QuickBooks 2013 sending emails from an exchange account rather than the IMAP account that is both set as the default in Outlook 2013 and as the email account to use from QuickBooks.  This happens regardless of settings changes made and restarts.

We have a problem where Quickbooks users have to export reports to Excel.   When the user's were using Excel 2010, there was no problem exporting.  For example, when they used Excel 2010 one particular report took only about 1 minute to export to Excel 2010.  After "upgrading" to Office 2013 and then to 2016 (to try to fix problem), the same report may take about 10 minutes to export to Excel.   I've followed various forums and even a solution on Experts Exchange, but, none of them have any resolution that's worked for us.

After trying various thing from QB's website and the usual  tasks like: Windows updates, defrag, QB database rebuild, and chkdsk, I uninstalled 2016 on one system and reinstalled Office 2010 and this fixed the issue.  Even after installing 2016 alongside 2010 and making Excel 2010 the default spreadsheet application, everything is working great like it used to.   However, we have 3 new users and we're faced with either purchasing standalone Office 2010's for them or trudging along using our Office 2016.

It seems like a lot of people online have had the same problem but don't see many solutions to this issue.  Has any found a vaild solution to this?

Customer has multi-user Canadian QB Desktop Enterprise V16 and will be adding US QB Desktop Enterprise V17 for another company file.

Both need to support the same concurrent 3 remote users.

Question:  Can I create ONE Win 2016 (or 2012) Remote Desktop Server to service ALL COMPANY files (from a QB Server Manager perspective) AND multiple remote and concurrent RDS client sessions all on the same Terminal (RDS) server ?

If so, what limitations do you foresee ??

Thanks in advance

I have a customer that needs to use Quickbooks Enterprise for two different companues - one US and one Canadian.  This implies they need to use the two different Enterprise products - USA DESKTOP Enterprise for the US company and CDN DESKTOP Enterprise for the Canadian Company.

Question 1: Does anyone see a reason why the database for both companies can't be on the same server ?

Question 2: Does anyone see a reason why the client (Win 7 or Win 10) could not have both versions of clients loaded on the same PC ?

Thanks in advance,

I use QuickBooks for my business. I have a report in QB for my P&L that I can download into excel. In one column (Col A) I have the individual line items. These line items have a QB reference number (eg 4201) followed by a user field describing the line item. Col B is the value associated with the line item.
eg:
             Col A                         Col B
Row 1  4200 Food                0
Row 2  4201 Credit card     $10,000
Row 3  4202 Cash sales      $20,000
Row 4  Total 4200 Food      =B2+B3

Cell B4 has a formula in it.

I want to construct a spreadsheet where in the column A I can put the QB ref and in column B I can "lookup" the value associated with that line item eg:
             Col A       Col B
Row 1  4200       0
Row 2  4201      $10,000
Row 3  4202      $20,000

Where in B1 I pickup any number under "4200" but not the "Total 4200 ..." cell.

What formula do I need to put in Col B to extract the "correct" values pls?

Now imagine columns B, C, D, E ... all have different numbers in them corresponding to different dates. So in Col B I need a formula for line item "4200" that is NOT "4200 Total" and corresponds to the correct month.

Two problems have cropped up on every workstation that I've installed the tax1099.com QB plugin.  Every workstation is either running Premier or Enterprise, both are running the 2016 version.

1) Ability to access mapped drives vanishes.  Rebooting the computer sometimes once or twice seems to fix this problem, but after a couple of days, QB will stop seeing the mapped drives.  Uninstall the plugin, and the problem vanishes for good.  Re-install the plugin, the problem comes back right away.   If I'm working in an office with 5 computers, one or two may lose the ability to connect to the mapped drive while the rest are OK.  You can ALWAYS access the mapped drive via run, CLI, and My Computer.  The next day, it might be another computer that loses access.  It seems random when the problem crops up.

2) The next problem is that eventually, QB will stop running.  Event Viewer will show a 1000 error.  Running the QB repair tool works sometimes, uninstalling the plugin never helps, but occasionally I have to do a complete un/reinstall of the QB software, which includes reinstalling the Tax1099.com plugin, which brings back the problem I addressed in number one.

