Smartphones

A smartphone or smart phone is a mobile phone with an advanced mobile operating system that combines features of a personal computer operating system with other features useful for mobile or handheld use. They typically combine the features of a cell phone with those of other popular mobile devices, such as personal digital assistant (PDA), media player and GPS navigation unit. Most smartphones can access the Internet, have a touchscreen user interface, can run third-party apps, music players and are camera phones. Most Smartphones produced from 2012 onwards also have high-speed mobile broadband 4G LTE internet, motion sensors, and mobile payment mechanisms.

I'm looking for a Note 9 casing that comes with built-in battery
which I can manually turn on/off charging the phone's built-in
battery so tt it doesn't constantly charge the built-in phone battery

There's no mention if the following models offer this feature:

Anyone knows if Zenfone Max Pro M1 above fr USA could

a) be used with Singapore Telcos (Singtel, StarHub)

b) support NFC & LTE ?

Does zenfone Max Pro M1 support smart battery management whereby
it charges/recharge the battery at optimal timings?

Secondly, does it come with a 128GB storage option (not via microSD)

To prolong my battery lifespan, is there any Android app that:
"will stop the charging & only kick in the battery charging when it
hits about 20-30% & then stop charging when it hits 80%?
0
As batteries are built into mobile phones nowadays & to replace them
requires it to be brought to the workshop who has the tools to change
them,  I'm thinking of getting battery casings so as to reduce the
number of charge+discharge (that is what typically reduce the lifespan
of batteries.

Specifically I'm looking at Galaxy note 9 ie batteries like those below:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GB5R27M/ref=psdc_7073958011_t1_B07H3256JB
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H3256JB/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2QAZ8RQ4KWQ44&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071NWVT9M/ref=psdc_7073958011_t2_B07H3256JB

Q1:
Am I right or mistaken?  With above battery cases, will the phone  charge
directly from the casings' batteries rather than charging from the built-in
batteries?

Q2:
Or it'll shorten the built-in battery's lifespan instead as the casings will
charge the built-in battery whenever the built-in battery goes down by
1-2%, thus maximizing the number of charge+discharge cycles?

Q3:
Any other ways to increase life span of built-in batteries?  Understand
we should let it discharge till almost 1-2% before charging it up again
& we should always charge it to the max of 100%: this is a known
good practice but often this is rather inconvenient & risk discharging
completely, resulting in phone being powered off, missing crucial
calls/messages.

What I do know is if laptops are frequently being left connected to
AC or even an external powerbank (Hyperjuice, Vinsic…

One day an Outlook app appeared on the Android LG K7 phone desktop. I'd like to find out how much memory it takes up, and then delete Outlook. I looked this up, but when I follow the instructions, I quickly am unable to find an item in the Settings area. Does anyone know how to do this?

https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-30601
In Delete section, it says: "Tap the account you want to delete." but the only item there is Google, not Outlook or hotmail.

My phone was linked to a google account and contacts were sync fine. The sync has been frozen for a while and phone won't sync anymore, so I removed Google account from Android. But when added again the sync menu now DOES NOT show CONTACTS ; so I am unable to sync my contact because it is not there to select.

I tried to restart phone several times,
I tried to disable/enable the Google Contact system app,
even cleared its cache ... still the phone is linked to a Google account, but is not showing Contacts Sync option

I'm thinking about using Companionlink to sync my Outlook to my Android phone.

Have used it in the past.

Looking at connecting via Bluetooth as it's the simplest option.

Concerned about security.

Seems like the software sends data via Bluetooth encrypted.  So, checks one box.

Here's my question - after I get the phone and the PC paired I can turn off discoverability.  But...seems like, for my Win10 PC (and lots of others) turning off Bluetooth is not enough.  I've got to run services.msc to get discoverability  ACTUALLY turned off.

So, my question is: am I on the right track here: to ACTUALLY keep my PC undiscoverable I would have to run services.msc and disable it at that level?

Then, to the base of my question: somehow having my Outlook data transferred via Bluetooth is dismaying.  Should I have that concern?

My other options used to date have been using MS Exchange locally via a program called Akruto.  Or, using Companionlink over Wifi.  Each of these are also locally broadcasting my Outlook data to my phone.  (At one point I was even super secure syncing with Companionlink via USB cable.  Safe, but not efficient.)

