Web Applications

Web applications are systems that run in browsers that perform functions normally associated with other client-based programs. One of the most commonly used web applications is email; instead of downloading individual emails to a local machine, the data is shown through a website. Other examples of web applications are collaborative systems like a wiki or an online game.

Last week our firewall reports identified a new SaaS application in use: New Relic going to bam.nr-data.net/

I know what the application does, I just don't know how it got there.

We've tried pulling PCAPs, firewall reports, asking app dev if they installed it, asking the vendor if someone is paying for it, even searching for redirects to the site in Windows.

Experts, can you please provide some recommendations on how else to find the source of the redirect?

Some tools we have available: Wireshark, firewall, endpoint clients, SCCM, lite SIEM, unfortunately no web application firewall.

Dear Experts,
I have just started using Sharepoint 2019, and wanted to create a calendar to book multiple conference call numbers to avoid double booking.  I am able to create a Site Content, but I wanted to put that on my Home page, and cannot find a way to refer to either the link itself (HTML Field Security issue) or add Web App parts.  (I can only choose Events, not calendar.)  I am not sure what permission I do not have, and this was set up as a learning platform, so no one that installed this on prem server can answer my question.  Please advise.
I am new to writing API's, and was wondering where the best place to start was with writing a RESTful API for a locally hosted SQL2017 server. I have written an app using angular, and wish to access my data that is located on the local network (installed on a windows 10 machine) through a API.
I already have a VB.net project that connects to the database (each practice has a local server and program that connects through the local network).  I am writing a app to give more functionality to the clients, and need to access this data from the newly written app (using ionics and angular, writen in visual studio code).   As I am new to API's, I was wondering where the best place was to start, or any good examples on how to build a basic api.  I would also like to know if I can integrate this into the existing VB.net project, as the project and sql server are already at clients.
I am getting an error when trying to run my solution. It will build successfully.  The error occurs when trying to access the Web Applications.  I have added myself to Farm Admin, Local Admin, WSS_ADMIN_WPG. When I run the solution, I can access the Central Administration root URL, but when it tries to traverse to lower sites in CA, I get the same error.  All the other Web applications are denied at the top level.

I can run a PowerShell script on the same server and get the response with ALL Web Applications URL's with no errors.

I need a really good example in PHP (maybe something somebody implements before in a web app) to implement in a little program, where the user can upload files, we are using PHP, MySQL,  the files can be saved in the database as a binary or physical in the server  whichever is best
Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

          Of my 20+ years of being a member of Experts Exchange.com, this is going to be the most difficult and painful question to ask.   Recently, my two sisters who are disabled lost everything they had to a house fire.   While there has been some outpouring of help from the community like local churches and The Red Cross, I would like to perhaps start a fundraising campaign online as an attempt to provide further help in rebuilding their lives which brings me to the point of this question.  Could someone recommend some online avenues to setting up online fundraising campaigns to help with emergency situations such as this?

           In closing, I sincerely and with deep gratitude thank everyone in advance for any guidance given in this difficult time.   While I can not replace everything lost due to the house fire,  I do want to help my sisters build new memories by starting over with a new life.

I am looking to set up an online attendance system and need to choose an economical web hoster to do this.  It will require a backend sql database. Do any of you experts have any suggestions on what might be a good setup for this as regards a webhoster or any ideas?

I know some of the web hosters include a database with their package like pow web but I’m not sure if this is something that I should do separately with Micrsoft Azure and then connect to my Web hoster.  I’m anticipating that I would need 10 gigs of space for the database and also performance would matter to some extent.  I also would have a web developer that needs access so the hoster would need to be able to allow limited access.

I have an api query string that I want to do this:

/api/web/lists/GetByTitle('MyList')/items?$top=1000 and $filter= Tab eq 'Food'

so far $top=100 works and $filter= Tab eq 'Food' also works, how do I combine them?
I currently have a custom LOGO that I centered on my Windows 10 PRO background.

Can I somehow add a hyperlink to this BIG image ?

I know I can create a smaller .ICO file and just have the small regular ICON appear as a hyperlink, but I want this BIGGER image (about four times bigger then all the desktop icons) to be a hyperlink.
I have used Java before, so I'm not a beginner, but I am a beginner in JavaFX. My goal is to set up Netbeans with JavaFX so I can start learning on my own. Ever since Oracle no longer included JavaFX with the SDK, it has become confusing to me as to what Netbeans version to use with which JavaFX version, and I haven't been able to make an installation of both that works perfectly and seamlessly, so I really need advice and help on this.

Can someone guide me on this, please? Perhaps we can start off with which Java SDK, Netbeans, and JavaFX versions I should download, and perhaps a referral to a set of instructions on how to install JavaFX so all will work together. (I already know how to install JavaSDK and Netbeans, I just need to know the version numbers.)