I have a customer that has dropped to 3 users from 10 users. They have fairly new Windows  7 PC's. They want to decommission their 2003 server and go to a simple workgroup.   The customer only does Quickbooks locally.

What is the best approach to this. Un-Join them from the domain and join workgroup? Could I lose data this way? Their My Docs is not redirected.

Hello all,
I have a client that install QB Pro 2016 on a Windows 10 tablet.  Everything works and looks great inside of all Quickbooks windows except for the top toolbar is extremely small and narrow.  I have no idea how to fix it.
Thanks,
Kelly W.

I'm trying to assist a client in exporting transactions (quotes, for example) from one QB file to another.  I realize that this is not supported in QB normally and that there are third-party applications to do it, but that's not what I'm looking for.

A few years back I found an undocumented method provided (not sure if it was on EE or elsewhere) by someone who claimed to have worked at Intuit that did the trick.  You had to type some very odd sequence of keys and eventually an additional menu items came up on the Export and Import menus that allowed just about anything to be exported or imported.  I believe that once you had enabled these new options, you didn't have to use the "magic key sequence" again.

I do recall that I tested it on some dummy files and it worked quite well.  Unfortunately, I seem to have lost track of the method.

Is anyone aware of this and can provide the details?

I need someone who can figure out how to delete a "condensed" Journal Entry in QB and provide a utility to do this.  If you do not know what this type of entry is, please do not respond.
Thanks,

Hello Experts,
I have a new client (two to three employees) who like to use QuickBooks remotely. I was thinking to built a windows 2012 server foundation and configure it in a workgroup environment, create shared folders and install printers to use it as a file server, Print server, in addition install Terminal services and install QuickBooks so these few users be able to remotely use QuickBooks at the same time.
Microsoft indicated " •      Remote Desktop Services: The Remote Desktop Session Host role may be installed on Foundation, but only in a workgroup configuration."
I am not sure why it says "May Be Installed". Does it mean it may not?
Can anyone advise please.
Thank you.

Last night I tried a condense on a customers QB Pro 2016 file because every year, they hit the limit on customers so we have to condense the file.  They don't want to spend the money to go to Enterprise which would alleviate this issue.  I thought we did all of the necessary backups, etc but it took over 6 hours and it seemed to lock up at 99% on Step 2 of 4 - I saw another inquiry on this from a while back but didn't have a lot of explanation to it.

I am trying to install the data manager for quickbooks 2016 on a network share. Quickbooks says it can be done but is not supported. I am hoping someone can give me some advise on how to move the DM.

Hi all,

I know this question has been asked before, but I'm hoping that with the more recent versions, this might be possible:

Both computers running QB Pro 2015. Same file name, same chart of accounts, etc., but each computer has been doing its own thing on its own data file.

Is there any way to merge data from one to the other? If not, is there an intermediary method (using Excel maybe)?

Thanks in advance.

Hey All,

I am experiencing an issue I have never seen. I have a quickbooks company file that will not open if I relocate it to directory with all the others so it resides inside a sub directory. it will open unless I rename the name of the folder it resides in.

Ex.
company.qbw resides in a folder named \data\company.qbw and opens fine.
company2.qbw resides in folder \data\temporary\company2.qbw and opens fine. unless I move it to \data\ or rename \data\temporary\

The quickbooks server is windows 2008 r2. 64-bit and the quickbooks version is enterprise 7.

It appears as some kind of permissions issue but I have tried everything, I was successful in moving company2.qbw file to data\
and opening it from the \data\ location however, when I delete the old location \data\temporary\ it no longer opens from \data\.

NOTE: the file opened just fine until I ran update on the server os because it had been over 2 years since security updates .

please help!
Thanks in advance

ErrorMessage:'SELECT returns more than one row' from file:'src\dmedlsqlcontacteditelement.cpp' at line 2686 from function:'DMEDLContactEditElement::LoadAdditional'

That error started about a month ago whenever we run balance sheet. We were able to figure out that it's an entry from 2008 in the amount of $20.74. Intuit techs say they need the file for 5 days to diagnose and maybe fix... we can't do that, way too long to be without QB.

