Voice Over IP

Voice over IP (VoIP) is a methodology and group of technologies for the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet. Other terms commonly associated with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, broadband telephony, and broadband phone service. The term specifically refers to the provisioning of communications services (voice, fax, SMS, voice-messaging) over the public Internet, rather than via the public switched telephone network (PSTN).  Examples of the VoIP protocols are H.323, Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), H.248 (also known as Media Gateway Control (Megaco)), Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP), Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP), Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP), Session Description Protocol (SDP), and Inter-Asterisk eXchange (IAX).

Need a report button for bad sales call attempts.

Just had an interesting sales call.  Well, there wasn't any call per se.  The phone rang and the caller ID was for a website.  When I answered, all that was playing was music and no person on the other end.  Annoying, right?  I hung up, looked up the website and found out it was a cloud VoIP website.  As soon as I went to the website a chat window popped up welcoming me.  Ugh.

Not sure if clever sales attempt phone call or rude way of luring me to their website.  I'm feeling the latter and also feeling taken advantage of.  I want to report this deceitful attempt at a sales call, but don't know if that's a thing?  If I mention the name then I also feel I'm spreading the word for them for free.

Fortunately, I bet the people dealing with things like this complaint system might actually be the ones likely to care ;-)

For example: in the past I had great success with the FCC's Do Not Call list (Which I honestly wasn't expecting to work, but it absolutely did! I had needed to get a landline, and as soon as I did, it got a ton of daily telemarketing calls. Soon after adding the number to the DNC list, the calls dropped to nothing. The system worked!)

Nice.  In retrospect, I am just being bitter about it haha.  Just like we at EE do need data, I'm sure FCC needs the data as well to look upon and see 'do we deal with this now?  Is it a large or small problem?' :)  Who knows maybe they've already been reported or maybe I'm the first!

Read the guide to learn how to orchestrate Data ONTAP, create application-consistent backups and enable fast recovery from NetApp storage snapshots. Version 9.5 also contains performance and scalability enhancements to meet the needs of the largest enterprise environments.

Video I saw trending today showcases what happens when an IRS phone scammer, attempts to scam the wrong programmer. Said programmer decides to write a call flooding script to prevent the scammers from receiving call-backs. As the frustration ensues he records their responses to the phone calls.

The language eventually becomes nsfw, you've been warned.
