Version: Inuit QB Enterprise Solutions Manufacturing & Wholesale  13.0

A client of mine sells inventory by the bottle and also by the case and is having an issue with inventory management. Can you give me some suggestions on how to set this up to allow for both UOM without having to create separate item numbers?

I'm using QuickBooks Pro 2016.  I'm trying to record the activity from our property manager, who is withholding the cost of repairs and maintenance to the building from the rent.  My issue is that when I receive the rent (let's say is $3,000), they withhold the cost of the repairs made that month (let's say $1,000).  So the payment received is $2,000.

The invoice for the rent is $3,000 and I only received $2,000.  I also need to mark the bill for the repairs as paid.  

If I use two entries, a rent payment received of $3,000 and a bill pay sent of $1,000, the outcome is what I need, but then the deposit won't match during reconciliation, nor will we have a payment of $1,000 clearing the bank account.

Any thoughts on how to record this transaction?
Hi Experts, please can anyone help me with the following.

I have just installed Quickbooks Pro 2016 and am setting up my invoice and estimate prints.  I want to make the background of column headers clear so that when it prints out all the background is white - currently the column headers always print out with a grey background even though when I am in layout designer the background is clear. Somehow I did manage to get the background clear on one invoice, but, I cannot seem to replicate that on any other invoice or estimate design.

help with this is greatly appreciated.
We are currently manually entering payroll information into QuickBooks for our employee's payroll.

Our company is about to use a 3rd Party software vendor to record an employee's Time Clock Punch In / Punch Out data.

We would then want to import this data into our QuickBooks Enterprise 2015 software to automatically create bi-weekly payroll.

The software vendor is understandably asking for a ".csv" file layout.   This would show them the layout they need to create for a successful import from their file to be imported into QuickBooks.

I'm having difficulty in finding / creating / exporting this info from QuickBooks into the required .csv layout.

Please advise.
We are running the subscription version of Quickbooks Premier.  All of the active workstations are on Windows 10 running Quickbooks 2014 with the company files being served from an XP station.

I am planning an version upgrade for next week. I would also like to migrate the data away from the XP station and host it on my Essentials 2012 R2 server.  I have attempted to migrate the data before and got failures when trying to open files in multi-user mode even with the Quickbooks server software properly installed and file rights checked.

I have some questions before I begin.

A - Can the data be migrated directly from 2014 to 2016 ?

B - If so, Would you update the server software on the XP station, or just install the 2016 server software on the 2012 server and hope for the best?

In my failed attempt to migrate QB 2014 data to the W2012 server I made sure that the user Quickbooks created when installing the service had full rights to the directory structure where the data was housed.  When this failed, I think I changed the user that owned the service to the system administrator, but it still failed when trying to run Multi-User mode.  I had previous success with a test scenario on two spare W10 workstations running QB 2015, so I suspect serving the 2014 data may have been the issue.

C - Are there any other tricks besides file rights for the hosting service that I need to do to make if work on Essentials 21012 R2?

This problem is all over the internet, but I'm hoping someone here will be able to push me in the right direction. The problem reported is one which I can duplicate. I am running on a 1-year-old server with Xeon E3 processor and 20GB RAM with a 3TB raid. It is running Server 2012r2 and Office 2013 Pro, both fully updated.

We have 5 concurrent users who all connect through RDP in the office to work on the server. The server CPU load is around 10% and RAM use is around 20% for all users during the peak of business hours. I can duplicate the issue by creating a new dummy (empty) QuickBooks 2014 Company file. I choose any of the default reports, for example, Open Invoices. I choose the Export to Excel feature at the top of the report window. And it just crawls...

Here is a quote from someone else who experiences the same issue:
"I don't see how the order of installation would make a difference and it appears it didn't solve the problem.  I am having the same problem, where it fills in the cells individually as if someone is typing it out quickly.  And if I dare even CLICK on the sheet or another Excel sheet while it's filling, it will skip entering data in cells where there should be data."

Good day to all! I am experiencing a sudden but ongoing issues with QuickBooks Premier 2015. When one specific user attempts to open from her workstation a shared company file stored on a server (Server 2012 R2 Standard running QuickBooks Database Server Manager), about 3 seconds after entering the password and clicking open QuickBooks throws the error - QuickBooks has stopped working.., Event viewer shows the following two errors:

I know that there are many SDK and API out there by Intuit and third party, but I can't find which are for which version (Online, Desktop - edition, year, etc...).

I know there's an PHP Version, but I'm guessing that's only for the Online version,  and not Desktop?

I few years ago I remember there was a desktop driver that interacted with Quick Books as a database that you can open in queries.

Any ideas?
All of a sudden over the last couple of days quick books enterprise edition 7 keeps crashing on windows 2008 R2 Remote desktop Server with the following error. We have been running this successfully for over a year.

