I'm installing a new server (Win Server 2016 Std.)  and considering installing a Hyper-V machine as a Remote Desktop Server to host Quickbooks Enterprise 2018.  
I've called Intuit support to see if they have installation and configuration suggestions or documentation and found them to be be (predictably) unhelpful.  They claim that they no longer support Remote Desktop deployments for QB Enterprise and suggest signing up for their hosted service (which sounds remarkably like Remote Desktop!).
I don't want to waste company time and money on server setup and CALs only to find that it doesn't work.
Any current users/admins out there with recent experience that can comment, advise, endorse or dissuade on this topic?

As of Quickbooks 2017 R5 and Quickbooks 2018 I am getting a licensing issue in XenDesktop

Citrix says its a 3rd party application issue
Quickbooks says they don't support Citrix

We have been using Quickbooks in XenDesktop for years just recently having issues.

what i have figured out so far
installing all additional packageds with the quickbooks 2018 installation doesn't affect the licensing service.

once quickbooks is installed

A netstat will show the following missing

picaSvc2.exe  1494
picaSvc2.exe 2598

Event viewer doesn't show any errors

citrix event viewer shows license not available when users attempt to login
if you use rdp instead of citrix your able to function fine.
I have read on the http://ficoscore.com/education/ website that "Between all three bureaus, there are 19 FICO® Scores that are most commonly used by lenders. Are there any websites I can visit that will provide me with all of my current 19 FICO® Scores?

The websites I currently visit like Bofa.com, discover.com, and the credit bureau websites provide only one version of the Fico credit scores and I'm interested in seeing what my current 19 FICO® credit scores are.

What websites or services will allow me to do this?

I am able to download transactions from our bank into a Quickbook file or a Quicken file (not CSV nor Excel).  I do not have either of the Quickbooks or Quicken software.  Is there any good way to import either type of file into Excel?

About 18 months ago I researched the difference between the online version and the desktop versions of QuickBooks.

It became apparent that the online version is a very scaled down subset of the desktop product,

I have a customer who has a really old version of QB , I think 2006, he is buying a new Laptop, latest version of MS Office, etc,  I thought that the online version might suit him as he spends a lot of time out off the office as he is a small builder. He spends a day in the office per week, the rest of the time he is on site managing small construction jobs, it might be useful for him to be able to access his QB quotes, ices, etc. Or to generate invoices while off site.

Nore, he is based in Ireland, and ideally the Onlive version would work for local taxes (Revenue, VAT, etc.)

When creating a "Summarize Payroll Data" report from Quickbooks to Excel, the "State Wage Listing" tab defaults to the wrong "Tax Tracking" filter.

It used to default to "SUI Company", but now defaults to "Medicare Additional Tax", and the desired outcome is that it defaults to "SUI Company" again. Office 2016 is used.

Intuit support provided varying feedback. One technician we spoke to seemed to know the issue and indicated a Microsoft Update might be responsible, other technicians weren't sure, or suggested we submit a feature request to the development team.

Has anyone come across this before, and found a solution?

I service a company that uses Quickbooks Enterprise 17 Wholesale & Manufacturing for everything. Starting in April they started having issues with their standard balance sheet report being out of balance. The detailed shows in balance when you run it though. I can repair and rebuild the file and it finds the same issues every night and fixes them in the rebuild. The balance sheet starts out fine in the morning but when they start doing invoices and inventory and such, it goes out of balance. It is never out of balance with the same amount. One day it could be $2000 and another day it could be $10k. I have ran the QuickBooks file doctor and it finds no issues with the file. I even force the data sync fix and it says the file is fine. All machines are new and running SSD's. There is no network latency from the workstations to the QuickBooks server. I even dedicated a windows 2012 server to being the QuickBooks server and it still did the same thing. The QuickBooks files are on a separate SSD drive and that's the only thing it has on it. They are running the latest version of QuickBooks Enterprise 17. I am at a loss.

I have a user that occasionally uses Quickbooks hosted on another PC. When trying to open the company file it wants to do an update but gets stuck between 10 & 15%. I have performed a manual update, but am having the same problem when trying to open the file.

I have a 2012 Standard r2 Server that i have installed Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions 17.0. After the installation i can not get the QuickbooksDB27 Service to start. I have uninstalled reinstalled many times. QB 2014 worked fine. When i first try to start the service i get an error that the user login failed so i reset the password for the .\QBDataServiceUser27 user and then try to restart then i get Windows could not start the QuickbooksDB27 service on the Local Computer. Error 1053: The Service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I adjusted the Time out in the registry for a longer time and same thing. I have spoken to Intuit and that is just a waste of air. This is a single server running as a guest on a 2012 r2 Std Hyper V. It has roles of DC, AD, File, RDS,

Any one have any suggestions.
I have several small clients that would like to purchase a file server. I had considered spinning up a couple of vm's at my office and hosting it for them, but Im not sure how I should do it. All they want is a "Company drive", they dont wish to be joined to a domain. Its primarily for files, but it could host a quickbooks db. Any suggestions?

I need to customize a report that shows which Invoices paid which Purchase Orders in QB's 2017. I can't get one to show both Invoice Number and PO Number at the same time.

