I am setting up spiceworks monitoring on my domain and "one" computer it cannot connect. I already opened the ports on the domain and in the firewall (Symantec) but still cannot connect.
I did a telnat but it shows ports listening that is not required in their documentation.
Is there a network tool that I could use to monitor to see what is blocking the server application to communicate with client

We have an account that when someone SSHs in to it won't accept a password. If I login via Putty and su to the account I get asked for the password and when I put it in it's accepted. If I ssh to that account I'm asked for a password and it is rejected.

Hasn't been any real changes to the OS/Server but I'm not an Unix  pro. Where should I start?

Yes, I can delete and recreate it but I'd like to find the underlying issue.
I am new to ssh and I have no idea what I'm doing. I followed the instructions on public and private key generating, and all that grand stuff, but when I open terminal on my mac, I get this. What am I doing wrong?
Previously Bluecoat proxy allows access to SendThisFile service but sometime in
May, Bluecoat proxy has blocked it as "potential data loss/leakage".

I can see that SendThisFile has options for files transfer via PCs/laptops/emails
though previously when I could access, they have good encryptions etc.  Don't
recall SendThisFile is HIPAA & PCI certified.

What about IPSwitch (refers to link below):
It's PCI & HIPAA certified but what else sets it apart from SendThisFile that it's
not a potential data loss/leakage source?  Some major insurance companies
want to exchange files with us using IPSwitch.

What I can think off are whether IPSwitch can restrict such that:
a) use only sftp that IPSwitch offers, not ftps (correct me, but I believe ftps is
   less secure than sftp)
b) don't allow transfer via PCs at both sender/recipients ends but this is
something controlled at recipient/sender's ends right?  Not by IPSwitch
or unless IPSwitch has an option that restricts connections from servers
IP addresses of senders & recipients - does it have this option?
c) how is IPSwitch PCI certified?  They mask their customers data or have
segregation of different customers (ie no co-mingling)?
d) how else can we restrict such that sender/recipient do connect from
public places & homes of their staff but only from their organizations'
e) I suppose we should not allow …

I am using secureCRT version 8.0.4 on windows 10. Whenever I ssh into any of the devices, there is no terminal length set for example when i ssh into cisco router and give a command of Show Run it displays the whole configuration instead giving breaks i.e.--more-- in the middle like in putty.

How can i achieve the same using secureCRT?
I have many winscp ftp website, login, password
Rather than me looking through email, and sms to figure out what the passwords are,

how can I backup the passwords in a file
and use that same file to restore in a new windows 10 computer
I found a really nice looking example of how to do telnet over VB.

It is the last post on this page:

It looks to be exactly what I need, but I don't know how to use it.

I want to use it to connect to cisco routers and issue commands.

I've built a form to do it, but, I have a really silly problem.  I don't know how to instantiate the class, set the settings and use it!

I don't do a lot of VB and this bit has stumped me.

Ideally, if you checkout the code below and assuming it is ok,  tell me how to:
1.  Connect to a telnet device using the hostname from a textbox called txtHostRouter and the port number from a textbox called txtPortNumber
2.  Recieve whatever output (probably a password prompt)  into a text box called txtOutput.
3.  Send some input from a text box called txtInput for example "show Run"
4.  Recieve the output into a different text box called txtOutput.

So I can keep doing 3) and 4) until I am finished and then close the connection.

I am not sure where to start, so even if you just get me started, I bet I can work it out.

I have pasted the code below

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

I want to be able to SSH to the outside interface of a remote ASA 5505 so that I can connect to make changes without losing connectivity as the current access is to the inside interface over a VPN connection. I tried  ssh XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX outside but it did not work. This is the public IP of the outside interface. What else do I need?
Feel free to try connecting yourself, it's just a test server atm.

I have tried both WinSCP and FileZilla and can not make a connection. I was previously able to login, but I am using a free webhosting so I don't get free tech support.

I am in the process of setting up SFTP communications with a vendor of ours.  After changing the project parameters from using a web service to SFTP, I have learned that IIS 8 does not support SFTP. Can anyone provide me with an application to use?