I have searched the Web with no answer pertaining to my particular problem
Right now we have a team of 5 people in accounting.  The team complains all the time about how slow quickbooks is.  We currently use Quickbooks enterprise 15.  QBE supports Terminal Services, and there are about 25 QB files, all small (the largest is 120 MB, smallest is 15)  The staff moves between and generally has two of them open any given time.  When switching and running reports seems to be where the problems slow down.   I am hoping that moving the file to local file that the TS users have will be faster for them to move between the companies files.  
The next problem is having the staff use their familiar Outlook for email.  I know the official preference is "Online mode unless the I/O isn't going to keep up".  This being said, I can't really find where that "level" is.  Obviously I/O for QBE is going to be taking some as well as regular office work, and there isn't a specific recommendation, but a 8 drive RAID 10 SAS is what I was thinking for this server.  Does any one see any problem for using this for QBE and Outlook for 5 users?
Is it possible to use quick books with Microsoft server 2012 Remote Desktop service? Do to the fact it only publish applications, and in order do use quick books at the first time of use it needs to be linked to its data file (linking it on the server does not help, the user at the first session needs to link it).
We are currently using Sage 50 Peachtree for all of our accounting needs, but the finance department is thinking about switching to Quickbooks. Has anyone ever made this switch? Is there any reason not to? Any striking reasons to do it? One feature that they absolutely have to have is the job costing feature since they use that for all of their different rentals to show cost and profit of each of them. Is there a simple way to convert our Sage company information and files into whatever Quicken uses? Thank you!
It use to be, with Windows 8, 7 and XP, that I could clone a computer to and identical Dell computer and the newly cloned computer would sense it was still on a Dell and not bother to activate. I am sure this is because the OS was installed with a Dell OEM SLP media.

   Now, with Windows 10, it looks like Dell no longer has OEM SLP media. It uses the retail media (TH2)  which basically does the same thing. When installing from ground zero it will look in to the BIOS to find the product and install accordingly. The difference being that now when I clone a computer the new computer will lose it's activation and demand a product key. It is still in the BIOS but I guess it isn't looking.

   Does anyone have any experience cloning Windows 10 on a Dell and getting by the activation?
I download a qbo and was in the process of accepting.  I press the leave for later.. how to I go back to that list to finish ?

Our office has QuickBooks 2011. We have recently started testing with the Thunderbird email client. The email configuration for QB give choices of Web Mail and QuickBooks E-mail. Our mail server is a self-hosted IMAP server, so I've picked Web Mail (even though it's not really webmail). I've selected "Others" as email provider (choices are Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) and put in the correct server name and port. See image, "Edit Email Info".

When I try to send a form, it prompts me for the password, repeatedly, but fails to send the message  (see image dialog marked "Email or Password is Incorrect"). On the mail server side I eventually (several seconds) get the message:

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Is it possible to do the following on a Windows 2012 server using a scheduled task:

1. Log into Quick Books (QB) as the administrator.

2. Run a Excel 16 Macro that exports a QB table, into Excel & saves it.

3. Ftp  that Excel file to a web server.

4. From a browser start a web server script.

I bought Quicken for Mac 2016, but honestly, it really sucks.

I was really excited at first when it was released, but alas, the software seems very hokey.
It constantly crashes and I cannot mix CAD$ accounts with USD$ account. (i.e. if I try to transfer between accounts, there is nothing to let me calculate the exchange rate. Also, when I download data from the bank it almost NEVER is able to match up with the data that is already in Quickbooks. Creates duplicate entries and I have to manually match everything, and even at that sometimes it won't let me match the entry and I have to just delete one. Causes WAAAAAY more work that it's worth. It would be easier to simply use an Excel spreadsheet

What do you guys suggest for Mac?  Hopefully something that can load the Quicken file that I've already set up now, but if not, that's OK. As long as it's a good program. Also, I need it to be able to print cheques on the Letter-sized paper (3 cheques per page). I don't need it for business (i.e. don't need payroll, tax, accounts payable, accounts receivable - don't need any of that). Just something simple and sweet to keep tracking of my personal bank accounts and print cheques. I don't care what it costs.
Warning - this company file needs to be updated. please ask your quickbook administrator to update the file.
My company sells software.  Some of the products require an activation key.  We purchase the keys in packs of 100 and sell them in smaller multiple units.

I am new to quick books so please pardon my lack of knowledge.

i treat each bock of 100 as a item with a quantity of 100 then I can manage who has purchased which "activation key"

Is there other ways to do this ?

We have a company file here we've been working on for some time, all of a sudden today we get the message; "the user name admin is not a recognized user" any ideas on how to fix it?
I have a customer running QB Pro 2013 at their business - there are five users running Windows 7 Pro workstations connected to a Windows 2011 SBS Server; which is running the QB database server.  There is also another small Windows 2012 server attached for running an online reporting software for their customers.  They have two needs when it comes to QB but are related - they need to be able to access the QB data remotely.  We do have a VPN setup thru their Sonicwall but as I have understood in the past the only way that this will work is once connected thru the VPN, they need to remote to another system in the network to run QB.  However when I was speaking to our accountant, he said we could do:
1.  VPN to server
2.  On laptop - map network drive to QB file
3.  On laptop - open up QB.

1.  Load QB Database server
2.  QB file loaded on shared drive
3.  Allow VPN from laptop
4.  Allow mapped network drive to shared drive

However I really don't know how to do this and he is unavailable - is this a viable solution?  If not, what can we do if they want to hire three people to work remotely - then we would have to have three other systems just sitting there??  Can we do something with that Server 2012?
