Hi,

I have a JIRA instance that experienced problems recently and required a reinstall. Everything seems to be ok but jpeg images that were previously uploaded to projects are no longer showing. This is because images were previously on a different drive to JIRA installation. Now that I am on version 7 of JIRA I cannot change this location or it is not recommended. Is there any impact to simply copying the images to the new JIRA location in c:\porgram files? thanks

VIDEO: THE CONCERTO CLOUD FOR HEALTHCARE

Modern healthcare requires a modern cloud. View this brief video to understand how the Concerto Cloud for Healthcare can help your organization.

I have a very big production server in a VM with lots of web pages and SQL database code.

I want to set up VisualSVN so developers can work on the web and database code.

I have 2 options:
1) copy the production VM with all code, name this DEV-VM, and set up SVN on DEV VM
2) setup SVN on production VM so I don't have duplicate VMs that take up A LOT of space

Which option would you choose and why?

Hi!

Want to use Outlook as a Project Management tool.

Here’s my idea: create a category - Medieval Woodworking Tools Show.  MWTS

As the project proceeds I’ve got emails that come in. Categorize them MTWS.  Appointments I set, categorize those.  Contact I make - the same.  Tasks, too.

Takes 3 or 4 months to set up this show.  So by now I’ve got elements of the project across every category of Outlook - mails, appointments, contacts, tasks.

I can use Advanced Search to do an Across All Categories search based on Categorization. (Thanks Bil Prew!)  But, I’d need to drill down through the search dialogue each time I wanted to do that.

Is there anyway using User Defined elements - or any other method - that I could create a freestanding search that would autopopulate based on the MWTS category?

I was thinking of something like Customize Current View, but that I could build based on a Category?  So I could just one-click that view and right away get a cross-category list of everything that currently has the MWTS categorization tag inside Outlook.

This way I wouldn’t have to run the Advanced search and set all the criteria each time (risking some left out criteria) to find everything.  I’d have an on-going collection of everything related to the project.  Something I could just quick click to get to.

This would be especially great when one …

We want to implement seat management for my office IT Infrastructure .
Are there any feasibility study  framework to implement Seat Management system in IT Infrastructure ?

Anyone have a basic software scope (requirements) template I could have?

It would be for simple projects.

Was googling for this and wasn't finding anything really solid
quickly. Anyone have one they use that they would not mind sharing?
The projects are like 10 to 50 hours.

Thank you so much

hi guys

Are any of you working on implementing GDPR that plans to come into effect next March?

If so, do you have a list of things that need to be implemented technically on infrastructure, storage and network security?
I am looking for something that would have a list of 'to-do's' like:

"Must implement password complexity of one letter, number and eight characters that change every 30 days"
"Transfer of data from local source to destination must be recorded and its location known"

I just made the above up, but basically are there any lists that one could follow as guidance for the entire infrastructure?

Thanks for helping

Our firm has been using PhoneSlips for almost twenty (20) years. Unfortunately, we have outgrown the system and we are having constant data corruption issues and our IT guy is spending more than 8 hours a month trying to constantly repair data errors.

Our needs are straight-forward and concise:

Client Profile Management. Names, addresses, contact info, etc. Unless the database is very well designed, having the ability to customize fields would be a must.

Inter-Office Messaging. We prefer an environment where this feature is not a separate program.

Appointment Scheduler. We want scheduling built into the same program. I am amazed at the number of CRM programs that have inadequate or no scheduler.

Task/Project Scheduling would be a plus.

Cloud-based of course. Our people need to access this info from their laptops, IOS and Android-based phones.

Online training videos - No Seminars. Software so complicated that people have to attend fly to a seminar somewhere is not only poorly-designed/presented, but typically not well received. One thing I have learned as a managing partner, make a job difficult for employees and they will make life difficult for you.

Good phone support. Offices becoming so reliant on these programs that good and quick software support is a must.

Please be frank. If you know someone using a system that has allowed their office to become more efficient, I want to hear about it. If they are running a system they wished they had never …

I am working on a large project and I need to pass some tasks to an external freelance, the problem I am facing is that the tasks they have to do doesn't touch all the modules, it is a document manager associated with clients, and I don't want to gave the complete project because it size and segurity .
The project is build in Java using Maven, and the idea to pass the project is as follows:

1- Delete the packages of the modules they don't need and adapt the project to make it work without those modules
2- Make a SVN branch and giving only access to that branch
3- When the changes are completed I do a SVN merge file per file to move changes to the project

The problem is that requires me to adapt the project to pass it, wasting time and then when I merge the changes I have to pass it manually one by one with a lot of risk of miss something.

What would be the best way to work with a freelancer without having to spend time adapting the entire project and without having problems later to integrate the changes?

thanks

Hi
We are going to migrate from Exchange to office 365 and also going to change our email address and our address will change from Eg: Jay Smith current email is jsm@cardgov.sch.uk
To:  Jay.smith@nealth.cardgov.org.uk
I am working on a project plan and listing what all the services that will impact and how to make this changes, if the user SMTP address is changed and the considerations, so that the changeover goes smoothly. I am planning to make format on this project plan and check list for implementing this project plan. Please let me know if there is any template or your suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

I'm looking for a better task management solution. I could use some suggestions based on my requirements.

