Question about scheduling an alarm or alert of some kind that would help me keep focused and on task. This may sound simplistic but I have some focus issues and looking toward ways to keep on track. Searching for an audible solution but there may be other solutions I am not familiar with. I was thinking a beep or .wav or mp3 clip that would remind me to check in on my task list for the day. Back in my day I remember the radio DJ's used to send a message out ....."Turn so you won't burn!".... every half hour of the day. Bottom and top of every hour. So you knew the time and you knew 30 minutes have passed.

I have brand new to me (Samsung Galaxy S6) A spare phone I bought in a deal from AT&T. I know how to create an event and noticed that loaded up my calendar view so it is almost worthless from the number of blocked out time slots. Is there a simple way to do this on this phone or an APP that might be perfect for what I need. I also take a medication to help me focus and other time based events like everyone else does who tries to plan or schedule anything.

Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

After many years of using iPhone's, I'm now a new Android Phone user and have just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S9+ 256GB 4GX for myself and I'm finding the transition to be difficult.

A mate of mine on EE has explained how to get apps from the Google Play store but rather than bug him privately all the time with my endless questions, I thought I'd raise a question here and hopefully get some answers to my most pressing questions at the moment.

1.  On my iPhone, I had utilities and was even able to just use Windows File Explorer to transfer things like pictures and videos to and from my computer. Yet I'm having a lot of trouble finding something that will allow me to do this with my Samsung.

What I basically want (and I'm more than happy to purchase) is something which will allow me to view my Samsung in a Window/Utility that lets me copy individual things like Movies, Pictures and so on, both to and from the phone. Surely a tool like that exists for Androids as well?

  • Recommendations for tools that are available for my Samsung would be highly appreciated.

  • Please provide links and advise if you have personal experience with using what you recommend.


  • BTW, I know how to google, but doing so just makes it more confusing :)

2.  I currently use Smart Switch which was recommended to me by Samsung Support Chat as a way to Backup my Samsung (and restore if needed) and more importantly, to be able to Syncronize my Outlook Contents with my phone.

I currently upload finish line pictures from races I time to Google + and share the gallery with race finishers so they can find their picture.  I would like to take that a step further and share each finishers individual picture with them.  I believe Google Vision has the technology to do that...albeit for a cost...by pairing participant bib number with bib in the image.  Is anyone familiar enough with this api to give me some direction as to how to do this?  Also, any idea how this product is priced?

But should people be able to reach me also at a sip address like sip://joebob@acme.com?

I am currently in a trial with Citrix Sharefile... but find the pricing a bit too much for our company at the moment..   Love the features .. Large File send.. Encryption .. all integrated into Outlook.   In my email signature I have a link for people that need to send me files... etc..etc..     Does anyone know of any other companies that offer this type of service that might not be as expensive?

Years ago, I used a program called Managing your money (the DOS version, to give you an idea of how long ago this was). This came out before quicken and had more features than just checkbook management,

One key feature was a reminder list as part of its calendar.  You could put in a recurring or one time event like you can in Outlook now. But also let you set a window for reminder.  So for  a birthday for example, you could set it to 7 days and on a reminder page that came up when you first went into the app but also available at any time, that reminder would show up for 7 days before the birthday. A nice way to let you know what was coming up and give you time to send out a card. Rather what seems to be the case now with Outlook when you get to that day and see it's someone's birthday and rush to get a card out.  Once the birthday passes, that reminder falls off the reminder list till 7 days before the next year's birthday.

Of course, now I see it's important for reminders for clients for tax payments due, etc.

We've grown to suggest clients put in a recurring event starting days before the actual date, then after they deal with the tax payment, they manually move it to the next month, quarter or year as appropriate.

Is there likely some blatantly obvious equivalent in Outlook that I don't know about?  A way to make a single entry (again, using the birthday analogy) that can be recurring but also allow alerts for a selectable amount of time before that will also …

I have a trust center policy established for Office, Word, etc. 2010. Yet the last two times I've installed Office 2010 for a user I get the "read only" banner at the top of the document. I've had to go to options > trust center ..., in Word, Excel and powerpoint on the workstation and specifically add the redirected folder location in order for the user to be able to edit the documents without having to "Enable for editing" each time something is opened. In my Group Policies I have:

Protected View, Trust Center Office 2010 > Policies > Administrative Templates: Policy definitions > Microsoft Word 2010 > Word Options > Security > Trust Center > Trusted Locations > Trusted Location #1, set to \\mail.hprs.local (AD/DC), Enabled and subfolders are checked.

... Trust Center > Trusted Locations > Allow Trusted Locations on the network, is enabled.checked.

The above is likewise set for Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010 and Office 2010.

Why then do the Office programs on the workstation give me the Protected Mode "Read Only" setting and require me to add the location to the trust center locally for each Office component?

