Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of web content in search engines using an understanding of search engines' processes and algorithms. Also known as "natural" or "organic" search, it is distinct from paid web advertising. Performance is typically measured by testing the appearance of a website for targeted search terms, and more specifically, ranked positions in search for important keywords. Techniques focus on content optimization, technical optimization and link building.

If you have some information what I should change on my website to meet the Google News recommendations, please send them to me.

Much appreciated.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

I had to change the filenames of most pages for my site from .html to .php.
Offhand I see 2 snags with this:
1.  SEO:  Does anyone have an example of the code to do 301 Redirects on all .hmtl pages to help pass Google SEO credit thru to the .php files of the same name?
2.  EXISTING EXTERNAL LINKS:  Does this 301 redirect ALSO forward Browser Users to the new .php page, or do I need to handle that separately so that the hundreds of eternal .html links do not 404 ?

I've built a webpage that features my book that contains 35,000 different services you can provide with your home computer.  Seeking to draw more viewers to my webpage who are searching for information about one or more of the services contained in my book.  Don't think it prudent to list 35,000 keywords on my webpage, and don't have enough experience using META or Indexing to know whether they are viable options.  Would welcome expert's exchange.  Thanks.

I have a small wordpress blog for our company.  I have an idea for some articles that would be purely for generating traffic (free advice content) and I'm wondering if it'd be best to optimize for a category of my blog that exists, or create an entirely new wordpress blog with all those articles having backlinks to our company page.

I bought the domain: freechurchaccountingtips.com that I was going to use on a new site.

thoughts?

Points to note:
1. website is having new content every day, means the website is updating daily.
2. Site is having 5-6k traffic daily only for specific country.
3. site can be a movie website or a news website.
4. site is having backlinks from 5-10 low-quality domain.

There are a few dissimilar influences that will regulate how quickly or slowly results will derive. This list shows, but isn't limited to:
•      How much the content you created
•      The content must be unique
•      How your audience engage with the content
•      If you're a big or small site with strong or weak domain authority (D.A) and page authority (P.A)

I was running some SEO tests on various websites that tell you where you have problems and one of them said my URL didn't have a / at the end and that this was a problem e.g.: mysite.com/about-us/

If this is true, why?

I am curious, what is the most professional way of building domain names, when the company name is using hyphens.

The case I am most interested in, when there is also an extra word after the company name in the desired domain.

How would you hyphen for instance:
( Lorem-Ipsum is the company name recognised with hyphen)

Lorem-Ipsum Company
Lorem-Ipsum Bicycles
Lorem-Ipsum bicycle accessories

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way of saying thank you for being a part of the community.

I have a basic HTML website that I am trying to add Google AdSense banners to.  I creates an AsSense account, and created some Ad units.  I copied and placed the code in the body of my HTML as per instructions.  But only blanks show up.

I tried some 3rd party tools like https://ctrlq.org/sandbox/
They all show Ads for my site.

So I thought maybe some other  code on the page was conflicting.  I simplified and went vanilla with a test page.  Still does not work.

Here is the test page code:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">

<head>
</head>

<body>

	<!-- Google AdSense Widget -->

		<script async src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
		<!-- Responsive -->
		<ins class="adsbygoogle"
			 style="display:block"
			 data-ad-client="ca-pub-7730398836286935"
			 data-ad-slot="3609658762"
			 data-ad-format="auto"></ins>
		<script>
		(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
		</script>
		responsive ad above this line

</body>
</html>

Hi,

My website is ranking no. 1 for a search term that I have been focusing on for quite a while.

I am working on a new Wordpress theme, which I am planning on installing on my site next week.

Could the change of theme, affect my SEO? The code of the new theme is very clean and fast.

The only thing that will change is my theme...my content will not change.

How do search engines usually react to this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi guys, I hope that my problem is not too complicated or too specific

I recently changed all my URL titles. Here's an example :

https://www.lecomparateur.net/comparatif/5/meilleur-machine-a-cafe
https://www.lecomparateur.net/comparatif/5/machine-a-cafe

The first one is the old URL and the second one is the new one. I made this for all my products.