requirements in order of importance, top 6 are a must
  1. -has web/PC app and mobile (Android) app, data being synchronized
  2. -tasks can have due dates
  3. -can associate with "note to self" directive on Android, so I can say "OK Google, note to self, buy birthday cards" and it will make a new task for me hands-free
  4. -can search text contents on mobile and on PC
  5. -has some way of categorizing tasks (lists, categories, folders)
  6. -paste images from clipboard into a task
  7. -attach files to a task
  8. -keyboard shortcuts on PC to create and edit tasks
  9. -can create sub-tasks or related (e.g. "is-blocked-by") tasks
  10. -tasks have priorities (normal,high,etc.)
  11. -tasks can have reminders/alerts at least in the Android app
  12. -can be target of share on Android, e.g. a text message, a URL, or an image can feed into the app and becomes a task
  13. -can easily transfer my existing tasks from Google Tasks
  14. -can share one of the task lists/categories with another person

current situation
I'm currently using GTasks on Android and a Chrome extension (Better Google Tasks), which essentially repackages mail.google.com. This solution has much of the above, but the web interface is clunky and I'm really missing the ability to paste images.

which one?
I've read these are popular and good, but that's a lot to test every one of them. Any suggestions?

Anyone has a project plan handy for building a Telco room for a small office.  Up to 50 users.
Just making sure not missing anything.
Stuff like electrical, cabling, A/C, racks, UPS, network gear, etc, etc.  Or point me to the good reference links if you have any.
Thanks!

We are in the process of finding out the best option to keep updated on various IT Projects within the organization.    In the next couple of months and for the next two years we are in the process of planning and coordinating.    This will be initially used by about 10 people.

What is the best option or program to use for an small size organization.     I guess something on the lines of SharePoint.  Is there something more effective and cheaper.  Also, what may be cost for such an application/program.
Will appreciate your advice.
Thank  you.

Hi Experts,

Can anyone advise me of a good and inexpensive Mapping Tool for developers?

I am imagining that it is almost lime mockups where you can show field, flows, etc?

I am an experienced developer, but I have been accustomed to writing lengthy proposals with walls of text, but now I see more profitability in pictorial proposals.

Thanks

Dears,

I am about to embark in the management of my company using JIRA tools.
I have been using trello, Smartsheets,Axosoft , Todoist.Assembla and toodledo.
So I do have some experience with Agile/Kanban.
I have set up JIRA yet I am faced with some "organizational dilemma".
My setup is as follows :
we are 4Developers.
2 fully dedicated to developing
1-Developing + managing the company (tasks/prioirities)
1 Developing + help desk

We are now managing around 30 Customers and we also have our own project (a New software to be launched in 2019)
I got JIRA software + confluence +Service Desk +Tempo Planner.
My question is how to configure JIRA.
1-Do I create a project per customer ? and if yes how to aggregate them later on ?
2-How to link the Service Desk to my project (s) - If I allow 1 customer to post on JIRA Desk shouldn't that ticket be also showing in the project

As you see my problems are related to "business" configuration. And I am expecting to need some help with this.
Where can I get that help ? Coz reading the JIRA help won't be enough. It helps me understand how the tool work , but not what is the best way to configure it !
Thanks

Hi Experts

Does any one know a good and inexpensive program for project management, where I can:

- specify milestones  by project.
- for each milestone, specify tasks.
- for each task, specify hours, % completed, cost, assigned to, add Rich Text notes and attachments.

- combine tasks that I will do this week from multiple projects (Color coded), with running totals of time and cost.

 - for each project, milestone see a summary

Thank you

Hello,

I have created a list for project status updates on SP 2013. It has columns like Project Name, Owner, Status, start & end date, Updates(Comments).

Under the Updates column, there is one big comments sections where we keep adding additional updates each week.

Eg: 6/6/17: Project kick off

     6/27/17: Revised Plan

This is not a very user friendly view and will soon run out of character space.

How do I setup Project status updates for every week such that whenever Manager wants to see updates for projects at a end of particular week, he gets it.

Hi,

Does anyone have any tools that exports / backups your entire Trello account / boards.

I know the Business Class provides backup but it's one board at a time. I have over 70 boards so it's a little time consuming to backup each month.

Thank you in advance for your help.

The field should designate a categorisation of the work.

Hi,

We are employing a new developer next week.

Our current developers have been working with us for a number of years and they have direct access to everything (which i know is not the best policy).

01 - What is the best way to rollout a new developer onto a project. We have a set roadmap for them to work on, so essentially they will need to access all of the code.

02 - How can you stop a developer from stealing the code, or at least put security precautions in place?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm an IT report developer with a few miles on my belt. Officially we are the Business Intelligence team. We use SAP Business Intelligence Suite 4.2, aka BusinessObjects. I remember James Martin back in the day (1990's) but haven't heard or read much about him, not that I'm the most well read person around. But I do have a pretty good library of software development books, from Karl Weigers to Steve McConnell to Gerald Weinberg, and "The Mythical Man Month". At the moment I'm trying to bring our organization into modern times in regards to Business Intelligence. What we have are awful legacy minded reports that no one uses, i.e., 85% of active OLTP users run NO reports (and the OLTP itself is a 1990's style system).

We are also trying to bring in Crystal Reports for high-end reporting, and other tools for "Dashboards".

Around here it's a totally legacy mindset, to include a CIO who's up there in years and is totally old-school, constantly referencing to James Martin and his approach. So is JM still a "classic" who's books should be on my shelf (to include reading them)? In order to influence the organization to "get modern", I have to start by convincing the CIO that there's a better way nowadays (to Business Intelligence).  Also, no one around here knows how to spell "agile".

Do you have a recommended James Martin classic or two, at least so I can be able to step up intellectually to where the CIO is coming from? And while I'm at it, any other classic books / …