I've been using calendar software called Visual Calendar Planner, since the mid-90's, to keep track of check-ins and check-outs at my B&B.  The software shows a month at a time, allows creation of recurring events, can be shifted forward or backward with arrows, and I can type in guest's names.  The application is difficult to maintain in the current Windows environment, without using WinXP Mode, so I'm ready to replace it.  I've searched for something comparable, without success.  Please see the screen shot and let me know if you are aware of something comparable.

contacts are saved under an email address but i have multiple email addresses. i can edit name and phone number fields but can not edit email address. If i saved contact under wrong email address I need to start over. delete and resave contact

Hello,

I have a client who has 60 hospital clients throughout the US. They are looking to grow but we want to see what attributes these 60 clients might have in common as compared to all of the other hospitals around the US. We'll have access to all kinds of volume, demographic, and other financial information to use in this comparison. What would be the best tool to have the system try to suggest where there might be a disproportionate amount of hospitals that have xyz characteristic in the 60 existing clients as compared to the rest of the US? I have access to IBM Cognos, Tableau and even a free trial of Watson. I just would rather not go through all 200 characteristics of all potential hospital clients one by one manually in order to stumble into one that might be a key attribute we can use to target other similar clients for sales efforts.

Hi Experts,

Speech  recognition in Power BI  is not working.  Can you please help me in setting up the Speech recognition  and walk  me through steps on how to  use  the Speech recognition and then translate that speech  in to text automatically  and then should show me the  data in  Visual Graph  or  TABLE  ( required KPI) on Power BI Server. All this should happen automatically without any manual interaction.  I mean recognize speech  then translate to text and then display the  data in visual graph (or) table.

Please let me know if I have to download any API's . Please help me with this . Will appreciate your  help in this regard.

Please Note : Q&A is working . But unable to use the Speech recognition(enabled from Control panel)  on Power Bi Server.

When I use The Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer for Skype for business connectivity I get an error when it is attempting to obtain the SSL certificate from remote server. please see attached.

Any suggestions for the best way to search a lot of text readable documents automatically in one go for a single unique key word or sentence.

I am essentially trying to undertake an information discovery for legal purposes  and searching some 50 PDF and Word documents for a set of words or sentence in parenthesise.  

Perhaps a software that I can use to direct it to a particular folder containing all the documents?  It would need to be able to highlight the word or sentence I am looking for, ideally without me having to open each file one by one.  I think Windows search might do something like this, I might need to check.

Hi All,

I am searching for a support system for a small team of around 10 users.  The features that I would like are:

Integrate with our website so that users can log and create/update support requests;
Create groups for support requests;
Real-time instant messaging;
Customer Database;
Mobile phone app;
Used with a support email address;
To be installed locally;

I have tested many systems but cannot find a system with all these features.  I am looking for something that we can host and pay an annual support fee for.

Any help and suggestions would be great.

I am working on an Excel user form, and have created a form that enters data into a sheet called 'TrackingSheet'. I would like to make the following enhancements:
  1. Have only the user form visible, and not the Excel application.
  2. Enable the user to scroll back to previous records within the user form (read-only view)

I am considering a small mass emailing to promote my new book. But I do not have the technology yet to validate who has opened the email and who has not.

I once use MailGun and found that had a great technology for that kind of validation.

Does anyone have suggestions about what other things are important when validating the response rates from a mass mailing?

I need to track:
- conversion rate of a purchase, based upon the number who saw the email
- I need to know who saw the email so I could consider sending it a second time to those who did not see it the first time

What else?

What tools exist? Free is better.

I am considering Zoho because of its ability to trace whether the email was opened.

How do I add developers to the bug assignments list in tfs 2015?

My tester is adding bugs to a project and is complaining that there are no developers in the drop-down list of developers to assign the bug to... I'm not familiar with using TFS as a testing platform; is there a TFS role the developer need to be in?
I guess the base question is: What feeds the bug assignments drop-down list?

I suppose a Web interface is okay instead of a Mac program, but we'll see that the choices are...

About 18 months ago I researched the difference between the online version and the desktop versions of QuickBooks.

It became apparent that the online version is a very scaled down subset of the desktop product,

I am wonder has there been any chance since?

I have a customer who has a really old version of QB , I think 2006, he is buying a new Laptop, latest version of MS Office, etc,  I thought that the online version might suit him as he spends a lot of time out off the office as he is a small builder. He spends a day in the office per week, the rest of the time he is on site managing small construction jobs, it might be useful for him to be able to access his QB quotes, ices, etc. Or to generate invoices while off site.

Nore, he is based in Ireland, and ideally the Onlive version would work for local taxes (Revenue, VAT, etc.)

I need to share my desktop for a presentation, so hopefully, WhatsApp supports screen sharing, like Skype. I have a Mac and want to present a Powerpoint Presentation running in Windows 7 on Parallels.

For this to work, can I install WhatsApp on my Mac? Then, load Parallels, Windows and Powerpoint?

Or, do I need to install WhatsApp on Windows?
