I have already moved exchange off the sbs 2003 server, so now i need to upgrade/migrate from sbs2003 to server 2012 r2. on the same hardware. is there a migration plan i can follow?

So I have a user who had office 2003 in SBS 2008 environment . They were having problems with opening some Excel files because of the version . So we bought Office home and Business 2016 .. Once installed it solved the excel issue but now the outlook wont work with the Exchange server on SBS 2008 . I have both copied of office on the client .But Office has updated the mail profile so that I cant use Outlook 2003 anymore either .
How do i downgrade the mail profile (control panel -Mail ) so that I may use outlook 2003 again ?
I have recently installed a SANS/UCC certificate to replace a single domain one but I cannot connect to OWA, ECP etc. using the new SSL.

 Externally, if I connect to https://oldSSL.domain,com/owa I get a security warning as it is looking for the new SSL, but I can continue and open emails.

 If I type https://newSSL.domain,com/owa I get a page "cannot be displayed" message.

I did all this within EAC and did not go near IIS, following the Godaddy instructions to the letter, I followed the instructions to the letter albeit for Exchange 2013 rather than 2016 and In the new certificate services I selected SMTP, IMAP. POP and IIS.  What have I missed?
We have IIS 7.5 on Windows 2012 VM Server and it will not Authenticate with SBS 2011 IIS 7, any assistance is greatly appreciated.
We have a Web Portal and PSA Integration on ("ConnectWise" Software Application) that will not connect from the Outside after extensive Testing, you can ping it in the Firewall, and we can get to the Web Portal Internally but cannot get it to connect Externally.
The portal uses Port 80 and 443.

We have been having problems with ActiveSync connectivity on an SBS 2011 server for the past few days.

We discovered a exchange certificate as expired so we created a new exchange certificate with the server's own CA.  The certificate in question expired 6 months ago.

Get-ExchangeCertificate | Select CertificateDomains,Thumbprint,Status,Services | fl shows all certificates as valid now - ATTACHED

Running Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyser - Activesync test - ATTACHED

We have restarted all Exchange Services & WWW Service a couple times

We have performed Fix My Network - No errors except for one saying there is no primary adapter but we have two adapters bridged so I'm ignoring that one for now.

Looking for a way to get ActiveSync operating again with our - without opening port 80.

Can confirm port 443 is open and the default website is bound to the 3rd Party Certificate (Valid for another year)

It is difficult to restart this server until afterhours.

Someone must have done this before or something similar?

i have exchange server 2010 running on SBS 2011

i also run several Cpanel servers

i have good spam and virus filtering setup on my cpanel servers.

what i want to do if possible is have all incoming mail for the exchange server routed through the cpanel server then to the exchange server - hense filtering out the spam and viruses.

is this possible, if so how would i set this up i have full root access to all servers

this installation is SBS2011 - one box only.
There are some senders who's mail needs to pass through a certain smarthost.  All the rest needs to pass through another.
How do I do this?

I did some research on disabling the ciphers from one of the Microsoft websites.

The RC4 cipher can be completely disabled on Windows platforms by setting the "Enabled" (REG_DWORD) entry to value 00000000 in the following registry locations:

Trying to share my calendar with another user with outlook 2013. It is fully patched and the exchange server 2010 is on the latest roll up.

I can share the publishing editor permission level in which the user is able to see/add/edit my calendar items.  However I would prefer instead of FULL Read permissions, to have the Free/Busy Time, subject, location radio button.  If I choose this, the user is no longer able to add to my calendar.  Is there any way to allow them only the ability to add to my calendar, but hide the details of existing items that I may have placed?

Hello, all,

I am running SBS 2008 and have been using the integrated backup software without incident for the life of the server.  At one point the backups were failing, which, after research, led me to notice that they had one failed RAID drive, and another in predicted fail.  Replaced both drives (one by one) without incident and am now showing a healthy array.

RAID-5 array with three (3) physical disks
No other RAID arrays on the system

However, backups still continue to fail with the dreaded "incorrect function" error message.  They always fail at exactly the same spot on the c: drive, 49.31 MB into the backup, and the entire backup aborts.  Reviewing the application log doesn't yield anything helpful, but reviewing the system log shows an error message the recurs every few hours about a punctured RAID array, and specifically calls out physical disk 1.  Strangely, physical disk 1 is the only disk of the three that I DID NOT replace.  However, I know bad parity can copy from one disk to another in a double-fault situation.

I am aware that the only way to truly repair a punctured RAID is to completely reinitialize the RAID array and start from scratch.  However, the puncture is not affecting anything on the server, and it's running fine since I replaced the disks.  Reformatting would be an insurmountable task at this point, and is not an option, nor is it necessary as the server is running fine.

