A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. Traditional printers are being used more for special purposes, like printing photographs or artwork, and are no longer a must-have peripheral; 3D printing has become an area of intense interest, allowing the creation of physical objects. An image scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.

I got this error since 3/4/2020 on Server 2016

How do I disable or skip Windows Updates for this driver?  I don't get any updates from Windows if this update failed.  The printer is working without any issue.  I already downloaded the latest driver from HP and installed manually.

HP - Printers - HP LaserJet Pro M402-M403 n-dn PCL 6 - Error 0x80070490

From Event Viewer:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070490: HP - Printers - HP LaserJet Pro M402-M403 n-dn PCL 6.

OK so I wanted to prevent some users from access certain IP address on my network (NAS, printers etc)

The network is 192.168.1.X.  The NAS is 192.168.1.100

So I setup a rule for 192.168.1.102 to never allow access on any port to WAN 192.168.1.100.

However 192.162.1.102 is still able to access the NAS on 192.168.1.100.

Am I missing something?  I thought I had understood this.

Out of the blue my computer started printing out emails, and things from websites  and attachments (attachment-print out fine if I save them to a separate file, but not if I open the attachments directly from the email.  Windows 10 is my OS,   I have checked the printers' settings: which I have not changed.  I have a Canon 1550, and a Okidata C3400N.  Properties are still the same. I think it must be some setting in my computer.  I have rebooted the computer several times as well as the printers.   Any suggestions.
Thanks.

I am trying to add HP Laserjet P2055d to my Windows 10 computer using the the USB port.

When I plug USB cable into the computer, Windows 10 displays a message "we're setting up HP Laserjet P2055d".

After a few minutes, I open Devices and Printers, and see the HP Laserjet P2055d in the printer list, with the words "Driver not available".

The USB port is the only port on the printer.

Is there a way I can add the printer to my Windows 10 computer?

Suppose you were a home user with a VMWare Horizon client for accessing your work virtual desktop. You have an HP printer scanner and you want to print via a print server at the data center. If you setup a port at the work firewall - would it be possible to configure a printer to register with the file server with authentication? The net result being that the home user logins into their VDI and prints to their home printer via the print server in the data center.

Is that possible and done all the time? I have small offices with lan to lan VPN and that's easy to just enter the IP of the destination printer.

Hello due to CoronaVirus everyone is working from home. The way people connect is that they connect to an RDP server over the web and then jump to their PC in the office. This all works fine but now people are asking to print locally.

We have enabled printing through RDP but i am getting issues when trying to setup printers. In the old days we used to have to install the drivers on the work PC so that it worked I am not sure if this is still the case but it seems to help. Big issue with that is every driver you download these days comes as a wizard and the Work PC can't detect the printer at home.

However, if I do manage to get a printer installed and it gets dragged through RDP it still doesn't work.

On the local laptop the user can print fine. In the RDP the printer appears in the list but when you go to print it defaults to "Print to FILE"

Anyone know what is going on?

Thanks,

Glenn

Hi Folks,

When printing an EE article, code snippets are jumbled up...they look like this:

print-bad
Gustav Brock submitted a bug report on this more than two years ago:
Code blocks of article print view are unreadable

The EE Mod at the time, Modalot, said this:
Ouch. That renders the printout almost useless. I've filed this internally as a major bug.
Not being aware of Gustav's bug report, I submitted one about two months ago:
Print feature at articles does not format code snippets properly

In response to my bug report, the same Mod (Modalot) informed me that it is an old bug and is "still unresolved". Being more than 2-1/4 years old and filed as a "major bug" by a Mod who has been an EE member for more than 10 years, it seems to me that EE is either incapable of, or not interested in, fixing the bug. As a result, I'm looking to the experts here for a workaround. I want to use the workaround to "print-to-PDF" my 63 EE articles and the Steps at my 47 EE video Micro Tutorials. Although that's 110 publications, only some of them have code snippets, so while I would prefer as automated a solution as possible, having to do some manual effort on each one is fine. I'm also fine with a solution that requires other products, such as Microsoft Word, or other commercial software. Thanks for your ideas! Regards, Joe

I am unable to print to any printer after Windows update. I came into work today and noticed a W10 update kick in over the night. I noticed as soon as I went to print I received an error message. I then noticed I was unable to print to any printer. The error message was always the same "Unable to create print job". I rebooted, restarted the print spooler but nothing help. Any suggestions on how to to be able to print again?.

