Hi Experts..

A quick question about WMI filters...  I have a software application that is applied via a user group policy but has a different msi package for XP and below machines and Vista+ machines.

I have created two GPO's and applied it to the user OU for which I want it to be installed.

My question is if I set a WMI filter say (to show vista machines and above):

Select Version, ProductType from Win32_OperatingSystem Where Version like "6.%" and ProductType = "1"

And apply this to the GPO does the WMI filter stay active, thus only applying the GPO to Windows Vista+ machines and to the users to which the GPO is applied?

Many thanks

I have never used one...
I am handling a big project that needs some follow up...so I guess I would need a software to do so...
Anything free and easy ?
I am okay with starting with something small... not hundreds of features...then move on slowly...to something else more pro.
I don't have much time to learn sophisticated software !!

Thanks a lot.

(The project is an ERP Implementation that is to span over 2 years)
thanks,

I read an article that says there are software programs available that will search all images on a hard drive from individual faces or other graphic components.  What software is available that can do this?  Retail or shareware is fine.

Thanks,

Phil Simmons

Hi,

If you not only want to  create a plain pdf-files from within Word 2010 (and thus can use the option built into Word), but also would like to be able to set user rights, like if the pdf-file will be able to be printed or not, secured with a password, etc, etc. What would you recommend in this case?

I am not talking about a fullfledged Acrobat Pro equivalent, but something more like just "below" Adobe Acrobat Standard.

Thanks!

Hey guys,

     I just started at a new company and they use a software I'm not familiar with: Exact MAX ERP version 4.0.0.97. It really is a quite touchy and annoying software in my opinion. For one, the install process is tedious to say the least. We have to first install the Pervasive SQL client and then the MAX client itself. Once the client is installed you have to change all the user-defined settings for every unique user using MAX on that PC. For instance, if I install a client on a machine where there will be a first, second, and third shift employee...I have to log into each of their profiles separately and manually change all the default settings for all the different modules in MAX. Which brings me to my first question: Is there a way to copy settings files over to each users profiles so that we can easily have uniform preferences for each unique user without having to set it up manually each time?

My other question is concerning uninstalling the software. If you try to uninstall the client using add/remove programs, it gives you the error "The client setup must be run from the NET folder on the server. Exiting client setup", the entry in add/remove programs never goes away, and it does no uninstall. MAX does not have a folder in "Program files" but does have C:\Exact\MAX. There is no uninstall program in that location either.

I'm a bit confused and not sure why they made this software so complicated to troubleshoot. Can anyone fill me in on some pro …

I have this rolodex that I would like to get rid of. It is mostly full of business cards.  Has anyone found a good system for organizing these, and maybe accessing the from the iphone? I have looked at Neat Receipts, and it kind of looks interesting. I have also imported a card into the Mac's Address book, but it doesn't really look that good, and I really don't want to have all these company cards mixed in with my personal contacts.

My PC is an HP e9150t quad core desktop using an Intel i7 CPU (920@2.67 GHz). I have 8 GB of RAM and am running Windows 7 Home Premium-64-Bit. It was purchased new from HP, in July 2009.

One of my external drives that I've been using as a backup is a 1 TB drive, which just last week showed approximately 300 gigabytes being used. Imagine my surprise today when I got messages that I could not add anything more to the drive because it was on a room. When checking properties for that drive, it showed all but 175 kB being used!

I then tried to find a utility I had used for the last 1-2 years which very quickly and efficiently shows all directories and/or folders in a tree like structure, including useful information such as directory size and the percentage of the total drive capacity which is being consumed by that directory.

After a very frustrating 2 1/2 hours of searching my computer as well as online, I can't find the software, which of course I don't remember the name of. I downloaded and tried 2 other packages that sounded like they would do similar functions and found them so unbelievably slow that I could probably do the job faster manually.

I know there's a problem someplace because I went to each of the folders on the "full" drive, right clicked and looked at the properties to determine the size of the folder. After doing a rough calculation, I would be surprised if it totals more than 400 GB so I've absolutely no idea why it is showing essentially full when…

Hi,

I ran across this software tool and it looks pretty nice.  My manager wanted to see if anyone else has an experiences with this package and/or has used similar utilities successfully.  The URL is at:  http://www.printerpropertiespro.com/products/mover.

We have about 1400 printers and at least one of our print servers is overloaded over the Microsoft recommended 300 queue threshold and another one is close.  I want to balance the queues out with our different print servers which are all virtuals.

In particular I like the seamless way that this software may be able to move the client printer connections as well with no user intervention.  All you have to do is call the executible from a login script.

To answer your question we do use Microsoft's Print Migrator 3.1 version.  It works decent but this package seems to have more capabilities.

Please note that this is not an endorsement for this product or some marketing gimmick.  If you look at my past questions I work in the IT field and my manager wants to do some validation before we go to testing.  Thank you.

Hi All,

I am after some software (free or small cost) that will allow basic users to make minor changes to PDF documents in the area of annotations and or circling areas of interest in the PDF.

This program does not need to be a fully fledged editing tool

Please give me a list if you have any suggestions thank you.

I need some expert advice on the best way to merge data from an MS SQL db directly to a multi-page pdf file. This has to be done with almost no user intervention at all, I want them to select some basic critera on the form and click "Merge" button and voila, the pdf opens with all the merged data in the document. This is used to create reminder letters for bill collection. The source document will be in a MS Word document, formatted for a #10 window envelope. Mail merge in Word is way too complicated for the users I'm dealing with. This merge will be handling as many as 10k letters per batch, so overhead is a concern.
I've been looking for a good pdf library to use, but haven't had much luck. Any recommendations on that?
Also, Acrobat Professional or any of those products will not be on the end user's machine-I'm looking for a solution with a stand-alone library.

Private Sub Merge_Click()
    	Dim cn As ADODB.Connection
    	Set cn = New ADODB.Connection

    	cn.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=" & DB & ";Data Source=" & SERVER

    	cn.Open cn, sqlUserName, sqlPassWord

    	Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
    	Set rs = New ADODB.Recordset

    	rs.ActiveConnection = cn

    	rs.CursorLocation = adUseClient
    	rs.CursorType = adOpenStatic
    	rs.LockType = adLockBatchOptimistic

    	rs.Source = "select * from table where criteria= 'something'"

    	rs.Open

Hello,

I have some Excel vba code which is saving the currently open workbook to a network folder. A form is displayed, in which the user enters the base name of the file. If the user does not enter a base file name, I would like to use a process id as the base file name. Is there any Excel VBA routine which allows me to generate a process id?

Hi Experts. We currently use PRIMOPDF to print excel docs or word docs to pdf but everytime we convert the doc, xls to pdf it converts perfectly except that if the file has a jpeg picture then the pixels distort. Is there a specific setting to ensure the jpeg pic shows perfect or is there another program we can use.
