Quality assurance (QA) is a way of preventing mistakes or defects in products and systems, and avoiding problems when delivering solutions or services to customers. QA is applied to software to verify that features and functionality meet business objectives, and that code is relatively bug free prior to shipping or releasing new software products and versions. Quality assurance comprises administrative and procedural activities implemented in a quality system so that requirements and goals for a product, service or activity will be fulfilled. Two principles included in quality assurance are: "Fit for purpose" (the product should be suitable for the intended purpose); and "right first time" (mistakes should be eliminated).

Does Selenium support White Box Testing?

We developers find that sometimes a lengthy test can be truncated by us doing a particular database query during the test workflow. So, I wonder if Selenium can be configured to perform such a database query?

This seems to be White Box testing. Can Selenium  do this?

Thanks

I had this question after viewing URL is changing after rewrite with proxy flag.

I am having a similar issue with my Jira instance, but rather than writing :8080 after the URL, :80 is getting inserted. I am not at all an Apache guru and am stumbling along using the Atlassian guides which have not been able to assist me with this problem.

In short: I configured Jira for SSL with Apache acting as a reverse proxy. I have The configs exactly as several guides recommend and when I hit the web pages at https://my.jira.site.com/jira the URL is changed to https://my.jira.site.com:80/jira. If I remove the :80 a couple times, the log in page will come up with the proper URL and will show secure with a valid cert.

After I put in my creds, it does the :80 thing a couple more times and then runs fine.

I am completely puzzled about this.

If someone thinks that they might have a thought, I can post my configs.

Thank you.

Need an automation test tool for QA testers

We are considering Selenium...

I need a test tool for non-programmers, because i need the following:

- The first test on a new feature is done by a human
- Before they start the test, the QA tester clicks the Start button.
- The QA tester clicks on various controls and enters various amounts of information
- The tester adds Assertions to the test script, that will be used by the automation to Pass or Fail the test
- When the test is done, the QA testers clicks Done

This is what I want. Does Selenium do this? Any programming required?

Or, are the other tools?

Not sure if it matters, but this is a .NET Framework website...

Thanks

Hi experts

Since I'm part of new team managing cloud projects (AWS)

As part of DevOps, would like to introduce few automation which will streamline CICD

My request is, could you please help me with some pointers, essential process, best practices, house keeping, monitoring automation (I know, its a wide topic) but even a link to a third-party would be very helpful.

Basically below are the areas would like to get some help.

GITHUB
1. github on commit deployment to DEV or QA?. (we already have basic branching and release strategy)
2. Housekeeping, deleting old branches
3. Automated git commit report (generate release note from git code commit).

Atlasian JIRA:
1. Automation around JIRA
2. Integration with github, confluence
3. Essential alerts and report.

Jenkins:
1. On commit, reports etc.

please let me know, if you want me to create individual question for each topic

Thanks

I have an ASP.NET Web Site built in .NET 4.7 using C#. In my web.config, I have the following Forms authentication (see web.config below) with the "domain" attribute set to ".mydomain.com" for my Production environment. Is there a way to dynamically change its value (via C#)  based on the environment, such as QA, Staging, etc. For example, if (Request.Url.AbsoluteUri.StartsWith("http://qa")), then I want to change the value of the "domain" attribute to ".myqadomain.com", and  if (Request.Url.AbsoluteUri.StartsWith("http://staging")), change the value to ".mystagingdomaincom".

Here's the <authentication> section of my web.config:
    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms path="/" name="MyWebSite_Auth" loginUrl="~/login.aspx" defaultUrl="~/customers/Default.aspx" protection="All" slidingExpiration="true" domain=".mydomain.com" timeout="350" cookieless="UseCookies"/>
    </authentication>

Please provide the necessary C# code to accomplish this.

Many thanks in advance.

We would like to keep tracking of many things, to produce reports based on date interval, etc.  Kind of things we would like to track are not necessarely "computer/network related":

  • Grant/Revoke access rights (computer, building access, etc)
  • Keep a list of downtime
  • Keep a tracking of non-conformity
etc...

Does anyone have a suggestion?  Preferably an Online solution.  We have seen many ISO27001 solutions, but they are all expensive.

(PS: We are actually using JIRA for task related actions, but it's not really good for reporting and it's more a solution to keep tracking of progress on a project related task)

Thanks you

DB2 10.5 LUW on Windows Server

I added a datatime column to each table in my production database that matches this ...
DW_LASTTIME	TIMESTAMP	NOT NULL	GENERATED BY DEFAULT FOR EACH ROW ON UPDATE AS ROW CHANGE TIMESTAMP

We use this to determine when data in a row has changed so we can load it into our SQL Server data warehouse for analytics and reporting.  I knew there would be some overhead, and we tested it in QA and it seemed to be fine.  Now I have some people complaining of slowness and they are blaming this change.  How can I determine how much overhead this is causing?  This is on Windows Server so not sure how I can capture this information, if it is even possible.  Any thoughts?

Hi,

Please see https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29149554/Powershell-and-Remedy-Force-automation.html?headerLink=workspace_open_questions

I d like to do the same for Jira (on prem).
Apparently there is an integration for Azure Devops there too, but then a cloud solution needs to connect to on Prem Jira...?

Thanks for input!

I am attempting to create an automation in Jira (Atlassian) service desk software.
Having created a front end form, with relevant fields and check box lists.
Which is working mostly as it should.
The automation creates and allocates the information correctly....
with the exception.....my automation picks up all of the fields (check-boxes) selected and creates sub-tasks for all the check-box fields, however it does not differentiate between the ones that have been selected, and ignoring the ones that have not.

