A programming language is a formal constructed language designed to communicate instructions to a machine, particularly a computer. Thousands of different programming languages have been created, mainly in the computer field, and many more still are being created every year. The description of a programming language is usually split into the two components of syntax (form) and semantics (meaning). Some languages are defined by a specification document (for example, the C programming language is specified by an ISO Standard), while other languages (such as Perl) have a dominant implementation that is treated as a reference. Some languages have both, with the basic language defined by a standard and extensions taken from the dominant implementation being common.

{
len=len+len;

}
return str.substring(0,1)+len;
}
  return "";
}

My test cases are failing as below

Given a string and an int n, return a string made of the first and last n chars from the string. The string length will be at least n.

nTwice("Hello", 2) → "Helo"
nTwice("Chocolate", 3) → "Choate"
nTwice("Chocolate", 1) → "Ce

I only know a little about VB - enough to be dangerous. If I have the following code, how can I change it to move down a single row without it naming a specific range – “A1342” in this example????? I do not want it to put the actual range in there; I just want to move down a single row. Thanks.

Sub Remove_Blanks()
'
' Remove_Blanks Macro
' Delete blank rows
'

'
    Range("A1342").Select
    Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
    Selection.EntireRow.Delete
    ActiveSheet.ShowAllData
    Range("A2").Select
End Sub

Experts, I have a database that I pull some records from when my application begins into a Dataset. Throughout the use of the application the data is used by the user. When the application closes I would like to update the database with the data in the dataset. I have looked at the update method but it seems I need for the Dataadapter to be hanging around to do this. I dispose of the Dataadapter after I retrieve the records I need when the application starts. How can I do this?

Hi,

public String withoutEnd(String str) {
int i=str.length();
if(i>=2)
return str.substring(1,2)+str.substring(2,i-1);

i am getting error as below

Compile problems:

Error:      public String withoutEnd(String str) {

Possible problem: the if-statement structure may theoretically
allow a run to reach the end of the method without calling return.
Consider adding a last line in the method return some_value;
so a value is always returned.

please advise on how to fix and improve my code. Thanks in advance

Hi guys, I'm pretty new to VB so need some help.

I've got a SQL query which runs and fills a dataset/table. It fills it with a heap of fields; Computer, Location, Floor, Owner, Type...

How can I get it to remove all the fields except "Location" and to then go through the list and remove any duplicates?

Not that it matters, but my dataset/table is sResult2.Tables(0)

Suppose the string "yak" is unlucky. Given a string, return a version where all the "yak" are removed, but the "a" can be any char. The "yak" strings will not overlap.

stringYak("yakpak") → "pak"
stringYak("pakyak") → "pak"
stringYak("yak123ya") → "123ya"
