Software is any set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific tasks or operations. Computer software consists of programs, libraries and related non-executable data (such as documentation). Computer software is non-tangible, contrasted with computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers. Software written in a machine language is known as "machine code". However, in practice, software is usually written in high-level programming languages than machine language. High-level languages are translated into machine language using a compiler or interpreter or a combination of the two.

I'm disputing the credit card charge for a software application which I purchased online, and which did not perform according to the vendor's representations.  The vendor declined to make a refund, and gave a justification for the product's failure to meet my expectations.  My bank requires me to provide an opinion letter from a software expert, on the expert's letterhead, verifying that the charge dispute is justified.  I can provide documentation of the vendor's representations, and how their product's performance did not match them.  I would be happy to draft the letter for the expert's review and approval.

How can Revo be used to uninstall a program using only its C:\Program Files (86)\ folder location?

This program no longer appears within the Programs and Features List or the Programs list on the Windows 10 computer but continues to run.

The only information I have on it is its program folder location within the C:\Program Files (86)\ folder.

Where do I go within the Revo uninstaller program to enter this program path to have this unwanted program completely uninstalled?

All five of this guys computers all of a sudden had Internet Explorer / Chrome errors like the screen shot. All security errors of some sort. Even logging in to his pop account failed. Has anyone ever seen this? All five computers at the same time? He does have updated, current virus software on all.

If we create a domain Id (shared by a team of users) or a local Windows Id on a PC
for the team of users to use single licence of SnagIt-Camtasia, does this violate the
licensing terms?  It's about 3-4 users

Just wanted to get 1 licence due to budget reason.

Hi Experts.

I use the Control-Break key combination for various tasks, e.g. halting a VBA code.

But I've got 2 keyboards that don't have a Break key:

Microsoft Surface Type Cover (photo)

Microsoft Modern Keyboard (photo)

Can anyone suggest equivalent keystrokes for these keyboards?

Thanks,

Regards,
Leigh

Is there an accurate way to synch two devices to the exact same 24 hour time? I time races for a living and I am trying to make my "start time" function more accurate.  Since the starting line is often quite a ways from the timing trailer, it would be nice to capture the start on an iPhone or Android and then enter that into the software.  But that would only work if the phone time is exactly the same as the pc time.

Then I need an app that would capture time-of-day by clicking a button at any point in time.

Thoughts?

Looking for a Real Estate sales database

It would be pretty cool to find a database of property sales over the last 10 years (for example) in a certain city, and with the address listed.

Does such a DB exist?

I would need to get access to it so I can query it, not just do a single lookup on a website.

Thanks

APC has been living off its name way too long. Their PowerChute software has never allowed email notifications on any other port except 25 unless you want to use the agent. So what is the point of the GUI? Now they have completely done away with the GUI. Just one miss-step after another for years.

I want to try someone else. Just a simple standalone battery backup for a Windows Server. Simple software that will shut the server down in the event of a power outage and send notifications on various ports with various security. You know... what PowerChute won't do :)

So who is worth looking at?

We use exchange pop3 software to download emails from externally hosted email server and to forward exchange 2007 server.

We stopped this software and we are migrating our exchange server from 2007 to 2013.

We moved all users from exchange 2007 to 2013.

But when we restart the 2007 server, by mistake exchange pop3 server started automatically to download emails and forwarded them to the exchange 2007 server. And those email are not reached to 2013 server and get stuck in the queue of 2007.

How can we release them to the users.

What methods can I use to permanently disable Airplane mode within a Windows 10 laptop so that it will never become activated even if the user tries to turn it on?

Can this be done via a local group policy or some kind of script?

Hi,
We have a testing system in our water testing lab that has an old nt 4.0 system to run the data collection software. This testing system only works with an nt box. Recently we upgraded our printer that the nt prints to and after trying to connect to the printer via network we had to install a parallel port onto the Kyocera P3050 printer and we can now print our data results and graphs. We have gotten a basic HP Laserjet driver to work with the Kyocera ... almost. The font is printing larger than we would like and there is no way to set auto tray switching. If someone has any suggestions on where to start finding drivers/solutions that might help solve these problems it would be greatly appreciated ...

