I am almost finished "rebuilding" and reinstalling the programs I had on a Windows 7 computer onto another computer running Windows 7. Just about everything has gone smoothly. I saved my Thunderbird profile, and I think Thunderbird saved my emails and other related data which I would like to restore on the new computer. I see some file with odd numbers which may be the Thunderbird profiles folder, assigned that name by Thunderbird.

I have looked at the explanation of "Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer" on the Thunderbird website, and have to say that I simply do not understand much of ANYTHING they are telling me to do. I have tried to follow these instructions and it seems that what they say and what I see are two very different things.

What I want to do doesn't appear to be a terribly difficult thing, but I am honestly lost at trying to dope out what I should REALLY do. I get the sense that it's supposed to be simple, but it also reminds me of that old joke of asking an engineer "What time is it?" and he starts telling you how to build a clock.

So, experts, in asking you for help, I'd like you to pretend that I am able to open folders and do the most elementary of computer tasks, maybe just one step above having to be told where the "g" key is on the keyboard. Perhaps "total dummy but not entirely hopeless" would be a good picture of me from which you can guide me to get this rectified.

By the way, why "high" priority? Because I've tried to fix this off…

Friend gets the same e-mails we do from a company. One on Wed. and one on Friday. Mine arrives in my Hotmail account and all images are shown. He uses Thunderbird and he gets no images. He gets links to everything.
I have no access to their computer now but is anyone aware of the setting he can change to allow all images to be seen?
I've sent him single photos and they arrive as images.

He sees this:

I use a CRM which has the nice feature of showing what emails were viewed, and when they were viewed.

Does this exist with ThunderBird? Or is there some other email client I can use that has this?

Thanks.

I am trying to read Thunderbird files such as Inbox in Delphi - to get the email addresses and to be able to parse the message contents and suchlike.

Is there a component or class that can do that publicly available? I believe Thunderbird stores the emails in the mbox format.

Hi All,
Here's the facts before my question:
>I have a client using Thunderbird to manage their emails
>There are 2 Users, on 2 separate computers
>Both have their email setup as IMAP
>Through a convoluted setup, User 2 can access User 1's local email folders which are stored on User 1's computer
>Total Email space taken by User 1's emails is ~85GB including the local folders (local folders ~40GB)

I would like to migrate them to O365. The problem is after converting the local folders in Thunderbird emails to a PST, how can I setup those emails so both can be accessed efficiently by both Users?

*I don't think uploading a massive 85GB PST file, then sharing the folders with the other user in Outlook would be the best solution.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi,
I have a client who's HDD crashed. I was able to recover all his files etc including his Outlook PST file.
I am setting up his new computer and will be using Thunderbird. Does anyone know the procedures for converting
a stand alone PST file into a format that I can import into Thunderbird? Also the procedures for importing the
converted file into Thunderbird.
if at all possible I would rather not pay for a program .
If I need to install Outlook (MS Office) on the new computer it would be nice to get a link to where I can download
a trial version.
Thanks

This SHOULD be simple, but calendar's are always a pain.  Here's what I WANT to do...

OUTLOOK Calendar <> Thunderbird Lightning

I can have OUTLOOK < GMAIL <> Lightning
but that doesn't get it back to OUTLOOK.

We have used Outlook forever and I don't want to have to convert to G-Mail.  Both computers at work use WLM (I know, no longer supported), and they sync to each other, but I want my Thunderbird Calendar to not only download the calendar entries, but for me to be able to add to the calendar.  I can't seem to find a way to do this.

i recently installed Thunderbird on my new setup windows 10-64bit
all is ok - except a couple of things :
1-   here you see a part of the adress book - well populated, after importing from old setup
but when i type an adress in an e-mail - it does not see the adresses; but it does see the adresses i did put in by typing an email adress
the same goes for the folder "verzamelde adressen" (now they are in the personal folder)
how can i make them see the adresses?

2-   in the following screenshot, you see an adress  - but i cannot copy the adress into my new mail
any solution how to get that working too

While sending HTML links to a relative using Thunderbird I discovered an anomaly or mistake or something?

The web page I wish the relative to access is

http://www.jawamarkt.cz/en/search/electr-ignition-set-12volt-top-price-

but if you place that in an email and send it the hyperlink turns into

http://www.jawamarkt.cz/en/search/electr-ignition-set-12volt-top-price  (the hyphen is still there but doesn't form part of the hyperlink).

So ...

Is this an error on Thunderbird's part or is there a reason for it?
Are hyperlinks in HTML allowed to have a hyphen at end or must they finish with a letter or number?

I can not find, for the life of me, how to get Thunderbird to update my GMail password. I needed to change the password, and GMail blocks me from using an old password, so I can not solve the problem by going back to the ld one.

