I have quickbooks running on a server and I need it to auto close at midnight so that the backup can occur and not corrupt the company files. Is there a way without to do this easily or to send a command to the application nightly to shutdown?

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone has run across this and can help me. If so, it would be most appreciated.

Short version of my question:
  • How do I convert QB POS 3.x data to QB POS 2013?
  • I have exhausted everything I know to do.
  • Below is a detailed list of things I have looked at and have done.

Issue:
After doing an end of month on June 31st, QB POS v3.x stopped being able to accept sales input for item numbers, descriptive names and/or bar code scans for a new client of mine.

Interesting thing is it will work in practice mode AND will work if we role the date back to the day before. Apparently it's a crappy, builtin little present from Quick Books for it's paying customers.

Action:
Upgraded POS to latest version through internet updates with no effects. (You cannot d/l the file and manually run the update because QB has taken that file offline. I had to take the computers offsite to do the QB POS internet updates.) QB Support NO help at all. They said to upgrade to latest version. I called my QB Advisor and had her double check with her resources and she got the same feedback. Upgrading has not been an issue for the client because they don't even have internet hooked up to the computers at all, don't even have it in the store and don't plan on getting it. They do their cc processing through the external terminals.

Another client had stopped using QB POS altogether and went to a …

Why does Quickbooks the qbw file location under public?  Also,  I got prompted if I was a server from quickbooks troubleshooting diagnostics.  Is the computer hosting the file but also reading from it always considered the server?

I am running a report from Quick Books, called Open Invoices.

I want to customize the report so I can see invoice detail by line item with a description of work performed by line item. This is a service business.

I cannot find any field that it lets me add to customize that has that info.

Is there a way to find that & add to the report or is there another report that has that detail?

Thanks

Does Quick Books have the capability to schedule a report to run at a specified time & output the results to Excel?

Maybe a "command line" kind of thing from a Windows Scheduled task?

This is QB on a local server, NOT in the cloud.

Thanks

My hard drive crashed and I am in the process of setting up a new HDD in my conputer. I have installed and activated Windows 7 Pro and have installed over 230 updates. In Programs and Features I see .net framework .6.1 installed. When I try to reinstall Quickbooks 2014 I get error code 1395 aying that .net framework needs to be installed.  I have checked and double checked and run Windows Update and I see it listed in the list of programs. I need to get this installed so I can get my business data restored and updated. Please advise.

Thank you.

I have a windows 7 machine, DELL Optiplex 990, running quickbooks 2011.  All of a sudden, we are getting interactive services detection windows popping up on us.

the message title is : windows service start failure

the program path is : \program files\common files\intuit\dataprotect\qbidpservice.exe

it also says that "this problem occurs when a program is not fully compatible with windows.  please contact the program or device manufacturer for more information."

I was thinking to either remove the quickbooks data protect, from the startup folder in windows, since we are not using the data protect service for intuit.

Or, I was thinking to disable interactive services detection.

Not sure which is the best way to go, or if there is another option.  Please let me know.

I have twice before posted similar questions on EE.

I am trying to extract data from a Quick Books database using QODBC. I have confirmed that QODBC is installed and on the server.

I was under the impression I could extract the data through Excel. I open get data from other sources (see attached). There is nothing there about QODBC.

Do I have to "start" QODBC on the server? I am accessing it remotely via Gotomypc. How do I start it on the server, I believe the server is running Windows 12.

Thanks

New to QB... I entered several hundred entries as  checkbook entries, instead of credit card entries  ;-(

Is there a relatively easy way to change these to credit card entries? (Or do I need to just delete and re-enter them?)

Also,  these purchases contain inventory information, or categorization info (i.e. that whether its COGS, R & D, etc.)

Thanks so much for any feedback. I REALLY appreciate it. ;-)

Note that this is Enterprise, not Pro.

I have had a memorized invoice set up for many years.  I actually created it in Quickbooks Pro 99.  Through the years it has faithfully asked if I want to generate it.  Well, that particular job vanished, so I tried to delete the memorized invoice, but it looks as if it doesn't even exist.  I looked in Lists, Memorized transactions List and it's empty.  Am I just looking in the wrong place, or did it not "migrate" correctly through upgrades?  How else can I delete it?

Where's the setting that marks invoices that are emailed as printed so that when I go to File, Print forms, invoices, the invoices I already emailed are not in the list to print?

Note this is not a Quickbooks 2014 question - it's Enterprise 14, although the setting may be in the same place.

The issue is the auto-filled company EIN on Liability checks like the federal form 941. I checked the Company info (Company -- My Company) and the EIN is correct. So the liability check auto-fill must be grabbing it from somewhere else. Thank you for any assistance.  --  Joe

Issue #1:
When exporting a report via Quickbooks to Excel, the only option available is to export to a .csv file. All other options, including options under "Advanced.." are greyed out and disabled. Exporting to new a .csv worksheet works correctly, but we are unable to update existing worksheets because we cannot select the option to do so. Why would these options be unavailable?