So my question is this:

Our Remote Web Access takes almost 2 minutes to log into. After you are it things work just fine
this is on a SBS2011 dual CPL with 32GB ram and 10k RPM drives. the server runs great and users on the LAN do not complain on the file sharing speed. but when you try to log in remotely the log in can take 2 minutes. they have a dedicated 6MB connection
I can go to other companies with a lot less brandwidth and their SBS2011 RWA takes 2-5 seconds to log in.

I have install windows updates and also uninstalled and reinstalled the Active Directory Certificate service and the web enrollment  

still no joy
all the cert*.asp files are in the c:\widows\system32\Certsrv\en-us folder, I have tried putting en-us on to the end with no success

I have 3 servers in the office, one is a 2008 Small Business Server, one is a 2008 R2 server with SQL Server 2008 R2 and one is a Server 2012 R2.
I know we need some extra 2008 Small Business Server user cals but I am a bit confused about the other licensing requirements.
When we bought the server with SQL we bought 10 cals for the server and 10 cals for SQL, if we say have an additional 10 users since then do we need to purchase another 10 SQL licenses and 10 server licenses (in addition to the extra Small Business licences I know we need).
Also, for the new 2012 server which will be hosting a bespoke software application, do we need cals for this server as well?

Performed a  DSRM restore which seemed to went fine. Client computers can't login to domain now.

At the SBS box there is no "domain" folder under C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol
No Netlogon share but i think it is typical with SBS 2011 Essentials
I don't think that regedit "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters\Backup/Restore\Process at Startup" will work since this is the only DC beeing a SBS server.

The users, computer and many other objects shows up as expected. This server may have been migrated from previous one.

A customer of mine has had their main server files share files encrypted by .locky ransomware.

What are the best ways of removing and cleaning this virus from the server?

Are there any ways of decrypting the files that the .locky ransomware has already encrypted?

Here is a scenario I've not seen.  I have a client with three separate companies.  One is running SBS 2011 another is running SBS 2003 and the third is running Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2007. I plan to set them up on a new Windows Server 2012 R2 network with Exchange 2013 or 2016 which will host all three e-mail domains.

My question is has anyone ever performed three separate migrations to a single new domain?

I would think that I should start with the SBS 2011 migration as it is the most current.  Do I use ADMT? and then migrate the Exchange afterwards?  What would I do with the other two networks with respect to migration?

I'm trying to migrate the exchange I've brought an SSL cert as I understand 365 migrations won't support self signed certs.
Applied to the SBS 2003 Server etc all fine however I can't get it work still.

Should it matter the cert has just so for example CN = and not something like

I can get to the externally fine etc.

Is there something extra in SBS exchange 2003 I could be missing otherwise in order to get this to work?

I have an environment that is using SBS2011 which is federated with Office 365 using DirSync.  I need to replace the Windows Server 2008 R2 DC with a new Windows Server 2012 R2 DC with Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5 installed to manage the hybrid O365 setup.  What do I need to consider for the Federation Gateway before the old DC is decommissioned at the conclusion of this migration?  Do I still need to use DirSync or will I be using Azure AD?

Wow. How could this possibly be so hard? I google it and about the only suggestion is to set permissions using  Outlook. I am remote. I have remote access to the server. Not Outlook. How can you set permissions on Public Folders from the server and within EMC?
My customer has a SBS 2008 Server and usually sets up Outlook (on home computers) to access it. What is the the phrase HTTP over RPC? One of their people just went to Office 2016 and the Exchange option is no longer there.

   From what I read two things are necessary to Connect Office 2016 to and Exchange Account. 1) Autodiscover must be set up (not sure if it is) and 2) Outlook 2016 will not work with Exchange Server 2007.

So before I look like a total jerk and tell them it can't be done can someone confirm this?
I want to install openmanage on a dell poweredge running win sbs 2011.  Is this the right page?  and then choose the x64 version?

There's different versions of openmanage - the agent for a server, then the admin software if you have more than 1 server?

As this page mentions, I just want a 1 to 1 relationship between server and admin panel.
After a rare reboot of an sbs 2011 standard server, in outlook, users were getting a message that the (self signed) ceritificate expired. It had expired the day before.

I ran the fix my network wizard, it found that the cert was expired and I had it fix that.

Now the security certificate error box pops up saying the security ceritificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust.

We view the certifcate, install the cert and still get the error.

ANd I'd like not to have to do something on each PC about this - 'it was working before'
