A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. Traditional printers are being used more for special purposes, like printing photographs or artwork, and are no longer a must-have peripheral; 3D printing has become an area of intense interest, allowing the creation of physical objects. An image scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.

Hi,

Just need a little bit of help here, surprise, surprise!

I am currently on a project with BYOD, none of the laptops are on our AD as they are owned by their parent company. Users are allocated an Office 365 email address. Users will also be given a smart card to retrieve prints or register on the printer.

Now my problem, as they are not on AD when they print from there machine how can the user retrieve their prints and only their prints when they visit the printer when the machine they are printing from is not registered? Is there a way capturing this as we will need it to monitor print jobs per user?

Thanks in Advance

John

I'm working on web based app that would be used in environment without power supply on laptop (Mac or Win) or tablet (Android or iOS). I want to be able to print receipt on thermal printer rechargeable which I could pair with mentioned device via Bluetooth. I need advice from knowledgeable person who has expertise on thermal printers. Receipts are going to be printed from Chrome browser. What is the best printer for that task. Any advice welcome.

Already have done some research but no luck.
This tiny printer would be ideal but prints only from Android app and as far as I know I will have to write print software for it. Not good as my app is web based.

HP Envy 4520, new ink cartridges that work (already tested)
Windows 10 Home
Current drivers from HP's website
Computer + Router (AT&T) = wired connection
WIFI signal excellent (according to the printer)
Printer is plugged into another wall outlet and sits less than 10 feet from the router.

This particular printer model has problems. It, however, previously worked with a different router (Time Warner) and with Windows 7.

HP's Doctor program does not work; the Troubleshooter program for Windows 10 also does not work. Device Manager says that all drivers are up to date. No viruses (PC gets scanned daily).

.

Printer behavior:
User1 - pc/router/printer gets turned on; print job spools then prints successfully; printer goes into sleep mode; router forgets the printer is connected and a second print job cannot print (btw, the touch panel on the printer shows it is connected to the home wifi network)

User2 - print job spools then fails; HP printer program spits out an error to Fix or Cancel (fixing does nothing, still can't print)

I tried creating a guest user account and the print job also fails to spool.

Both User1 and User2 are setup as local admins on the machine; but when you look at the User settings in Windows 10, they are setup as 'standard' and the ability to set them as 'administrator' is grayed out.

I also tried printing through the hidden super admin account via command prompt as admin (net user administrator /active;yes), and the print job …

Hi,

I plan to mount a ESXi lab at home and I'm looking for an easy good switch with a minimum of configuration available (tag, create vlan, etc.). I will also use the same switch for my personal usage (laptop, media, printer).

This is what it looks like:

- 2 ESXi hosts lab
- 1 NAS
- 2 MAC use by family
- 1 printer
- 1 pc

So a minimum of 8 ports or more. I need to be able to create different vlan and tag it. I'm not network expert that why I'm look for something easy for a IT guy.

Hello Experts,
Our customer is a dentist whose x-ray machine does not provide a connection to deliver the x-ray image digitally.
probably he will buy soon but until then its important we can scan his small 2 cm x 2 cm x-ray images.

The fact is that when we look at the x-ray image against light the details are clear...but
When scanned using a normal hp scanner flatbed it appears really dark
Even playing with some parameters of brightness and contrast  with the scanner the result is not useful.
The image changes but details do not appear.

Is there .net visual basic or c# source / procedure that will let us clarify the image ?
Or is it the device itself that is not capturing enough detail... because the detail is there in the original xray

I'm adding a new printer to our network. I have a handful of HP laser printers connected via network connection that all work fine. The latest printer we are trying to add is HP Color LaserJet 750ndw. I can not get anything to print to it. I can ping the printer. I check the /etc/bootptab setting and looks just like the rest of our printers. I've verified the MAC address and IP address for typo's. I've copied the laser interface files to match existing printer that do work. The print jobs just sit in the queue. If I connect to an external HP Jetdirect via USB cable it prints fine. I would rather not have to use extra equipment if I don't have too. Any suggestion would be helpful.