It's important to note that the URL format is set within an URL Rewrite which consists of :
<rule name="RewriteArticle" stopProcessing="true">
          <match url="^comparatif/([0-9]+)/([_0-9a-z-]+)" />
          <action type="Rewrite" url="pages/voir_comparatif.aspx?id_comparatif={R:1}&amp;name={R:2}" redirectType="Permanent" />
        </rule>

Open in new window

So R:1 represents the ID and R:2 the product name

When we browse to one or another of these URLs it obviously works because the title is just for better optimization and is IRRELEVANT for showing content. In other words, my server side code takes the ID and displays the webpage based on that ID.

Problem is, I forced google to reindex my pages via the Google Search Console and now when I type site:lecomparateur.net in google the 2 different URLs are shown in the results. Along with that, it looks like Google made my site drop A LOT in rankings since these changes (don't know if it's related but I changed almost nothing else since). Do you think they consider it as duplicate content? Not sure....

So I browsed to 'URL Temporary Removal' from Google Search Console to delete all the old URLs. They are now in a pending mode awaiting process.

Is it the right thing to do?

Thanks in advance

Hello,  I hope I am describing my question clearly.  I am doing a research project and have a task to perform advanced internet searches using use a search engine that is not powered by the common commercial search engines such as google, yahoo, aol or other.  I found some good search engines with the necessary features.  However my requirements are to search by range of dates that I enter in as free form; for example 01/01/2012 to 01/31/2012.  Most of the search engines have date parameters for 'past week', 'past month' or 'past year' or a drop down calendar feature to filter by date range.

Can you help me find documentation/online resources where I can find how to construct search engine browser based queries specifying a range of dates?  I am asking for syntax help to write free form advanced internet searches that would not need to be search engine specific.  Your help will be most appreciated.

I want to build my team to be SEO centric. We have a great opportunity to make money from sales of certain line of products that are not competitive. And I want to know the best way to go about it.

1. I want to hire research and content employees, who will take their time to develop the right content to best advise potential customers on best practices.

2. What else will I do right? that'll give hugely significant result within a 3-6 months time frame.

I will like to outsource the technical aspect to developers on elance, what should I be asking them to do: stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUBaGG33V4Q&feature=youtu.be keeps bothering me.

Hi Guys,

We want to improve the quality of the keywords for Google Adwords campaigns, so we wonder if there is a way (software, website, app, etc.) to determine the best ranked searches made by users on Google.

Regards.

I have a project in Google Analytics (GA) where I have to come up with ALL transactions in our product.  I am a newbie in GA so here are my questions-
1. I have logged into GA and did some research on how to come up with ALL transactions. Do I have to create a Dashboard for it or this is something GA has out of the box?  I have crated a Dashboard with Widgets Page views and Pages but again it only shows me top 10.  How do I increase that count?
2. I saw that User Flow shows first top 10 transactions but I am interested in both- the most and the least transaction= All transactions.  How do I get GA to show all the transactions in User Flow?

Thank you

I have a small business doing computer tech support and helping small businesses with websites and SEO. I One thing that has confused me that no one has been able to answer is when you create a new website and add it as a property in Google Search Console you get an email suggesting things you should do.

The first suggestions says “Make sure you add both "www" and "non-www" versions for your site. Also, if you use the HTTPS protocol, add those variations as well”  Does that mean I have to create two properties for each website an www and a non www? If so then I have to manage the settings in both properties.

Our products were up there for years, no problem, then all of a sudden a month ago they shut us completely down. Over multiple conversations with a rep, the upshot seems to be that the shipping and tax amounts ended up LOWER on our main website than they were in G Shopping.

We do not adjust our product prices for G Shopping... they are exactly the same as they are on our site. However, the shipping amount is one I can't figure out how to calculate properly... our cart is a home brewed affair that has multiple background API calls going to UPS or FedEx or USPS or YRC or wherever depending on the product and depending on what the customer wants for shipper.

There's absolutely no way we can get accurate shipping amounts to show in G Shopping because we have no idea where the product is going! I have no idea what G expects us to do in order to make it exact, but again, from what I am gleaning through conversations with them, it seems the trick is to just make sure we never are lower on our site than we would display in G Shopping.

Anybody have any insight or ideas as to how we can get back on our feet with G Shopping? Maybe we need to come up with a whole new shipping amount called "Best Case Scenario" (which would be the absolute cheapest the product could ship from one side of U.S. to other) or something, and then always display that amount on G Shopping? I have no idea at this point how to fix this, and the G reps are VERY non-helpful.
