Quality assurance (QA) is a way of preventing mistakes or defects in products and systems, and avoiding problems when delivering solutions or services to customers. QA is applied to software to verify that features and functionality meet business objectives, and that code is relatively bug free prior to shipping or releasing new software products and versions. Quality assurance comprises administrative and procedural activities implemented in a quality system so that requirements and goals for a product, service or activity will be fulfilled. Two principles included in quality assurance are: "Fit for purpose" (the product should be suitable for the intended purpose); and "right first time" (mistakes should be eliminated).

Does anyone know of a tool or method I can use to simulate roughly 10000 live stream connections to a windows media server? I would like to test and see how the server would handle this heavy of a load. The streams we will be using are roughly 200-300k each. The server is windows server 2003 standard, 2gb ram, single processor dual core e5310 @ 1.6ghz.

Hi Experts,

Our company do lots of developement and we recently installed a new testing Lab.  All programs that get released to clients will have to undergo a quality assurance test in the lab first.  I am tasked with creating or compiling a generic Quality Assurance template.

This is basically a single document that will serve as a complete guideline for testing any program that requires quality assurance control.

I do have my own ideas but there must be some sort of practice or school of thought to follow.  Are there any Quality Assurance specialists that can give me some advice / guidance?

Thanks

I am attempting to simulate the corruption a picture in JPEG format experiences when tranamitted through a channel with white noise interference.   Assuming there is no channel coding on top of the JPEG, what is an easy way to add white noise of various intensities to the picture in JPEG format?

I may need to explain a bit about source code management to non-programmers, and would like to hear other programmers talk about things like:

- the main branch
- a branch for a new feature
- merging the new feature into the main branch
- methodologies for adding new features that will be released before a major new version

I'd also like to hear about QA testing requirements as the you merge into the main branch.

I just have to explain this to non-programmers in a way which is simple to understand.  But I may learn something myself in the process.

thanks,

I need to make my test data driven. My web page has various links and tester selection of the links is arbitrary. But when I check the value returned by the links. It gives a null value. How would I make my test data driven if the values are null.

I am trying to develop a programming language, hence needs lots of test cases(program to be compiled and run) in order to ensure it works correctly.
I am very eager to know how to design large amount of test cases, which can accurately test the correctness of the program.

My problem is:

what is the good strategy to design large amount of good test case(take care of corner cases as well) and to know the correct result of each of the test case? (if it is traced it by pen and paper, seems like not possible for generating large amount of test cases)

Thank you very much!

We are developing both ASP.NET web sites, and WinForms clients in C#.  We would like to find a software solution that can automate the testing of user interfaces.  We would need to evaluate this software, so it would need some kind of downloadable trial version.

TIA,
Bob

Good Morning,

I have been asked to do a software inventory of existing applications in our organization.  This is not automated..basically visit the client and ask how the software runs.  For this assignment, I have tried to do a quick search on the net to see if I could come up with a basic format of questions for the users.   I have not found this type of reference....I even looked in Safari Books.  Then I decided on this forum because I needed some live contacts.

What would you suggest?

I have to inventory food tracking software, dental software, and fundraising software.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Lucy

Looking for a simple, free ticketing application to track requests and issues on a specific project. I know there are a MILLION of them out there with online, collaborative web interface, but I'm looking for something much more simple to install and use. A canned, self-contained Win32 application. I don't want to configure Apache, PHP, PostgreSQL or anything like that. I don't need to share with my colleagues in Indonesia, nor do I need to have automatic ticket submissions via email, desktop widgets or pager alerts to my iPhone.

I fully realize that I could use Notepad, Excel or some other method, but those are so inelegant. I could probably also write something in Access, but again, I'm looking for something quick, simple and easy. I'm in the middle of a huge project and my brain is too tired to write anything.

Thanks for any information on this subject!

We are building an online ticketing system through an offshore developer (using open source - java, Mysql, JBoss, Apache, Linux).

We want to ensure that the source code handed over to us will be of good quality and maintainable, we were also told to have code scan utilities to check the source code for bugs and security vulnerabilities.

What are the commercially available code scaning tools for us to include as a requirement in the Scope of Works?