I signed up only for one month with Experts Exchange because I'm not sure how well I will be helped. I say this not because I don't think there is anyone smart enough, but because I know this technology is in a state of constant change, and I'm not sure if anyone is truly current and an expert with this already. I hope I am dead wrong. :) I just want to get this working so I can start learning JavaFX, and then I will change my subscription type to annual, and I will most likely be posting a lot of JavaFX questions moving forward.
My web site has an web application in a subdirectory. I created first a virtual directory for it, then "convert to application". Both the site and the app share the same pool.

As long as I call a page of the app (a .aspx) directly through browser address, it works just fine. In addition, the app pages have non-restricted access to the hosting site's files.

But if I call such a page from a .htm page on the site (a non-app page), ASP.NET Event 1310, Event Code 3006, and in the Request information section, User: Is authenticated: False.

My guess was the account IIS uses to access a .aspx page directly is different from the account the web site uses to call such a page from one its own .htm pages.

How can I fix this? (no experience with such issues) Server is 2019.
website alias name does not go to the right website.  I called the company that it points to and they have no idea.  they are contacting their IT and website people right now.   See  screensbhot.  I host with network solutions and all looks well there.  Domain is renewed to Nov. of 2020.  What should I do next.  When I click through the warnings it goes to the website of the company that I have contacted.  It IS a company in the same city I live.

I'm trying to connect .NET to a published webservice.  The way the appserver is configured, I need to generate a connect request, which returns a uuid, then generate the actual request to get / update information, then generate a logout request.

I can connect to the web service; the connect request is supposed to return a value of type xxwt1ID, what I can't figure out is how to get that value and pass it to the actual request to get information from the web service.

I've imported the WSDL as a Service Reference and was able to connect using the statement  cReq3.Connect_xxwt1.  That connection is supposed to return a value of type xxwt1ID, which I then pass when I'm making the actual call to the webservice with statement cReq3.xxwt1(cReq3.xxwt1ID, "abc", "def", out strTest.

I've attached a simple example WSDL - and a stub of code to show what I'm trying to do - any help or suggestions on how to write code to login, retrieve data, and logout would be GREATLY appreciated.

What are people referring to when they say 'website tool'.  I don't think they mean tool used to create website.  I think users may use 'website tool' to make their life or work easier?  What are some examples of website tools that are in use?  How can I use website tool to see what it does?

I have an input form and on that form the user should be able to upload multiple files.

I have the UI / Jquery uploading multiple files and deleting multiple files working great.

the problem that I have is in my controller, I don't know how to get the files into my model with multiple unlimited files.

Let me show you what I have

//With this code user can upload and remove multiple files:

    $(document).ready(function () {

//Begin multiple file upload
    var counter = 0;
    function AddFileUpload()
        var div = document.createElement('DIV');

        div.innerHTML = '<button class="btn btn-default glyphicon glyphicon-remove" style="height:41px; padding: 10px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px; -moz-border-radius: 10px; width:80px;border: 1px solid #BBB;cursor:pointer;" id="Button' + counter + '" type="button" ' +
          'value="Remove" onclick = "RemoveFileUpload(this)" >' +
          '</button>'  +

        '<input id="file' + counter + '" name = "file' + counter +
        '" type="file" class="fileStyle" />';

    function RemoveFileUpload(div)
        var el = document.getElementById("FileUploadContainer");
        var children = el.getElementsByTagName('input');
        counter = 0;

Calendar Creator for Mac - latest version

Document [2020 Calendar] does not respond to Align commands [cc_user_guide-2.pdf (page 21 of  38)

Specifically, Created Calendar year 2020 - Entered the text  “Epiphany” on January 6 with ‘Add Event’ function.

Subsequently, the ‘Arrange/Align/Bottom function did not work at all.

Tried same ‘Align’ function with other added events on same Calendar (January 2020)

Same result - added event did not move with a Align command.

How do I get this to work?
I have a SP with the line below:

sp_updatenote.Parameters.Append sp_updatenote.CreateParameter("@comments", 202, 1, Len( "" & sp_updatenote__comments ), sp_updatenote__comments)

The text that is inserted using the SP is longer than what the above line of code will permit (Not sure what the max length is), so its truncating the code.

What change is needed so that it allows maxvarchar ?
Are there any standard sets of testing that would be mandatory if you have a web application that know through a re-design will soon attract far more traffic than it does at present. We use a SaaS application for one of our customer facing apps, and they are trying to push more customer interaction through the site/app than it offers at present, so therefore it will be handling more traffic and data. There are already some concerns around performance etc as is, so we want to ensure our risk teams are verifying the data owners have got some assurances from the suppliers that this will be fit for purpose once the new features of the app are made available to customers/service users. I will trying to find some form of skeleton plan for the basics tests/risks that we need to delve further on. Obviously all levels of the technology stack behind the application require assessment/consideration. Although I appreciate each application is different, there must be some standard broad level test categories that would consistent for all. I'm not sure what assurances we could get directly from the SaaS providers or how to construct the queries so any assistance of probing questions would be most useful.
