My Galaxy Note 4 (already updated to latest Android) tends to lose
connectivity to GPS (even though the connection to cellular/mobile
data network seems to be intact) while driving for 3 to 30 secs.

I'm using Waze.  The disconnection can happen even on a bright
sunny day (ie don't have to be cloudy/rainy days) or in open
highway (ie not while going through tunnels).

The same SIM card was previously used on my Galaxy Note 2 for
for almost a whole year previously & I never had this issue.

Is this a known issue with Note 4 or the Telco ?  Maybe one way I
can test this is to use the Note 4 as a hotspot (tethering) to an
iPhone & test to see if Waze/GPS  disconnects intermittently:
map is still there but there's a red alert message that 'connection
to GPS is disconnected' at the top of the screen.

I only noted 2 changes:
1. I switch from Note 2 to Note 4 at around the time I disposed
the old Honda Airwave to Toyota Sienta hybrid: not sure if
there's something in Sienta that interferes
2. Note4 tends to get very heated up while Note2 is not that
hot while Waze is in use: I've since taken out the backcover
of the Note4 (& used scotch tapes to hold the battery & SIM
card in place) when in use so that the heat dissipates

Support the build.gradle configured with compileSdkVersion 25. Should the dependencies be run in same version, ie 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:25.4.0'  ?

In resource\XML, there is 28 - 25 to choose from. Does it mean the android apps will be test to run under api 25 - 28 ?

Can I say my Android app will be compiled in v25 and will be tested in platform 25 - 28 ?

Thx

I am new to Samsung phones. I have a new S8 (running Android Oreo) and I want to be sure my notes can be restored if needed.

When I go to Setting > Cloud and Accounts > Samsung Cloud it shows Samsung Notes have synced but if I go to Notes > Settings > Import Data > (and select from google drive or Samsung account) I get the message: "No Memo data in Samsung account"

I don't have many notes yet so I can delete them and restore them to test it but how do I access the data to restore it? When I go to import data why does it say No Memo data?

Thanks,
PR

Hi,

I am aware of the fitness bands and trackers for keeping statistics for fitness routines and a person's progress.

What I am looking for is a band that focuses primarily on health rather than fitness.

The device should have a heart monitor, blood pressure monitor and alarms for difference warning scenarios.

What would be the best tracker bands that would focus on health monitoring?

Thanks,
Robbie

I need an Android App that will suppress any ringing on my phone, allow the playing of a Voice message advising the caller to unblock their number (Ie: Enable Caller ID) and call again.

Ideally, there would be no ring on my phone by calls without caller ID enabled and they would automatically get rejected and given the opportunity to leave a voice mail with a return number.

This would take care of 95% of the spam/scam calls & SMS's that I receive.

I do engage in the occasional scam baiting, so I'd like to have the option of letting those calls through occasionally when I'm in the mood, but for the most part, I want all private numbers blocked.

Anyone know of such an App?

Hi everyone. I have an Android 7 device. It's not rooted. I need a file manager/utility that allows me to view the files & folders of the root directory; specifically the System and Data partitions. I don't need 'Write' permissions, just Read-Only. I want to copy some files. In other words, I don't want to root the device. I just need read-only access. I would prefer a file manager type app but I'm open to other methods.

I have tried Solid Explorer. It shows the System Partition but not the Data partition. Thanks.

I have one user (out of 60) whose Sprint phone randomly but often keeps getting the message pop-up: "The SIM card has locked. Please power cycle the device and if the problem persists contact customer service." This was a new Samsung S9. After useless troubleshooting with Sprint tech, we returned the phone for a replacement. After a few days the issue appeared on the new phone as well.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is not happening to nay of our other users.

Hi,

We have an Amazon Fire 7 tablet.

The plan is to use the Fire 7 tablet as a device to display information.

The problem is that when the tablet goes to sleep or runs out of power, the next time the tablet is turned on or woken up, the lock screen appears.

I would like to configure, with the use of an automation app, a function that will activate when the Fire 7 tablet displays its lock screen and automatically unlock by way of a swipe up action on the screen.

