A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. Traditional printers are being used more for special purposes, like printing photographs or artwork, and are no longer a must-have peripheral; 3D printing has become an area of intense interest, allowing the creation of physical objects. An image scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.

Hi Brother Printer HL-L2390DW can work well via wireless for any printing. but now i notice it cannot scan. It looks like the connection between PC and scan might not be setup because when i try to setup the scan function, i got message which tells "No PC Found". Since the printer can print, why it has this error message? Thank you

Printing an article from the web in Chrome, the last line of text on a page may get cut-off horizontally and the rest of the line shows up on the next page.

- Using a different printer from the same workstation makes no difference (same problem).
- Using Chrome on a different workstation: works fine (problem is gone).
- Using Firefox on the original workstation: works fine (problem is gone).

So if it was a system or printer driver setting, wouldn't Firefox exhibit the same issue?
But if it is a Chrome setting, which one? I couldn't find any difference between the two workstations.
Could anyone help?

My friend works for a company with 200 total employees, broken down as below
  **  main location
             ** 150 employees
** two Windows 2016 domain controllers
  **  10 remote locations
** 5 employees at each location
             ** running old Windows servers
** only used for very little FILE SHARING & PRINT SERVER
** NOT setup as "read-only" domain controllers

I want to replace above 10 old remote servers with a "WINDOWS" solution, but don't need a Windows Server 2016 STANDARD server with 16 cores

I know I will have to reconfirm with my Microsoft rep if I can legally do the below, but just wanted to see if anyone else has done the same

Questions
 1. Can I replace the above 10 old remote servers with a "WINDOWS 10 Pro" PC to do the very little FILE SHARING & PRINT SERVER functions for 5 users ?
 2. If so, what issues (besides the above legal issue I will as my Microsoft rep) might I have ?
** Example = if more then 2 concurrent users are accessing the "WINDOWS 10 Pro" file share at the same time, then the system gets bogged down

HP Color LaserJet MFP M2811fdn printer.

Networked.

Would like to find the print log in order to find out who is mistakenly printing to it.

Went to the printer web page.

There seems to be no log of where the print jobs are coming from.

Hi,

I was wondering if EEs can recommend a printer (I know there are many reviews on the web, but I thought "real experience" might be helpful). lol

This printer is actually for my boss. He is looking for a color one.  The other manager has this one  https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m452dn
which is fine but the ink cartridge is so expensive.

Any ideas? thanks

Paperport 14.5 installed on new computer closes down completely when adding a folder from the file manager. No other problems, the program only fails when a folder is added or deleted from the folder manager.

I am having issues with the most current build of windows 10 1903 when I try to print.  The issue occurs in every web browser, as well as Microsoft office.  In a browser (IE11, Chrome, edge), when you try and call the print dialogue box, the app freezes and the box takes a couple minutes to pop up.  The same thing happened when I tried printing a test page from Word 365.  The app crashed and after waiting a couple minutes, it eventually printed.  All of the computers I am experiencing issues with are almost brand new and completely updated.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the print drivers (completely removing and reinstalling).  The printer is a HP LaserJet M404.   The PCs vary but all have Windows 10 Professional 1903 installed.

I had a question come up about clearing printer memory cache. Is this something other Network Administrators are performing routinely and how is this done?

Outlook 2007, When printing an embedded image in an email (not a attachment), it looks good on the screen, does not print the embedded image on a single page. It's as if it blows the image up so it doesn't fit on a single page.

Hi, I am connecting to a Server 2012 R2 via remote app. When I connect the local printers are installed and redirected as expected. The printers are pretty standard and the drivers are included with Server 2012. Everything looks right about the printers from the remoteapp, I can see properties and change settings. But when I go to print, it shows that it is sending the job to the printer, but nothing ever comes out and no errors are generated.  I can send test pages, text files and PDFs and they print.  All printers are shared from another 2012 R2 server that is set for File and Print functions.  This was working fine and then stopped late Friday.   All printers are newer model HP laserjet printers connected via TCPIP.  I checked the .RDP file and redirected printers are allowed.

I do not know how to check for the EasyPrint driver.

When I watch the printer queue on the print server I can see the job process when I PDF,text files, or test pages are sent.  When I try form any office app or Great Plains, I do not see any job appear.

Any advice would be appreciated.

My client wants an all-in-one color laser printer for his home office. Running Windows 10 on a Dell Optiplex desktop computer. Up to $400.  Maybe a bit more if one stands way above the rest. No need for fancy functions.  He needs ease of use and reliability. Has to sit on his desk at home.

I started to research on my own. I’ve been at this a long time. I got my first Internet id in 1988 while working at IBM. I’ve come to the conclusion that for something like this printer Internet searches have become useless. One can go to a dozen sites, each offering recommendations, and see no overlap.  One can cross reference their recommendations at Amazon, comparing customer reviews, and come to no conclusion which printer to buy.

