Does anyone know of a tool that will look at a sitemap and report how many pages and how many images the site has?
Thanks

[Webinar] Database Backup and Recovery

Does your company store data on premises, off site, in the cloud, or a combination of these? If you answered “yes”, you need a data backup recovery plan that fits each and every platform. Watch now as as Percona teaches us how to build agile data backup recovery plan.

I need to find and fix the following CSS errors on my site...

https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fortressharvard.com%2F

but am not sure where to begin.

I do have an Admin log-in and am curious how and where to make these fixes. I will do a push to BitBucket before I do any experimentation...

I was told it would take 6-8 hours to complete, and suspect that removing things flagged as unnecessary may not be as simple as it sounds.

So we're re-naming all the categories and product names on our website. Which means we need to do redirects for each page, hundreds of them.

We want to test it on our dev site. What the boss is asking for is a linkchecker that will create a sitemap, then once we run the scripts to rename it all, the linkchecker will test the sitemap against the live site to see if there are any broken links.

I think that's what he's going on about, but basically any way that we can run a scan on the current site, then run the scripts to change the names, then check to be sure that all the 301 redirects are there.

Any tools out there you know of? Thanks.

Hello,

If I want to ONLY allow SE bots to index files that are in directory "dir1" and matching a filename pattern *_files.asp, what syntax would that be in the robots.txt file?

Hi, It looks like our sitemap lists pages which have a canonical tag, like  www dot magickitchen.com/menu/get-well/7601.html.

Is that something not allowed by Google? Will it affect search results? Because the site map generator just adds them in, and I update it every few months. It will take some extra work to list all my pages with canonical tags and remove them from the sitemap each time.

For instance, this is listed five times in different categories, the highlighted one is the canonical page.

Thanks, looking forward to your advice!

I have a picture of a company's logo but I don't remember the name of the company.

This logo is unique and I have several saved digital pictures of this logo.

How can I perform a Google search to see what websites contain this logo?

All of a sudden when I enter a from and to destination in www.google.co.uk, like this for example:

"Madrid-New York"

I don't get any link to Google Tickets in the search results any more (I always got that earlier).

Another thing that also happened in relation to this is that when I do a Google search in my own language (Swedish), using www.google.se and advanced settings where I have selected to only display search results in my own language, is that now it doesn't say that the search results are in the Swedish language (but they seem to be). Earlier this was always displayed.

So what has happened with my Google (both www.google.co.uk and www.google.se), and what do I need to be able to go to Google Tickets again? Does anyone have the URL?

I use Google Chrome on a Windows Home 7 Premium.

Free Tool: Subnet Calculator

The subnet calculator helps you design networks by taking an IP address and network mask and returning information such as network, broadcast address, and host range.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way of saying thank you for being a part of the community.

Sample URL's

 /book_tour.aspx?year=2017&tourcode=8240&strdate=18/Jul/2017&endDate=28/Jul/2017&strdept=824070718Z
/book_tour.aspx?year=2017&tourcode=9020&strdate=25/Feb/2017&endDate=05/Mar/2017&strdept=902070225

Our site is a dynamic site where data is pulled through API.

I'm not sure if something has to be tweaked in wordpress or htaccess file. Also another biggest issue is, our organic traffic has dropped 80%, I understand that initially when platform changes, there will be a traffic drop but it's not improving month on month. Did we do something wrong in migration, I'm not sure, Please help.

Hi
I just noticed if i do a google page speed test and just put www.mysite in the search, google shows it is scanning the now defunct http: version and displays a result, but if i put in HTTPS://mysite it shows scanning the https version with a different result.
Page header 301 redirects appear ok and only https pages only are served and indexed.
In the search console the https version is the only one which exists and as far as i understand there is no way of manually telling google that the https version is preferred
Is there something I have missed after changing from http to https or is this something google page speed just does

I had to change the filenames of most pages for my site from .html to .php.
Offhand I see 2 snags with this:
1.  SEO:  Does anyone have an example of the code to do 301 Redirects on all .hmtl pages to help pass Google SEO credit thru to the .php files of the same name?
2.  EXISTING EXTERNAL LINKS:  Does this 301 redirect ALSO forward Browser Users to the new .php page, or do I need to handle that separately so that the hundreds of eternal .html links do not 404 ?

Got a call today from a non-client hoping that I could help.  Their website address is http://www.northlakesdistributing.com/.  When you type it in in the address bar, you get to their site. When you Google north lakes distributing, the first result appears to be the correct url but it goes to a drug site.  Where is the problem?  The host?  Not sure how to fix since the site does appear when you type it in directly but the google search is messed up.

I have been building websites so that in the HTML the content area appears above the header so the keywords appear closer to the top of the page. I was under the impression this gave you advantages when targeting keywords in SEO as the important keywords appear closer to the start of the HTML.

So instead of:

HEADER

CONTENT

FOOTER

The HTML is arranged like:

CONTENT

HEADER

FOOTER

The CSS is adjusted accordingly so the front end is still displayed in the correct order.

Is this given importance by Google in their search engine ranking or am I going over top and this is actually unnecessary?

In a meeting some time back, a comment was thrown on the table that over 88% of companies in the US, with 100+ employees, are using social media.  We don't have any social media presences and are now considering it - we did started setting up just accounts for social media that was mention in that meeting (facebook, tweeter, linkedin, youtube, instagram, pinterest).

We understand this is a vast subject, and maybe complicated, but would greatly appreciated any EE that may have some experience in the topic, share their advice  in:

- what to consider prior.
- which social media get into first.
- how many should we set up in.
- doing this less monies possible (as a start).

Thank you in advance.

I've built a webpage that features my book that contains 35,000 different services you can provide with your home computer.  Seeking to draw more viewers to my webpage who are searching for information about one or more of the services contained in my book.  Don't think it prudent to list 35,000 keywords on my webpage, and don't have enough experience using META or Indexing to know whether they are viable options.  Would welcome expert's exchange.  Thanks.

I have a client that has a Google Adwords account.  The account was suspended.  The message read:

I have scoured the site and read all of the documentation and for the life of me cannot find what the issue may be:

I initially created a profile with just first name and last initial because I didn't want anyone finding it as I was working on it.

So,
My URL looks like:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-t-803ra5sabb7/
              instead of something friendlier like:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/timothyleeyoung/

Is that an issue?

Can I make my linkedin profile private until I'm ready to unveil it?

Thanks
Mike

Is there a repository or anything like that of old versions of your website?  Indexed pages with old content?  Is there a way to "Purge" the internet of any old versions of webpages?  Meaning, there some old pages from my website that are indexed that I have changed and or deleted that still come up for some reason.  Thanks in advance,.

Hi
The last time I received Adsense approval, I invited a lot of people interested in my blog topic to post, to get Adsense approval.
Is this the only way?

Is Google only interested in constant visits, traffic, not blog posts?
Thanks
