I have an OnePlus 5 running the latest Android 7, stock (not rooted). How on earth do I set Sunday as the first day of the week such that Google Calendar, Inbox and Keep all use Sunday as the start of the week.

Thanks in advance.

[Webinar] Lessons on Recovering from Petya

Skyport is working hard to help customers recover from recent attacks, like the Petya worm. This work has brought to light some important lessons. New malware attacks like this can take down your entire environment. Learn from others mistakes on how to prevent Petya like worms.

I'm working with a Samsung Galaxy S6 on the Verizon network. It is current on software updates.

The phone works normally until we switch to maximum batter power saver mode (Settings, Battery, Power Saving Mode - Max.  After engaging this max power saving mode, the phone won't accept calls, and doesn't show missed calls. Even after returning the phone to normal power mode, it won't accept calls.  If we restart the phone is Max Power Saving mode it still won't accept calls.

Normally, restarting the phone will resolve this problem, but a few time we've had to do a full power off, and use the On/Off button to start the phone to resolve the problem.

Does any have any experience with this issue?

Thanks,

Steve

Hello - we have Exchange 2010 OWA and I had a user who lost his Android phone in an airport.  We wiped it clean to be safe.  He later found the phone and we're trying to set it back up again, but OWA keeps wiping it clean.  I checked the OWA Manage User screen to see if it was set to keep wiping it, and I don't see that it is.  But its apparently stuck in a loop.  Anyone see this before?

Thanks

I am currently setting up a training room where I want everything to be automated. I have door style windows on a slanted roof that currently needs to be opened manually. The problem is that the windows are very high, and it is not practical to try and open them manually.

They are side hung escape windows with wooden frames and dimensions 660x1180mm.

I want to convert the windows so they can open automatically, preferably using a remote or voice commands using my SmartThings hub or Amazon Alexa. Would this be possible?

Would you be able to guide me to the type of window opener/actuator that would best suit my window and what else I would need to get to be able to use my SmartThings hub or IFTTT event triggering.

Any solutions would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Robbie

A freind has a samsung 6 phone and wants to be able to tranfer files from his windows computer to the phone over wireless or bluetooth or whatever would be easiest.  Is there an app that can do this for someone with limitied tech skills?  Maybe where the program can be on the computer and you right click a file and tell it to go to the cloud and then it is accessible on the phone?

I have set my Android phone to sync with myemail@outlook.com and my desktop Outlook 365 to sync to the same account and even though both seem to show they are syncing, the contact lists are different. Can anyone help me fix.

To expand a little, in case it is relevant,
1. I have two yahoo IMAP accounts in my sync list, one of which is the default
2. I have 3 other Microsoft Exchange email addresses on different accounts that I am syncing too, PLUS myemail@Outlook.com
3. I am not trying to sync Outlook.com emails, just the contacts because that it's the only one I thought Outlook would sync with
4. The other 3 Exchange accounts seem to be syncing fine

I change the password on my android smartphone (version is 5 almost sure) and the next day I went to work with and it doesn't work.  I didn't write the password and tried all possible similar password name with no success.

We were told that we can recover the android by using our gmail account linked to that device.

Please advice how to recover.

What are the steps to add another user's calendar to an iPhone 6 (with iOS 10.3.3)?

Office 365 is being used to host both of these email accounts.

Is there any way of doing this other than adding the other user's Office 365 account to this user's iPhone (and choosing only to sync the other user's Office 365 calendar? This is a security risk since we don't want the user with the iPhone to go into the account settings and be able to download and reply to the other user's emails).

How can I easily detect malware on smartphones? I have some on my network with strange behavior after a security incident. Unfortunately they were on the same network as the attacked machines.

On my Oppo & Note2 phones, without a SIM card, I can share out a wireless hotspot
for 2 computers to connect to (to do ftp/sftp or files transfers) but on my iPhone 6+
& iPhone 5S, that hotspot enabling button is greyed out even if I insert an expired
SIM card (or a SIM card without data plan).

