A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. Traditional printers are being used more for special purposes, like printing photographs or artwork, and are no longer a must-have peripheral; 3D printing has become an area of intense interest, allowing the creation of physical objects. An image scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.

Set up a Color printer to print in Black and White

I have Color printers that I want to set up to print as Black and white by default.

I am testing this operation on a printer: HP Color LaserJet CP4520 Series

In Color tab, I have deselected "HP EasyColor" checkbox and selected "Print in Grayscale" checkbox.

However the printer is still printing in Color.

Any Help on this issue?

Thank you

we have a sharpe mx-2310u mfp which was working fine.

everyone can print perfectly, but we have developed a problem scanning to a shared folder on our server.

when we used to go to the device we were asked for a pin number, but now we dont get this. it goes straight to the address book. when we select a user, we then get a screen that asks for a user name and password.

we enter the credentials and we are then presented with the option to copy, image send or document filing.

we are then presented with the address book again.

once selecting the required user, we can then press the scan button.

when we proceed the page is taken into the scanner, scanned and the display advises the job is stored, then we get an error message :-

Account name or authentication password is invalid. consult your network administrator.

we have tried reseting passwords on one account, without any luck.

i can navigate to the shared folder and create documents etc.

we are so frustrated as things were working fine, now all users cannot scan.

can anyone assist in getting to the bottom of this problem?

does anyone know which account name / passwords the error refers to?

any advice very much appreciated.

thanks

We just bought a new HP452DN color printer and the display is blank, the light lights up, but nothing displayed.  The firmware has been upgraded, but still does not work.
It's  past the return date, so I can't return it, but does anyone have any suggestions of what I can try to fix?

Should I look in replacing the board, or the LCD?

I’m deploying a few network printer in small environment. I have a firewall and a couple switches and a Windows DHCP/DNS server. Is it best to create a new IP range for printers and would that translate to creating a new subnet? Also I heard it’s better for DHCP reservation than to do static IP for printers. Any advice/teaching suggestions here appreciated.

When deploying printers via GPO under the context of "computer" the printer appears to be installed if you try and print a document, but if you look at devices and printers it is still showing as "device setup in progress"

The drivers are package aware, and printing works when printing to the new printer. In the screenshot below you'll notice 2 unspecified devices, both of them are the 2 new printers i've deployed.

Printers
If you go to the printers themselves which are Canon printers, you can see the canon driver has loaded correctly.

If I try and right click on the unspecified devices to trouble shoot the issue, there is no right click menu.

When deploying printers via GPO, what are the major differences between deploying via policy vs deploying via user preferences? Is there any major advantage of one over the other.

Printers GPO, Preferences vs Policy
In this example this is a flat network, no requirement for item level targeting.

I would however like to be able to update the printer drivers if needed in the future, so how can this be achieved?

I am having a small issue with a report that I want to generate.  It will always be one page and the page size is 5.5 inches by 4.25 inches on card stock.  For some reason when I print the report it sends more than one page, since I am using the manual feed that can handle the card stock.  I have attached screenshots of the report in design view and in print preview.  The print preview shows a dialog box so that the procedure is forced to pause so that I can then see the preview.  When I click OK the printer dialog comes up and I can choose the proper printer to print the card.

The way it works is on the main date entry form I have a button "Print Song Cards" which is only enabled when a Piano Roll is displayed.  If a CD is displayed the button is disabled.  When I click the button a dialog is displayed telling me to load the card stock in the printer.  When I click "OK" the print preview is displayed (see attached Print Preview file)  I select the printer and the card prints but it seems to be trying to print more than one page because after the song card prints the printer keeps asking for another page to be inserted.

In design view I have the page size set to 5.5 x 4.25 so that should not be the issue.  I suspect it has something to do with the way I put the report together.  Any ideas?

Client has an HP LaserJet 400 that is an EcoSMART model. It will go to sleep/Auto off after 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes. We have it the 1 hour setting and it is supposed to Wake on These Events:
USB Job
Lan Job
Control Panel
But it does not.
Is there any way of turning off this feature?
This printer is used to print out pick lists from IFS and the way the system is configured, if the printer is sleeping, the job is dropped. Once it is dropped, it cannot be recreated. We did not have this problem several months ago. Could there have been a firmware or driver update that caused this to happen?

Main issue is to get it back to where it won't sleep and will stay on all the time.