So, my thinking now is this - if I can get Bluetooth discoverability ACTUALLY disabled on my PC and my phone that would reduce the chance when I'm on the road for a malefactor …

Say, I'm used to using the Audicity program in Windows https://www.audacityteam.org/ . I use very few of the features, just basic audio editing. Kindly recommend an app for Android that is similar in nature and perhaps, compatible. Thanks, Shaun

Got this screenshot in a great reply to a question.
encryption-is-where.png
It is from Android 9, Lite.  Going by the caption at the top of the screenshot screen "Encryption & credentials", seems like there's a setting in the OS called Encryption & credentials.

I'm using Android 9.  Not Lite.

For some reason, I can't find that same Encryption & credentials setting in Android 9.

What do you think is happening?

Many thanks,

MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.12 released      2019-06-17

They say:
Simply explore your Android phone !
Connect your phone via WiFi, cable or bluetooth and you'll be surprised how easy and efficient it will be to manage your phone with our software. Since it's first release MyPhoneExplorer evolved into the most popular freeware tool for smartphones. The software is constantly updated with new features.

Anyone have experience with this app?

My main question: in syncing data, does the transfer between android phone and PC get sent encrypted, or can anyone read it?

Thanks!

Have a new Samsung A7, Android 8.0.0 OS.

Can't see the option for encrypting the PHONE.

Have encrypted the SD card.

Have set up a PIN & fingerprint sensor unlock.

I recall there was an option to encrypt the phone - had one with my Sasumg J5.

But, can't find the option to encrypt anything beyond the SD card on this phone.

What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks!

I have a Galaxy Note 9 with Android Pie (version 9.0) installed and have an issue with it.

From time to time as most people do I listen to music on my phone with Bluetooth headset. I also have a Bluetooth receiver in the car for hands free calling when driving.

Those aren't an issue in themself, the issue is whenever the phone connects to the Bluetooth device in the car it automatically starts playing the music I was previously listening to. It only occurs with the car device because that automatically switches on with the car so automatically connects. I can even have been listening through USB speakers previously and it will still start automatically when connected to Bluetooth device.

It doesn't seem to start the App that I used (eg Google Play Music, TuneIn radio app or Amazon Music) but I get the play control notification ( << || >>) in the notifications area.

Its easy enough to get rid of, tap the pause and then swipe the notification away. That's if I notice it, it could be that I don't notice and it is potentially streaming music (TuneIn or Amazon Music) using my mobile data, not a massive data usage but shouldn't be happening.

Is there a setting in Android somewhere that I can change to stop music automatically playing whenever I reconnect to a Bluetooth device? Autoplay setting or something.

Thanks
Rob

Our Android phone keeps losing its messaging function. It will receive notices about Gmail, but if we're waiting for a notification to come in from say twitter, because we need a code to help us log in, that type of message isn't arriving.

We've fixed it a few times by going into apps, then messaging, and deleting the cache and storage, then rebooting. But it's a huge pain to have to do that, and it takes 15 minutes or more for that to work.

Anything we can do?

Say, My Android phone is backing up call log history to google drive. I can view the file under backups in Google Drive. How do I download this file and inspect it? I want to view the raw data.

Does Google keep older backups or each time over right them and if so is there a setting or way to keep a history of backup files?

Say, I have an android Black Berry Key one with Google Backups enabled. I'm after restoring a backup of my call logs from 5 months ago.

The user has moved into a new apartment.  They brought their Panasonic wireless home phone system, with a base station and two satellite phones with them.

They would like to just give everybody they know only their cell phone number.  They need an adapter that would transfer all the cell phone calls to their Panasonic system.  This way they have the convenience of the Panasonic stations, and don't have to carry around a cell phone all day.

What is a good unit that will do this?

Thanks

Hi Experts

Could you point what must to be checked/ configured to make Win 10 recognize again an Android smarttphone using USB?

I guess since the last Win 10 actualization it stopped recognize the smartphone. Amazingly a popup  rapidilly  appear/ disappear and the caracteristic sound occurs, but after that the celular drive doesn't appear at Win Explorer.

The celular's charge is occuring normaly.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 16GB per month plan from Verizon.  I got an email that said I can go to unlimited for 2 dollars more a month.  Is this legit?  Is there a catch that anyone knows of?  Here is a screenshot of the ad.

I have an earphone with a lightening port, I can use it with my iPhone.
However, I want to use it also on my other devices that only have a 3.5mm port.
Is there any adapter in the market for such purpose?