I need to know:

Is it possible that this error will grow and corrupt the whole file? It doesn't bother us except when we run the balance sheet, no big deal.

If yes, then where do I find an onsite QB data repair tech?

On a Windows 7 SP1 Pro machine, I uninstalled .NET Framework 4.6.2. When I go to reinstall It goes through the install process to a point and then rolls back saying there is a Windows error. I have run the .NET fix tool, the .NET clean up tool and nothing seems to allow the reinstallation of the .NET framework 4.6.2. This component is needed to run QuickBooks on this PC. Would like to avoid reloading Windows over this if possible.

A client of mine uses QuickBooks Premier Edition of Manufacturing and Wholesale. It is Registered with 3 seats. Her last good backup of her Windows Server 2008 R2 was on Friday, October 28th at 11:30pm using Windows Server Backup. When she came into work on Monday, October 31st, all the files that were located in the shared S: drive on the server, which is where all the QB related files and work files are located were encrypted with systemdown@indial.com.xtbl. None of the files in the C: drive were encrypted. Even though the S: drive is just a mapping to a portion of the C: drive. Normally I would call this a RANSOMWARE virus. But we were able to use the server without problem. Office, Adobe, and Server all functioned normally as long as I did not try to access the encrypted files. Server Control Panel apps all worked and displayed information without a problem. The only PROBLEM  was that there was no RANSOMWARE NOTE! Telling me that my files were encrypted and to get them back, I had to pay a bitware ransom.
I was lucky to be able to copy all the encrypted files to an external hard drive and then restore the backup from October 26th to the original location. It worked fine. QB is able to lookup, process, print, etc, except of course there is no data from October 26 going forward which is ok. We did not want to take a chance of restoring encrypted files. The client was able to restore the 10 invoices missing without incident.
I know that the server and a few PCs ran …

I am currently studying a module on Software Project Management - and have this book as one of my main tools.
Books is very thorough and informative, however it is hard-copy. And this makes quick reference and searching very time-consuming.
Do any of you know if there is a link to a "searchable" download library version, online?

This would make things so much quicker, and allow me to focus on my studies.

Any assistance gratefully received.

I am using QODBCto connect Excel to Quickbooks. I have created an insert line that works correctly but I am unable to add a second line. From my reading of the  documentation, adding the value, "FQSaveToCache" as true (1)  should tell Quickbooks to continue the lines but I have not been successful (The multilines are for a purchase order)

Here is my original insert which successfully produces a single line:

sSQL = "INSERT INTO PurchaseOrderLine (PurchaseOrderLineDesc, PurchaseOrderLineQuantity, TemplateRefListId, VendorRefListId, FOB, CustomFieldOther1, VendorMsg,) VALUES ('" & PO_Description & "', " & PO_Qty & ", '" & PO_Template & "' , '" & PO_VendorListID & "', '" & PO_FOB & "', '" & PO_Buyer & "', '" & PO_VendorMessage & "' )"

Here is my attempt at 2 lines which fails:

sSQL = "INSERT INTO PurchaseOrderLine (PurchaseOrderLineDesc, PurchaseOrderLineQuantity, TemplateRefListId, VendorRefListId, FOB, CustomFieldOther1, VendorMsg, FQSaveToCache) VALUES ('" & PO_Description & "', " & PO_Qty & ", '" & PO_Template & "' , '" & PO_VendorListID & "', '" & PO_FOB & "', '" & PO_Buyer & "', '" & PO_VendorMessage & "', 1)"

sSQL = "INSERT INTO PurchaseOrderLine (PurchaseOrderLineDesc, PurchaseOrderLineQuantity, TemplateRefListId, VendorRefListId, FOB, CustomFieldOther1, VendorMsg, FQSaveToCache) VALUES ('" & PO_Description & "', " & PO_Qty & ", '" & PO_Template & "' , '" & PO_VendorListID & "', '" & PO_FOB & "', '" & PO_Buyer & "', '" & PO_VendorMessage & "', 0)"