Issue #2:
When attempting to "Send Report as Excel" under "Email", the following error is displayed:

The steps we have done are:

1.) Removed Office Suite, rebooted PC. Re-installed Office 2016.
2.) Repaired QuickBooks.
3.) Downgraded Microsoft Office 2016 to the supported Office 2013.
4.) Removed QuickBooks, rebooted PC. Re-installed QuickBooks.

This is running on Windows 7 64bit, Quickbooks Premier 2013, and Office 2013 64bit.

Thanks, I appreciate any assistance/insight on this issue.

A user with a Windows 7 64-bit OS computer has reported an issue where QuickBooks continues to run in the background on a computer even after the program has been completely exited out of.

As a result he has to go into the Windows tax manager's processes tab and manually end all of the running QBW32.exe processes (see the screenshot).

We would like to make it so that QuickBooks won't remain running in the background once it is closed to prevent issues like this.

What can we do to resolve this issue?

I want to export information from specific tables in Quick Books to Microsoft Excel using MS Query.

Specifically, I want to pick up invoice info for all invoices issued in the last year. So, for example, if it was today, all invoices AFTER April 5, 2015.

MS Query offers the ability to do select records based on date criteria. But I don;t know the format they are stored in Quick Books in, so I don't know how to construct the query condition. On a prior EE question, someone suggested using #mm/dd/yyyy# (I think that is the MS Access convention. I also tried the MySQL date format "yyyy-mm-dd".

Neither worked.

Can someone provide the way to set the limit so MS Query gets it AND picks the right range from Quick Books?

Thanks

I have a client who is using QuickBooks 2014 in multi-user mode, with four concurrent users. When one specific user clicks on the Customer tab from the Home page, they receive a dialogue box that says: Working - Searching the List and it can take up to five minutes to complete, they then receive a second box with the same Working - Searching the List and it can take up to three minutes to complete. Eventually the customer list populates. Any idea what could be causing this?

Hello, I would like to setup Quickbooks so the company file is on a server share,  where two computers running QB can access it. There will not be two users or two accounts and there will not be concurrent sessions. Just the ability to open the file from two systems by the same user. The user will open the QB file and work from one system most of the time. However, once in a while they will need to use the other system.

In this setup can I just store the company file on a share, then direct  QB on the two computers being used to load it from that location? I don't need to setup Multi-User mode or do anything else correct?

I had this question after viewing .QBW.ND & .QBW.TLG files.

Thanks.

Hello all,
Here is the setup for a client of mine.
Two servers.  One is a domain controller and has Windows 2012 R2 on it.  All the data (Quickbooks included) resides on this server.  This server is also running the database manager for the Quickbooks databases.  The second server is not a domain controller.  Just a Windows 2012 R2 server with RDP/terminal services on it.  This server has 16 gig RAM and a 3.5 i7 Ghz processor in it.
We have two people who uses this remote server.  The only things they get into is Excel 2013 and Quickbooks Enterprise 16.
This is happening to both users but so far I am only testing one user.
This user is the only one on the RDP server and when she is in both Quickbooks and Excl 2013 then Excel gets extremely slow, times out and then she gets errors that that the remote connection has dropped.
Here is what I have done so far:
1)  On the RDP server I have unselected Network Level Authentication.
2)  Under the user's Excel I disabled hardware graphics acceleration
3)  Under the user's Excel I disabled Automatically Flash Fill
4)  Under the user's Excl I disabled AutoComplete for cell values
I have no idea what else to do.  I have a suspicion that Quickbooks is a major player in this issue but I have no idea what to do in Quickbooks to have it run correctly in an RDP session.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly W

Version: Inuit QB Enterprise Solutions Manufacturing & Wholesale  13.0

A client of mine sells inventory by the bottle and also by the case and is having an issue with inventory management. Can you give me some suggestions on how to set this up to allow for both UOM without having to create separate item numbers?

Thanks in advance.

I'm using QuickBooks Pro 2016.  I'm trying to record the activity from our property manager, who is withholding the cost of repairs and maintenance to the building from the rent.  My issue is that when I receive the rent (let's say is $3,000), they withhold the cost of the repairs made that month (let's say $1,000).  So the payment received is $2,000.

The invoice for the rent is $3,000 and I only received $2,000.  I also need to mark the bill for the repairs as paid.

If I use two entries, a rent payment received of $3,000 and a bill pay sent of $1,000, the outcome is what I need, but then the deposit won't match during reconciliation, nor will we have a payment of $1,000 clearing the bank account.

Any thoughts on how to record this transaction?

Hi Experts, please can anyone help me with the following.

I have just installed Quickbooks Pro 2016 and am setting up my invoice and estimate prints.  I want to make the background of column headers clear so that when it prints out all the background is white - currently the column headers always print out with a grey background even though when I am in layout designer the background is clear. Somehow I did manage to get the background clear on one invoice, but, I cannot seem to replicate that on any other invoice or estimate design.

help with this is greatly appreciated.