I've looked to Del for a non-server solution that will work for them. They couldn't come up with a solution using Azure. I looked at OneDrive for Business  and I think it has a file locking if 2 people work on the same file. Plus not sure how Quickbooks will work when it's in the cloud.

I am in the process of writing some integration processes between a Wordpress site and Quickbooks.

I need to know where I can get documentation on how Quickbooks imports data - data formats, API's etc - anything I need to automate the import of data.
I am able to import a bill successfully, the issue I am having is the RefNo which is the invoice number does not show up. I used different variations for the heading such as TRNSrefno, RefNo, RefNu so far its still showing blank. another issue is that the vendor address doesnt show up, its not a new vendor. Do I have to have the address in the iif file?
I am new to QODBC but not SQL.  I am trying to eliminate manual data entry for a special project for my company.

On every invoice in our system, or each "Item" on each invoice, there is text field called "Description".  I need to replace the text that is currently in the "Description" field with the text "service".  See attachment for an example.

I want to update every invoice in our quickbooks database like this.  We need todo this, because we have private information in that text field, and I need to provide a copy of my quickbooks database to a 3rd party.

What would be the QODBC code to accomplish this?  I am open to another method (besides QODBC).  I just need to get this done ASAP.  I have also posted a freelance job post on upwork to see if I can pay someone to code this for me.

We have approximately 105 employees we send pay stubs to bi-weekly.  When sending the pay stubs to everyone the application times out on a random person.  The report is started again from where we left off, sometimes it will finish and sometimes it times out again on another random person.  The person that it times out on never receives their pay stub.  Is there a setting or something we are missing that will eliminate the timeout.
In a retirement enclave we want to provide service for tenants to pay one invoice per month that contains rent and then all utilities as line items.  we're kinda using Customers section in a non-stand way entering properties as customers.   I am thinking a work-around would be to enter all phone#s as line item with number in comments.
Looking for a solution (cheap) to count inventory the fastest way possible.  Currently we have no scan guns or wifi in the warehouse.  We house at least 100,000 items.  What I would like is a scan gun that I can load an excel worksheet that has columns for our Item# (Barcode data), Description, Qty and fill ins for bin locations so pickers can scan what's there and it will save to the spreadsheet in the gun.  Added feature would be a fill in line for bin location so future picking would be easier for our pickers.

I can then download the spreadsheet and reconcile with our QB inventory.

Any advice Experts?

I have a customer on Quickbooks Enterprise16 and their company file is just over 1GB. They have some performance issues and there is only so much tweaking I can do on their network to increase the speed. Wondering what options I have. I looked at the 'Condense data' option, but they didn't like some entries going from detailed to a single entry. Figured the next step would be to have a new company file. Is there a way to create a new company file with say all data from the last 2 years?

Or maybe there is another approach? I'm a networking person by trade who knows enough to get Quickbooks networked and functional!
Our office has QuickBooks 2011. We have recently started testing with the Thunderbird email client. The email configuration for QB give choices of Web Mail and QuickBooks E-mail. Our mail server is a self-hosted IMAP server, so I've picked Web Mail (even though it's not really webmail). I've selected "Others" as email provider (choices are Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) and put in the correct server name and port. See image, "Edit Email Info".

When I try to send a form, it prompts me for the password, repeatedly, but fails to send the message  (see image dialog marked "Email or Password is Incorrect"). On the mail server side I eventually (several seconds) get the message:

Feb  5 12:45:22 mail sm-mta[1982]: u15HhrrI001982: COMMON.hprs.local [] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I have a client that is having real trouble with QuickBooks, running very slow at times, but not all the time... intermittent internet issues, with the spinning wheel of windows death...

We were having major issues with slowness, because one workstation, that a person worked on, was the main file for QuickBooks, so we MOVED the main file for QuickBooks to a brand new Dedicated Workstation, no one uses it.  They are sharing the file with 2 or 3 users, we have licensing for all.

We replaced the switch, which was old, put in Wireless Linksys SE3008 & put in Wireless Linksys EA3500, we are using wireless & I have many times before used QuickBooks over wireless with NO trouble... QuickBooks is telling us we need to hard wire, which is really NOT a viable option.

As for internet it goes down intermittent where the wheel just spins & they have to wait & wait for web pages to come up... not necessarily at the same time as QuickBooks issues.

QuickBooks will shut them down intermittently, disconnect them & shut down.

NOT really sure what to check for this intermittent issue internally on the network?  Is there a tool I can run that will show traffic or something that would be causing these issues??

I'm trying to build a spreadsheet to import customers from another application. I have QB2011. When editing addresses, the screen shows City, state,zip. Bbut when constructing the import using column specifications found here: http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/pages/inproducthelp/core/qb2k12/contentpackage/thirdparty/excel/info_customer_required_fields.html?family=pro it doesn't list those as defined fields. It shows BILLING ADDRESS 1 - BILLING ADDRESS 5, and likewise for SHIPPING. Do ADDRESS 3, 4 and 5 correspond to city, state ZIP? Am I looking at the wrong web page for definitions? How to I set up a spreadsheet to import these fields?
Question: Whenever any of the Accounting employees (total of 3 including me) has worked with QuickBooks during the day, they are not able to log off of our computers at the end of the day because QuickBooks files are in use.

Now there is some tips online on the subject including using the QuickBooks as Muti-user, but the problem is it was working before as it was.

Sure we update to a newer version?
