A smartphone or smart phone is a mobile phone with an advanced mobile operating system that combines features of a personal computer operating system with other features useful for mobile or handheld use. They typically combine the features of a cell phone with those of other popular mobile devices, such as personal digital assistant (PDA), media player and GPS navigation unit. Most smartphones can access the Internet, have a touchscreen user interface, can run third-party apps, music players and are camera phones. Most Smartphones produced from 2012 onwards also have high-speed mobile broadband 4G LTE internet, motion sensors, and mobile payment mechanisms.

Question about how SSL Certificates work on a mobile phone app.

We are setting up a 2-factor authentication for our remote access.  The process involves enrolling your smartphone with your user account for remote access.  Very much like how Duo Mobile works ( https://duo.com ); but, we cannot add our smartphones because the when scanning the QR code to enroll the smartphone an error comes up stating that the Smartphone App does not trust the certificate.

We have a Certificate a respected Certificate Authority (THAWTE) on our Authentication server.  The consultant informed me that we have 2 options.

1.  Change the certificate to another CA on the server.
        a.  He said GoDaddy or Verisign will work for sure(its working in his test lab).
        b.  Try to get a refund on the THAWTE certificate that we purchased.

2.  Wait for the certificate trust anchors to get updated by the Application.
        a.  But who knows when that will happen.

The consultant stated that if he browses to the web url that the QR code is referencing (for example, https://whatever.com) there is no certificate error prompt and I verified that I do not see any certificate errors either(from a browser).

My manager thinks that the consultant should include the certificate in the authentication chain on the new Authentication server; but, I am not sure how that part actually works.

Hi Android Experts,

I'm after an app/program that will allow me to organize all the icons on my Samsung Galaxy S9+ 256GB 4GX phone using my computer.

I recall being able to do this with my iPhones because iTunes displayed the phone configuration on screen and I could drag and drop apps and icons around on my computer screen while my phone was connected, and then the iPhone would update itself with the changes I'd made. I found this highly helpful and an easy way to organize my icons.

I have a LOT of icons and apps installed on my Android phone and organizing them the way I like in a native way on the phone I find to be a pain, so I'd like something that will allow me to do it the way iTunes let me do it with my iPhones.

Ie: Display my Phone screen configuration on my Windows 10 computer screen and allow me to organize my icons using my computer and then have my Android Phone update itself to the configurations that I'd selected on my computer screen. I'm happy to pay for a program to allow me to do this, so it doesn't have to be free.

I've looked through Google Play Store and see a lot of App Organizers, but they all seem to be just apps that are only installed on the Android phone, rather than allow me to connect the phone to the computer and do my organizing there.

Ie: Connect my phone to the computer so I can use my computer to update the icon positions on my phone instead.

Either this isn't available, or perhaps I'm using the wrong search terms on …

I would like to know the SUREST method to backup all my contacts on my phone to my PC . I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I have the Google back up checked however the last time I formatted my phone I lost quite a few contacts for some reason. Luckily I was able to find the missing ones from Google Text messages app and DRUPE{ it's a third party app which cost me $12.00 ?} it had saved my contacts. I am a bit paranoid. I want to reformat my phone again but I do not want to risk losing any contacts information. The more back up the better. So if some one can give a couple of options to back up hopefully everything on my phone specifically the CONTACTS that would be great.

Thank you.
I like to sell my moto 4g plus current phone.

I have a UIPageViewController which I am using for onboarding/walthrough screens but at the moment they only work with swipes. I added a button but I can't actually connect it and create an IBAction. I was able to programatically create a button that could print to console but I don't know how to get it to move the screens like swiping does.

class PageViewController: UIPageViewController, UIPageViewControllerDelegate, UIPageViewControllerDataSource {
    var pageControl = UIPageControl()
    // MARK: UIPageViewControllerDataSource
    lazy var orderedViewControllers: [UIViewController] = {
        return [self.newVc(viewController: "sbBlue"),
                self.newVc(viewController: "sbRed")]
    override func viewDidLoad() {
        self.dataSource = self
        self.delegate = self
        // This sets up the first view that will show up on our page control
        if let firstViewController = orderedViewControllers.first {
                               direction: .forward,
                               animated: true,
                               completion: nil)
        // Do any additional setup after loading the view.
    func configurePageControl() {
        // The total number of pages that are available is based on how many

Hi Experts,

I recently consolidated a number of contacts that were duplicated in my contacts list on my Android S9+ mobile phone.

