I just created a test company.  I simply want to take yesterday's backup from a real company and restore it into the new test company.  When I try to do this it says 'The backup file you selected refers to a database other than the one you are trying to restore'.  I want to test something with real company data, but am having trouble finding a way to do this.

Hello,

I had a Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System, Store Operations, application crash due to faulty hard drive. Customer has a .bck but it was done in June 09.  I have reinstalled Store Operations to a new hard disk and my system can attach to it's demo files.

I tried stopping the server service and copying over the MDF and LDF from the old DATA directory and placing it in the new.  but the system doesn't recognize it as it wasnt generated from the same sql server installation.  Is there a way to have it be recognized?

I've been reading the older posts and it looks like it can be done through command line.
i'm new to sql so please give me reply as if talking to a baby. e.g. open cmd prompt, etc.

Can i rename the old.mdf to old.bck?

thanks!

Does econnect support System.Transactions?  I've seen references to app.config changes and the DTC so I'm assuming it does but I was wondering if anybody could confirm.

Basically, I'd like to confirm at I can do something like the following and guarantee it was atomic:
using (TransactionScope trans =new TransactionScope)
{
  //first econnect call
  //second econnect call
  trans.Complete()
}
Hey, my bank only gives me my account info in qif or ofx file formats and not Qfx.
Is there any free tool I can use to convert to Qfx as this is the new format that quicken requires to import my account info?

Greetings,

I'm trying to pre-populate a lookup field (most importantly "customer" but others as well) depending on how the user created the case.

I have tried to accomplish this through relationship mapping with no success so far.  I don't care which way to do it, but if the user is in an entity that is related to an account, and opens a case, I want the customer - at least - to be prepopulated so the user doesn't have to enter the data - or have the ability to enter incorrect data.

For our cases, the 'customer' is less important than other entities, but CRM doesn't seem to allow making customer an optional field in cases - unless there is something I do not know.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Hello,

I'm trying to get a form to set a default value using js.  This code does not error, but also doesn't set the value.  I don't know how to find the correct name for a custom attribute on the form - I could be naming it incorrectly.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Cheers,

Does anyone have an easy way to automate the Dynamics GP stock count entry?  We scan our inventory using barcodes and bring that data into excel.  It would be nice if we could someway import that excel file into GP instead of going through the tedious process of doing the stock count schedule and manual entry.

We use Peachtree Premium for Manufacturing 2008.  We have a small peer-to-peer network, with the Peachtree data files residing on 1 computer; other computers have a mapped drived to that shared folder.  I'm getting ready to move us over to a server based network & have been working on setting up the server.  I'm using my computer to test things with the server & now when I switch back to having the router be my DHCP I'm having trouble with Peachtree.  It says it can't connect to the database, even though I can browse the mapped drive just fine.  I can access all other resources on the network (that I've tried).  I finally uninstalled Peachtree, wiped evidences of Peachtree from the computer & re-installed.  When the installer got to the part of connecting to the database, I get the same error: Cannot Connect to Peachtree Database on Network.  I've tried by completely disabling all firewalls, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.  I think it's something with my mapped drive because at one point it said it was disconnected, but I could still browse it.  I disconnected it (it was still there, couldn't get it to go away at all), reconnected it but still no luck.  I'd appreciate any help I can get to solve this.  Other computers on the peer-to-peer network are accessing just fine, so I know it's not actually a "server" computer issue.

Hi,

I have a parent workflow with several child workflows.  One of the "children" depends on the results of another.  I have them listed in order in the parent workflow.

In reviewing system jobs, the parent workflow is running the last child first.

How can I ensure that one workflow has been completed before another starts?  I'm not sure if asynchronous service is running - could this be an issue?

Thanks--

We have recently up graded to Mas 4.3 we also use starship to ship via UPS and Fed Ex.  We are experiencing a 30 second delay between the scaning in of an item and the actually printing the shipping label. We have two computers running this program the problem only occurs on one of the computers the one with the main install on it. Only one computer is used at a time most of the time. Either way the 30 sec delay one the one is unexceptable and I am at a loss as to how to fix it. Is there any one out there in expert land that might have an idea of way i have this delay.

Thanks

Hi experts,

I am new to CRM and know very little about it. I need to constantly create queries that extract the data and am finding that for a lot of it, I cannot extract easily and need to create a few queries to then place into something like MS Access and then query the data from there.

Where does CRM store the data? Is it tables? Can you create a MS Access database and get a ODBC link to the tables? Have you got any other ideas?

Thanks
J

I am installing Microsoft Dynamics GP Service Call Management.
When I am entering Parts the system is posting the transaction after each part line is entered. So for each part line I am getting an inventory Journal, etc.
How can I stop this an have the parts posted in batch afterwards.

I have an Acer 4235 Notebook running a GF 7300 GU graphics card and the Fn/F5 key combination fails to work. Does anyone know a way of getting this functionality back or is it a in-compatability issue with the Nvidia soft/hardware?

This is a tough question for my business.  All of our business records and operations are currently kept on a Pick system thru Univ.  Because of support and necessary server upgrades, we are looking to fully automate our office systems and have looked at MAS 90 EES.  Here are the two issues.  1.  For MAS 90 EES with full EDI capabilities, they want $90,000, plus the necessary hardware changes we will have to make.  2.  The second issue is data migration from our Pick system.  Basically, they want to charge a small fortune to export the Pick files to the proper files that the Sage software will be able to import and build on.
I need some serious advice from you guys, especially if I am looking at this the wrong way.  The obvious solution is to find a Pick system that has the full capabilities of  a MAS 90 system, from receiving orders thru EDI to printing orders, invoices, inventory control, AR, AP, etc.  Does anyone know if something like this exists?  I am in this up to my neck and would appreciate any information, advice or scolding you care to lay on me.

Thanks for your time and thoughts.

This sounds so simple, yet I cant figure it out.
I have a client on the network who hosts the printer for Invoice printing.
The client computer name used to be CL-IBM86545264564, which was changed to CL-Sam.
Everyone who needs to print invoice can print them fine.
BUT
Before I changed the client name, when in the invoice screen, they could hit print and it would print to the invoice printer.
Now since the client name change, they need to choose the printer from a drop down list or it will print to their default printer.

Is there a script, setting or property I need to specify on the GP10 server to tell it, when in the invoice screen print here \\CL-Sam\HpLaserj1100
