pad (seen in video 2) in a spot that allows a space between a contact.  It got rid of the errors from the previous question. Unfortunately now I have the following problem that was not there previously and shows no relation to the previous problem. I new mysterious problem.  See image attached.

Video 1 - Showing How to place the felt pad on a specific solenoid.
Video 2 - Showing how to access the unit and solenoids to check for contact ability.

So all I did was put the felt pad on the lower Solenoid seen in video the blue one not the yellow one from video 1. I get duplication or bleed through from the toner on page 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. Also noticed an obvious big line on the first page only. Makes NO sense to me. Since I fixed the original problem I had and now hove a new one. Does anyone have any thoughts on a solution or what to try...? Also paper weight is 20 lbs paper.
New print problem.

I have an older Konica Minolta Magicolor 2400W. It is lightly used. Probably less than 2k prints run through it. Mostly black and white some color photos and prints. It is connected to a Windows 7 Pro machine.

The issues:
1. Printer was working fine up until I ran out of toners and decided to go to a reputable refill company and refill them at home since each cartridges are 30-45 each times 5.
2. I was under the impression that my models cartridges do not have a chip that needs replacing. However that could be wrong. (apparently this model was transitioning away from the chip. My model and manufacture date was supposed to not have had chips on the cartridges? There are some contacts on the cartridge that look suspect. Not sure how to tell.?
3. I went to print a test page after uninstalling and properly reinstalling the driver and Win7Pro successfully installed suddenly the printer started to print the test page then goes to error. I opened a black and white pdf it printed one perfectly then three others were blank.
4. It seems if any of the print pages have color in them I get an error. Not the black and whites yet all do not get printed.
5.  Finally the pages that do print in B&W a margin gap at the top exists of roughly 1.5 to 2 inches.

Any tips on what I can do? No support from KM at all. Not even a paid for support I could pay for now. I need this printer to work as I have to print out a large training manual. Help me Obi One. You may be my only hope.

We have a label printing program that prints product labels and they are different depending on what country the product is shipping to.  Are there any solutions that would allow printing to a printer in a customers location?   If possible would like to avoid connecting our networks with a VPN.  Was wondering if there was any way to setup a printer connection over the internet.

Windows 10 printing.  Only 1 page will print then I have to power off the printer and power it back on.  When it turns on 1 page will print then the same issue over and over.  I've tried a new printer, updated printer drivers and keep having the same issue.

Hi Brother Printer HL-L2390DW can work well via wireless for any printing. but now i notice it cannot scan. It looks like the connection between PC and scan might not be setup because when i try to setup the scan function, i got message which tells "No PC Found". Since the printer can print, why it has this error message? Thank you

Printing an article from the web in Chrome, the last line of text on a page may get cut-off horizontally and the rest of the line shows up on the next page.

- Using a different printer from the same workstation makes no difference (same problem).
- Using Chrome on a different workstation: works fine (problem is gone).
- Using Firefox on the original workstation: works fine (problem is gone).

So if it was a system or printer driver setting, wouldn't Firefox exhibit the same issue?
But if it is a Chrome setting, which one? I couldn't find any difference between the two workstations.
Could anyone help?

My friend works for a company with 200 total employees, broken down as below
  **  main location
             ** 150 employees
             ** two Windows 2016 domain controllers
  **  10 remote locations
             ** 5 employees at each location
             ** running old Windows servers
                                   ** only used for very little FILE SHARING & PRINT SERVER
                                   ** NOT setup as "read-only" domain controllers

I want to replace above 10 old remote servers with a "WINDOWS" solution, but don't need a Windows Server 2016 STANDARD server with 16 cores

I know I will have to reconfirm with my Microsoft rep if I can legally do the below, but just wanted to see if anyone else has done the same

Questions
 1. Can I replace the above 10 old remote servers with a "WINDOWS 10 Pro" PC to do the very little FILE SHARING & PRINT SERVER functions for 5 users ?
 2. If so, what issues (besides the above legal issue I will as my Microsoft rep) might I have ?
        ** Example = if more then 2 concurrent users are accessing the "WINDOWS 10 Pro" file share at the same time, then the system gets bogged down

HP Color LaserJet MFP M2811fdn printer.

Networked.

Would like to find the print log in order to find out who is mistakenly printing to it.

Went to the printer web page.

There seems to be no log of where the print jobs are coming from.

Hi,

I was wondering if EEs can recommend a printer (I know there are many reviews on the web, but I thought "real experience" might be helpful). lol

This printer is actually for my boss. He is looking for a color one.  The other manager has this one  https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m452dn
 which is fine but the ink cartridge is so expensive.

Any ideas? thanks

Paperport 14.5 installed on new computer closes down completely when adding a folder from the file manager. No other problems, the program only fails when a folder is added or deleted from the folder manager.