Now I've noticed that a lot of the consolidated contacts have the wrong avatar of the persons face, in many cases, the avatar on the contact is of a totally different person than who the contact in my phone really is.

Can anyone explain the best way to fix this so that the pictures on the contacts are correct? Please include step by step instructions if possible as I'm relatively new to Android phones, being an Iphone user for many years.

Many thanks for any help.

Regards, Andrew

I am working on an iOS application (in nativescript) that needs to get and post some data to an API in the background each 5 minutes. Now it seems that iOS is closing my application so I took a look at the long running tasks section of https://docs.nativescript.org/core-concepts/ios-runtime/how-to/BackgroundExecution but I fail to see how I should configure an interval now.

Also while it works correctly on the simulator (not thinking about the interval) with the debug fetch command, I can't get it to work correctly on a real device.

On some Android Devices when a subscriber receives an SMS message parts of the plain text message get hyperlinked to other apps such as the dialer and Google Maps on other devices the same message does not get linked.

I understand that different manufactures and even different models from the same manufacturer may include different versions of apps or even different apps for the same task.  What I can't find any where is how to control (if one can) this linking activity so that a numeric such "18-1234567" is not mapped to the dialer and the text "Loc: 123 smith St, Somewhere NY 100012" is mapped to the Google App Map or Waze.

TIA for any insight you all might have..
I have a Nexus 6 Android phone with Android 7.1.1

When I purchased the phone some years ago it was important to have an unlocked phone as well as what they called stock Android.

At the time I understood this to mean that you could use the SIM card from any carrier and that the software included with the stock Android was not tied to any particular carrier.

I have a lot of apps on this phone and it seems to run out of battery power pretty quick. I would like to stick unlocked phones with stock Android if possible, but have a better option in terms of stability, battery life, and a fast camera.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
How do you root a BLU studio G phone?

Referring to above unfinished EE thread,

will anything break if I move Whatsapp photos/images from Phone to microSD & if needed,
later move the photos/images back to the phone?

Would like to clarify what Tim Green mentioned below: I could not locate it.

"Just because it doesn't cache the email, it still save info about the mailbox that will be needed for connectivity.
The move process may be a bit different depending on the android device but you can do it like this for the most part:

1.Navigate to settings on your phone
2.Tap Apps.
3.Select an app you want to move to the microSD card.
4.Tap Storage.
5.Tap Change if it's there. If you don't see the Change option, the app cannot be moved.
6.Tap Move. "
After installing MobilePass (a 2FA/OTP app for use with Checkpoint
VPN), it has required my Android phone to enter a PIN : previously
I just need to swipe the screen.

The issue is: since MobilePass app is installed, all my various
Whatsapp groups don't give a sound/alert even if I set custom
notifications.  However, the new whatsapp messages will still
pop up (if I set a custom notification).

I would like the sound notifications for new messages at set
by custom notifications.

How can I indicate to my iPhone X that I am walking (and not driving) while I am using the built-in GPS map services to provide me with turn by turn directions?

This is especially important since I visit a lot of towns that have one-way streets.
I'm looking for an iPhone app/service that will make all outgoing phone calls originate from another phone number.

This way all calls that I place on my iPhone X will display this other phone number on the caller ID screen of the person I am calling so that I won't reveal my iPhone X phone number.

This is something that Google Voice used to do until June 1, 2018 (due to the Google Voice app no longer integrating with cell phone providers like it used to).

What apps or services will allow this to be done?
I have a new pulldown on my phone, as well as a blue box with Boost on it that pops up now and again. I can't find anything in apps, or in apps under settings.

Screenshot attached, anyone know how I can get rid of this? It seems to be wanting me to install the app.

I've tried with safari
Is there anyway possible to get this working where notifies user to add to homescreen on iOS ?

Lately, when I have been taking pictures with my iPhone X some of the pictures have been captured as movie files (.MOV) instead of just regular pictures (.JPG files).

How can I change this so that when I use the camera app on my iPhone it will only capture picture and won't capture movie files?