I have a Brother HL-L2320D BW printer.  I am printing a lot of sheets of paper and when the machine starts printing in the beginning, it goes fast.  In fact it is spec'd to go up to 30 ppm.  However after a while it begins to lag and then I see it moving at about 14 ppm.  What can I do to keep it running at maximum speed?

Hi Expert

We are using remote desktop to connect from a Windows PC 7 to another Windows PC 7 or 10 in a site-to-site VPN.

We want the remote PC can make print to a local PC. However, it is interesting only some printer can show in remote PC (with redirect wording), e.g. Xerox photocopier. For the one we need, it cannot show . The printer model is Canon MF635cx.

I have tried to share it, show in directory... but no luck.

Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot

A customer of mine was running windows 7 and using a UPS Thermal 2844 printer to print out ups shipping labels.  They upgraded their computer to windows 10 and after that the thermal printer goes through the motions of printing but nothing shows up on the paper.  They Deleted the printer driver and re-installed with the latest update but that didn't help.  What do we need to do to get it to print?

Hi All,

Does anyone have any documentation or can possibly walk me through setting up the model for faxing on a Ricoh C3004 printer?  I am being tasked with this later today and have not been exposed to this.   Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I do not know if this feature uses data through ethernet or requires an RJ9 cable for phone.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I am using a windows 10 workstation that is in a domain. I have a label printer connected to this workstation with a serial connection. Recently I start having a problem with the jobs not printing. I can see the Job in the print queue I see the status light blinking then the job disappears from the queue.
So far, I tried:
•      Connect the printer to another system: works fine.
•      Uninstall and reinstall printer:  No luck
•      Tried another printer on this workstation: No Luck

I’m pretty sure the issue is connected to the workstation.

I check the event logs and this one stood out to me and I am wondering if it could be connected to the print issue because I am using a COM port. Any thoughts?

Dear Experts.

My client uses HP Laserjet 4250 with his accounting software, which requires DOT4 USB driver.  I have been able to install this printer and print from other programs, however, I need to be able to add addtional driver for the accounting software to print.
I was able to do this once by downloading DOT4x64 USB universal driver from HP, and get it going.  However, I had to re-image the PC because of malware, and now the same file, Dot4x64.msi will not run.  I tried to run it on my PC, and it runs fine.  I disabled McAfee, and still cannot run.
My PC and his PC are both Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit machines.  Is there a way to force a driver without running Dot4x64.msi?  I do see the USB designated for Laserjet 4250 in the device manager, but cannot update the driver.

Please help.

All of a sudden computers with windows 10 pro in the network are having all kinds of issues printing to our 4 Savin copiers.  I have tested out 2 old win 7 pro machines and everything is fine.  I assume it is a driver issue that needs to be updated.  Here is the question:  These printers were added to computers by ip address and then browsing for the correct driver on a network shared folder.  If I do find the right driver do I need to update all the machines indivudually or is there a way to do that on the Savin printer/copier side and then all of the computers will use the correct driver?

I've researched heaps for this on line and although have found people who have had the same issue and have solved it with various suggestions nothing is working for me. I'm setting up a domain environment for a small company and we just started adding a few users when we came across this issue so its good that we are not impacting large numbers of users. I had 3 printers shared on my File server. I had group policy objects to map the printers based on the level they worked on in the company. I first noticed an issue when I joined the first user to the domain on the ground floor. I expected only one printer to be mapped however noticed 4, a duplicate of level 2 existed. Strange. I then looked further into it and found suggestions of windows 10 auto mapping. I switched off network discovery, in sharing centre, changed some settings in group policy but every time I delete the printers, they reappear as soon as you log back on. I removed the group policy mappings altogether, still there. I even deleted the printers on the print server! still they reappear. Pulling my hair out here!.

Any thoughts appreciated

We changed our internet provider and I had to reinstall the printer m375 MFP.   I did a full install on the server and twice on one of the computers.   The printer and scanner install with no errors, but the scanner cannot communicate.   The error states it cannot communicate.  It states to change the IP address if the printer was reinstalled.
The IP address for the new printer is correct and the printer prints correctly

Quick issue.

Currently one of my clients has a printer in the CEO's office that everyone has the ability to print to.   The printer is not shared on the network so I am unsure how the printers are being added to the workstations, perhaps some clever people here that know how to manually map to it.

What is the best practice to only allow 2 people to access the printer?

What I did was share the printer on the network, and removed everyone from the security tab under printer properties.   I then just added the 2 users that need it since they are on the domain.  My only worry is 1 user is a mac user and will the policy reach her mac machine allowing her to print?  I guess I need to test it out from another machine to ensure noone else can.   But I wanted thoughts if what I did was not 100% and perhaps there is a better recommendation.