Hello all,
I don't work with iPads very much so if this is fundamental I am sorry.
I have a client that has and iPad and the pictures that are taken on it we used to be able to print a thumbnail to the printer and it would be a picture of 2x3 which was perfect.
This printer is only used with this iPad.
When we try to print a thumbnail printout it now prints on a full 8 1/2x11 sheet of paper.
There are no options to do anything else (the app is My Pics).
How can I fix this or is there another app that will print out in thumbnail size and not a full sheet of paper?
Thanks,
Kelly W.

I know nothing about the problems or costs associated with laser color printers.  This is a printer for our home.

Is xerox a better brand?

If laser, color, wireless, scan to email, and under $500 are our primary criteria, which one of these should we get?

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hp+color+printer+laser+email&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ahp+color+printer+laser+email

We also have some tshirt iron on paper that we purchased from Avery #8938 that we would like to be able to use in it if possible, but not required.

I have a piece of software that was written using C++.  I am printing invoices to a HP1320 laser printer and need to change the print to condensed print for a couple of words and then back to regular print.  Following is a sample invoice.  The items under the label Description need to be in condensed print (or smaller font) and the rest of the invoice as it appears.  Are there any esc sequences or something like that used in matrix printers to handle this?

When we select printer properties or printer preferences on the server the app crashes, "Function Discovery Print Provider SLL has stopped working"
application failuse rundll32.exe_fdprint.dll
Fault Module harmony10.dll
I have removed the printer, reinstalled the drivers same issue.
Users can print, but cannot change properties like 2 sided or orientation.

Hello We have a multi function printer, that we installed on a printer server.
the printer requires ID and password to be in the printer and matching ID and password be in the client machine, in the security tab in printer preferences.

in order for users to install the printer off the print server and print.
should we create an ID for the print server and put it in the security tab of that printer.
or leave it empty, and and put for each user his ID and password on his printer?
printer is Ricoh MP C3000

I would also like to designate the respective default printer as well but allow them to change it if they wish .
Everything i find online is too confusing .
The printers are already shared i do not need to install them from scratch only have the ones near them installed on the desktops .

Hello

I have a hard time with a terminal server 2012R2.
All users connecting to this terminal server are using a software that requires the use of the default printer.
The problem is the default printer changes by itself without any apparent reasons!
It doesn’t change at the user logon.  The user is logged on, the default printer is the right one, but as the day goes on, suddenly, without any reasons, POOF!, the default printer changed  to another printer.
The user did not logged off/on.
I don’t see a way to detect WHY the default printer changes magically.
Is there a way to troubleshoot that?

We have an office Samsung CLP 620ND Laser Network Printer, it has very light usage, and still after purchasing from new, has not even completed 1,000 pages yet, despite the toners having 2,500 capacity.

It really does seem a shame to bin and skip this printer, BUT it was only purchased cheaply, if memory serves me correct £300 with £80 cash back. (inc VAT), so even cheaper to the business. It was always envisaged, it would probably be cheaper to purchase a new unit, than replace all four toners.

so this is the printer

http://www.printerland.co.uk/Samsung-CLP-620ND-P109277.aspx

and this is it's replacement

http://www.printerland.co.uk/Samsung-CLP-680ND-P123372.aspx

£133 ex VAT, with 3 year warranty.

BUT, before we go out and invest in a new unit..

no-one has come across the issue...

1. Power on .Samsung CLP 620ND Laser Network Printer from cold.

2. This is what is observed on display

3.  System Initialisation > Warming Up > Ready - takes approx 20 seconds.

4. 10 seconds later, it's restarted again, and stating System Initialisation > Warming Up > Ready

5. Goto 2, it's in a loop.

If it takes me 5 minutes, including writing this EE Question, for a fix, we will keep it, otherwise at £133 for a new unit...

Not worth my effort! Just curious, of anyone has seen this fault, and it was..... press a button to fix...

I have an old printer for which Windows 10 (and possibly even Windows 7) no longer has drivers. But the printer is still in good condition. I'd like to be able to continue using it, if possible. My thought was that maybe I could use a Linux-based CUPS server, and print through it, using Samba. But I'm not actually sure that makes much of a difference. Don't I still need to have printer drivers on my local PC to print through it? Or is there some way to mask it and let the print server actually handle the printer functions?