I have two additional questions.
1. Have you come to the same conclusions, that on many topics Internet research is now useless?
2. If not, how do you search for products and assess their value?

Thanks,
Al

Have an HP Color LaserJet CP4025.

Believe the NIC card is bad but have not proven it to my complete satisfaction.

As I am nervous Ned, I want to be sure before the boss brings in the Printer Guy at $150 an hour and proves me the fool.

Printer lost connectivity to the switch.

Checked all the patch cables from the printer, through the wall, to the switch.

All good.

Checked the config on the switch.

All good.

Used other ports on the switch.

All good.

Still no connectivity.

Tried to connect an RJ45 cable from a computer NIC to the printer NIC.

The printer does not show any default 169 do IP address.

The JetDirect menu choice from the printer display is missing meaning I cannot set DHCP.

Did a factory reset.

Did a cold reset.

No go.

Should I grab a laptop and a serial cable and give it a go, or has Nervious Ned done everything he can do to prove the NIC is bad?

Printing or previewing a microsoft access report locks up on a Windows 10 computer when the report's subreport data spans multiple pages.  It prints fine from Windows 7 computers.  I don't think the problem is specific to the printer driver because I've tried printing to a pdf and the same problem happens and only when the subreport's data spans multiple pages and only on Windows 10 computers  (again, Windows 7 computer print fine).    Is there some default setting in Windows 10 that is different than the default setting in Windows 7 that affects how reports are printed that could be causing this problem?  If I'm printing to a pdf, there is no choice but to use client side rendering, correct?  What can I do to fix this problem?

I have a canon mx490 that I'm trying to connect wirelessly to an Asus RT-AC68U.
I've tried connecting via WPS - press and hold the button the router for 5 seconds - nothing.
I've tried providing a client (printer) PIN code to the router UI - nothing.
I've tried connecting to my primary 2.4ghz wireless connection - fails to connect.
The only other one that I can see from the printer is my guest network, which doesn't have intranet access.  I can connect to that one fine, however if I set it to allow intranet access, it drops off! :(

Both networks are setup AES with a WPA2-Personal-Auto configuration.

Have a hp color laserjet cp4025 that keeps defaulting to tray 1 which is the hand fee tray on the side. Would like it to default to the main tray where the paper sits.

The settings on the printer do not stick when you choose tray 2.

The settings on the printer web page are all set to tray 2 with no affect/effect.

Did a cold reset of the printer.

No change.

Unable to scan to a printer, via Devices and Printers ( in Control Panel) on a laptop with Windows 10 installed.
Note, I am able to print to the printer, but cannot printer to the printer via the HP software.
I do not recall the model of the printer, but the software that came with the printer, is installed.  A document could not be scanned even with the HP software.
The printer is a Wi-Fi enabled.
Things not tried:
1. Update the drivers using Dell Command Update
2. Execute  SFC /scannow
3. Execute the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth with admin rights.
4. Run Windows 10 updates
5. Look on the HP's knowledge base for a similar problem.
6. Put a paper in the printer and press the scan button ( I am not sure if the printer has a scan button).

Any ideas?

Hi everyone,

I've been given an assignment by a client who would like to have a network printer assigned as the default printer for every user who logs into a workstation.  Unfortunately, domain Group Policy is not available so I've begun looking into using a Powershell script or an update to the Registry.

I've created the following Powershell script which I've confirmed works under my account -

$PrinterName="Fax"
$DefaultPrinter = Get-WmiObject Win32_Printer -filter "Name='$PrinterName'"
$DefaultPrinter.SetDefaultPrinter()

I was considering using Task Scheduler but wasn't 100% sure that would be as effective, especially since what's key is selecting the default printer for all the users.

I'm open to any suggestions and feel free to go a completely different route in terms of a viable solution.

Thanks.

Hello,

I'm a tech writer who's temporarily w/o a printer (until it can be fixed or replaced). Normally, I rely on printing out the article I'm working on when I'm ready to do final edits, etc. It's been a reasonably effective tool for me.

Until my printer is back online, can anyone suggest a "second-best" alternative?  These docs are web pages, on a wiki. I suppose I could copy into Word (so the doc looks different), but in this platform (Zendesk), there's at least one problem: the images don't come over.

Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

I need to be able to print off worksheets from my web pages, but i dont want the page titles and urls to be printed at top and bottom of the page, is there a way to stop this information being printed

the site is built in ASP classic,  will  use jquery/javascript to accomplish this if that is the way to go

Alternatively can you send options to the print preview screen to remove these from the page instead of having to change them in the print preview screen