I often 'sync' or do data transfers (to backup my pst) from my corporate laptop
(which disables USB port & I can't set/change IP on the LAN port but Wifi works):
but I usually brg the iPhone to office.  Is there any way or any apps on IOS that
could go around this?

Well... I'm an iOS person, but if I was ever going to switch to Android, it'd most likely be a Pixel. Seems like that's always been the best option for high-quality hardware and no vendor cruft.

Hello,

I'm looking for a portable device with the following features:

• Moderate-sized (6-12 inch) touchscreen

• USB peripheral touchscreen input-device for desktop PC running Windows 10.
◊ (ie not to replace keyboard & mouse but in addition to them)

• Mobile smartphone
        ◊ phone calls
        ◊ internet connectivity
        ◊ plays MP3 & MP4 files
        ◊ compatible with android apps

• Usable as a laptop with peripheral keyboard & mouse

Is anyone aware of a device which includes all of those features?

Thanks

Phone Battery Life
Subject of the week | Describe past technologies you miss.
Here's something I miss: good battery life on my mobile phone. I remember my old Nokia cell phones and how I'd get to measure battery life in days. Those things could go a week straight with no charging needed! Whereas my iPhone pretty much needs to be charged nightly. Granted, I still think the extra capabilities are a good trade-off, but I keep hoping we can manage to get battery tech improved to the point where modern smartphones can have battery life comparable to older cell phones.

Think we'll get there, or will the demands of smartphone power usage keep increasing such that battery life continues to stay put?

My first was a Nokia and that thing could manage to go 5 days without a charge. It could even play Snake! Sure, I still wouldn't go back to that over my iPhone, but don't you think an iPhone with more than 2 days life would be nice? Imagine not having to take chargers with you for weekend trips!

It would be nice for sure but it has never happened.

I can get by with just a USB cable because my ThinkPad now and the one before (spare) have always ON USB ports so I can carry a 45-watt AC adapter (tiny adapter) and charge both my laptop and phone.

Important Lessons on Recovering from Petya

In their most recent webinar, Skyport Systems explores ways to isolate and protect critical databases to keep the core of your company safe from harm.

Hello experts - a personal question for a change...I'm looking to replace my Samsung Galaxy S7 with a new phone.  I'd really like to find one that is fully rooted from the factory or can be easily rooted myself so that I can decide when to do updates and what apps get installed.  Are there any phones out there that come this way without having to jump through crazy hoops?

Hi,
I have a local Exchange 2010 server that works perfectly including on smartphones. A new Exchange2016 was installed and tested and it sends and received e-mails using a test account. The test account does not work on the smartphone.

We need to make the Exchange 2016 the primary server and co-exist with the Exchange2010 server until all of the mailboxes are moved over which will take a long time.  How do we proceed?

Hi, My phone is on android 6.0. The notifications sounds have stopped, although it does ring when someone phones. All the sounds I can find (media, alarm, phone ring) are turned up.

Any thoughts? Thanks, we're pretty much newbies.

I sometimes log into Experts Exchange (EE) from my phone using my phone's browser, typically if I see an interesting question in an email and click the link.

My default browser is Ghostery although Chrome is also on the phone. For a long time there was no problem logging into the EE site. A couple days ago I noticed that I cannot log into the site through Ghostery. I get either an unknown user or an incorrect username/password error message. But I can log into the EE site through Chrome with no difficulty.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running Android 5.0. A couple changes on the phone recently: I installed the LastPass Premium password manager app (but I am entering the EE username/email and password manually.) I recently uninstalled and reinstalled Ghostery.

Ghostery is set to accept cookies. I don't see other Ghostery settings that seem likely to affect the login but perhaps I am overlooking something.

Any suggestions what to try so that I can once again log into EE with Ghostery?

Thanks,
Pete

Hi, I have a need to take a lot of images and video for a certain project I'm going to be working on. I'm going to use my iPhone 6s and a Smooth Q gamble rig.

My question is - is there a simple and quick way to download my media to a hard drive in the field without using a laptop and iTunes?

Is there a stand alone hard drive (or small device) that I can use out in the field while I'm taking my images and video?

Thank you,
Fulano