Have not programmed in years but now wish to create an application that the user can paint a picture on a grid format for beading patterns.  Similar to EasyBead application for beaders (that application seems to be no longer viable and does not have the features I want).  However, it appears VB.NET is old news so for current applications I think I need to learn a few new languages but do not know what would be the best place to start.  This would be a stand-alone desktop application mainly for PC's.  It would have an interface for users to select bead sizes and colors, then "paint" the grid pattern.  I also want to have a mechanism where the user can track their inventory and have the application indicate if they need to purchase additional beads or not.  Any suggestions on the best language(s) to achieve this goal?

We use Skype for Business and it's in the O365 portal.  Our Exchange server is on-prem and our AD is on-prem.  All we use the cloud for is the S4B licenses.

We are noticing that some users don't have pictures and some do.  It's random, and, they use to have pictures.  It's odd and I've been tasked with trying to find out why random users don't have pics.

For the most part, users upload their pics thru OWA and that's worked fine.

Does anyone know where I would start to troubleshoot this issue?  Do I start in the cloud?  On-prem?  Outlook?  AD?

Just looking for a good starting point from someone who has seen this before.

Thanks

Cliff

Dear Folks,

I am looking for document Repository free open source like Share Point. FYI, currently, we have all documents available in Share Point and don't want to renew license.
I need to move all documentation from Share Point to other free open source.

Do you have any thoughts on it? Can I use NuGet (Private) to store as documents, along with approval process for each document upload and versioning? Any other options?

Best Regards

I have retired from programming but now have an issue.  I am turning into a beading fanatic but the software out there is minimal so now I am back to trying to create an application for my own personal use.   There are programs such as EasyBeadPatterns, but it apparently has not been updated in years.  There is another program, but does not really have the features I need.  So, question, what program and/or language would be best to create an application that would automatically paint colors onto a grid?  The grid could change rows and columns (this is a future problem to resolve) and the user (me) would select from a palette (future problem to solve) and using the mouse, apply this color to the grid.  My background is mostly programming databases so this is new territory for me.  Would I need to learn a specific language to accomplish this?  Ok, this is two questions in one, so will start with the first of what paint program would be best to accomplish my goal.

I created the following script to create a fake reg key, if the key isn't present - install software. If the key is there, fall out and end the execution.

The script works just fine. My challenge is when it executes, i get the dialog box pop up - which i do NOT want to be displayed.

Again, the script works fine - but how can i edit the script so i DO NOT receive the notification dialog box as shown in the attachment? (prefer to leave it as a .cmd script if possible). Thanks!

@echo off
rem queries if fake regkey is present
reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DotNetCheck"
if %errorlevel%==1 (goto Install) else (goto End)
REM If errorlevel returns value 1, key is not present and prgm will create key and install .net3.5

:Install
REG ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\DotNetCheck
dism /online /quiet /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:\\ds-dfs01\sxs /LimitAccess

:End

Hi ,

One of my clients is currently reviewing one of their employees for discipline. I am concerned that the employee may be disgruntled and try to do some damage.
Namely copying the contents of the Dropbox Pro which contains all the company data to perhaps a USB stick and taking away with them. This is an unusual situation as its a small company of 5 employees. But i want to try and protect the data from theft. Of course without proof there is nothing i can do. Apart from locking USB ports , is there any logging software that can track the movement of files such as copying and pasting on Windows?

Thanks

Dear EE experts,

We would like to ask which program to use or any other possible method to create a running line with arrow on an image in a video.
Here's the case, we'll have a short vdo clip and inside that vdo clip, there will be one image that we'll show, but on the top of that, we would like to show some flow to demonstrate the process, so we would like to have a running line (be it red better) with arrow. For example running line from Point A to Point D, so it would pass start from Pt. A -> Pt. B -> Pt. C -> Pt. D

Thank you and hope to hear soon!
