We have a partner that has a MySQL / Maria DB Master server.  We have a slave and want to replicate against their master.  Some want to use the builtin SSL replication and others want to tunnel via SSH.  Can anyone provide some recommendations or pros and cons of each.  Any security, maintenance issues to consider?  Also, I assume that since we would be replicating against their master, they would have to run with the ssh port listening, not our slave?  Thanks

Hey I am changing my SSH key.

How do I remove my old SSH key from my servers trusted keys.

Have a new 3650 configured from scratch, I'm trying to get ssh/radius authentication setup.  I went through a guide to setup on switch, I have several others that are working so i know the server is setup correctly, but when i try to use it on the switch, SSh works, and i can log in with local creds, but AD creds don't work. Thinking I'm missing something.  was hoping someone could take a look over my config and see if anything stands out.. Thanks

I'm trying to follow this guide in order to setup an SSH tunnel for VNC onto an ubuntu desktop from a Windows desktop.

I can connect via SSH but the moment I start the VNC connection to localhost::5902 I immediately get the following message:

"Connection has been gracefully closed".

Any ideas what could be causing this? Is it a bad setting on the Ubuntu computer I'm trying to VNC into? Did I configure PuTTY or TightVNC wrong? Is it because I changed the default SSH port number? Is there something I need to do on my router other than port forward the ssh connection appropriately (which I already did)? Is there an alternate method you would suggest?

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS & Windows 10, both 64 bit.

I am not familiar with Linux but have configured a Linux appliance. The box is configured and I can log into it via console. I never use putty and tried to SSH into but get the following below. I know am able to authenticate via console, but not SSH. I was wondering if I need to enable something to allow remote access.  If so, what commands must I put in to enable it? Please advise.

I have 1000+ of these - and it appears the parent process for each I have checked is the same command... not sure what is going on... any ideas?

We have an SFTP setup and have a client that wants to know what protocols/hashing algos/encryption we allow.  I found this info, I'm not sure if this is good... should any of these be disabled?  Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi,

I am currently researching techniques used to exfiltrate data, such as ICMP tunneling, SSH tunneling and DNS tunneling. I have come across the word "covert channels" but am not sure if this refers to the tunneling techniques I have mentioned. Can someone explain what the exfiltration techniques through tunneling are called? i am asking to try narrow down my research keywords. Not sure if they fall under covert channels.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

We have a vendor who has put his linux based appliance behind a firewall. If I ssh to the system from the same subnet as the linux appliance ssh succeed - giving me a login prompt and then succeeding with authentication. If I login to the linux appliance from the Outside of the firewall the conversation succeeds apparently - I get a login prompt. But when I enter the same credentials the connection is promptly terminated. If I look at the firewall I see only the allowed SSH session and no other denies to the server.
Any idea what might be going on? What logging could be looked at on the linux appliance to give us insight as to why the ssh connection is failing in the second case? Thank you

Hi Experts,

1. In what kind of environment , would we need to manage SSH keys?
Is it when we have multiple users sshing into any network device/Servers ?

2. Is there any software , that can be used to centrally deploy  different SSL certificates , and manage them (as in inform the admins about the date of expiry , etc.)

Thanks,
T

Hello Experts,

We are remediating security vulnerabilities.  I have several Ricoh MP 401SPF printers in our environment.  One of the vulnerabilities found was open TELNET.  I want to enable SSH and disable telnet.  I go into the printer interface and setup SSH as follows:

Ricoh1.png---Paint.png
When I try to SSH into the printer, I get the following error:

Ricoh2.png
When I look at the logs, I'm not seeing much that will help me.  Here are the logs:

Ricoh3.png
I've googled the error and have not come up with much.  I've deleted the key and recreated it.  I've also tried different clients.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Nick

I am running ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS \n \l  on a virutal machine.

Up until about 1 hour ago, I was able to SSH into my linux box just fine internally, in my network.
I did a sudo ufw disable, sudo reboot and then i just enabled back the firewall, sudo ufw enable, did a reboot,
and now I can't SSH into the server.

Any idea's what I have to do to fix the issue and allow the linux box to accept SSH?

I can get into it via the console.

Hello Experts,

I have number of HP blade enclosures to pull data from.  I've written a Python script to SSH to the enclosures and retrieve the data.   The script works but takes about 3 hours to complete.   Although the bulk of the code in the script parses the data, the bulk of the time involved is in setting the SSH session to each server.   Thus what I'd like to do is establish a means to run the processes in parallel.    I'm hoping someone can give me pointers in the right direction.

What I've Tried

1. My first stab at this with with the Parallel-SSH module (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/parallel-ssh).   That would have been the cleanest solution.   However, although I was able to connect to my enclosures, I was unable to retrieve output from any of my commands.
2.  My current work around is to use Python's Multiprocessing module and specifically a pool as that seemed to be the simplest solution.   However, that's not working.   From the output the use of pool.imap results in mangled IP addresses.  Consider the following:

('OA IP is: ', u'1')
Now Processing OA 1.
Cannot connect to OA: 1.
[Errno None] Unable to connect to port 22 on 0.0.0.1

Here are some code snippets
def automatic_mode():
    enclosure_results_lst = []
    try:
        enclosures_lst = get_chassis_data()
        # Function pulls IP addresses from another systm
        # Function return a Python list. Example below
        # enclosures_lst = ['10.0.0.1', '10.0.0.1',

I am setting up spiceworks monitoring on my domain and "one" computer it cannot connect. I already opened the ports on the domain and in the firewall (Symantec) but still cannot connect.
I did a telnat but it shows ports listening that is not required in their documentation.
Is there a network tool that I could use to monitor to see what is blocking the server application to communicate with client

We have an account that when someone SSHs in to it won't accept a password. If I login via Putty and su to the account I get asked for the password and when I put it in it's accepted. If I ssh to that account I'm asked for a password and it is rejected.

Hasn't been any real changes to the OS/Server but I'm not an Unix  pro. Where should I start?

Yes, I can delete and recreate it but I'd like to find the underlying issue.