1) Secure - Kind of a given, but I'm saying it anyways
2) Actively supported
3) Easy to use - I'd prefer not to have to do everything via command line\powershell
4) Known product\Trusted - I'm looking more for a time tested application rather than the newest latest greatest

1) Can be a purchased product  - though I'm aware of several that are free
2) If it has any special features, I will be using the SFTP to mainly receive XML files into a T-SQL database

Thank you!
Dear Colleagues,
I have HP Aruba2530 switch installed at state hospital.
The problem is that SSH and WEB access is not secured by any password, all the settings are default whatsoever.
Plz help me to add a password authorization to SSH and WEB interface.
I am writing a script using plink to send commands remotely to network devices (routers and switches) and then output the console to a text file.  Using the below, I can successfully acheive this but with some strange results:

(plink -ssh user@ -pw password <.\commands.txt)>output.txt 2>&1

The resulting output.txt file actually shows the command output and then all of the login banner mumbo jumo you get when you log into a device normally (***WARNING*** THIS IS A PRIVATE COMPUTER SYSTEM, etc...)
So my format ends up being:

- results
- login banner

I am having trouble getting the format correct to send a pause trough plink so that my output file shows the results as if I was logged in:

- login banner
- results

Any suggestions?  or is this even possible?
My 14.04 LTS ubuntu box has 2 active network connections:

The default gateway is the hardwired eth0 (192.168.1.x) going to my cable modem, which has a WAN ip address of 68.x.y.z

The wireless connection is wlan0 (192.168.0.x) is to a cellular access point to Sprint LTE gateway, which has a WAN ip address of 174.x.y.z

I want to have the option to ssh into the server with the option of choosing which WAN to use for ssh socks proxy port forwarding.

I added a route with this command:
route add -net gw

Here's the output of my route command:
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface UG 0 0 0 eth0 U 9 0 0 wlan0 U 1 0 0 eth0

I want to ssh with the -b option to bind to the wireless connection and with socks proxy port forwarding going through the Sprint network, not through my cable modem:
ssh user@myserver -b -D 1080

But when I use my browser to go to using the socks proxy on port 1080, I still pull up the WAN ip address of the cable modem 68.x.y.z rather than of the sprint WAN.

How can I get ssh to route through the sprint WAN on wlan0, rather than the default gateway through the cable modem?
We are outsourcing our customer screening function (to screen for customers who
are known to be $ laundering or terrorist-funding related) to an external vendor.

We have to do sftp to transfer our customers' info to this vendor daily.

a) Is is more secure that we are the sftp server (ie the vendor connects to us to
'get' the data or the vendor is the sftp server (ie we 'put' the data to the vendor
    or it doesn't matter?
Considering whether to get Tectia ssh client or Tectia ssh server

b) Anyone come across direct secure data transfer between apps (say via API)?
Does such API uses sftp protocol?   If so, any keys need to be established and
exchanged between our apps & the vendor's apps?  Perhaps this question
    doesn't make sense

c) For a more secure environment, should we enable one-way instead of two-ways
    ssh keys exchange?'

d) I'm inclined to think that should an ex-employee left us, he can copy the ssh
keys out;  so would a 2nd extra authentication (say password authentication)
help?  Or what could help with this scenario where a staff at vendor's end
or our end leave & copies out the ssh keys?
Hi, all,

I've had a number of people help me out with a slow computer issue. The other computer on my network slows down to almost nothing sometimes as well.

I decided I'd turn off wireless access to the router for a few days, to see if that would help. My gateway IP is I've never had trouble accessing it before (It's a Telmex Infinitum router).

But the connection times out. So two questions:

1. Could that be an indication that it's being controlled by someone else? Or am I just being paranoid?

2. How else can I get into it? I know in my old job I used telnet to access routers. I guess I could do that?

Thanks. I'm on Windows 7 SP 1.

UPDATE: I tried telnet, maybe I did it incorrectly?

Hi all,

Is there a way to reset the password on a Dell Powerconnect 3424 or 6024 by using Telnet? I tried connecting to the console port with a serial crossover using Putty, but no luck connecting. I can plug into the management port and use Telnet, but it immediately asks me for the username and password, which were never recorded. Is there any way to get around this without resetting to factory defaults? I desperately need the config info off of this device before it fails. Thanks for any help or guidance you can provide.
I'm building a series of weatherstations for some of our sites.
I'm using Arduinos with USB to Mikrotik routerboards not only for power but serial interfacing of the output.
I've created a telnet interface to read the virtual serial port and have the output post every 5 minutes or so from the Arduino.

So far the output from the telnet session shows:
Temp = 19.00 DegC
Humidity = 59.00%
SoilHumidity = 10%
Not Raining

I'm going to expand the sensors considerably at a later date but at this stage am wondering on the best way for PHP to open and monitor the telnet session and then post the output from the Arduino to MySQL for monitoring purposes.  I hope to later pass the data per read to the likes of Weather Underground (since some sites already have weather cameras) or APRS/CWOP.
For the serial/telnet output I can change the formatting to suit. Maybe have it in a layer that is CSV.

Any ideas/input would be appreciated.