Is there an automation app that can do this, mainly a free app.

Thanks,
Robbie

Say, Whatsapp Broadcast Msg Info displays READ and Delivered. I want some way to get a list of the Delivered (but not read) in order to be able to resend.
Please suggest a software of method. Does Whatsapp Business make this easier to manage than Whatsapp? I've tried Whatsapp web but this doesn't allow me to export a list and difficult to use in a web interface.

Hello experts, I've got a ZTE model Z933. A while back, my wi-fi stopped working on it for some unknown reason. I took it to my local Telus dealer and they couldn't figure it out - they said I would have to reinstall the OS. That seemed painful as I'd lose all my stuff on my phone (music, contacts, pictures, apps) and have to put it all back on after. Anyway, I don't use wi-fi often on my phone, but I think I will soon have a need to so I'd like to get it resolved (in the easiest way possible!).
Here's how it's behaving now - when I go to my "Settings", and click the slider button for "Wifi" over to the ON position, it goes to ON, but it doesn't turn blue and activate like it used to. If I just click on "Wifi" itself to go into that screen, it says "To see available networks, turn wifi on" (whereas before it would always show any networks it detected). From that screen, if I click the slider button over from OFF to ON, it flashes blue VERY briefly, goes to ON... but is not blue.
Can anyone offer any advice please? I have android version 4.3.

Thanks!
    Shawn

We want to offer our customers the possibility to download their APN settings trough a browser.
Apple has a Configuration Utility, that works fine.

It seems to be an XML like binary, that includes the details of the APN settings.
When accessing this file in the default (Safari) browser, it asks if you wish to load the config. If so, it loads the APN settings into the phone.

Does Android offer the same option?

I set out trying to find an android app that would allow me to add a previously called number to sales prospects from my phone easily. I downloaded the Base app here https://support.getbase.com/hc/en-us?return_to=%2Fhc%2Frequests but it doesn't seem to do this.

I know Base has a large following and I think it has free features. Do I need a different product or can Base do this?

Assistance is greatly appreciated.

A microphone image is displayed crossed out during phone calls.
It works for Shazam (a recorded music identifying application) and in Google.
It doesn't work for camera video or  Voice recorder.
The phone is a Samsung Note 4

I am having trouble with the Bixby voice assistant. It was working fine until a recent update. Now I cannot get it to recognize my voice and when I use the Bixby button the Listening mode is so short I can't say anything before it gives me a message saying it could not hear what I am saying.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 (but soon to upgrade to Note 8). When I go travelling I always take with me my trusty Nikon D7100 digital SLR with 18-85mm lens. Smartphones can take great photos these days but are still lacking due to their lens.

Conversely, my Nikon camera, although a very good camera, is heavy, cumbersome, and I also need to bring the case and charger.

Further, I can't backup to cloud, edit, or share (email, Whatsapp) my pictures directly from the SLR camera. For this I'd need to bring a laptop with me, whereas with my phone I can do these three things from the phone. Also my phone can GPS-tag the photos, whilst to do this on my Nikon I'd need to buy a separate GPS unit to attach it to the camera, thereby making it even more cumbersome.

Viewing recently taken photos on a smartphone screen is much more pleasurable, not to mention the pinch-to-zoom. Also, my phone these days has more free storage space than my camera has in total.

So, to my question... Is there a way that I can have the best of both worlds? Does there exist some sort of 'cradle', where I can attach my current Nikon lenses, and a shoulder strap, and then just slot in the phone to turn it into a fully functional DSLR camera?

As for connection between the phone and the 'thing', I initially thought WiFi, but I think that this would cause a Osh with the viewfinder, so probably USB-C would be best. Plus, with a cable you could potentially or a battery inside the thing which could be used to charge …

We currently have MaaS360 and want to come away from that due to the limited functionality and lack of helpful features. We would require something that provides more control over the device. So that we can allow and restrict apps as necessary.

EDIT: We also push 3 apps currently and would require that feature as well. Something does a fairly good job at auditing the devices within the company.
