Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of web content in search engines using an understanding of search engines' processes and algorithms. Also known as "natural" or "organic" search, it is distinct from paid web advertising. Performance is typically measured by testing the appearance of a website for targeted search terms, and more specifically, ranked positions in search for important keywords. Techniques focus on content optimization, technical optimization and link building.

Hi Experts,
For the website www.Nutrimedical.gr, which is a food supplement eshop and runs WooCommerce, some warnings are occurring for all the products in Google’s Structured tool https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool.

Some examples:
When we test these products with Google’s tool, two warnings are coming up.
a) https://www.nutrimedical.gr/product/happy-tummy-σταγόνες-για-κολικούς/ which is a supplement for colic infants)

1. Missing field "review"
2. No global identifier provided (e.g., gtin, mpn, isbn)

For (1) [embed=file 1437960] the review tab exists and it has also one written review [embed=file 1437963]
For (2) the warning is correct because no global identifier provided

b) Second product, https://www.nutrimedical.gr/product/actibutir-ευερέθιστο-έντερο/ a supplement to counteract abdominal pain symptoms

Again, the same two warnings are coming up but now both fields are normally presented [embed=file 1437962]

As I can understand, Google cannot correctly crawl the pages as we can understand from the above results

My questions are:
How to edit the structured data in product pages (Wordpress) so that the pages can be crawled correctly?

Can these warnings be fixed or it's the theme's fault?
Thank you

I had a page from my site on the first page of Google for several years, and it disappeared a few weeks ago.
Most of the time that page was in Google first page position #5 (fifth one down after you look past all the sponsored links).
Sometimes it would drop back to position #14, and I would see it on the 2nd page of Google.
Now it is gone. Assuming that it is still somewhere in Google (not black-listed), my question is ...
Is there a way to tell what position a page is currently at in Google? For example, is my page now in position #23 or position #1325 or ?

How would we do this?

Thanks,

What is wrong with this search string on amazon.com?

The below syntax returns standard hdmi cables as opposed to mini-hdmi

1. The search string mini-hdmi to usb-c does not work.
2. The search string "mini-hdmi"+to+"usb-c" does not work.

Hi,

Why do businesses tend to stay away from using a - (hyphen) in their domain name when they are struggling to obtain the domain name that they require.

I notice a lot of businesses use 'get' or 'the' in the domain name such as www.getproductname.com or www.theproductname.com

01 - Is www.product-name.com not better / nicer?

02 - which is better for SEO (how does Google handle hyphens in a url?)?

Funnily enough I noticed that EE actually uses a hyphen in the domain name (www.expert-exchange.com), but I think that's so it doesn't read as 'expert sex change' (as far as I can remember) :-)

Any advice at all on this would be appreciated, thanks

Hello. A client has a website built in WIX, the mobile experience and forms are far from great. They are not willing to change the website technology.

They are wanting to advertise on Google Ads and send the traffic to a landing page, but I am going to need to optimize the page for traffic and all relevant SEO on page etc.

Should I use a subdomain and create a landing experience? Wordpress subdomain site? Should I use another page on Wix formatted for mobile? Should I use a / subdirectory re-direct?

What I am concerned about is all the SEO factors that google uses when sending ad traffic to subdomain etc

thanks all for the time

In March last year due to Yoast Media Bug (which caused images being indexed as a page with nothing but one image without any additional text) the traffic on my website dropped 80%!
- https://yoast.com/media-attachment-urls/

The cause of this traffic loss was identified in the end of December last year which makes almost 10 months of low traffic and thousands of indexed pages (URLs which should never be indexed) instead of hundreds (real number).

Another problem was the "forgotten" phpBB board installed on the same domain which started to have a lot of spam posts which probably contributed to additional traffic loss later in the summer.

All this made a lot of first page search result URLs virtually non-existent - they do not appear up to 5th or 10th search result pages.

Now, everything is fixed (phpBB uninstalled, sitemap has only hundreds of high quality URLs, and the unwanted URLs respond with 410 and 404 error codes) but the traffic is the same low for 3 weeks after fix already.

How long do you think it will take to recover?

And is there anything more I could do?

On our website we have a common footer for all pages. So the footer is defined once and called in each html page. The code for this is given below.
Now my question is will googlebot consider the contents of footer ? Because when I checked in serach consol and tried to fetch as google, it did not show me the contents.

**Footer opt1**
=================================================== -->
        <div id="footer_offer"></div>

        <!-- Scroll to top -->
        <a href="#" class="scroll-top"><i class="fa fa-angle-up" aria-hidden="true"></i></a>

        <!-- jQuery first, then Popper.js, then Bootstrap JS -->
        <script src="js/jquery.min.js"></script>
        <!-- Header - Footer Script -->
        <script>
                  $("#header").load("includes/header.html");
            $("#footer_offer").load("includes/footer.html");

I've tried to dig more into this and there was a kind of a smaller solution I figured out but after looking into it very close I see that it will be a problem in a long run so I'm trying to find the best way of getting let me say the list or all if possible internet web addresses, like if a new domain is registered I should also get it, my question is how can I find these, I know we may think crawling sites, but the reality now is that crawling sites will be something that wont be supported in a near future, that because I've also tried to check some sites that I wanted to crawl so that I can get more sites addresses to visit and crawl but people are now preventing crawling by hiding the addresses or links, like for instance a site that people post business ads for free, they hide the link that shows the full detailed ad details of the post by using some ad id which there script understands and dynamically loads the ad to the user, so crawling such sites require each custom site crawler after you have figured out how are they hiding this.

Bing, Google do find these information, how can I also find this information. I'm more interested in fining domains/sites urls.

Any one who can help on this?

Hello!

We have an intranet that's behind a username/password page and one of our biggest struggles is search. We've implemented a basic search tool and it does okay at best. If searching for the word book, it'll return pages with the word book in it. However, it runs into issues when using multiple words, quotations, and does not rank the results for the user. Our intranet is using php and CodeIgniter. I looked around at codecanyon.net for php search engine scripts, but nothing really stuck out to me. Does an expert have a suggestion on what a good search solution might be for an intranet?

Hi there,
Is there a way/tool/ search engine that would allow me to search for multiple variations of the same phrase at the same time?
For example, I want to search for "revealing his true belief". But I also want to search for all the phrases that have the same or similar meaning like"betraying their real opinion".
The total number of words here is 8 but there are many different ways to combine the words so there are many different potential alternative phrases: "revealing his true opinion" "revealing his real opinion" "betraying our real opinion" etc….
Is there a way to accomplish this in two conditions?
1- I determine the alternatives. So I specify that for "word 1 word 2 word 3 word4", the alternatives for word 1 are: Only revealing or showing.
2- Use all the possible synonyms or even antonyms for "revealing" in word 1.
The tips I got so far from Reddit
"
Word2Vec or Doc2Vec is something that can be used for this, depending on whether you just wish to substitute synonyms or match the distributional semantics of arbitrary phrases.

---
If you don’t know your alternatives (e.g., you don’t know that revealing is similar to showing), then you need something than can do synonyms. Most search engines (e.g., Google) can do this, as can some natural language processing programs.

If you do know the alternatives, you can describe your pattern to a search engine or most computer programs using regular expressions. A regex that would match your example would be …