Is there a way to change the paper size printing for for POS which is already in Ms Access run-time , as at now I find difficult to manually go back to Ms Access developmental mode and change the paper size manually save before compiling the software in Ms access run-time. This method is not good because the paper size will always keep on changing , can you imagine each time the users change the paper size again you have to recall back the software and do the changes manually?.

Kindly assist

Regards

Chris

User has a Canon Inkjet with AirPrint enabled.  They have an iPhone.
When they print to the Canon from the iPhone, whatever they are printing is resized to fill the entire 8.5 x 11 paper.

Is there a way to have the iPhone print without it resizing?

Thanks.

I have a server running Windows server 2008R2.

When I run mstsc /admin I get connected. All printers redirected as stated in options and all running like a charm.

Now, when I save the session, with all options the same, and auto login, it seems another user is created.

I have another background, other shortcuts, no prob at all.

But, when I print to a redirected printer, the job appears in the queue and dissapears like it has been printed. Nothing really prints.

Only when I  work from a saved RDP session things won't work. When I manual make a RDP session manually, all seems ok.

Also, when in a saved RDP session, Windows saves every setting like default printer. Mannually it prints but doesn't save settings.

What's happening?  How can I make it print from within a saved RDP?

I tried with another user home, my printer redirects but won't print when I use a saved setting. It prints when I connect manually.

Aloha,

I have a Win7 vm with 31 printers defined. I am replacing the vm with a Win10 one. Is there a way to transfer the definitions
or will this be a soul crushing manual process?

Say the Samsung M2070 enters a power saving mode and when a print job is sent to it it needs to be first "woken up" by pushing the "Power button or similar". ECO mode seems to be off but not sure. PC is running Windows 7.

How do we get it not to need being "woken up" before printing? A USB cable connects it to the PC. Tx SW

At work we have this HP LaserJet 400 M401n that cannot print png files. we try and it says "your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem. 0x80004005." We can print a test page and a Word document. I think it can print anything else except for images.
This printer is using a certain "universal" print driver. It's our policy to use this driver because we usually have problems if we use other drivers, so I'm inclined to believe that its not a driver issue, even though at first glance it may sound like a driver problem (maybe it still is a driver problem, i dunno).

Hi,

I am looking to find ID card application such as Asure ID 7 exchange and cardPresso. I need to find application that can handle large internal database. I do know that both mentioned application can connect to external database but I do not want to connect to external database. Also, I need the application to work on LAN and WAN. Also, I am looking to have permission for users. I need some users to have ability to enter the data only, other users to audit and edit these data if necessary, other user to print, and finally admin  that can do everything. I am looking to application that can handle 500000 records.

Any suggestion will be appreciated

Say, an HP laser printer, Product number CB537A is getting repeated paper jams. There is a rubber like substance, maroon in colour, that is falling out of the top part of the printer. This is most likely the problem. It seems to be part of a roller. It is behind a section that says CAUTION MAY BE HOT.
Kindly advise if this can be easily repaired and what the replacement part. most likely would be.

i have a windows 7 pc that the print spooler keeps stopping

i did this and same results

Print spooler keeps stopping on Windows 7
Step 1) Start > Start Search > services.msc

Step 2) If the spooler is not on, turn it on. If after it is turned on, it turns off automatically, proceed to step 3, if can turn it on go to step 5
Step 3) Start > Start Search > C:WindowsSystem32spoolsv.exe (Right click > Properties)
Step 4) Click on Security Tab > Advanced > Owner. Take ownership of the file and give full permission to the file. Once done, close everything and try to start the service again.
Step 5) Start > Start Search > cmd (Run as Admin)
Step 6) del /Q C:WINDOWSsystem32spoolPRINTERS*.* > Press Enter
Step 7) Once done, try to start the spooler in Services

does anyone know of a fix ?

My PC upgraded Win 10 to 1809 a couple days ago and now I can't print anymore.  My Printer is still listed and marked as fine, but any print job from any application errs.  The Printer status simply states "Error - Printing".  Rebooting does nothing.  I tried to find something in the Event Log, but haven't managed to locate anything relative to printing? There is nothing indicating any error on the printer itself, the red light doesn't engage and it remain in a ready state, the issue seems to entirely lie with Windows 10.

I tried using the instruction from https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4015397/windows-10-fix-printer-problems-after-updating-upgrading, but sadly there instructions do not match up with the options I have.  There is no Devices and Printers listed under Related Settings, and no Unspecified section anywhere.

My printer is a brother HL-2270DW and was working just fine up until the 13th!

Has anyone seen this issue before, have a solution.