Therefore still presents all of the sub-tasks on the form (as tasks) - including as I say the ones that have not been selected.

As a total newbie to this I am sure it is in the if / then / else part of the automation....but am scratching my head wondering what I am not seeing.

Could be that I have to create some additional JQL statements to fulfil?
Not sure.
Still investigating

Any assistance or pointers gratefully received.

I have taken over an ETL project that is having issues with delivery, specifically the data migration part.

I was wondering if someone experienced with ETL projects can provide an insight on:
- Overall framework on how to deliver ETL project.
- What measure to have in place to provide Quality Assurance
- Best approach to data migration strategy.

Your help is much appreciated.

Regards,
J

Hello Experts,

I am new to atlassian/confluence. I am brainstorming some ideas to make a more reader friendly documentation available on our wiki, and I was wondering if a flow chart with links to different documents can be created on the wiki? So far, I have only found documents with links. I would like to have a flow chart with links in the shapes so the user can know which documents has the information needed. Thanks.

I'm using JQL (jira query language) to create a custom query filter from Issues.  I want display all keys and links.. but I want to group by or create a sub query to display all links underneath the keys it has relations too.... We can't use a SQL plugin or use Script runner, so I'm trying to find a work-a-round..

Is this at all doable.  We are using JIRA..

Experts, I am looking for a paid CA Devtest Service Virtualization tutorial online. The tutorial offered by CA requires me to provide a company email address which I can't at the moment. Does anyone have information about any websites that offer the training? Any inputs appreciated.

Hello, I am in the process of coming up with a git work flow for the company.

I have been looking at the classic example of a successful git strategy:  https://nvie.com/posts/a-successful-git-branching-model/

I have two questions:
1. I first wanted to confirm how everything gets started.  I take it, an empty master repository would first be created and the develop would be branched from that master branch?
2. If the company wants a QA branch in addition to all the other branches recommended in the model, my question is how is that best included so it creates less issues down the line?
 - should the qa branch be cut from the master and then develop branch cut from qa?
- should both the qa branch and the develop branches be cut from the master, with merges taking place from develop to qa as needed?

Please note, the reason they don’t prefer to have a qa branch, is to allow cherry picking of the features included in the branch from the develop branch.

Thanks for any direction you can provide..

Trying to write a ClientBuilder based method (Java/selenium tool) that handles the following condition: The Request Body for this api should be of type multipart/form-data and it should have a boundary differentiated between file attached to form and form fields

I have done the mutli Part Content in c# but the group needs to be written in Java. Here's the c# code that works for creating the request body. I just having some mental blocks writting the Java HTTP Client version (could not find any realistic samples out there)

Note: I trying to upload an application/msi or application/ms-dos-exec file via the form. Here's my c# code
		 MultipartFormDataContent multiPartContent = new
		 MultipartFormDataContent("----WebKitFormBoundaryliUiaMuaEcUBLr3A"); ByteArrayContent byteArrayContent = new
		 ByteArrayContent(LogoRequest.Content); byteArrayContent.Headers.Add("Content-Type", "image/png"); String
		 FileName = LogoRequest.Name; String ContentDispositionStr = "form-data; name=" + "\"logoImageFile\"" +"; " +
		 "filename=" + FileName; byteArrayContent.Headers.Add("Content-Disposition", ContentDispositionStr);
		 multiPartContent.Add(byteArrayContent); requestMessage.Content = multiPartContent;

I will soon be starting a podcast that will ultimately feature 2 or 3 episodes weekly. I travel a fair amount, so I know that having a system in place that would allow me to have automated uploads on certain dates and times would enable the episode updating to be a smooth process.

"Uploads" may be a little off the mark. I already have some cron jobs ON a website (freelanced out, since I am not a techie) that replace existing files on he website each Friday with new ones at a specified day and time on a weekly basis that has run very well for a couple of years now. I upload the new files on Wednesday or Thursday at my convenience and that's all I have to do.

To be sure, the names of the uploaded files are exactly the same as the ones being updated (or simply written over, that is).  I have not yet dug deeper into the names required for podcast files, if there are any such requirements, and want to get an expert view of what I want to do, as described.

I did some searching on Google, but they continue to descend into Internet Hell, insisting on providing search results that do not fit the search terms. On a recent trip. I needed to find a laundromat to do a load or two of laundry and a search on "laundromat" with the city name resulted in a list of DRY CLEANERS! Not even "close but no cigar" as far as I'm concerned.

I am using portecle to generate a java store cert for JIRA. I created the keystore, create the key pair, generated the CSR, processed the CSR using third party CA. I then imported the root cert into Portecle. When I import the CA response I get "could not establish trust for the CA reply. The import cannot proceed.
Why is this happening as everything appears correct.

Hi
Could anyone give me info on Jira insights asset management. I am interested to find out where Jira server should be located. I have multiple disconnected sites so I am unclear how the client connects back to the server and if I need to deploy beacon type servers to each site thanks

Hi,
Im a test engineer and planning to implement automation testing in our project which uses desktop applications in .net. Basically testing scope is to cover functionalities and to see whether each button are working fine. I would like to know automation tool which can be used for functionality testing of desktop applications with win forms for a QA person with
1. Only limited coding knowledge
2. Proficient in coding

Looking forward for some expert opinions.

looking for some sort of checklist or ideas in terms of criteria in which to critically appraise the performance of our IT service, which is partially in house and certain functions outsourced. I know there are obvious areas such as time to resolve incidents/service requests, uptime of critical apps etc. But was hoping if you work in a contract monitoring type role where you outsource certain IT functions if you have any criteria in which you audit/assess the relevant team against.