I can not get it to update properly.

I am sometimes presented with a GMail login window where the "Next" button does nothing, even tough I enter the correct email address.

So, how do I explicitly set the password for an existing email account on Thunderbird?

Thanks.

I have an email to you out and would like my press release, a PDF, to be more than just an attachment. I'd like it to be the body of the email.

How do I do this?

And can I add a few sentences, as a personal note, above the body of the email?

I have set up a new Office 365 account for my domain.
Previously the e-mail was on IMAP.

Having set up the accounts on 365 I want to repopulate the e-mail folders for each user.

I have backups for the Windows users with MozBackup and the Mac users in Outlook OLT files.

365 doesn';t seem to recognise these backups to import the data.

I read what I could copy and paste/drag and drop them within Thunderbird into the new account.
However whenever I do then en-masse I get the following error?

The current command did not succeed. The mail sevrer for accounts X@Y.Z reponded [TRYCREATE] Folder is not found.

What's the workaround?

Hi all... we have a GMail account that we have been sharing the same mailbox via IMAP in Thunderbird Ver. 52.2.1 for months with no issues.  As of last Friday (July 14, 17) all of the PC's stopped being able to sync their email with the server.  They are all getting an error message that says "Server ____@gmail.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem."  I've not been able to find any indication that GMail is having any issues and have had no luck getting any of them working.  Deleting the account and recreating it works but it will not load any of the folders and still gives the same error message.  Accessing the account works normally when using the GMail website.  I've spent most of the day reading through and trying some of the old suggestions on old blogs to no avail.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Greg

I need a powerful, paid Thunderbird to Outlook (PST) converter for over 30 Win 7 (some Win 10) desktops that I will install Outlook 2016 on.  The current Thunderbird accounts are setup mostly in POP3 and some Thunderbird's have 2 POP3 accounts.

The free ones, are too much of a pain and will pay to have a good one that does not have me doing manual work.

Thanks

I'm in a real pickle! I am using Dovecot on a Linux mail server with IMAP folders . I've moved a Thunderbird profile from a Windows 7 mail client to Linux. That worked just fine, all folders and messages showed up. Then I did something, I've no idea what. Now, I can only see messages from the Maildir/cur folder on the server. None of the INBOX subfolders show up. I tried restoring again the original Windows profile, but same result. I continue to get the "The current operation on 'inbox' did not succeed" message. It says, "refer to server log for more information". There is nothing in Tools > Developer Tools > Error console. Where is this server log? Perhaps that will give me a clue as to what happened.

I desperately need to try and get this back in action by morning or the user is out of luck for email tomorrow.

Anyone?

Hello,

When using Thunderbird, how do you copy or save images that are embedded in the body of a received email (ie images were pasted into the body of the email by the sender and not attached as files)?

I received an email which contains 4-5 images pasted in the body. Right-clicking on the image brings up a menu but there is no Save or Save as option. There is a Copy option but after selecting that, nothing appears when pasting it. Furthermore, Ditto clipboard manager (which retains a duplicate of everything copied to the clipboard) has no sign of it. I also tried Select all (Ctrl+a) — which does highlight the images — followed by Ctrl+c but the paste includes only the text from the email.

At this point, it seems like my only option is to use the Snipping Tool to capture the images from my screen one-at-a-time. However, I would be very surprised if Thunderbird does not have a way to do it and the problem is that I just don't know what that is.

Thanks

The pc owner has a Dell with Windows 7 but Windows 10 disc came with it. He says or thinks that Windows 10 is integrated in the system since he has a disc to use to acquire 10 any time he desires.

He uses Thunderbird and I sent him an image as an attachment from my e-mail. He also got an attachment from someone else as a .doc.
He opens the .doc using Word and it prints fine. Thunderbird opens a window and he chooses which program he wants to open it with and Word is right there for him to choose.
I'm there and when I choose Windows Picture Manager to open my attached photo so I can print a few wallet sized the print job gets stuck in the queue and fails to complete printing. There is a green progress bar and I can not see the green get to the right end of the bar before it closes. I've tried saving the image to the desktop and then open it with the same program and try to print again and it gets stuck in the queue behind the other one. The pc owner says the pc has a mind of it's own. (?)
It will not print from an e-mail or from the desktop so he says.

I opened Google and went to my ISP's website and accessed my own e-mail that way and looked in my sent folder and there was the image I had sent him. I right clicked and saved it to his desktop and opened it with his Picture Manager and it failed to print and got stuck in the queue. All in the queue can be cancelled except the first one. I tried a reboot and no success getting the first one totally cancelled.
