In the following environment
A Windows 7 ultimate machine
Staff log in to this machine from their workstation via Remote Desktop connection use the applications installed on this machine and save there all files.

What I want to accomplish
I am adding an outside assistance to do data entry in quickbooks but want he should “only” see the quickbooks program and file he will be working on no other programs/icons/ files (as in a server environment with sharing permissions) is there a way to accomplish this in this environment?
If not so restrict access would be the only option.  Is the only way to do it by restricting folder by folder that has documents in it (even so it's not secure against opening programs that save their data in the program folder) since restricting the C drive is not an option (maybe it is and then share the quickbooks program folder and file folder, don't think it will work)?

PS it's a accounting office so confidentiality is required.

I'm having a lot of problems with QB data files stored on Win Server 2012 and 2012 R2 across a variety of clients.

I constantly have to stop the DNS and Windows Firewall services, run the DB Server manager to scan the files, then start DNS and Firewall.  If I dont stop those services the scan fails saying the firewall is blocking the manager.

All proper ports are allowed through the firewall.

Really dont know what to do anymore.  Qb support is absolutely no help.

Hello,

I can successfully transfer data from Excel to Quickbooks (via QODBC) as long as my data types are strings as per this example:

sSQL = "INSERT INTO Customer (Name, ParentRefListId, AccountNumber) VALUES ('" & CustomerNameString & "', '" & ParentRefString & "', '" & JobNumberString & "')"

Or I can mix strings and physical numbers such as in this example:

sSQL = "INSERT INTO PurchaseOrderLine (PurchaseOrderLineDesc,  PurchaseOrderLineQuantity) VALUES ('" & PurchaseDescription & "', 12)"

However, assigning an integer variable to replace the physical number using this technique doesn't work; my variable is interpreted as a column header:

Dim PurchaseDescription as String
Dim PurchaseQty as Integer

sSQL = "INSERT INTO PurchaseOrderLine (PurchaseOrderLineDesc,  PurchaseOrderLineQuantity) VALUES ('" & PurchaseDescription & "', PurchaseQty)"

This is the error I get:

Variable interpreted as column header
If I try enclosing my integer variable in single or double quotation marks, I get a data mismatch error

sSQL = "INSERT INTO PurchaseOrderLine (PurchaseOrderLineDesc,  PurchaseOrderLineQuantity) VALUES ('" & PurchaseDescription & "', 'PurchaseQty')"

Data Mismatch

I have been at this hours and hours and I'm really frustrated. I'm sure my syntax is the issue. Is there anyone familiar with how to mix strings and integers in this type of a statement? Thank you so much for any help.

Hello,

Does anyone have working knowledge of setting up Quickbooks in a domain/network environment, where the users that have access to the QB share still cannot copy or delete the QBW file?

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/834011-how-to-prevent-users-from-deleting-company-file-in-quickbooks-enterprise , the only solution is really a non-solution: "So basically the answer is you cannot prevent someone from being able to delete the company file as it is required that everyone have read/write and delete permissions.  The only way to protect the file is to make sure someone is logged into the Quickbooks accessing that company file all the times.  The file cannot be deleted if it is open or in use.  In fact the only recommendation support could give me was to make sure I do regular backups."

Thanks!

We are getting a message that we cannot file State/Federal taxes from an user account that has total access.  It says that we have to be signed in as the administrator  or an external account.

Is that correct or is there some permission I can give the person to allow them to file the taxes from their account

If I export data to excel and I have a deposit that had multiple entries. The deposit shows "split" on the Excel sheet.
This causes a huge amount of work associating the "split" to the correct ledger numbers.
I want the corresponding entries to export together. Or is there another way to get at the data?

I already have Windows SERVER 2012 R2
on a 2012 domain and need to install QuickBooks
2016 Enterprise as a RemoteApp so remote users
have better performance

QuickBooks stated that they support RemoteApp
on their Enterprise edition, but do not have a
step-by-step on how to setup RemoteApp

Does anyone have a good step-by-step on how to setup
RemoteApp for all types of software, not just QuickBooks ?

Below are some links I found, but would like your suggestions

I have recently implemented SRP (Software Restriction Policies) on our Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server.  I was able to get all other programs to function properly on the server besides Quickbooks. When SRP is enabled Quickbooks will work for most of the day but eventually freezes when trying to log into our company file located on a network share. If i disable SRP the issue is resolved but it is a must I get these two working properly together. I have made sure to add the exceptions in SRP to allow Quickbooks to run unrestricted including paths for the network share, Local program data and files, and Registry entries. I do receive an error in the application log while this error occurs. The error message is pasted below but this error shows up in the application log at other times when quickbooks is operating normally and SRP is not enabled. This is the only error message that appears in the application log when quickbooks experiences this error while SRP is enabled. I am not sure what my next step is to get this solved so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello all,
Here is the setup and the issue:
I have a client that has a WIndows 7 Pro computer with 4 gig RAM and an SSD hard drive.
When Quickbooks 2014 was double clicked on it would take only 1 minute for it to completely open the company file.
For some reason suddenly Quickbooks was taking 20 minutes to open (the company file is only 24 meg large).
I found that there was an issue with the svchost.exe (netsvcs) that was pegging over 1.5 gig of memory and I fixed that over this past weekend.  Know this process only takes up 25 meg of memory.
I uninstalled and then reinstalled Quickbooks 2014.
Now it takes six minutes to open up the company file.
Not sure what to do next.
With an SSD it should not be this slow and no other programs (such as Lacerte) take this long to open.  They are all fast.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly W.

When I create an invoice for Customer A, because his Preferred Delivery Method is Email, it automatically ticks the Email Later checkbox on the invoice. (At least I think that's the reason.) But I have a Memorized invoice for him, that recurs annually. When that kicks off, the invoice goes in, but the Email Later checkbox does NOT get ticked. The result is that, unless I remember it, his invoices don't get emailed to him, the way that most others do.

Why, and what do I do to fix it?

2 people work in Quickbooks 2015 in multi user mode, when 1 of them needs to use the payroll feature the other person has to get out of quickbooks.

From what I have read we should be able to be in multi user mode and have a single person be in payroll, correct?

Any suggestions?

I am using Quickbooks Enterprise 16,  I am using the Custom Transaction Detail Report.
I need to export this to Excel.
When I click on Excel to Create New Worksheet, I notice some of the records replicate.  This also appears in the new Excel file.
I have had this problem years ago, but don't recall how I fixed it.
I am exporting to Excel 2013.
I have tried exporting to CVS.  Same problem.
How do I overcome this problem?
Thank you.

Environment:
Box #1
HV1: 2012 R2 hyper-V host
SVR1: hyper-V VM running 2012 R2 is the main server. It's used for file and print and Quickbooks and Lacerte (accounting firm)
SVR1 is replicated to REP1
SVR1 is also continuously backed up to REP1 using ShadowProtect Server

Box #2
REP1: 2012 R2
REP1 replicated to an offsite server for DR purposes
REP1 receives the backups from SVR1 then FTPs them to the same offsite server for DR and ransomeware protections purposes

Problem: Need to be able to allow offsite Win7 and Win10 usage (2-3 users) of QB and Lacerte.

Tried an SSL VPN. Aside from the fact it's not supported, QB couldn't open company files on the server, although full file access through Windows Explorer was fine.

So...RDS seems to be the solution, although I've never used it.
Plenty of RDS installation/configuration info on the web, so that should be a snap.
QB Enterprise is supported with RDS, but client will use QB Pro. I suspect this will not really be a problem.

Where I'm fuzzy...
Ideally I'd think RDS should be installed on REP1 because it's a very low utilization server, however from reading, I get the impression QB Server Manager should be installed on the same server as RDS. Currently QB Server Manager is installed on SVR1 where all the QB files live, and that's not gonna change.

Am I barking up the wrong tree? Do we need an RDS server?

Would appreciate all suggestions.

Thanks
Mark

When you try to open a new company in QB, the patch is default to C:
Our files are in the network. How do we make that path to stay as a default location, every time we exit out and open the program

Anyone know where i can download quickbooks version 5?

I am looking for websites that will allow me to enter my current and projected 2016 earnings (including all taxes and other withholdings) so that I can get a good idea of how much I will owe for my 2016 federal (and if possible) California income taxes.

What websites will allow me to do this?

We have a client who has been running fine on a Quickbooks upgrade that we did a few months ago.  They have a 2008 Citrix server, a 2008 application server with the current version of XenApp.

Yesterday (there was patching the day before which may or many not relate), they complained that it is running at a snails pace.  We increased the paging file and they said it was faster.  Then about mid-day, they complained of freezing and also that they keep getting a message that they need to update but it won't let them.

We are opening a ticket with Intuit but thought one of you may have an answer.  One of the 5-users upgraded his computer to Windows 10 last Friday before all of the this started.

Thanks

Hi, We have a few hundred transactions/invoices, etc that need to be deleted from quickbooks 2016.

There are some utilities out there that allow batch deletions but am having trouble finding one that works properly.

anyone have experience with this? or knows of the software that would allow us to delete multiple unwanted transactions.

Hi Experts,

I have had this the last 4 years or possibly more and I have been able to resolve with and without Quickbooks (now Reckon) support...

With the firewall on logon times are around a minute... with the firewall off under 10 seconds!!

In most cases it has been the firewall ports not quite correct or last year it was due to QBUser24 not given permission on the database folder of Quickbooks has anyone struck this for 2016 version QBUser25 which is for (2016 version).

QB Version Accounts 2016 (same for both clients)
Server 2008R2 the other client Server2012

As I spent 2 hours on the phone with support but got no where and they are out of ideas any input would be greatly appreciated as I have two clients I need to resolve for thanks in advance...
